New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

Also, @AIDE2424, I keep waking up on my front or back. I have quite a decent sized bump but I keep rolling from my side more onto my front. Not completely flat on my front but I’m sure I must still be squishing her a bit! 😂

BeckyButterfly · 03/03/2019 19:25

Does anyone else’s bump ever feel sore? It’s as if she is pushing out against my tummy and it feels sore and stretched. I don’t know if that makes sense. I still haven’t felt any bubble or butterfly sensations but feel a lot of stretching and can almost feel where she is sitting from the outside.

blueeyedviking · 03/03/2019 19:49

Thanks for the all the tips. I've just ordered some roche-posay online.

Also about to start my spreadsheet for baby bits so all of your posts are so helpful. We have cleared out the room for the nursery, we have decided to get it ready before. We barely have a free weekend before June...

're names. We have no idea.. I would like to have one that works in both our languages (Norwegian and English) so that limits it a bit...

cravingmilkshake · 03/03/2019 20:01

Has everyone thought of which pram they are getting?

As a newbie I am completely flummoxed as what to get! Do we get a travel system, all in one etc or just a pram! I have no clue.

My husband has cerbral palsey (not severe, can still drive etc) but we will need one that's easy to fold! Any recommendations would be great!

BeckyButterfly · 03/03/2019 20:09

@cravingmilkshake we have decided on the Oyster 3 because it isn’t too expensive and folds with the chair still attached. Most of the prams we looked at (within our budget), you have to remove the chair part then fold the frame separately which I thought would be a pain in the bottom. We are just getting the pram, carrycot and footmuff rather than the whole travel system because we wanted to get a car seat that would last beyond the age of 1. Most of the car seats that come with travel systems only last until the baby is 1. Other people also advised me to check that the car seats that come with the travel systems are the best you can get (iSize, Isofix etc)

Most people said to me that the best way to choose is to go and test them out. You will be surprised by how quickly you form an opinion on what you want from a pram.

StargazyDrifter · 03/03/2019 20:16

cravingmilkshake at the Baby Show there was a self-folding pram, probably crazy expensive though... starts with a 'd' and then has 'lotus' in the title as well, if you wanted to check it out. I've got some restrictions on my mobility, because of my spine, and tbh I haven't found any of the prams that easy to fold. But friends with children have said you end up not folding the pram every day, only if you use the car.

I'd say the SilverCross (which we ordered today) is medium hard to fold. Many claim one-hand folding, again that wasn't so easy for me, though it's a good way to narrow it down.

We went for a pram that has a cot suitable for all-night sleeping (for trips away early on) and a sitting up function. The priority for me was steadiness and ease of pushing. Also weight (in case of stairs etc). Overall bulk was also a bit of a consideration as we live in London.

AIDE2424 · 03/03/2019 20:17

We’ve decided on the oyster 3, it easy to fold and fold with the seat attached the car seat that comes with is isofix and isize registered also the pram seat grows a little so hoping that will mean it’ll last a little longer, but the only way we decided was to go and test them out and even then we’ve done that 3 times to make sure we are happy with our choices.

cocodash · 03/03/2019 20:24

@AIDE2424 honestly I'm the same as you, have absolutly no desire to breastfeed and I feel bad about it. I thought I would change my mind too but nope. Might try it when baby arrives... Maybe. I do feel a bit guilty that I feel like that but I can't help it.

Also Ivy is on our shortlist of its a girl!! Great minds!!

DH managed to feel a big kick from baby tonight! Waheyyy!!! I think he's thought I've been exaggerating about how strong babys kicks were getting lol

Kentishgal · 03/03/2019 20:29

AIDE2424 absolutely not - I hate that people judge and criticise. Fab if you want and are able to bit personally I had real difficulty with BF - firstly I have really inverted nipples so was always facing an uphill battle but secondly I had a emcs and lost about 3 and half litres of blood (which I now know affects your milk supply apparently) and spent first day in intensive care so didn't get to hold my daughter till the following day by which time she'd had numerous bottles - I desperately tried to get her go latch for the next 6 weeks but she never latched once. So it was already difficult enough but to add insult to injury I had people guilt tripping me (not my husband - he was great fortunately) and making out like I hadn't tried! I just thought really, why on earth do people behave like that. This time I will give it a go but fully expecting it not to work and to be honest, I'm really not bothered - there are far more important things to worry about!! And actually, I intend to concentrate on enjoying my time with baby and making sure she is relaxed etc. So sod anyone that says otherwise! Rant over!

jcq17 · 03/03/2019 20:32

@BeckyButterfly my bump was
So sore last week! Feels much better now. Can feel movements as of last week too which is lovely. Iv still got no bump at all though at 19+4!

