@jscrj do they weigh you? I didn't think they did anymore, I've just been weighing myself out of morbid curiosity. I've got my 28 week appointment on 3rd May but I'll actually be closer to 30 weeks because of the bank holidays and being away.

Can't believe they said that to you! I would never mention it even if I thought it. I know your thighs get bigger because of hormones/fat storage for milk. I can deal with that and wear dresses and skirts. But my face! Can't hide that 😂 DH says I still look the same to him and it's only my belly that's grown.

JSCRJ · 17/04/2019 18:12

Haha! @thedust I wasn't too offended, I know the girl quite well and she didn't mean to be rude (I don't think!). I nearly told her that her face was fatter too as I haven't seen her for a couple of months, but thought better of it!

I really hope they don't weigh me, I don't think I want to know...!!

StargazyDrifter · 17/04/2019 18:57

RooKangaroo I'm not sure there's an actual medical cut off, like with the 12 week measurements where you can't get them as easily later on. Probably more of a Trust preference. I suppose if you know you're at risk there's no harm chasing up? The worry I think is that untreated GD lets the baby get too big?

I turned up at my hospital after work and it took 45 minutes of being passed to different managers to get a GTT slot sorted, but they did find one for next week. They seem to be v busy with these tests where I am, the slot was due to a cancellation.

JSCRJ and thedust my face is also fattening up, I was actually thinking of asking one of the ridiculously young people in my team to talk me through contouring in case that helps. But another part of me thinks just go with it.

Energy levels also running low here, I only have a month or so to go at work but even that feels like a massive slog. Everything is getting difficult. I suppose size and squished organs come into it at this point.

The baby has been ridiculously active over the last 24 hours and getting really quite strong with it. It's really lovely even if I did a couple of othetic yelps out loud earlier.

Chinks123 · 17/04/2019 19:04

Just leaving my maternity unit as I’ve come in with reduced movements. I haven’t felt him all day and he normally doesn’t stop from the moment I wake up.

Had a listen in and he’s in a really awkward position but absolutely fine. So relieved!! Looking forward to him moving back and feeling him again.

The ladies were lovely and gave me and dd chocolates. They also told me to keep the belt strap things “for next time.” Wonder if it’s for hygiene or something?

StargazyDrifter · 17/04/2019 19:06

Chinks123 that's great news! Must have been quite a worry and a load off your mind now. What belt straps, though? I don't think I've seen that yet.

Chinks123 · 17/04/2019 19:24

I’d been putting it off all day @StargazyDrifter thinking “he’ll move in a minute.” But he never did. Luckily my hospital is 2 minutes away, so between ringing up and being seen I was back home in half an hour.

Someone else upthread mentioned they’d been given the straps to keep, which they don’t normally do. The stretchy elastic straps they put round to strap your monitor on. Sorry I’m useless at describing things!

StargazyDrifter · 17/04/2019 19:34

How interesting about the straps! A whole new thing to look forward to.

When I was in the hospital trying to sort my GTT, there was a lady, about 30-32 weeks I'd say, leaving one of the MW rooms w her man in absolutely inconsolable tears. It was so sad to see, I keep coming back to it. A kind of reminder not to take any of it for granted, I suppose, and to always check stuff even if it feels like a nuisance. Hopefully she's ok and it was just a hormone-fuelled overreaction to something.

Chinks123 · 17/04/2019 19:45

I only had them on in labour last time @StargazyDrifter. I never had any of these worries with dd. They did say they were glad I went in and that I hadn’t wasted their time.

I know what you mean; even though it was just a scare I’m realising all the things I was stressing about earlier don’t matter at all as long as he’s ok. Soppy I know, but at my last scan a lady came out in tears and I heard her saying it was bad news. Just can’t wait to hold him now!

Giraffe888 · 17/04/2019 21:43

I’ve been quietly reading but not had chance to post!

I’m glad all is ok @chinks123, definitely best to get checked

I’ve had a job interview today for promotion to temporary store manager. My manager goes on maternity leave in 2wks so I’ve applied for her job until I go on maternity leave.

I feel like I’ve properly got baby brain, I feel like my head has gone to mush!!! Hopefully won’t have to wait too long to find out how I’ve done! Baby was kicking/moving all through the interview which kept distracting me!

Hope everyone is ok x

BeckyButterfly · 18/04/2019 12:16

Has anyone starting packing their hospital bag yet?

thedust · 18/04/2019 12:55

@chinks123 what a relief, glad all is ok!

@giraffe888 good luck, hope you hear back soon.

@beckybutterfly not even thought about it! I did just pick up some lovely disposable maternity briefs though from ASDA on my lunch. Will think about it when we're back from our holiday maybe.

StargazyDrifter · 18/04/2019 13:02

I haven't stated packing a bag either, waiting to do NCT in May first. But we have also been picking up stuff on offer like disposable undies and, at DH's insistence, snacks!

With the GTT - how did you all feel in the afternoon? Would you do an important meeting at work after one of those or does it mess things up a bit for the rest of the day? I'm no good without breakfast at the best of times!

