Hope everything is ok @birthdayKake! Keep us updated

@giraffe888 my urine is tested there and then, although most times the midwife has found leucozytes and has to send it off but never hear anything back so must be fine !

I don't have a direct number for my midwife either, just the number for the midwife base and if that's closed called triage .

Anyone started having Braxton Hicks yet ? I seem to be getting some now , not painful just notice it sometimes my stomach goes hard ! Don't remember it starting this early (25 weeks) in last pregnancy !

Also is anyone feeling super unorganised? 🙈 We've got stuff piling up but ko where to put it ! Planning on rearranging the bedrooms but they all need decorated too, OH works such long hours I don't know when we're going to get stuff done and it's starting to panic me a bit now 🙈

StargazyDrifter · 08/04/2019 17:35

BirthdayKake very glad to hear it! We haven't DTD since conception 🙈 as still throwing up, but at least I will now know what might be the cause of brown bleeding after.

Kentishgal I've never had the pregnancy support belt thing but had something similar for a back injury and also found going to the loo tricky, and hotter weather too. I never tried the crutches but a two waking sticks around the house helped a bit at the time. Not sure if it's the same here though.

Regina I'm also feeling v v disorganised, rooms need decorating, more stuff needs to be bought, other stuff thrown out and I feel like we're behind already. We both work a silly amount and while we do bits and pieces we don't have a bigger plan to get it all sorted. And breathe.

BirthdayKake · 08/04/2019 17:46

@StargazyDrifter I don't blame you, I only stopped throwing up at 21 weeks. Not fussed at all about not being able to do it!

thedust · 08/04/2019 17:58

@Kentishgal I found the belt really uncomfortable too, more of a hindrance than a help. Have you had any physio and exercises given for it? Mine is caused by a weakness in a certain set of muscles on my bum and the exercises I've been given have actually really helped. I was really worried I'd end up on crutches too. I had to pay for a private physio and I've had 4 appointments and probably spent £140. It's not cheap but it's been worth it for me.

@BirthdayKake that's a relief! We haven't 'DTD' since the first trimester really, once bump started to get bigger I've just felt quite unsexy. We are going on our 'babymoon' in a fortnight though so we'll see...

cravingmilkshake · 08/04/2019 20:03

Hi all,

Just saw and bought these on amazon. £8. I'm going to be a first time mum and don't know what to get but thought these were a good bargain.

Someone else said the Aldi nappies are good too!

RooKangaroo · 08/04/2019 20:04

@BirthdayKake - do glad everything is ok?m! Must have been scary x

@StargazyDrifter - we haven't DTD either! I stopped properly throwing up around 20 weeks, but I still feel queasy in the mornings. Plus I'm exhausted and go to bed around 8pm. DH stays up until 10ish and I'm out like a log by the time he comes up. No idea where I'm going to get the time or energy for sex! 😆

OP posts:
TwinkleDay · 08/04/2019 20:07

@BirthdayKake glad all is well.. that is enough to put me off sex ... only done it 3 times since expecting... I don't think we will do it again unless trying to bring on labour - first baby here think they will be late

StargazyDrifter · 08/04/2019 20:26

Yes I know what you mean about not having the time or energy for sex Roo! I was just looking at some clothes in my wardrobe for our little Easter getaway and it crossed my mind that I really, really don't remember how I used to get all dressed up for things before. Seems like such a faff now!

Giraffe888 · 08/04/2019 20:36

@birthdaykake I’m so glad all is ok. We’ve only had sex 4 times since finding out I was pregnant too! X

Kentishgal · 08/04/2019 21:00

Gosh no not had sex since conception and won't be until long after baby is here! Yes some physio exercises but not really helping - but I don't think it's targeting the correct area. Such a relief for you *birthdaykake"!

Aimily · 08/04/2019 21:02

I've started touching people's belly when they touch my bump, or stroking their faces lovingly, the amount of people in my grandads pub that keep their hands off of me when I go in now is brilliant!

Aimily · 08/04/2019 21:08

Urgh! Sorry was reading through and playing catch up and posted early!

I can't remember half of what I wanted to say now in my shouty at phone moment. Hormones are everywhere.

My and oh haven't dtd in nearly 2 months because I just don't like being touched in general atm, think he's starting to feel neglected 😔

I do have a question about movement. This is my first and movement seemed to be only in the mornings to begin with, then over the weekend I didn't feel much, just pressure. Today at work I haven't felt anything, got home about 7ish and said if I didn't feel anything by about now, I'd ring the mat unit (my midwife is on hols this week) but the past hour has been nonstop kicks, does this mean bumps finding a new routine, and is it normal to feel next to no movement over a 2 day period?

Trying2bemum · 08/04/2019 21:15

Hi all xx

Glad everything is okay @BirthdayKake that must have been an awful scare

Sorry your plans fell through @StargazyDrifter although glad you've sorted something else. We've just had a night away in the New Forest for our wedding anniversary - it was good to get away even briefly. I've been getting really bad rib cage pain too, it's awful. Think my bras are not helping..

@ReginaPhalange89 I had my first Braxton-Hicks on Saturday, it scared the crap out of me. Didnt think those happened until the last weeks. I was convinced I was going into early labour Sad Hoping it doesn't happen again for a while!

Feeling pretty big and slower. Feeling bigger movements from baby as well as the kicks. Little monkey got comfy tucked on the right all day today so bump was lopsided, and could feel a hard lump to the side of my belly button. Can't tell if it's head or arse!

Will be 25 weeks Wednesday and looking forward to seeing the midwife next week to offload all my symptoms and worries!

