Has anyone else had very intense muscular pains in their bumps?!
I have a DD and if I'm twisting or leaning awkwardly to her I often get a stabbing pain in my upper left side of bump, couple of times a week.
Baby is still kicking so I'm not super worried, just don't remember this from first pg.

BH were very common for me last time round, haven't noticed them yet this time. Totally painless and I wouldn't notice unless I had my hand on bump then you could feel it go really solid.

Hope everyone is feeling well today.

Hi all

Been a bit quiet on here recently ! Last time I wrote out a post my phone died and then I forgot about it 🙈

Sorry to hear some of you have been struggling with pains or colds etc. I've been lucky so far touch wood , it's been a lfetty easy pregnancy so far . I've managed to avoid any colds or sickness bugs despite OH and the kids all having had something or other.
I get the occasional pain in my lower back but usually after sitting for too long or a long walk.

Maternity wear.... I've given up ! All of the tops I ordered from New Look are way too short and ride up so just infuriate me , and most of the maternity jeans I've tried have been rubbish ! So I've taken to wearing leggings mostly , with loose dresses or oversized shirts . Figured they'll still be wearable after pregnancy too when I'm self conscious about losing baby weight . Plus i don't want to waste any more money on mat stuff since this is the last baby !

Giraffe888 · 30/03/2019 08:46

My friend ordered 12 items of mat clothes from boohoo and sent them all back. They were either rubbish quality or really small fitting. She ordered a size 16 dress and it fit me and I’m a size 6, so I’m not bothering trying anything from there.

Saw some nice dresses on next mat last night. Just t-shirt style to below the knee but only £14 so I might see what they’re like

BeckyButterfly · 30/03/2019 10:30

I’m with you @ReginaPhalange89, most of the mat stuff I’ve tried has been rubbish. I’ve sent so much back. The only items I’ve bought which I like and are good quality are from Lidl! (Jeans and leggings) I’m just living in leggings and larger sized loose fit dresses etc.
I’ve ordered from Boohoo because of the sale but don’t have high hopes. The clothes are always rubbish quality and fit from there but I thought I’d give it a go since it’s just leggings and t-shirt style dresses that I’ve ordered.

Yukka · 30/03/2019 11:42

New look for tops has been my Best Buy plus my jeans from ASOS.., not really wearing much else out of work.

ReginaPhalange89 · 30/03/2019 11:48

Yeah I've ordered maternity stuff from boohoo before and it's all been crap ! I ordered a couple of their jeans and they fit terrible, absolutely huge , I've not tried their maternity tops though, but from what I gathered it was like they just made stuff oversized rather than actually proper maternity !
I did get one dress from boohoo though which I like , it is a little big for me but it's comfy and it'll last me I think , worn it once the night we went away but ive got some parties in the summer I could wear it to. I did order like 14 dresses though and it was the only one that was ok haha.

@Giraffe888 I'm sure someone on the FB group recommended those next dresses to me, I've been meaning to order one to try it.

StargazyDrifter · 30/03/2019 14:15

Following the mat wear discussion with interest.

I'm 25+6 and haven't yet worn anything maternity-specific apart from bras. Btw, whoever recommended Figleaves for nursing bras on here the other day has saved my boobies, I am a new woman! I do need to get on with the maternity clothes though, because once-baggy things from my wardrobe don't really cut it any more. And my jeans are now being held together with a hairband...

A Q for mummies who've done this before - what can I realistically expect body-wise after birth? ELCS on the cards if that makes a difference... Will I be wanting baggy and stretchy things for 6 months? So leggings/shorts and floaty tops and dresses? Plus things that are friendly for BF? I've ordered a couple of pairs of trainers in the HoF sales as expecting to live in those. Anything else missing?

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 30/03/2019 14:26

Stargazy I had a VB but my best mate had CS. The wound can be irritable so high waisted knickers and bottoms that don't rub near wound/dressing sounds best. Seeing as it'll be summer I guess floaty summer dresses will be perfect!

