@StargazyDrifter that's a shame about your massage. When I've been for a pregnancy massage, they had a special seat which was the most comfortable thing I've ever sat on!

TwinkleDay · 19/04/2019 07:25

@onestep2 good on you with the organisation club and happy 30 weeks!

Walking is lovely but I am starting to struggle now too... at 26 I did walk 9 miles in a day and was fine with it but back in the regular world can't fit that type of exercise in.

We are decorating baby's room this weekend.. and since the weather is so nice washing machine is on for lots and will start getting some baby stuff through too... though only one of my neighbours knows I'm pregnant so I wonder if the other one will figure it out too with all the stuff on the line!

Capybaras · 19/04/2019 08:44

Oh I really want to have a pregnancy massage @StargazyDrifter I assumed you lay on your side for it, can imagine sitting down isn't as relaxing!
We're skint now too for this month so will have to hold off on buying for baby! Still haven't got a cot, but as they don't go in there till they're 6 months we've got time (we have next2me)

Yukka · 19/04/2019 10:11

Hi everyone, still on our jollies in Majorca but it’s cloudy here today and you guys are getting all the good weather :) been a lovely week though chilling out and reading.

I had a pregnancy massage on Monday, it was lush lay on my side with towels to support and she went all up and down my back and neck. I was on my back at the end for neck massage and only twice she put her hand on bump and my forehead at the same time as a calming/ connecting thing. It was lovely and she really knew her stuff. Shame yours wasn’t so good @stargazeydrifter it does sound a little odd to have you on a stool?

Can I ask those of you going ‘plump in the face’ do you know what your having? Old wives tale says it’s girls....?

Also some of you lost weight in the first trimester, and midwife goes by booking appointment weight as first measure, are you including your weight loss now as weight gain or just ignoring it and following midwife?

Home tomo, been reading Hollie da Cruz hypnobirthing book, highly recommend as it has lots of other general info in there on birthing and some breathing exercises.

Hope you all have a super weekend :)

BeckyButterfly · 19/04/2019 11:41

@Capybaras we don't have the cot yet either but have said the same thing as you about not needing it till she's 6 months so I'm trying not to worry.
We were supposed to be getting my little sisters' old nursery furniture from my dad but he can't find the cot...! So we hadn't really accounted for needing to buy nursery furniture! I am trying not to panic about it but with my Anxiety Disorder the way it is, it's very hard not to 😬 I have found a nursery furniture set on the Argos website which I like for £370 which is really good but we don't have that money to spend at the minute. My dad is very laid back about the whole thing and his response was basically oh well, I can't seem to find the cot.

StargazyDrifter · 19/04/2019 13:46

On the massage, it was a Cowshed one and the lady said at the start their policy has changed recently and they no longer allow pregnanct women to lie on the side?! Seems a bit odd since it's only for a short while and we are told to sleep on the side as that's safest. Seems bizarre.

Yukka I'm one of the plump in the face bridade! Expecting a girl. I've noticed that my nose has sort of got blobbier with all of this, too. Just lovely. Have only put on 4kg since the start, but that's only because of hyperemesis weight loss. I just go from booking in weight, though no one has weighed me since booking and I'm 29 weeks. (Your hols sound lovely btw!)

We don't have a cot or next-to-me sleeper yet Becky. The pram we got is suitable for overnight sleeping so that will be our backup if she turns up mega-early (🤞not!) . We do need to get far more organised. Time seems to be speeding up!

Yukka · 19/04/2019 14:58

@stargazeydrifter thanks for that I’m still slim in the face and team yellow, but no boys in our family so I’m starting a wives tale list as a but of fun to see which I tick off.

My last weigh in was last week and officially gained 2kg but I lost I think 4 or 5kg up to 14 week point. Midwife commented it’s all baby weight, and baby was spot on weight and size at growth scan, but I am feeling quite round! Dh laughing at the size of my mat knickers....😱

Strange re cowshed policy I wonder if you went to a spa type place maybe they have different rules or training?

