@Jxtina86 I've just had my pre-birth appointment with the health visitor. She just took details of who lives with me and gave me leaflets about breastfeeding and co-sleeping, asked if I had any worries, that sort of thing.

Chinks that is close! I had my third baby on her due date, and the one after that at 39 weeks, so who knows?!

My son's induction at grammar school is 12 days before my due date. I have a feeling I'll be the only one there heavily pregnant with my fifth baby as well Confused

thedust · 02/04/2019 08:43

I wouldn't be travelling anywhere far away a week before my due date! I'd just say you're not going already so they can get used to the idea.

Got my 25 week midwife appointment this morning and whooping cough jab. Been back in work but still full of this cold and not sleeping great. Guess I better just get used to the lack of sleep...

Chinks123 · 02/04/2019 09:22

I’ve just cried Infront of dds teachers and other parents at school Blush She was kicking off and didn’t want to go in her classroom and I just started crying...I told them all it was the hormones but they must think I’m a right plonker. I’m still cringing.

thedust · 02/04/2019 09:39

@chinks123 I cried yesterday in front of a colleague I don't know that we'll really because they asked how I was! You're not alone!

Chinks123 · 02/04/2019 09:56

That makes me feel better @thedust. They got the tissues out and I was just so embarrassed but I still couldn’t stop the tears. Pregnancy is so fun isn’t it

thedust · 02/04/2019 10:06

I'm sure they'll understand. It's an emotional time and I'm so tired too, even before pregnancy was a crier if I got too tired.

Bump is measuring perfectly for 25 weeks so in your face everyone who said I looked big! 😂

Chinks123 · 02/04/2019 11:19

@thedust I’m a crier normally too. Dd has an operation this week (nothing major) but I think that’s stressing me out.

That’s good about the bump! I don’t see my midwife until 28 weeks so no idea if I’m still measuring big but I feel it.

AIDE2424 · 02/04/2019 13:59

Work have employed my replacement today and I’m sad in a way! I love my job as stressful as it is, but I still love it! And now someone else is going to be taking over my role! But I’ll have a beautiful baby to think about. And I’ve warned work I’ll be back!

Hope all is well ❤️

ReginaPhalange89 · 02/04/2019 16:30

Just catching up ! @Chinks123 I definitely wouldn't go anywhere far at 39 weeks ! They'll just have to deal with it ! I'd just tell them now so they aren't annoyed nearer the time. Although they don't have a reason to be annoyed anyway, not much you can do about it !

A friend of mines waters went at like 35 weeks and she was on a coach down to England somewhere (from Scotland!) . She ended up giving birth away from home and baby obviously had to stay in nicu because he was early. You just never know !

I'm with everyone on the crying.... I just cried because OH made a joke about my thumbs getting fat 🙈😂

Jxtina86 · 02/04/2019 17:16

@BirthdayKake ah okay, thank you! The letter didn't really say much apart from the date and time so I was a bit 'huh'?!

BirthdayKake · 02/04/2019 17:30

No worries! At least you got your letter... Mine just turned up and said "Oh you should have got a letter!" Thank god the house was clean 😂

thedust · 02/04/2019 17:37

@birthdaykake I meant to ask my midwife today about the home visits - we have a rescue dog who isn't good with visitors so an unannounced visitor is my worst nightmare! It seems like not all trusts do them from talking to friends but I don't know anyone who has recently had a baby with my trust.

BirthdayKake · 02/04/2019 17:45

@thedust I hate unannounced visitors too! Would definitely have said no if I wasn't ready, or the house was messy, or whatever. Bless your dog! Fingers crossed your midwives and HVs keep you updated

Capybaras · 02/04/2019 18:13

I didn't even know that the health visitor cane whilst you were pregnant. Does this happen everywhere?

Been really uncomfortable today - can't take a full breath and just feel bleh. 26 weeks now, hope this is just a one off and not the start of general pregnancy uncomfiness - feels too early!

TwinkleDay · 02/04/2019 18:30

When are the health visitors supposed to come over?

And @Onestep2 no babies or seats are allowed in 3 seater van because Of the air bags and the seats move.. and it invalidates work insurance if you do... we have just swapped oH work van to an insignia estate we call it the daddy wagon it's huge.

