@Giraffe888 mine did a dip test thing there and then at the appt. They've never been through the results in depth with me, just said all looked okay. Can't recall anything specific on my notes either but I have them all on an app that is infuriating to use and understand anyway so I might not just have been able to decipher what's what!

thedust · 08/04/2019 09:35

My midwife just checked it there and then and said it was fine. I've got 9 weeks left in work but I'm on holiday for one of those so only really 8 weeks Shock It's flying by at the moment!

Giraffe888 · 08/04/2019 09:41

I thought they checked it there and then too, they have in all my other appointments.

The snotty receptionist I’ve just spoken to made out as though I was lying that it’s usually tested in the appointment!

Chinks123 · 08/04/2019 09:57

@Capybaras I’m 23+3 so I think I might be the last one to turn 24 weeks?
Baby is measuring over 24 weeks already though.

He literally never stops moving! Constant huge kicks you can see from the outside, and he’s started rolling over in there now, it makes me feel like I’m seasick. I do love it though.

HchyScott · 08/04/2019 10:06

@Giraffe888 my urine is tested at every midwife appointment and she’s found either leucozytes or blood or both in every one only for them to be sent away to be tested and results to be normal!

Is anyone suffering with very low sharp pains? Not really painful but there on and off? I’ve had it all week but been pretty sure it’s baby kicking my bladder and cervix. Yesterday morning it felt like she’d turned and it felt back to normal but by the end of the day I had the same weird pains some internal so I think cervix and some more on my pubic bone which was the sort of pain I used to get with water infections. Seeing midwife next Tuesday so was going to wait to mention it then. I’m assuming it’s all getting snug in there so more pressure on bladder and cervix?

Capybaras · 08/04/2019 10:13

Do you not have a direct number for your midwife then @Giraffe888 - mine dips my urine there and then and just says it's fine.

Oh not long to go @Chinks123 - how do you know what the baby is measuring? I know they start doing fundal height at 28 week appointment but no idea of how big baby is since 20 week scan (and even then they didn't really comment, just saw head and femur measurements on my results).

Giraffe888 · 08/04/2019 10:19

@capybaras all I’ve got is a number for the children’s centre reception where I see the midwife. I’ve not been given a mobile number/direct line or anything x

Capybaras · 08/04/2019 10:21

I'm surprised by that (tbf this is my first baby so maybe it's unusual that I have my midwifes number) but I've been told to contact her anytime I have a problem, or if she's unavailable I've got another number for the regional midwives. Hope you manage to get through to someone too/past the arsey receptionist!

Giraffe888 · 08/04/2019 10:47

I thought I’d have a mobile number for her to be honest? My friend is pregnant and lives not far from me and she’s got one for hers. What if I needed to contact her on non-clinic days?

AIDE2424 · 08/04/2019 11:16

@giraffe888 I don’t have one for mine I just have the number for the midwife Hub to speak to them and if they are closed then I’m advised to ring triage. My friend has a number for hers too but I don’t. X

Chinks123 · 08/04/2019 11:21

I had a rescan @Capybaras as they couldn’t get a good view of something or other last time due to him moving around. (Still didn’t get a photo!) Hes on the 90th percentile but equal for head, femur and belly so he’s fine just a bruiser Blush

I’m in a lot of pain when I walk, even if it’s just for 2 minutes. Not due to see a midwife until 28 weeks and haven’t seen one since 16 weeks. When I text her she never replies either.

Jxtina86 · 08/04/2019 12:33

I don't have a direct number for my midwife either. I just have to phone the maternity unit at the hospital if I have any questions/concerns. It is a bit odd given I'm seeing the community midwife and they said the whole point was to have consistency in care throughout. But then again, at my 25 week appt, it was another midwife anyway covering for holiday!

BirthdayKake · 08/04/2019 12:46

Just waiting at the hospital because I woke up this morning with my knickers full of brown blood :( I've had four babies but never anything like this. And of course it's the first day of the Easter holidays so I've got all the children with me! I rang the midwives and they said to come in. I hate making a fuss though.

