@OneMoreWish thank you. I declined the GTT last time too. My biggest baby has been 6lb although I know small babies can be affected too. They'll be keeping a close eye on me anyway because of the sizes of previous babies but I'm just not doing that fasting thing, I'll bloody pass out! I don't want anything else affecting my home birth decision either. I know some people will think I'm mad and I suppose I am a little bit! Thanks though xx

BeckyButterfly · 29/03/2019 06:10

Just a heads up, Boohoo have 25% off all clothing including maternity wear. I’ve just ordered £68 worth of stuff 😬 just general everyday things like a pack of 3 pairs of over bump leggings for £13 I think it was. Just in case anyone was needing anything 🙂

Capybaras · 29/03/2019 07:13

Ohhh thank you @BeckyButterfly just in time for our day too!

Had my 25 week appointment yesterday - is anyone else getting braxton hicks? Apparently I've been having them - the midwife pointed it out, as I was having one as she examined me. Didn't realise they could happen this early.
So glad it's Friday today - starting to tired again now and not sleeping so well!

BeckyButterfly · 29/03/2019 07:27

@Capybaras my thoughts exactly! 😂

Did you know you had Braxton Hicks before she told you? I mean did you have symptoms..? I don’t really know what it is!

I am sleeping terribly too, hence the Boohoo shopping in the early hours of the morning!!

TwinkleDay · 29/03/2019 07:47

I woke up at 3 looking online at the m and s sale, also bought a 3 metre by 2 metre rugs just because I was one of the first there... lol.. I didn't

I haven't had any Braxton Hicks yet all I know is you whole tummy is supposed to go hard for a while like a mini contraction...

However my healthy ish diet isn't cutting the mustard... I found some blood this morning with my morning revelations... 😐

Jxtina86 · 29/03/2019 07:51

I'm waking up at 4am on the dot every day now and can't get comfortable enough to get back to sleep until about a minute before the alarm goes off at 6.

Anyone else going from one extreme to the other emotions wise? Emptying the dishwasher, bent down to put something away and as I stood up, whacked my head on DH's elbow as he went to get something from the fridge. Cue absolute hysterical sobbing from me which eventually turned into uncontrollable laughter as I replayed the incident in my head. DH had no idea whether to comfort me or laugh too...!

Capybaras · 29/03/2019 08:01

@BeckyButterfly no had no idea! Now she's said it though, I went for a walk after work and my stomach felt weird and I realised that must be another one of them. Didn't think you could get them so early! I imagined it would be like in friends when Rachel is in agony from them Grin

The waking up and not being able to get back to sleep thing is so annoying - must be our bodies preparing us for the joys of sleepless nights with babies!

Kentishgal · 29/03/2019 10:01

I've been getting braxton hicks for quite a while - some are quite strong, but others I musn't be able to feel because I was having them during both scans and couldn't feel them.

thedust · 29/03/2019 10:17

I can't remember the last time I slept through the night! Hope I get some better sleep before the baby is here cos it might be years before I get another full night's sleep 😂

Currently off work sick with a respiratory tract infection. Went to the drs yesterday cos I was really worried in case it was anything more sinister and over-cautious with being pregnant. Dr was very nice and checked me thoroughly but said all I can do is rest and take paracetamol as it's viral, not bacterial. Normally I just power through when I have a cold, felt a bit silly going the dr really. Between this and my PGP I am soooo bored and want to feel well again.

I had my first physio appointment for my PGP on Wednesday, I've got exercises to do 3 times a day.

TheScaredyKat · 29/03/2019 12:17

Hello all, I've been awol for a while but just letting you all know I am still here and trying to keep up. We are so busy with work and spending every spare moment working on the house.
All is well here with me and this little man. Now 27 weeks yesterday and he's very active!

SerenaOverjoyed · 29/03/2019 14:00

@thedust you poor thing. All my colds have been really yuck since pregnancy, I think we make more mucus?Brew feet up, it's rubbish with paracetamol alone

Sorry for the rough sleepers. Insomnia is rough when we all have so much on our minds! Internet shopping seems like the most sensible remedyGrin

I'm sat in triage due to reduced movement, I'm 24wks today. The kicks only started 10 days ago but were like thumps, in the last 36 hours they have been less frequent and quite faint. 99.99% sure I'm a time waster but I want to avoid feeling the need to present to a&e at the weekend if she doesn't perk up.

thedust · 29/03/2019 14:38

@serenaoverjoyed always best to get checked out to put your mind at ease, hope they starting kicking around soon!

StargazyDrifter · 29/03/2019 14:39

Sorry to hear Serena, absolutely the right thing to do.

Hope you feel better soon thedust, I'm also full of cold and the pharmacist refused to give me cough syrup without a prescription because I'm pregnant. Said it was standard procedure. Meant to go to one of the GP's walk in slots earlier but slept through them. 🤦‍♀️ Colds and coughs are definitely worse these days!

thedust · 29/03/2019 15:10

It's so frustrating what you can and can't take isn't it @stargazydrifter! My Dr was going to prescribe me some ear drops because the infection was causing ear ache too but the system said not suitable for pregnancy. Seems like paracetamol is pretty much the only thing safe for pregnancy but I worry I'm taking too much of that too.