I was extremely lucky to be able to fit back into my pre-pg jeans after about 5 days (I know, it's ridiculous) but tops wise if you're hoping to BF I would recommend layers - two vests or a vest covered by a looser linen shirt maybe. One layer comes down under the boob and the other layer sits over the boob protecting some of your modesty. Hmm
The trick isn't home feeding but public feeding. At home you just basically sit with your tits out for about 6 weeks...
The nursing tops are good as they have inbuilt layers but they get a bit samey and mine were all jersey/t-shirt material so hot in v warm weather.
Variety of nursing tops and vests will suffice.
(Plus breast pads and Loads of lanolin cream!)
Good luck, it's really tricky to establish for many women but I am so glad I persevered.

Capybaras · 30/03/2019 14:26

I've bought quite a few bits from the Topshop maternity range - especially a few dresses which have been great from work. Otherwise the odd thing from ASOS and now ordered a few bits from boohoo so shall see what they're like! It's so sunny here today, and struggling to find a nice summery top to wear - none of my non-mat fit decently so sat in the garden in a bikini top and jeans

Oh good question @StargazyDrifter - no idea what's realistic after birth!

OneMoreWish · 30/03/2019 16:31

@StargazyDrifter

I had c section last time, tips that helped me:

Granny knickers that come to your waist nothing that sits by wound .
Loose clothes again nothing that will sit near wound also stuff that's easy to put on. I could not bend to begin with so , unless you have partner who can help , then dresses and skirts you can pop over your head to put on.
Another tip - again depends on how much help you are getting is the Tena lady pants rather than knickers - especially good in first few days/ hospital . Someone put them on up to your knees and you will be able to lift up rest of way and to take off you just rip the sides - no bending required.
Pillow for when you go home in car / cough to press on stomach helps a bit.
My feet swelled after c section so flip flops or the like very helpful.
Tip I heard afterwards which I didn't do at time- dressing gown belt tied to end of bed ( hospital and at hone) to pull on to help sit up - saves stomach muscles.
( I also bought windeeze tablets as heard you get trapped wind after c section that can be painful especially in shoulder - that worked for me but you can also drink peppermint tea which helps)

BeckyButterfly · 30/03/2019 17:00

@StargazyDrifter I’m pleased Figleaves has helped you! I love my bra from there. I think I’ll order a couple more 🙂

StargazyDrifter · 30/03/2019 17:50

Thanks so much for the tips, everyone! Really helpful. Just been through the Debenhams sale online - some very good clothes bargains in the 50-70% off category from Phase Eight and Red Herring, if you like that sort of thing. Also decent necklaces - all mine are v long beady things and no longer work with the bump! Snuck in a Father Christmas outfit for the baby... I know, I know, it was only £3! 🙈

StargazyDrifter · 30/03/2019 17:53

Here's a Mother's Day prize draw from Seraphine if anyone's interested. Just entered, and you can opt out of emails with it, not that I ever win!

TwinkleDay · 31/03/2019 08:05

Morning all, got another weekend away this weekend for mother's
Day partners family, went to see rhod Gilbert - comedy gig in Newcastle last night, it was really good- however the poor chap is 50 and really struggling with infertility so a lot of his gig was him talking about IVF. Made me feel blessed even more so. And I thought at 6 months pregnant and having walked 6 miles yesterday i would of wet myself and been knackered but I had an afternoon nap at stayed up to 11pm! Out for Mother's Day lunch today ...

Capybaras · 31/03/2019 15:15

Oh we're going to see rhod Gilbert in May @TwinkleDay - seen him once before and was so good. Sad he's struggling with infertility though!
Hope you've had a lovely Mother's Day lunch. We've been out with my family this morning for brunch and then out this evening with DHs family for tea! I'm shattered today so done a little bit of house tidying and now chilling on the sofa until we're out again! Would much rather stay in with a takeaway and netflix - that will have to be next years plan when it's my first Mother's Day!
Really starting to notice myself slowing down now - quite breathless walking on the slightest incline and generally starting to get a bit more tired again! Is this how the third trimester is?!

TwinkleDay · 31/03/2019 18:10

@Capybaras oh my comedy in May lol you will be around 7-8 months by then... I thought I would be concentrating on not wetting myself however I'm still all good with pelvic floor exercises and have been walking 6000-16000 steps a day which I feel great for just taking it steady up the inclines and hills.

Meal out was lovely .. I was booked as half a mummy so got a free non alcoholic elderflower spritz and then spoilt by mum in law ish in mothercare and mamas and papas got a baby play mat gym, a Percy the penguin comforter and the cutest baby penguin hooded towel hehe x
