Thanks @stephn88!

No probs, for me the reflux tilt and colours available are what sold it for me. And the lift off bassinet will come in handy, we are only in a 1 bed flat at the moment so can't have a second sleeping area set up for baby permanently

Yukka · 28/04/2019 14:31

Laughing at ‘miming boob massage’ also, hilarious!Grin

I’m really struggling with pain from pgp, has anyone worked out any good home remedies/excercises etc? I can go back to physio as she already mentioned the support belt, crutches etc but I’ve hardly gained any real weight yet (3kg) and feel like I d be going to all support available too soon, I’ve still got loads to gain. Any thoughts? Xx

blueeyedviking · 28/04/2019 17:11

We got a snuzpod 2 from FB marketplace last weekend. Really nice and for half the price. Hopefully the baby likes it 🤞

Done our first NCT session. Was nice and informative. I'm the latest one due, others are mostly middle end of June. People weren't as local as I thought either but there are huge catchments I guess. Have realised that there is so much we haven't thought about.. birthplan, first aid etc..

StargazyDrifter · 28/04/2019 17:25

Yukka sorry to hear you're suffering. There were some good tips on PGP when I asked on the main pregnancy board a few months ago... I can't remember what I called the thread now, but it will be in search. Mine has, touch wood, been quite manageable since I've been working from home, swimming more and not carrying the dreaded laptop back and forth for work.

blueeyedviking that's an important step forward! I stared writing what I think is the start of a birthplan in my phone this morning. Kind of at sea though and glad to hear that NCT cover it.

I have mostly been asleep this afternoon instead of doing hundreds of things that need attention. 😴

cravingmilkshake · 28/04/2019 17:53

Hi all,

Just had a 4d scan at 28 weeks. She's healthy and happy and have a video of her sucking her toes too!

Yukka · 28/04/2019 19:20

Thanks @stargazey in thinking about it I was up and down from meetings all day Friday in the office, wonder if I over did it a bit. Swimming tomo, I’ll check your thread and see how the next week goes.

@cravingmilkshake the would be cool to watch :) so nice to have the reassurance.

Can’t believe we’re all in or entering the 3rd trimester? It’s flying by! Have you heard of the 3 month heat wave on its way.... roll on mat leave in the garden :) x

StargazyDrifter · 28/04/2019 19:36

cravingmilkshake that's SO cute! We just booked a 4D scan for 32 weeks (in a fortnight). Not medically necessary, our local place calls it a "bonding scan", and we can't wait!

We ordered the SnuzPod, cot, bedding, and drawers/changing table combo this evening. The bundle to buy the cot and drawers was more expensive than exactly the same stuff plus a wardrobe. So we got all exited and went for that too... now slightly scratching our heads about where to put it all! 😂 I think that's all the big purchases done now.

Twistering we went for a new SnuzPod but only because of SIDS and asthma history in the family. We didn't find any real difference between a new and second hand one (with new bedding) but it was one of those guilt/first parent anxiety things I guess. Plus we got a "free" wardrobe! This is how they get people. 🙈

On SIDS, we found the Lullaby Trust really helpful for advice (e.g. recommend no sleepyhead pillow and no decorative cot canopy). The most interesting nugget was that dummies may help with SIDS. Still thinking about dummies overall.

Yukka DH has been going on about this heatwave too. I thought this was just one of his random predictions. He's got a big fan and a pram parasol today because of it.

Toria73 · 28/04/2019 22:51

Evening all, am I the only person who has problems adjusting to my bump which grows in fits & starts? Tonight I was the silly bitch who flooded the bathroom; ran the bath to usual water level but never took expanding belly & water displacement into consideration... on the plus side it has saved me from having to get mop & bucket out wash the bathroom floor...

StargazyDrifter · 28/04/2019 23:24

Hello Toria73! You're definitely not alone. DH stopped me from making the same mistake tonight because he happened to pop into the bathroom for something as it was running. Before bed, I lent over the bathroom sink for a bit to be closer to the mirror (tweezing astonishing new chin hairs, delightful)... then spotted that my bump had a sort of red divot where it had been resting on the sink. Sorry bump!

Hope all's well with you. I read somewhere that, at this stage, twins become aware of each other's presence. 😍

Toria73 · 29/04/2019 08:35

Hi Stargazy, how are you? I had a random white chin hair the other day which seemed to appear from nowhere!! Being my daddy’s daughter (he’s still rockin the full pornstache that he grew in the 70s) I’ve always had to keep on top of ‘tache maintenance but the chin hairs are new. 😱
I reckon my two are totally aware of each other. They lie side by side so any movement on the sides of my belly I can distinguish but those in the middle could be either of them but I suspect both as it feels like they are fighting for space. Sometimes I can feel ripples of movement going from top down & back up or vice versa, which is really freaky.
I’m now 30wks & have got 3 more weeks at work, but only 2 meetings that I have to physically attend which is good. On Friday I worked from my bed as I just couldn’t get comfortable anywhere else. I didn’t know my ankles could swell this big without ligament damage...

StargazyDrifter · 29/04/2019 08:52

Sounds like those two are growing wonderfully, Toria! That's funny about the pornstache, my FIL is similar, and very proud of it.

I've had a lot of rolling movements, feels like maybe v big arm/leg stretches - don't know if there'd be enough space for that with twins. Do you get them? They are quite creepy in how they feel and look! I've also been getting frequent tiny spasms in there - like 8-10 rapid little pushes at a time, always makes me think of a dog scratching. Going to ask MW about those later.

Only 2 weeks to go at work here, but sadly no chance to WFH as suddenly everyone wants something. I'm going to sleep for a week when it's done.

blueeyedviking · 29/04/2019 09:10

@stargazydrifter I get the same! My midwife said multippel rapid ones are hiccups.