I'm sat outside in my garden enjoying a bit of the sun after spending all morning in bed which is making me feel a bit better. I'm just feeling bored now. I always love the idea of a duvet day but then when you actually have to take one they are just annoying!

stephn88 · 29/03/2019 16:29

I found it really difficult when I had a cold, you can take the usual cold and flu stuff! I did use the sterimar salt water nasal spray and that helped a little with congestion....

The insomnia is crazy! I find myself awake at 3am and then just tossing and turning for the next couple of hours until my alarm goes off! The CTS doesn't help either 😭

AIDE2424 · 29/03/2019 16:51

Had my rescan today and they managed to get what needed with difficulty as she was laid funny again! Hwoever she turned and I finally got a clear scan photo of her 😍

Hope your all well ❤️

Yukka · 29/03/2019 18:09

@serenaoverjoyed how did you get on today?

@thedust I had pgp and piriformis syndrome confirmed at physio yesterday too, so my left hip is higher than my right. Lots of exercises, her manipulation was so nice though!

@aide2424 great need in the scan :)

Yukka · 29/03/2019 18:10

Sorry great news on the scan, hate predictive text still!

RooKangaroo · 29/03/2019 18:30

@thedust, poor you, that sounds horrible. I know it must be boring as hell, but so make sure you rest and look after yourself. Though agree that duvet days are never as fun as you think they will be....

@SerenaOverjoyed, sorry to hear about the movement concerns. Were they able to reassure you? Definitely not a waste of time, always better to check x

Nice scan pic @AIDE2424!

Agree with all those suffering with insomnia and finding it uncomfortable to sleep.

I'm really surprised how different this pregnancy is to last time. Last time we went to the south of France in my third trimester; it was 40 degrees everyday and my DH was melting but I was absolutely fine and walking up mountains and everything. I had so much energy. (That's not a fitness boast as I'm not a work-out person, I just felt quite good during the third trimester last time).

This time I'm only 24 weeks but it feels like 44! Can't believe how exhausted I am, and how achy I get in the afternoons and evenings. Just a short walk to the Co-op this afternoon had me worn out!

Looonnnnng way to go....!

StargazyDrifter · 29/03/2019 20:39

thedust I'm with you on duvet days! They ever quite live up to the dream. Sounds like your day today was exactly what you needed. Lovely to have a bit of sun too. I went got a wander and enjoyed it.

Serena hope you got on ok today.

Roo that's so interesting that different pregnancies can be so different. I was just wondering about a trip in June but decided not, too sicky. Perhaps next time. Wait, what next time, whoever mentioned no2?!

DianaBlythe · 30/03/2019 01:50

I’m sure I’ve been having Braxton Hicks since about 19-20 weeks. Whole abdomen goes hard and then softens again. Not painful and never really amounts to much. I thought it was way too early but the internet says apparently not. Mentioned it to midwife and antenatal assessment unit team and neither seemed overly concerned! If anything it seems a bit less now at 26+4 than it was a few weeks ago.

blueeyedviking · 30/03/2019 07:18

@serenaoverjoyed How did you get on yesterday?

Another weekend I'm looking forward to sleep, and guess who wakes up at 6am... yesterday evening i did 70min of housework, nothing too strenuous.. But that triggered my back pain.. Now I get blinding sharp pain that runs all the way down my right leg whenever I walk. I could barely walk up the stairs! I can't do anything anymore without the body saying stop. And I'm only 25 weeks! 🙄

're maternity clothes. I've got some dresses from Boo hoo so will report back. I love the Seraphine clothes but it's so expensive considering the short use. I also have got a dress from 'Want that trend' which was decent buy.

Beckanne90 · 30/03/2019 08:11

Yes Braxton hicks can start as early as 16 weeks. I don’t know when mine started but I’ve been having them a long long time now at (25 weeks tomorrow) I remember mentioning it to my MW at 15 week appointment. More obvious now it’s bigger but could definitely feel them even then.

@serenaoverjoyed, I hope everything went okay. Always best to get checked.

Pregnancy exhaustion this time is blah for me too. I remember I wasn’t like this with my first, I had a few dizzy spells every now and again but wasn’t this tired. I suppose though I was quite abit more rested back then so that probably helped.

thedust · 30/03/2019 08:23

I ordered 2 dresses from Seraphine for our holiday but I got nursing/maternity ones to justify it to myself that I'll get more use out of them! They are nice though, I ordered a dress from boohoo that looks nothing like it did on the website - supposed to be a wrap dress but it's like a faux-wrap dress! Very clingy too. I kept it cos it was only cheap, the pyjamas were ok too but not great quality, they have faded after just 1 wash.