StargazyDrifter · 19/04/2019 15:19

Yukka if you were looking at all wives' tales, have a look at the one where you wee on bicarb of soda (discussed on here at the v start). Mine was accurate. But the internet says no science to back it up.

Capybaras · 19/04/2019 15:31

@Yukka I'm having a boy and I've only gained weight to my bump. None on the face/anywhere else. Bump is also quite neat (it's actually narrow and long, but that may be because I'm tall), whereas I always thought those carrying girls seem to have a more spread out bump, and carry the weight elsewhere. The girls stealing your beauty thing I don't believe as I've had all the spots with this boy!

blueeyedviking · 19/04/2019 15:34

Happy Easter everyone. We are spending the weekend in the garden. DH has taken down a shed and ive been watching/cleaning. And now i have no energy left. Hate not being able to help.

We got loads of nursery furniture delivered today. Made it even more real. Still missing so many things though..

JSCRJ · 19/04/2019 15:44

I'm also someone fattening up in the face and we're expecting a girl too. This is the only old wives tale so far that seems to have applied to me!

Had a rollercoaster 24 hours. Went along to my 28 midwife appointment yesterday and it was all going fine until she listened in on the heart and it was fluctuating between beating really fast and then much slower. Midwife listened a couple of times and decided she wasn't happy so sent me to triage at the hospital where the hooked me up to an ECG and monitored the baby for 45 minutes. They could see that it was up and down, but not so much that they were concerned so let me go home and have said I need to pay close attention to the movements, so I feel like I'm going to really fret about this now. I was strangely calm about it all at the time but it's come as a bit of a shock as I was having such a straight-forward pregnancy so far. I was telling my boss about it this morning and ended up crying my eyes out (which was a bit embarrassing!). Pregnancy is such a time of great highs and lows isn't it?! I have a busy job and definitely don't feel like I'm not coping with the pressure as well as I was. Already making plans to start handing my work over and taking some of the stress away, yesterday was a bit of a wake up call.

Hope you're all having lovely sunny Easter weekends

thedust · 19/04/2019 16:52

Fat face here... apparently. And also expecting a girl!

Went to the new h&m in Liverpool today that had a great maternity section back when I didn't really need it. Now it's about 2 racks of just jeans and vests and has been taken over with sports stuff! I wanted some maternity knickers. Made do with just getting some big knickers instead. Hate having to order all the maternity clothes online.

Kentishgal · 19/04/2019 17:49

JSCRJ that's frightening, glad they were satisfied having monitored you but equally not nice that you now feel on alert and are having the worry. Will they bring you back to check again soon?

BeckyButterfly · 19/04/2019 17:59

@JSCRJ that mustn't have been a fun experience for you! I'm with you on the work front. I just don't feel like I have the energy or motivation to dedicate any where near as much time to it as I used to. I've been off for the Easter and have a to do list as long as my arm which I still haven't started! I just can't get going with anything and I start to feel emotional as soon as I think of everything I need to get done. I've always dealt really well with stress and have always worked very hard at my job but it seems that's all gone out the window in pregnancy!

I'm having a girl and have gained no weight anywhere else but my bump. I'm actually finding that I've dropped a dress size everywhere but my belly. People at work keep saying that my bump will start to spread because I'm having a girl but in 26 weeks and still carrying all on my bump.

StargazyDrifter · 19/04/2019 18:04

JSCRJ that's really quite a rollercoaster, sorry you had to go through that. Go you for holding it all together for you and bump in the moment. I know what you mean about being all shaken up afterwards as it sinks in, that's not nice. I hope you've got something lovely and soothing to try and do this weekend, even if you do have to be extra vigilant. In case helpful, I've found that the bump now responds to loud music with a low beat and direct sunlight, as well as me drinking cold water. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly from here and sending you enormous good wishes from a very rickety train.

Giraffe888 · 19/04/2019 21:36

I’m all bump too. Not put any weight on other than that and I’m having a boy

Not started packing hospital bag yet but I want to in the next few weeks, I can’t wait!