@Toria , with twins you must be knackered! Good you can WFH.

I've taken a sick day today as my back pain is getting worse. The codein they prescribed me is not good for pregnancy so waiting for a new prescription... cant believe they got that wrong. Going to lie still today and then go physio, hoping that helps..

Toria73 · 29/04/2019 09:25

@blueeyed & @stargazy - totally agree those movements are creepy as f*! Always makes me think of Alien when it’s about to burst out of John Hurt’s stomach. Which then makes me sad as I’ll never look like Ripley in pants & vest, not that I ever did as I was way too short & curvy ie pudgy pre my stretched out belly with cats bottom belly button. Plus I can’t even keep whites that clean...

Toria73 · 29/04/2019 09:43

@blueeyed, your back sounds sore! Have you tried sitting on a yoga ball or light yoga stretches? Child’s pose & Angry cat, happy cat stretches helps me a lot.

RooKangaroo · 29/04/2019 09:47

Wow, @blueeyedviking, after prescribing it to you it turns out you can't have it?? That's madness. How could they have been so mistaken?

Is there something else they can give you?

OP posts:
blueeyedviking · 29/04/2019 10:10

@toria - ha thats what my DH says! I cant bend/stretch my back unfortunately. But have physio today so hope he gives me something.

@rookangeroo Well my back specialist prescribed co-codamol which I thought was quite strange as so strong. I showed it to my consultant who I was seeing after a scan and she said that shouldn't be taken in pregnancy. So she gave me a new prescription and wrote the name of the drug in my yellow notes. We picked it up and I took one yesterday. My DH looked it up on Google and we found out she had prescribed me with the cocodamol again! So basically what she said not to take and what didn't match my notes. My DH, who is a lawyer, called the hospital fuming. The pharmacist confirmed to not take it. So now I'm waiting for a new prescription and an apology. Really bad and was only spotted because of my DH. Too much codeine and certain types can make the baby addicted to it apparently.

SeptemberDays · 29/04/2019 10:51

I'm hoping some of you can help me out. Yes, I should really post a new thread, but all the 6months pregnant people are probably over here already.

If you were about 9st before pregnancy, and 5'3" ish, what's your current waist measurement?

I need measurements for a wedding and currently nowhere near far enough along to know how big I'll be. It'll need altering probably, but I'd rather be in the right ball park.

StargazyDrifter · 29/04/2019 12:03

blueeyedviking that's bonkers, I'm so sorry to hear they've been giving you such poor advice and so much worry, and all that on top of severe pain too. I've been prescribed dihydrocodine (sp?) for the bad rib pain but DH has been discouraging me from taking it unless it's really bad because of its strength (he's not a doctor though).

Yukka · 29/04/2019 12:13

Hi @SeptemberDays - really difficult to answer as there are so many variables - pace of weight gain, high or low bump, breast size increase , size of baby . . .

i think most have gained anywhere from 0.5 stone to 1.5 stone up to now/28 weeks and its not just around the bump/waist. I'd edge my bets at 2 sizes bigger and have it taken in. However . . . . .

Are you looking at maternity dresses/outfits? If you are, you buy the size you were before you pregnant, and the rest is taken care of through the design around the waist. Normal outfits hang differently as they aren't designed in the right way and can look a bit odd/feel uncomfortable. is this a summer wedding also? you could buy one size bigger and have it taken in bu all mat stuff I've found so far fits quite well if I buy to pre pregnancy size.

My personal preference would be a proper mat dress, more likely to fit, and designed to fit shape, more comfort on a warm summers day.

SeptemberDays · 29/04/2019 12:28

Thanks Yukka. Sorry I wasn't clear, it's not my wedding but I'm bridesmaid, so dress has been chosen for me and has a fitted waist. But I don't want to go too big as judging by last time my boobs didn't grow at all, and it's harder to take in that area. 2 sizes up is my backup plan though.

It's irritating that there are plenty of charts to estimate weight gain, and we're given a bump measurement chart, but I can't find anything for a waist measurement, yet they obviously exist for clothes manufacturing.

Kentishgal · 29/04/2019 12:47

septemberdays I agree that it is so variable so v difficult to guess. I was a size 6-8 before, but now I can't fit in a size 14 because of the waist (my boobs etc haven't grown - it is literally just the bump) - at 20 wks I'd put on 2 stone (can't bring myself to weigh again as it's too scary) - but at the other end of the spectrum there are people at 6 months that you'd barely be able to tell they were pregnant. If you've been pregnant before can you recall roughly how big you got? Probably be slightly bigger the second time I'd have thought? Tell them to choose a really stretchy fabric!!!

StargazyDrifter · 29/04/2019 12:58

Hmm... just been to see MW for a routine appt and she wasn't able to hear the heartbeat clearly, but concluded that it is sort of there and, in any case, given lots of movement (including alien-like gymnastics in front of her eyes) it's all probably fine. Has this happened to anyone else? Do I leave it? Next appt (well private scan) is in 2 weeks and movements definitely good.

On the tiny sudden spasms, she thought it might me (my) trapped wind! The morse-code like taps that go on for longer than 5-10 seconds are baby hiccups.

Yukka · 29/04/2019 13:00

Is a shame its been chosen for you - where about's is the waist cut, like A line etc? if its A line under the boob you can make it work, but much lower than this you might find it doesnt fit or sit well. Would the bride let you find something yourself, from a mat collection that matches/close match to any other bridesmaid?

Agree with @kentishgal, second baby bumps are much bigger than first . . .

Kentishgal · 29/04/2019 13:16

Stargazydrifter it's not happened to me but I can imagine how anxious that might make you - reality is you are having good movements - but if it would completely put your mind at rest could you go to triage and ask them to listen in just on the basis that it's causing you stress - or ask the midwife to listen again!!
