Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@AutumnLee12. Congratulations on your baby boy Archie! I also had a quick labour so know how you feel....I was shell shocked that I was at home 9.40 and had baby in my arms at 10.40!! X

AvoidingMarking · 19/02/2019 17:34

I went for a little walk earlier to take my DD to the park. Had to stop 3 times on the way due to a pain in my side. Not sure I'm up to long walks. Feel like such a whale!

HugoBearsMummy · 19/02/2019 17:36

@AvoidingMarking ah ok, when I asked the midwife she said pretty much straight away Hmm but with the hospital being a 25 min drive away with no traffic, plus child care issues, I don't want to do that in case the pains taper off to nothing I'd rather wait till I'm definitely in established labour... so I'm a little confused! I'll just see what happens and play by ear!

AvoidingMarking · 19/02/2019 18:21

I think you need to ring and warn them you've gone into labour but they don't expect you to come in until they are 7 minutes apart. They need time for the antibiotics to go in, every 4 hours you'll have a new IV drip and they like to get two doses in before birth.

I am only 15 mins from the hospital though so maybe different for me.

Susannach · 19/02/2019 19:23

@1stTimeTina You must have been due the same day as me, and ditto on friends having babies left right and centre too. Two new arrivals in my friendship circle this week and now it’s just me still preggo!

Congratulations AutumnLee and detachablehoof on your new arrivals!

HugoBearsMummy · 19/02/2019 19:31

@AvoidingMarking I see, it's annoying as my normal midwife told me one thing, a midwife in the hospital told me another thing, NHS website says something different & other ppl I know with strep have told me something else haha. I think I'll just play it by ear and call triage when I think I'm having regular painful contractions

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 19/02/2019 20:23

If you don’t have time for the anti-bs, it’s more than likely not an issue.

The vast majority of women are completely ignorant of whether they are positive or not, and if those that are positive, a very minuscule number have any complications.

Also, there is a chance you are no longer positive anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

beckyxo · 19/02/2019 21:38

So it's my due date today and still no baby! I've had a bit of back ache but apart from that absolutely nothing! I am so ready for her to come! I've tried all the old wives tales and still nothing! Anyone else getting a little bit fed up waiting? I think it's the unknown of when it might happen which is the worse thing! 😫 Congratulations to everyone on their little babies so far! Hope you all are having a lovely evening x

HugoBearsMummy · 19/02/2019 21:52

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking Yeah I don't think I'm going to worry about it too much! Who knows what will happen on the day.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 19/02/2019 23:08

@HugoBearsMummy I tested positive in my last pregnancy, due to a severe needle phobia I opted to forgo the drip in labour, and instead they knew to monitor more closely once he was born.. everything was fine.

Also, more recently... I am of the opinion that I wouldn’t want to use anti-bs due to the increasing ineffectuality of them due to overuse... that said, my phobia is a lot better now and I’ve tested negative in this pregnancy, so I’ve not had to think quite so much about it. Who knows what decision I’d have made 🤷🏻‍♀️

hayley013 · 20/02/2019 12:49

And she's here! Baby girl arrived 01:04 after a very different labour to dd. All is good though, just waiting to go home ❤️

D day for me today! Midwife was supposed to make a house call this morning for a sweep but apparently it'll be the afternoon now...I have to go out later so I hope I don't miss them!

bubblybrit · 20/02/2019 13:15

Congratulations @hayley013. Hope you both get home soon so that you can get cuddles from your baby girl. There is nothing better....I say that as Anna is currently getting mummy cuddles after a huge feed! Xx

She is gorgeous @Alicejj8x. Congratulations. Aurora is a beautiful name! I thought the pushing part of my labour was quick but nothing compared to 8 minutes. Whoa! Xx

lanalawr · 20/02/2019 13:58

Thank you everyone.
Crazy to think my due date is tmo but she's already here!

I nooo I don't no how I got so lucky with 8 mins of pushing but the pain was so worth it .

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 20/02/2019 17:41

Congrats!!

With my first I was pushing for around an hour and a half! 😬😂

mummymummymummummum · 20/02/2019 18:37

Congratulations both! 😍

Induction day today, 41+3. I had decided to try to push it back a couple of days unless the doctor could give me a medical reason not to. So I phoned up to try and sort this. A lovely midwife listened to what I was asking and went to talk to the consultant for me. Answer came back: induction rebooked for Sunday (42 weeks)! I didn't even ask for that as I thought it would be a big no. So pleased! I really feel that I've got a good chance of going spontaneously before then which is preferable for me. I don't need to go in for monitoring or anything. 🙌

babyp160 · 20/02/2019 18:38

Congrats @Alicejj8x and a little early too. Gorgeous xx

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 20/02/2019 19:29

@mummymummymummummum good luck with spontaneous labour! I’m a week overdue tomorrow... I think I’m going to go for a sweep to try and avoid a more invasive intervention 😬

Lookingforadvice123 · 20/02/2019 19:42

Had my sweep with the midwife, I think it was successful, she could feel baby's head and said I'm 1cm dilated. But cervix still thick. So don't know what to make of that, and I don't think it'll have done the trick as my sweep with DS had me crampy and sporting straight away, none of that this time.

Officially overdue tomorrow. Hmph. I've gone from not wanting the baby to come early to wanting him here now.
