I had to have a good rummage in my wardrobe this morning! I found 2 maxi skirts from last year that if I pull over my bump they sit just below my knee so are perfect! Wore one today with a vest top. Need to buy some bigger size vest tops though x

Giraffe888 · 20/04/2019 18:22

I’m 26wks today so just done my bump pic. Definitely grown a noticeable amount in this last week! X

StargazyDrifter · 20/04/2019 18:52

Yes definitely a bit of a struggle to find bottoms when over-bump jeans and trousers feel too hot. I had to use a hair band to keep my skirt in place today as it wouldn't fasten even really low down under the bump. Old tops just about ok still but I normally carry some weight around my middle so usually tend to go for baggier ones.

TwinkleDay · 20/04/2019 19:55

How is everyone doing on stretch marks, 30 weeks here and they are really quite noticeable when I look in a mirror at the underside of my tummy... been using my expert midwife fantastic skin elastic for past 18 weeks and had no itching whatsoever but have read that stretch marks are hard to avoid if inherited and the weight so far has been 10kg or 22lbs mostly on my tummy but I have a longer bump :/ x

Giraffe888 · 20/04/2019 20:51

@twinkleday I’ve not got any yet. I used to be a lot bigger (I lost 7 stone about 5 yrs ago) so I’m hoping that because I used to be big my skin has got the elasticity in it so I won’t get any! X

Chinks123 · 20/04/2019 21:51

No stretch marks here, didn’t get any last time apart from one on my boob! But my boobs haven’t grown this time so, no nothing. Only 25 weeks though so there’s time.

I’ve actually been really comfy in the sun, just worn a really floaty stretchy maxi dress for the past 2 days. Just been to Sainsbury’s and bought him a few bits with the 25% off, they have some really cute little outfits.

StargazyDrifter · 20/04/2019 23:01

Not stretch marks here either, apart from a couple of tiny ones on my boobs. I've not been using anything up to now, but have just got a new richer moisturiser as my skin is somehow quite dry all over even though it's warmer.

BeckyButterfly · 21/04/2019 00:44

@Yukka I got my rocking chair second hand from Facebook marketplace. It's like a big padded one which slides more than rocks I would say. It has a footstool as well.

Yukka · 21/04/2019 06:58

Thanks @beckybutterfly I look again on gumtree/eBay.

No stretch marks here ivf got both a bio oil gel and my friend bought me a Neals Yard bee’s wax rub which she swore by and it leaves my skin softer than ever.

Capybaras · 21/04/2019 07:59

No stretch marks here yet either, although I think it's only a matter of time as I have them on my hips, thighs and boobs from puberty so definitely predisposed to them! Using bloom and blossom stretch mark oil twice a day to try and help (even though apparently creams/oils do nothing, if you're going to get them, you'll get them). It's nice to massage bump every day though!
I'm struggling with what to wear - ordered a few things from ASOS to try and get me through, although I imagine it'll get cold now I've invested in them!

blueeyedviking · 21/04/2019 08:03

@yukka I got the below one in a sale; www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/baby/baby-bedroom/nursing-chairs/babylo-milan-glider-chair-and-footstool-white-grey/p/162885?gclid=Cj0KCQjwhuvlBRCeARIsAM720Ho6mwJjC6oHXYdJpyrS8o7vTZa_K2DUPuhwDZMkREKfq06oPyk2VD8aApiAEALw_wcB

So comfy! Both the chair and stool has a rocking motion.

We put together our nursery furniture yesterday and with the cot bed it will be quite cramped. So going to return that and get a smaller one. Picking up a snuzpod this morning that we got half prize so quite happy about that!

How do you monitor movment? I downloaded an app yesterday and it freaked me out a bit as he wasnt very active yesterday... I barely slept as just waiting for him to move (which he is doing just not as active).

TwinkleDay · 21/04/2019 08:31

See baby events coming up this week again ladies

I don't have any stretch marks yet either apart from the ones I've had on my boobs since they sprouted over night in my teenage years! I moisturise every so often with a Palmers Cocoa butter stretch mark cream but not very often. We shall see what happens.

@blueeyedviking I started using the Kicks Count app but I found myself obsessing over it so I stopped. Now I just make a mental note of when I feel her. Her routine is pretty much that she moves when I'm in bed. So as long as I feel her when I wake up and then before I go to sleep, I'm happy.

Jxtina86 · 21/04/2019 14:25

@TwinkleDay ooh thanks for posting that! I had the email about the Boots one but wasn't aware of the Lidl one. That's tomorrow sorted then!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. I came down with a horrible cold on Wednesday so have spent most of it inside sleeping and generally trying to rest up which seems to have done the trick as feeling much better. I'm not usually one to revert to wanting all the meds but it was so frustrating not being able to take anything especially at night when I kept waking up struggling to breathe! Oh well the worst has passed and lying in bed meant I got to feel and appreciate all the kicks and squirms from baby 😊

Nobhobs · 21/04/2019 15:30

Hi all. I've been a bit of a lurker rather than a poster on this thread but I'm also due in July. Currently 26+3.
I've got an anterior placenta so I've only been feeling movement for a few weeks, I'm trying to keep an eye out for a pattern. Baby only seems to kick when I'm stretched back on the sofa pushing my tummy forward (guessing this is the angle I need to be to feel him through the placenta) but there's no correlation with certain times of day, it's just when I get a chance to sit down in that position.
Does that seem normal? For a pattern to not be to do with timings but circumstances?

BeckyButterfly · 21/04/2019 18:56

@Nobhobs hello! I'm anterior too and I find the same thing. I get more movement when I'm lying in bed. So if I go to bed late, I don't get movements till late if that makes sense 😊 I think the position we are in means that we can feel the movements more.

