@blueeyedviking thanks for confirming on heat pads, I forgot to ask midwife this morning!

I’ve made another appointment at physio for 16th. Heard baby’s heartbeat this morning and all ok x

Chinks123 · 05/04/2019 20:35

@cravingmilkshake I’ve never washed brand new baby clothes. I’ve just washed a few bits I’ve been gifted in non bio as they smelt quite strongly of fabric conditioner, and dd had very sensitive skin.

Capybaras · 05/04/2019 21:02

Oh yes - I always see that people wash new baby clothes but wondered why! Seems like a lot of faff, and means you can't return things if they're not the right size/don't get worn!

BeckyButterfly · 05/04/2019 21:03

I’m pleased someone mentioned the whole washing new baby clothes because I thought I was being a bad person by not washing everything..!

RooKangaroo · 06/04/2019 07:48

@cravingmilkshake, I did last time but if I was doing it again I wouldn't bother!

At some point nearer the time I'll get the toddler's clothes out of the loft and give them a good wash, but that's only because they've been up there a couple of years and need freshening up.

I don't wash new clothes either. I've got enough washing already lol

Giraffe888 · 06/04/2019 08:44

I’m going to wash the ones I’ve bought but any that we get bought and when baby is here I know I won’t!

AIDE2424 · 06/04/2019 08:48

I was wondering about washing clothes too so glad somebody else asked. Feel like things are coming together on this side now, have my Moses basket and ordered my next 2 me and pram along with a few other bits and bobs. Still on the hunt for a new care as my fiat 500 just isn’t going to cut it I don’t think as much as I love the car. So new car is next on the list.

Giraffe888 · 06/04/2019 10:15

DH and I have been off work this week so we’ve had a few productive shopping days. We have now got:

Pram
Car seat
Changing bag
Snuzpod
Cot
Mattress
Baby monitor
Breast pump
Baby carrier
Few sleepsuits in newborn
Few sleepsuits in 0-3
Muslins
Bouncer chair (from friend)
I’ve been buying a pack of Nappies when doing food shop for last few weeks

Left to get are changing mat and fitted sheet for cot

My parents have got a box full of useful bits they’ve been buying too (thermometer, water wipes, booties, some sleepsuits, baby toiletries, nightlight)

Have we missed anything??? X

ReginaPhalange89 · 06/04/2019 15:07

@Giraffe888 sounds like you've got loads !

Other things I can think of ... baby bath? bibs ? Vests ?

Capybaras · 06/04/2019 15:21

Wow that sounds mega organised @Giraffe888, I need to get my arse into gear with buying stuff!

Is anyone else feeling a bit light-headed or 'out-of-it' with their pregnancies? Is this normal? I'm assuming it may be low blood pressure or something but I'm finding the past few days I've been feeling it, and getting little spots in my vision too. Trying to rest more and make sure I'm hydrated but not sure if this is normal or not!

ReginaPhalange89 · 06/04/2019 15:31

@Capybaras I'm pretty sure its common to feel like that , I remember my last pregnancy having the odd day I'd feel like I'd had a couple of drinks ! That's the only way I can describe it

Are you due to see your mw soon ? I'd mention it when you do just in case , or if you're not due to see her and it's happening frequently maybe phone the midwife unit and ask ? Might be worth getting your BP checked

Capybaras · 06/04/2019 15:46

I saw her at my 25 week appointment 2 weeks ago, and BP was fine. Due to see her in a fortnight but might check my BP round my parents as they have a home machine!
It's mostly when I've either been sitting down for a long time (such as in work) or today I've been shopping so think I'm dehydrated/tired from that, but will definitely get in touch with the midwife if it continues!

It's so hard to know what's normal and what's not with pregnancy! Doesn't help that I'm struggling to get comfy sleeping now - I'm tossing and turning all night - my poor DH!