BirthdayKake · 08/04/2019 12:46

26 weeks today

Capybaras · 08/04/2019 12:47

Oh gosh hope everything is ok @BirthdayKake

Giraffe888 · 08/04/2019 12:51

Hope you’re ok @birthdaykake x

@chinks123 the pain doesn’t sound good 🙁 have you got a main number you can ring for midwife? X

HchyScott · 08/04/2019 13:01

@BirthdayKake god that sounds such a worry, keep us updated, hope everything is okay xx

Chinks123 · 08/04/2019 14:51

@Giraffe888 I texted my midwife but she didn’t reply. Baby is moving all the time so I’m not worried, and the pain goes as soon as I rest. It’s as soon as I start walking I get sharp pains under the bump and sometimes at the top...dp keeps telling me to ring up but like others I don’t like making a fuss.

Hope everything’s ok @BirthdayKake

Yukka · 08/04/2019 15:44

@chinks123 I had physio last week and she said it’s around now the muscles start to seperate so lots of weird pains can be normal. I’ve had a few pains but only short and sharp and not consistent so not worried.

Have mobile number for midwife but am high risk so perhaps that makes a difference.

@birthdaykake hope all is ok at hospital x

OneMoreWish · 08/04/2019 16:07

I have direct number for midwife but I'm with 1:1 midwives

Last pregnancy I had midwife from doctors surgery- in my notes there were the numbers for all the local midwives and they highlighted my one. Once I got Gd and had to have midwife at hospital I had to just ring hospital.

I've had terrible stitch like/ stabbing pains near top of stomach if I stand/ walk for more then ten minutes. Gets really painful. Last week midwife tested my urine on stick and it had lucozytes( don't know how to spell it) so she took urine sample to send away and check for infection.
Called midwife last night as pain bad and then I started wondering if I did have infection and it was connected. Midwife came round and did urine stick/ blood pressure and listened for baby again. All was fine and told it was likely ligament stretch/pain as she felt my Uterus just under where i said it hurt - really surprised as only a couple of inches below rib cage didn't realise it had grown that much already!

StargazyDrifter · 08/04/2019 16:33

BirthdayKake everything crossed that you have a speedy and uneventful hospital visit.

I don't have a designated midwife, or a number, just the 24/7 hospital maternity triage number. That said, they are pretty good and even picked up at 4am once when DH called them when I was in agony. That was the left rib pain btw, get it so badly occasionally. Wiped me out for the day again yesterday. And then it went. Ugh.

We had our Easter plans fall through last week, a little mini break, sounds trivial but I felt so put out as not long until the baby's here and wanted something lovely for the two of us. But I've just managed to make an alternative plan and so so looking forward to a few days away. 😁

Kentishgal · 08/04/2019 16:52

birthdaykake I really hope you can get some reassurance quickly. Please let us know how you get on. A bit of pain here too but I think it's just pgp - v sharp pains underneath (and usual stretching pains in bump too) - walking and getting up from a chair is getting increasingly difficult. I didn't get any pgp in last pregnancy - so weird. I just haven't found the pelvic girdle belt they gave me to wear to be very practical - especially when I'm in the loo every five minutes - and its digs in when I sit down. They told me to go back if I need crutches - I don't want to use crutches at all but wondering if I might need them soon - not even sure that my arms are strong enough to use them - I'm a bit of a weakling!!

Chinks123 · 08/04/2019 16:52

Yes that’s what I thought @Yukka which is why I haven’t made an appointment, but it’s getting difficult to even walk dd to school.

@OneMoreWish what you’ve described is exactly the pains I have! Feels like a stitch but it’s so painful. Might try midwife again and get urine tested, but since it only happens when I walk I didn’t think it would be an infection.

BirthdayKake · 08/04/2019 17:01

Aww thank you for the good wishes xx

Baby is fine but I have a grazed cervix - never had that before!! The midwife has said not to DTD anymore Blush (we did last night; first time for ages) as the bleeding will just keep happening. We're not bothered about that and relieved the baby is ok, especially as the miscarriage I had before conceiving this baby started with brown bleeding, and I just knew something was wrong.

So glad to be home!

Hope everyone else is ok x

BirthdayKake · 08/04/2019 17:01

Oh they also listened to the heartbeat which was nice and took swabs from my cervix which wasn't so nice - should have the results in a few days to see if there's any kind of infection