Capybaras · 21/04/2019 19:23

Hi @Nobhobs (great name!) I've also got an anterior placenta and find my baby moves most when lying on my back or when eating, so suppose that's circumstantial! I'm assuming in constitutes a pattern as that's how I'm monitoring mine but definitely something worth checking with you midwife - always better to be reassured by them! I rang the midwives earlier on in the week as baby's movements had changed (hadn't felt him all evening from eating, lying down etc) and they were so lovely when I called, so definitely worth checking!

DianaBlythe · 21/04/2019 19:46

Not checked in in a while. No stretch marks here. Haven’t been religious with the bio oil but finding it really lovely for DH to do it before bed. Lovely to have that calm, chatting time with some touching. Probably something we should have been making time for pregnancy or not!

Was bridesmaid for a friend yesterday at 29+5 and it was so lovely. Long day though, hair and makeup from 7:30am, lots of dancing and no bed until 1:45. Felt really good but rather tired today and a bit stiff in my back.

I’ve generally been finding I don’t like things over the bump - been mostly wearing dresses and sometimes having my tights under bump. I’ve got a few things though which are comfy over, I think I just maybe don’t like my New Look Emilee jeans! Got over bump shorts from Blooming Marvellous which have been comfortable today! Been feeling a bit uncomfortable though at the bottom of the bump and wonder if it’s because of all the unsupported standing and dancing yesterday!

We’ve now come down to stay with DH’s best friend and wife who had a baby 11 weeks ago. They’ve put aside loads of stuff for us and it was so lovely to have a go of all their bits and pieces and do bed and bath routine and just chat. All feeling seriously real now!

They also inherited a second hand Silver Cross Wayfarer which they’re not using as they’ve got a Quinny they prefer. Wasn’t on our list but they’ve said we can have for £50 which is amazing. Has car seat, carry cot, adaptors, footmuff and rain cover. We can at least use it initially whilst we work out what we really want - I was getting a bit overwhelmed! And it might be it’s all we need. MIL was going to buy us a travel system, hopefully she won’t mind or be too upset but it does just seem to make sense. Feel incredibly lucky!

And scared!

Happy Easter everyone! Hope things are calm for all.

MrsNai · 21/04/2019 20:01

29+3 here and yesterday I got food poisoning so today has been a bit if a wipeout. On the bright side the midwife advised that Dioralyte is safe in pregnancy, and when breastfeeding, so recommended that followed by lucozade. Just braved a cracker and feeling a bit brighter after a rest.

The midwife also mentioned that it is worth avoiding rice when eating out during pregnancy as it is such a high risk for food poisoning.

If anyone is having hip and lower back pain or starting to find the bottom of their bump aches I highly recommend Asda's maternity knickers. You have to order them in and they do make Granny knickers look tiny but oh my! So comfortable and supportive!

Asda did have some maternity wear on sale, as do Debenhams but all to order online only.

blueeyedviking · 22/04/2019 14:33

Rant alert... Due to back issues I cant stand for long, cant do much around the house, not sleeping well + all the other standard pregnancy pains. I cant sit outside as too hot and I saw photos of myself from a lunch yesterday which didn't help.... Today I decide to bake my cinnamon rolls which I've done so many times, and messed up something so they were awful 😬

I know this is nothing in the scheme of things, but my emotions are def getting the better of me. At least he is super active so that makes me smile.

Oh and my mother in law stayed over so she pointed out things she doesn't like about our newly renovated house. Again.

Jxtina86 · 22/04/2019 17:13

@blueeyedviking I totally sympathise on the emotions front. Feel free to rant away on here! I'm finding that I'm more prone to just exploding into hysterical tears at the slightest frustration - the joy of hormones I guess?! Imagine we'll all have our fair share over the final months, but hopefully we can all see each other through and out the other side.

Picked up a few bits and pieces at the Lidl baby event today - baby monitor being the best buy as it had been one that DH had already eyed up online and it was by far the cheapest price he'd seen anywhere. Also got a bath/room thermometer and some short sleeved suits for 2-6 months and some long sleeved ones in 6-12. Also saw on Amazon that the Tommee Tippee healthcare kit was reduced down to £11.99 So ordered that too (our Lidl didn't seem to have any but apparently are doing then for 9.99)

stephn88 · 22/04/2019 17:19

I had a meltdown including crying at the pub last week because they forgot to put whipped cream on my hot chocolate! 🙈
My hormones are outrageous right now! Lol

JSCRJ · 22/04/2019 18:08

Sorry to hear you've had a bad day @blueeyedviking, I'm a bundle of rage this afternoon so I sympathise with you. I've mostly been annoyed that I want to be outside, but it's too hot for me to just just sit there and I did all the jobs I wanted to do out there yesterday, so....! I'm sure a Pimms would fix this, oh wait! 😡

TwinkleDay · 22/04/2019 20:30

@stephn88 a hot chocolate ? What micro climate are you in most of the uk have been scorching in the sun☀️ lol!

This weekend we have painted a fence, painted babies room... just need to do my motif, tidied up our room and cleared room for baby to get in, been out for a roast, and planted up the garden with flowers and bedding plants :). Even unpacked Moses basket to air and will start sticking some of our clothes in it before they go in the wash so It doesn't smell so foreign. also washed all gifted baby clothes on the line so done about half of that and got new stuff to do / wash in a couple of weeks too.

We start our nct classes tommorow evening too!! All becoming more real x

StargazyDrifter · 22/04/2019 20:48

blueeyedviking I have a huge amount of sympathy with your rant. I cried in a restaurant toilet this weekend because the sink was too wide and, because of the bump, I couldn't lean forward towards the mirror to touch up my lipstick! Completely ridiculous, I don't even wear lipstick that much. Apparently 76 more days of this to go! (According to my app.)