Toria73 · 06/04/2019 16:25

Re the washing of clothes, so glad people here aren’t bothering either. I was worried if that was going to be another potential mummy failure for me. I think I’m doing well because I bought fairy washing tabs at last shop because that seems to be what people do.
@capybaras I get that way if I haven’t eaten/drank enough. In fact I’m currently sitting in McDonalds as I type because I misjudged how long as I was going to be in town & forgot to grab my trusty bag of almonds. I knew I had to eat when I felt like crying at the thought of the 10min walk home 😂
On the plus side it’s fairly entertaining; the table beside me is having a fight, the lad (12yrs old max) gave the girl he’s with a row for being rude & not putting her phone away. He obviously feels v strongly about it as he told her that was last time he’d be buying her McFlurry. I’m trying so hard not to laugh 😂😂😂

Giraffe888 · 06/04/2019 16:35

Oh yes baby bath is on my list too! Not got any bibs yet or vest, how many vests would you get?

We took DSS to the cinema to see Dumbo this afternoon. I had to come out twice as I felt so unwell. Really sick, light headed, faint and my vision completely went. DH had to walk me out to the toilet. Was so scary. I’d just eaten so it wasn’t hunger, not sure what it could have been? I feel a lot better now but still not 100% x

ReginaPhalange89 · 06/04/2019 16:43

I've got 10 newborn vests so far and 10 in 0-3 ..... Not really sure how much to have ! We had a LOT of poo explosions last time, which I think is common with breastfeeding apparently, and we often just chucked the vest if it was really bad! Cos the stains just so not come out 😷

Capybaras · 06/04/2019 20:51

Oh gosh that sounds horrible @Giraffe888 - hope you're feeling ok now? No idea what that would be from - may be worth contacting your midwife?

Giraffe888 · 06/04/2019 20:58

I feel better than I did earlier @capybaras but not right.

Just been talking to my BF who is a nurse. She asked me what my urinalysis was yesterday at midwife. I had a student yesterday and myself and DH can’t remember seeing her check it. I’ve checked my notes and she’s not filled that bit in so I don’t think she did. Going to ring midwife Monday morning and ask her about it x

Chinks123 · 07/04/2019 11:02

@Giraffe888 I actually had an episode like that in my last pregnancy, and it was so scary. I was in the queue in a shop and I just suddenly went blind! Everything went black, I had to abandon my trolley and blindly walk myself to the toilets. (Praying I didn’t bang into someone or walk into the gents.) I must have looked a bit mad Blush
I got myself in a cubicle, put my head on my knees and my vision came back after 10 minutes. I was shaking and sick, it was awful- hope you’re feeling better!!

I didn’t get to the bottom of what it was, but I had very low iron levels throughout pregnancy so maybe that?

AIDE2424 · 07/04/2019 12:56

24 weeks today 🙌 milestone reached.

Currently at work last shift till the 29th of April! Can’t wait.
Hope your feeling okay today @Giraffe888 xx

Yukka · 08/04/2019 07:50

@giraffe888 good you’re feeling better, worth speaking to midriff I think.

Also reached 24w yesterday and getting some really visible movements from baby in the evenings, it’s awesome!

Back for growth scan and consultant check this week, fingers crossed all is well in there. Then off to Majorca on Saturday - god I can’t wait. Totally ready for a break.

Hope everyone else ok today.

Giraffe888 · 08/04/2019 07:56

Thanks @yukka, @AIDE2424 and chinks123 I definitely felt a lot better yesterday but not 100%. I’m going to ring midwife at 9 about my urinalysis.

After 8 weeks of having no sofa (don’t ask!) and sitting on the floor every night, our new ones are finally coming today 😍

Capybaras · 08/04/2019 09:02

Glad you're feeling a bit better @Giraffe888 good to check with your midwife though! I definitely think my lightheaded spells are dehydration/overdoing it as I drank loads yesterday and chilled and felt good (tired but good)

Congrats to those reaching viability - it's such a relief isn't it? Have all of us reached 24 weeks now?

Counting down the days left until mat leave already - 10 weeks but have a week off in the middle so technically 9 weeks!

I love how baby wakes up when I wake up in the mornings now - really nice to feel him wriggling away as I'm getting up!

Giraffe888 · 08/04/2019 09:15

I’ve just rang to speak to midwife and the receptionist was so rude 😡 she’s really wound me up! Says she’ll speak to midwife (I can’t!) then ring me back

I reached 24 weeks on Saturday. I didn’t realise it would feel like such a milestone but even DH commented that it was which I didn’t expect!

Our last day off work today. Only 6 weeks to work then off again 😂 x

Giraffe888 · 08/04/2019 09:17

Quick question...did your midwife check your urine in 25 wk appointment or was it sent off for testing?