BeckyButterfly · 18/04/2019 13:07

I’m pleased other people have thought about it yet. I haven’t even bought anything! I have a few baby grows and sleep suits which I think I’ll take. Other than that, I’m pretty much clueless! I thought I’d wait till I get to 30 weeks then I’ll start to sort it out.
I just keep panicking that I won’t be at all ready if I go into labour early haha. A friend of mine had her baby at 27 weeks pregnant and I just keep thinking about that!

BeckyButterfly · 18/04/2019 13:07

However, I do think that if that happened, your hospital bag would be the last thing on your mind!

Jxtina86 · 18/04/2019 13:17

@StargazyDrifter mine fell on my usual work from home day so I didn't have to make it back into the office. I felt a bit light headed in the morning before the test but it was manageable and the drink they give you seemed to help me feel a bit more with it. You have to pretty much sit still for the 2 hour wait (some people in the room just went to sleep!) And then once I had the second blood test, I scoffed a cereal bar and banana on the way home and felt like myself. I was back at the laptop by half 11 or so and just made sure I had regular snacks in the afternoon to keep my energy up.

onestep2 · 18/04/2019 13:51

im not going to lie.... i have my hosptial bag all packed LOL

House renovations are finishing tomorrow.. FINALLLLY. babys room is all done and dusted. furniture and cot built. hospital bag all packed! im all organised and ready to go.... ...and now realise i have 10 more weeks to wait twiddles thumbs.

now what?????

thedust · 18/04/2019 16:14

@stargazydrifter I did feel a bit rotten all afternoon and groggy. I went into work but I wasn't very productive!

@onestep2 omg, I am feeling really unorganised now! We are still waiting for our cot and pram to be delivered.

Although I've got 12 weeks left to go, the thought of the baby being early has crossed my mind. Trying not to think about that until we're back from our holiday though - can't imagine the stress of having a premature baby abroad!

StargazyDrifter · 18/04/2019 17:06

Thanks Jxtina86 and thedust, it's a substantial chat with someone I manage so I think I'll try and put it off just in case I'm not on it.

onestep OMG! That's super impressive. Go you. I always really admire people with superior organisational skills! 🙈

Kentishgal · 18/04/2019 17:25

Oh my God, I think I packed my bag at about 39/40 weeks last time! Still got 12 weeks left in work so not in a hurry!!

Jxtina86 · 18/04/2019 18:49

Just got home to a letter saying that my 28 week bloods weren't suitable for analysis so need to be done again! I've got my 28 week appt on Tuesday and was told they want the bloods done beforehand so they can check the results then. So much for getting them done at my GTT like I was advised too...!

ReginaPhalange89 · 18/04/2019 18:55

I feel super unorganised 🙈 we're changing all the rooms around, swapping the toddler into a different room etc. Then we have to paint and put flooring down in 3 of the bedrooms .... We haven't even started any of that yet! I'm starting to get the fear we won't have done it in time ! OH says he's ordering the flooring tonight so at least that's a start haha.

Kentishgal · 18/04/2019 20:05

reginaphalange89 we're doing something similar so I've been busy doing my toddler's new bedroom - everything ordered aside from new flooring in her bathroom, which I figure we can do in due course, so hopefully everything will be delivered and she will move in there in May...well, that's the plan!!

Capybaras · 18/04/2019 21:12

Been away for a few days and so much to catch up on!
Had no thoughts about packing hospital bag, still feel a bit clueless about what to get despite looking at lists etc! We did buy our first nappies last week in Lidl so have something!
Starting to feel 'pregnant' now - we did a 6 mile coastal walk on Tuesday and we did take it slowly (DH was so lovely checking I was ok, carrying my bags etc) but god I was tired at the end! My hands swelled up too! Did a much smaller walk today and I really struggled, think the long walks may have to wait until baby is here! Also had some lovely yellowy stringy discharge which was a delight! Going to try and have a relaxed bank holiday now as I think I have overdone it!
Think baby is back-to-back as my bump is quite flat at the front, and my belly button is dipping in! DH took some pics of me before we went for food and it's so noticeable, looks really odd!
Hope everyone else is ok and has some nice plans for Easter!

BeckyButterfly · 18/04/2019 23:43

I'm not at all organised! I was doing really well and have my pram, Moses basket and car seat but we are a bit strapped for cash this month so having to hold off on any purchases for now.
I still have 14 weeks to go since I'm not due till the end of July so still a little while yet as long as all goes to plan 😊

StargazyDrifter · 19/04/2019 01:19

I'm also feeling the loss of energy. Did a longish (5 miles) National Trust walk with a friend and her LO on Monday and feel like I've only just recovered. At one point I was seriously at risk of losing my temper from the tiredness, while the toddler behaved impeccably! Previously that wouldn't have been anywhere near tiring.

Had a pregnancy massage earlier. Half of it was seated on a low stool, leaning forward with my arms folded on the massage table. Can't say it was great, difficult to relax in that position. The other half was lying on my back, which was better. They didn't touch the bump. Naively, I had sort of assumed they might. But it was more arms, legs, upper chest type stuff. Relaxing though it was, I wouldn't rush back for one of those in case anyone is considering it and would go for something like feet/head next time instead rather than sitting on that low stool again.