Chinks123 · 02/04/2019 19:05

Health visitor and midwives don’t come to your house in pregnancy where I live. They come and do check ups after baby is born but they book them with you first. I’d hate one to just turn up, I’m never ready for visitors.

thedust · 02/04/2019 19:24

I just checked my notes and it says the 36 week appointment may take place at your home. I know they definitely do if you want a home birth because they need to check the space is suitable and access etc. Wondering how I can swerve it without them getting suspicious 😂 obvs we will have the health visitor come after baby is born but DH will be on paternity leave too so can help with our dog.

Evening All

We’ve just got home after a few days in the Lake District. It’s been lovely to get away but has been spoilt by my immense back pain. The 2.5 hour journey didn’t help but the pain I’m in everyday is just getting worse, I’ve cried because of it today which isn’t like me at all 🙁

Braxton Hicks started on Sunday, aren’t they strange?! 😳

We’re going swimming at a private pool for an hour tomorrow, looking forward to that and hoping it might help my back pain x

Giraffe888 · 02/04/2019 20:26

My 36wk midwife appt is at home too x

RooKangaroo · 02/04/2019 20:33

Glad you had a good holiday @Giraffe888, but sorry to hear about the back pain :(

Have you seen anyone about it? Can they give you anything to help? x

Giraffe888 · 02/04/2019 20:51

Thanks @rookangaroo I went to group physio a few weeks ago but found it pretty pointless. They said can ring for a 1-1 appointment at anytime so I’m going to ring tomorrow. The impression they gave though was there’s not much you can do about it x

thedust · 02/04/2019 21:12

@Giraffe888 is it pelvic girdle pain? Our trust does group classes for PGP too, I phoned up 2 weeks ago to book onto it and my appointment came through for the end of this month - we're away though! Typical! I get the impression it wouldn't be very helpful though, I think treatment needs to be personalised for it. I've got issues because of a previous injury and hypermobility.

I've been going to see a chiropractor though at a local chiro/physio clinic and touchwood I think it's helping. One of the exercises that was on the NHS leaflet was actually worse for me so she suggested alternatives.

I've had days where it's been so bad/frustrating that I've cried too. It's really hard to just be told 'oh it'll go when the baby gets here' because that's 4 months away 😥

Giraffe888 · 02/04/2019 21:31

@thedust I’m not sure if it is PGP. I had an underlying back problem from 11 years ago (lumbar punctures gone wrong were the cause) and since I’ve been pregnant it’s really flared it up x

StargazyDrifter · 03/04/2019 08:38

Definitely with you all on the crying - I cried at my appraisal last week, as did my manager (also pg!) and all because of a nice thing someone else had said. 🙄 People were wondering what had happened after we both fell out of the meeting room sniffing a bit!

I too have heard that the NHS physio is pretty pointless, they never even called to make a group appt after GP referral, so I've left it and will go private if I need one down the line. I also have hypermobility and previous back problems but, so far, if I have a rest day every so often it seems ok. I totally know what you mean about the pain spoiling things, Giraffe, I have this with an unexplained pain in my left side. Hopefully the swimming might help! 🏊‍♀️

On breathlessness, I went to the GP about that on Monday because it can be a sign of iron deficiency (both according to NHS website and a thread on the main pg board). Waiting for the blood result but the GP also said that by 26 weeks the baby is big enough to squish the diaphragm, this causes you not to breathe into your belly and feel constrained. He seemed to think it was still providing enough air, even if the body might think not because its usual way of breathing was constrained.

It's lovely and sunny where I am, makes such a difference!

JSCRJ · 03/04/2019 10:04

Another one crying all the time over here! I balled my eyes out yesterday when I read a story about a dog who died and his owners leaving his tennis balls in the park for other dogs to play with.

I was thinking about your side pain @StargazyDrifter and wondering if it was any better. I guess not? I've still got it too, but on the right hand side. I've taken to sitting on a kneeling chair and someone else recommended a birthing ball for the office as it's so much worse when I'm seated. I saw the GP over a week ago who arranged blood tests and a scan of my organs around there. Still waiting on the results and the date for the scan though. I think it's probably just the position of the baby though and something I've got to put up with for another three months.

At least this lovely sunshine makes July not feel so far away!