A good friend has also offered us her snuzpod - she got it brand new and hadn't used it much so have said yes please! My mum also bought a lovely mothercare cot and a really good quality mattress for my nephew - who has steadfastly refused to go in it - so she's said we can have that if we want too. I've also booked our John Lewis nursery appointment to try out prams and find out about car seats etc in about a month! Want to get the spare room decorated and buy a chest of drawers with changing unit on top. That's as far as I've got mentally!

Giraffe888 · 08/04/2019 22:38

I’ve been having Braxton hicks for about 10 days. Thankfully I’d read about them on the Facebook page so I knew what it was! I get them most days.

I’ve had bad pains at the top of my tummy tonight, really painful! Thanks to whoever (sorry can’t remember!) said their physio said a lot is happening from 24 wks, at least I know it’s normal x

StargazyDrifter · 08/04/2019 22:51

Trying2bemum how lovely that you got away for your anniversary. Been laughing out loud at your arse vs head conundrum! 😂 Sounds like you've made huge progress on all the big stuff.

Braxton Hicks sound unnerving. I don't think I've had the pleasure yet!

BeckyButterfly · 09/04/2019 00:51

I’m with you on the not knowing if it’s head or arse! My bump is constantly lip sided when I’m lying in bed. As soon as I stand up she seems to comfy herself right down in my pelvis though so all the movement I feel is really internal and a bit uncomfortable!

Speaking of patterns in movement, I am finding that I’ll have one day of loads of movement then a day of very little. I think she does it on purpose to freak me out! Especially because I constantly read the posters in the hospital that day not to ignore reduced movement but I don’t know why constitutes reduced movements these days!

Like someone else said, I’m at the midwife for my 25 week check up on Thursday so I am looking forward to firing all these concerns at her!

I have passed the 24 week mark too which is exciting, 25 weeks on Wednesday.

I feel sorry for all you ladies who have run pain, SPD, Braxton Hicks etc. Since my sickness died off at around 14 weeks, I’ve not had too bad a time of it. Sending love and happy thoughts to all of you who need it.

So many errors in that last post! 😩 reposting without the mistakes hopefully...

Giraffe888 · 09/04/2019 07:28

Pregnancy is so worrying isn’t it?

Baby is always very active for at least an hour on a morning as soon as I get up and on an evening for at least 2 hours whilst I’m watching TV.

He wasn’t at all last night and this morning I’ve only felt the slightest of movement, even after drinking a pint of cold water. How long do you leave it before getting concerned and ringing?

I’m worried they’ll say I’m only 24+3 so movement is still not routine but I’ve been feeling routine strong movement since 18wks x

Trying2bemum · 09/04/2019 08:25

@StargazyDrifter you'll know when it happens! It's bizarre, like your body is taking over. Feel like I'm slowly making progress and definitely spending more time mentally planning things like spare room so hopefully by the time I do it I'll know what I want and can crack on!

@BeckyButterfly I had a very active day with lots of movement yesterday and so far today haven't felt a single kick so maybe they do have a quieter day after being busy? Happy 25 weeks to us tomorrow!

@Giraffe888 perhaps see how you get on today and if still nothing later then give your midwife a text or call? Hopefully he will wake up and start dancing about

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 09/04/2019 08:43

@Giraffe888 always worth calling the midwife. I've been in once from not feeling baby move. I was roughly 24 weeks then. Everything was fine, I've had another day where I didn't feel her much but I'm convinced she'd turned inwards as I felt different sensations. Not kicks like normal.

27 weeks today. Feeling very real now!

Capybaras · 09/04/2019 10:20

@Giraffe888 definitely call the midwife unit - better to get checked!

I'm 27 weeks today too @ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts didn't realise that was another viability milestone (my app told me!)

In terms of movements, are people noting down when baby is moving or just remembering as such? I downloaded that kicks counts app but it just records the number of movements and I thought it was patterns we were supposed to be monitoring so doesn't seem very practical!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 09/04/2019 11:33

@Capybaras I didn't realise either.

I know she's active after meals. And at bed time. So at Least 4x a day she's very noticeably active. I've started a using the kicks app today. Though not sure I'll keep using it. 3 months till due date!!

When should hospital bags be packed?

Yukka · 09/04/2019 12:13

Hi Ladies,

has anyone had any experience with palpitations? I've been having the odd 'skip a beat' for a while, not frequently and not that annoying, but just this morning I've had the opposity like my heart beat really fast all of sudden then slowed. I'm feeling a bit hot and bothered, and a bit weak, but not overly dizzy or anything like that.

I know it can be normal, just not sure whats normal and whats not and whether I'd be better off at home this afternoon. I'm at hospital tomo anyway for growth can and meeting with specialist.

Glad everything sorted for you @birthdaykake.

Giraffe888 · 09/04/2019 12:18

Thanks everyone for your advice, I laid on the bed for 20 mins and he got moving having a good wriggle. I wonder if the position you’re in affects how active they are? I’ve not had a soda for 8 wks so have been laid on the floor and that’s when I’ve felt him most. Laying on the bed must have spurred him on!

Why is 27wks another milestone? I didn’t know that either!

I got that kicks app but have stopped using it. I also just know that he is very active on a morning and after tea and depending what I’m doing, at lunchtime too so I just remember.

@fortheloveofdoughnuts I wondered the same about hospital bags the other week but I’m not sure x

Capybaras · 09/04/2019 12:36

That's great @Giraffe888 - must have been hiding away somewhere all tucked up nicely!

Apparently at 27 weeks the lungs are almost fully developed and there's a 95% survival rate (according to Ovia!)

My little boy is most active when I'm eating too, and in the evenings when I'm winding down he starts kicking off. He never moves when I'm in the bath (which I find odd as some of the advice says to have a bath to get them moving if having reduced movements!)

No idea about hospital bag - still haven't bought any toiletries (for me or baby) or a mattress/sheets for next2me. Got caught up in buying the pram and then cute clothes - priorities in order!