Got 2 days off now. It’s our 1st wedding anniversary tomorrow. We were going to go to Whitby for the day but I don’t fancy the 2hr each way journey with my back pain and it will be really busy so I don’t think we’re going to bother. Will do something else nice instead x

Kentishgal · 20/04/2019 06:45

I was all bump (having a girl) but after a week of intense biscuit eating I can feel myself becoming a little bit chunkier - all fluid retention. Last time I ask everyone what they thought I was having based on shape of bump and every single person, except one woman, said boy - and I had a girl! So not sure it's true.

blueeyedviking · 20/04/2019 08:01

Morning all. Ive mostly gained on bump and breasts, but i can feel my appetite increasing a bit now.

@JSCRJ - wow that sounds very stressful and scary. Glad to hear you and the baby are ok. I'm the same re job. It's so difficult to balance it all.

My little boy kicked me so hard last night that it hurt... anyone else had that? I'm 28+3 now and feels like he is getting stronger very quickly.

Yukka · 20/04/2019 08:08

@stargazeydrifter thanks I missed that I’ll try it this weekend :)

@JSCRJ hope you’re feeling ok just go straight back if you’re worried but I don’t imagine they’d send you home if they were concerned (I hope)

@blueeyeddiving I’m 26w now and had a few sharp kicks this week especially downward kicks and deff a bit of lighting pain too which takes your breath away. I find it’s worse if ive eaten a lot and not been to the loo, I assume everything getting just a bit squished, then it seems better.

StargazyDrifter · 20/04/2019 08:41

blueeyedviking I'm 28+6 and this week's kicks have definitely been much stronger. Great big acrobatic ones with what we assume are either elbows or knees poking out on the outside of my round belly. Then there are the big night time kicks that wake me up. Also the sharp upward kicks after food. Yesterday we discovered a new thing - the bump isn't a fan of high speed trains, especially inside a tunnel, there was some serious kicking in retaliation for that. We thought maybe it was the pressure changes or something. There's definitely a little entity in there now!

ReginaPhalange89 · 20/04/2019 08:48

Morning all!
I'm 26+5 today and babies movements were huge when I was laying in bed this morning ! Up til now it's just been little kicks here and there but this morning it was like he was doing gymnastics or something lol. Feels so lovely , finally starting to feel really pregnant!

I feel the opposite with the carrying for each sex, I've had girls previously, my last pregnancy I was all bump, neat too, didn't put on much weight anywhere else. This time it's a boy and I feel like I'm expanding everywhere 🙈 could be due to the fact I've had a massive appetite since the first tri though I suppose.

blueeyedviking · 20/04/2019 09:51

So good to hear I'm not the only one who thinks its painful! I've got a pattern for him too now so that quite reassuring.

We (well DH is) are building our nursery furniture today. I put together my nursing chair, so comfy! Just hope everything fits in the room... 😬

BeckyButterfly · 20/04/2019 12:02

@blueeyedviking my nursery rocking chair is the only piece of furniture in there at the minute 😂 I keep going and sitting on it because it's so comfortable. I could happily have a little snooze in there!

Yukka · 20/04/2019 12:37

Any recommendations on the rocking chairs? Is the main thing I’ve not chosen yet some really expensive vs some in ikea that aren’t quite rocking chairs but do move.

Just arrived home from hols to this awesome weather :( been listening to all sorts of music this week, baby deff likes the sound of Bradley coopers voice from a star is born and a bit of country beats music...anyone making a playlist for birthing?

JSCRJ · 20/04/2019 17:51

Thanks everyone for your messages. All good here, been feeling some nice strong movements so I'm going to try to not worry, and continue to enjoy the journey. The mw messaged yesterday to ask how we were, which was nice of her, and she said if there had been any worry, they wouldn't have let me leave.

Anyone else struggling to find appropriate clothing for this warm snap? I've been having to dig deep in to my wardrobe these past few days. Apparently things that were baggy pre-pregnancy are not quite so baggy now! Haha!