HchyScott · 03/03/2019 20:45

@AIDE2424 not at all, I totally believe it’s personal choice and you shouldn’t be bullied by anyone towards any choice. Everything Regina said was spot on.
Weirdly, I really wanted to give bf a go, my mum and two sisters only managed a couple of days doing it but I was keen to give it a good go. Now... I’m not! I’ve been reading Giovanna fletchers book happy mum happy baby and I’ve loved it but every time she mentions breast feeding it makes me feel sick! Nothing to do with her or boobs or the descriptions but now The thought of me doing it and thinking about the practicalities of it are making me queasy so I’ll go with how I feel at the time I think. Could be hormones though, had my first full meltdown today, I’m talking, on the floor fully sobbing because I was upset with DH. Took myself to bed and cried myself to sleep at lunchtime. Feeling a little better now but am waiting to discuss it with him tomorrow when I’m hopefully abit more stable!!
Basically think he’s burying his head in the sand about money and the things we need to do before baby arrives. He agreed to go to his parents today to talk their extension plans and how he can help when I’ve beeb waiting for months and months for things to be done at our own house. Gentle nagging and joking is obviously not enough to get him to pull his finger out!!

Capybaras · 03/03/2019 20:49

@BeckyButterfly my bump is really sore if I haven't wee'd in a while (such as if I wake up in the middle of the night) as it's stretched more than usual!

Those who don't want to breastfeed - it's completely your choice, and you shouldn't feel guilty. It's not for everyone, as pp had said as long as baby is fed and you are both happy and healthy then that is the best thing!. I'm intending to if I can, but it annoys me that a few older people who I've come across since pregnant have told me 'breast is best' - which is completely unsolicited advice! It's no-ones business at all!

AIDE2424 · 03/03/2019 21:14

I feel much better now, as long as our baby’s are happy and healthy that’s all that matters!

DP keeps feeling when baby is moving but not strong enough yet bless him!

Done some wedding planning tonight we get married 3rd of August next year so will have a little flower girl there now who will be either 1 or nearly one depending if she decides to make a late appearance.

BeckyButterfly · 03/03/2019 21:28

@AIDE2424 I loved planning my wedding! I want to do it all over again (minus the expense) 😂

ReginaPhalange89 · 03/03/2019 21:31

Sorry for the change in subject but anyone else not had sex for a LONG time ?? I'm 20 weeks and we haven't since about 9 weeks 😪 we were supposed to tonight but OH is out cold and has been for hours ! He's back on a set of nights tomorrow 😣 I think my virginity is growing back ! Haha

AIDE2424 · 03/03/2019 21:36

@BeckyButterfly I know the expense! panicking about buying my dress though wanted to buy a dress in April but now I’ll be very pregnant then so waiting till next April 🤞🏻

Kentishgal · 03/03/2019 21:49

AIDE2424 how exciting! reginaphalange - not since conception!!

StargazyDrifter · 03/03/2019 21:51

Regina me neither!

cravingmilkshake · 03/03/2019 21:55

We didn't have sex for the first 14 weeks but since then- once every Saturday morning so 6 times. It's killing my husband as we did the deed around 9/10 a week. I just feel odd doing it really!

ReginaPhalange89 · 03/03/2019 21:59

Oh see it's not unusual for us to go a few weeks but not this long 🙈 OH works constant nights and he's doing lots of over time so he's barely home when the kids are asleep , proving to be difficult ! Although to be fair I'd not even given it a thought until a week or so ago ! But I mentioned it and he said we'd have to sort that out when he was off.... And he's just slept instead 🙄 so annoyed

BeckyButterfly · 03/03/2019 22:01

@ReginaPhalange89 it was my hubby’s birthday yesterday so we did it for the first time since before I found out I was pregnant (not because he demanded it or anything, I made that sound like I was obliged 😂) We we’re away for the weekend so I decided to give it a go. I just find it a bit strange and can’t really quite get into it properly.

@AIDE2424 I got my dress from an outlet store local to me because I preferred being able to take it away with me there and then rather than having to order it and wait so if you are pushed for time, that might be an option for you. The Wed2Be stores are meant to be fab if you have one near you.

BeckyButterfly · 03/03/2019 22:04

Oh and not to mention that the outlet stores are considerably cheaper! I got my dress, veil and bolero type thing for £1000 altogether.

AIDE2424 · 03/03/2019 22:12

@BeckyButterfly yes I’ve been and had a look pre pregnancy and seen some I love in my local wed2be so that’s where I’m going to get my dress I think x

cocodash · 03/03/2019 22:37

Another vote for Wed to be. That's where I got my dress for my wedding last year. "The elle" www.wed2b.co.uk/elle
I abso loved it and again was able to take it away that day! It was mega cheap in the world of wedding dresses!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 04/03/2019 10:19

@Capybaras thank you. I was gutted when I missed the deal in Asda
