@Stargazydrifter I haven't had that, but it would stress me out too. I would also insist her to listen again.

And yes the codeine you have got is the one I'm supposed to have... I'm picking it up tomorrow now. I'm going to use it when commuting if it gets bad again..

Yukka · 29/04/2019 14:44

@Stargazey was that a formal checkpoint, like 28w or something? Did she write anything down in your notes? I would be tempted to go back, as they really have to 'sign off' that baby is well at this formal NHS appointments and it doesn't sound like the was confident doing that. I'm sure everything is fine, but its not the point. Perhaps check what she wrote down in your notes.

stephn88 · 29/04/2019 15:01

@StargazyDrifter at my 28 week appointment the baby's heart rate was very high so they sent me off to the maternity unit at Winchester hospital for monitoring, which took 1.5 hours for them to get a proper reading they were happy with (he kept moving about, so they kept losing the heartbeat lol!!)
So to put your mind at rest maybe ask them if they can send you to your nearest maternity unit....

JSCRJ · 29/04/2019 15:47

@StargazyDrifter at my 28 week appointment the babies heart beat was going fast and then dropping for a few beats. MW wasn't happy so sent me to triage at the hospital where they listened in for 45 minutes and were happy to let me go home. I'd call them there they were more than obliging when I went. With all the movements I'm sure it'll all be absolutely fine, but better to get it checked out than spend the next two weeks worrying

StargazyDrifter · 29/04/2019 18:13

Thanks so much for your thoughts, everyone. Yes, this was the formal 28 week appt (bit overdue as I'm 30 weeks now). DH and I are going to stop by triage on our way home. Nothing in the notes and she also didn't measure the size. As you all say, better to have peace of mind.

DianaBlythe · 29/04/2019 18:31

@SeptemberDays I have just been a bridesmaid for a friend at 29+5. It wasn’t a bridesmaid dress but the cut was quite well designed (Wed2b Haven). I ordered two sizes too big and thought I’d have it taken in but actually didn’t really need to. Had a lovely dressmaker who moved the waist band to up above my bump and just shortened the straps a little, all for £20. I went to see her at 23 weeks and she assessed what would likely need done then booked me back in a week before to actually do the work. I’m afraid I’ve no idea of my waist size, other than massive. Was previously an 8-10, the rest of me doesn’t look vastly difference but more of a 10 and my boobs are bigger.

What’s the dress like? Is it that the style is chosen but you haven’t ordered? How has the bride been and how would she like to play things?

StargazyDrifter · 29/04/2019 20:55

Back from triage, all good, regular and solid heartbeat. Previous MW was looking for the heartbeat in completely the wrong place and they were a bit Hmm that she let me go. Glad I went. Baby woke up to the sound of her own heart and started kicking around!

DianaBlythe · 29/04/2019 21:10

@Stargazydrifter - so relieved to hear that! Bless the baby waking up at the noise! So cute!

Kentishgal · 29/04/2019 21:16

Great news stargazydrifter!

blueeyedviking · 29/04/2019 21:19

Yeeey @stargazydrifter . Im really glad you went ☺

Yukka · 29/04/2019 21:27

good news @stargazydrifter bit worrying about the other midwife but it just goes to show you will get support at the hospital.

trukevoli · 29/04/2019 21:45

So it has been ages since I posted but find it hard to. Had a really scary day today. 28 week appointment at midwife and they spoke about my last birth and decided that I need to see a consultant. Also had additional worries as my urine had alot of visible wee in it a few weeks ago with no uti present so being referred to obstetrics and urologist so need to see consultant about that. Then bump measurement was very much too small so emergency scan to be told that baby is too big and I may have gestational diabetes so am having that tested. All the while I also have strep B.

Absolutely petrified of having a c section. Baby is due at the start of summer holidays, no driving and a 4 year old living in the middle of nowhere sounds like hell!

My last pregnancy was nice a simple. This is completely different.

Will catch up on everyone else now just needed to get that off my chest!

blueeyedviking · 29/04/2019 22:26

@trukevoli Good to see you back! What a day you have had, you must be exhausted taking all of that in. I'm consultant led as well, although for different things, but at least it gives you more chances to hopefully see the baby and also be closely monitored. It must all be a shock tho, finding out everything on the same day.

trukevoli · 29/04/2019 22:32

@blueeyedviking I thought I would be consultant led after my last birth. I haemorrhaged and tore so was expecting that and dont mind being consultant led. I am hoping I have the same experience as last time even when things were going wrong I was blissfully unaware and in my own world.
It's all the other things I am worried about but looking forward to talking it all through with a consultant. Just 2 weeks of worry between now and then.

StargazyDrifter · 29/04/2019 23:27

Oh trukevoli that sounds a tough and anxious day. Good they're looking after you and checking you thoroughly. Hope all goes well.

For those pondering weight gain before, one more thing the better MW said today was that, on average, you'd gain 10-14kg over an entire pregnancy. I've gained 3-4kg at 30 weeks but she said that was fine as grown charts were within normal range. She said it will all pile on a bit later - far for BF, baby fattening up and more liquid. Mmm can't wait!

Giraffe888 · 30/04/2019 07:37

@stargazydrifter I’m glad you got checked and all ok. I don’t like the sound of all that weight gain at the end!!!

@trukevoli hope you’re ok and not too anxious. I know it’s easier said than done!

BeckyButterfly · 30/04/2019 07:50

@StargazyDrifter thanks for weight gain info. I've been a bit worried because I've already gained 3kg which felt like a lot at 28 weeks but I suppose that isn't bad at all! It sounds better in kgs as well rather than lbs. It's 6lb which feels like a lot but 3kg doesn't sound bad at all 😂

Giraffe888 · 30/04/2019 08:26

Is anyone else getting hot flushes?

I’m still getting them daily. I suddenly go really hot and feel faint, dizzy and weak x

thedust · 30/04/2019 09:42

I've gained 12kg already 😂

Just nearly at the airport, the 50 minute drive along the bumpy rural Turkish roads has been a test for my pelvic floor! Back to reality tomorrow, don't want to go back to work, could quite happily start my mat leave now! Only 5 more weeks to go.

Capybaras · 30/04/2019 11:15

I've gained 9kg, but lost a fair bit in the first trimester so actually gained quite a lot! Doesn't help that I still vomit if I feel hungry/don't eat, so am constantly grazing to make sure that doesn't happen!

@Yukka the hypnobirthing course I did on Saturday was great - made me feel really positive and actually quite excited about the birth!

30 weeks now, Can't believe how soon we could all be having our babies! Does anyone have any good book recommendations on what you actually do once baby is here? Or do you just rely on google etc?

No hot flushes here @Giraffe888 but I have found I'm a lot less able to cope with being hot, and feel pretty hot most of the time. I've been sat in work in little vest tops with the window open whilst my colleagues have thick jumpers and a fan heater on!

Capybaras · 30/04/2019 11:17

I'm also finding that my mat jeans are starting to cut in a bit and have a long way to go yet! Still not that big, but bump has grown upwards rather than out (if that makes sense) so maybe that's why.

blueeyedviking · 30/04/2019 11:34

I get hot flushes @Giraffe888 - they come out of nowhere to be honest!

Think I've gained 7kg, mostly my boobs and the baby. Starting to notice it in my face too so another 10 weeks shall be interesting!

RooKangaroo · 30/04/2019 13:16

@blueeyedviking - that's appalling! Thank god for your DH noticing the prescription. That could have been so dangerous :(

@trukevoli - that all sounds so stressful, I'm so sorry. Glad they've got you under their monitoring now though, and you can all decide the next course of action. And if it is an ELCS, the fact that it will be planned and organised will make things much more peaceful, lead to a much better and faster recovery, and help to ensure baby comes out as safely as possible.

I'm just hot all the time too! I'm boiling at work all the time and have to sit down a lot otherwise I start to feel dizzy with it. I'm usually a proper sun worshipper but I have to sit in the shade now because I get too hot very quickly.

I've basically stopped wearing my mat jeans for any length of time now because I find that they dig in a lot under my bump, where they go from being fabric to being jeans. I can't tolerate anything putting pressure there especially because the bean seems to like to kick me there a lot which is made worse by restrictive clothing.

I'm sat at the hospital waiting for my consultant appointment. I feel like I'm here all the time! I think it's just because I was here for my GD test last Thursday.

Jxtina86 · 30/04/2019 13:56

Hot flushes galore over here too. Constantly walk into meeting rooms and everyone else claims it's icy cold with the air con and I'm sat there thinking it's the perfect temp!

30 weeks today too. 5 weeks left at work although due to the bank holidays and some holiday I've got mostly 4-day weeks till I go.

Think we're almost there with the big purchases. I started getting stuff for my hospital bag at the weekend too. Any recommendations on where to get button up pjs or nighties?! I tried Primark but they didn't have much unfortunately.

Also what about changing bags?! I'm not liking any of the ones I've seen so far. Prefer a backpack style but thinking of just using a normal backpack and using something like the Skip Hop Pronto inside it...
