@AliceRR using/pouring some warm water on you while you pee should also help ease any stinging

AliceRR · 17/02/2019 11:46

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking @AngelaB06 Thanks yes I have been squirting some water. Just thought it wa diff it stings more now than a few days ago but could be healing. MW is due to visit me today / tomorrow so will ask her

lanalawr · 17/02/2019 14:19

@AliceRR I'd be interested to hear what they say. Mine stung more a couple of days later. I can't remember what it was like with dd though. Make sure you're drinking plenty. If you're more dehydrated it could sting more because you're urine is more concentrated.

Fredthespider · 17/02/2019 16:44

My stitches hurt more a few days later. I think it was a combination of the anaesthetic and the painkillers wearing off, and also the swelling going down a little which made the stitches pull a little as they were tight in a couple places.

AliceRR · 17/02/2019 16:46

I think the dehydration might be a point as I’m not drinking v much and it occurred to me it might have been worse this morning when it was FMU

hayley013 · 17/02/2019 19:02

I remember this when having dd and think it was a combo of healing and bruising. Salt baths are good for stitch healing and will keep it nice and clean x

DeliberatelyGinger · 18/02/2019 14:35

OMG my hip is killing me. It started to hurt at the joint a couple of days ago and now I can barely walk round the house. Any tips?

1stTimeTina · 18/02/2019 15:45

@DeliberatelyGinger mine plays up occasionally but mainly when I'm over doing it. My advice would be to rest up and depending how long you have left to try and go see the doc. Hope it eases up soon for you xx

Susannach · 19/02/2019 08:39

2 days overdue now... This baby is officially later than both her siblings. Come on baby!

Anyone else over and still waiting?

DeliberatelyGinger · 19/02/2019 08:41

Not over due yet. I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow. Really hoping the midwife gets back to me about my hip though as I'm worried it will affect my birth plan.

HugoBearsMummy · 19/02/2019 08:43

Sorry to de-rail but is anyone else still waiting impatiently for their baby to arrive?
I've got 1 week 1 day to go & for some reason have woke up feeling really crap today like I just cba to do anything (not an option as DS is home from nursery today) I've been really busy the past 2 weeks since I left work but have now done all my nesting so am wondering if I'm having a little hormonal 'crash' ? Just wanted to vent really... congrats to everyone who's babies are here

My little girl was born on Friday afternoon after a very long labour ending with forceps delivery. I actually found labour really manageable and satisfying, although I was pretty upset it ended in forceps. I didn't bond instantly with her (too tired!!) but she's perfect and doing really well. She was 8lb 7oz and is drinking a lot of bottles so I think she's going to be quite a chubby baby!

I'm also struggling with painful stitches. I'm terrified of them getting infected. They are still bleeding a bit and get so painful at night when I'm not taking regular painkillers. Wish they'd give you stronger pain relief for them. Recovery is harder than I expected - tried to go shopping yesterday but had to go home after a few minutes as I started feeling dizzy. Aside from the painful stitches I actually feel pretty well, but evidently I don't have much stamina yet!

My little girl seems like a really easy contented baby overall, but last night absolutely refused to be put down in her crib or pram. Sad I got so upset that she wouldn't sleep that my husband ended up taking her downstairs for several hours while I -cried my eyes out because I'm a useless mum- slept upstairs and now my mum is here looking after her while he sleeps (and I should too!). Big advantage to bottle feeding is that I can have a break I guess!

I'm a bit behind on all the updates but good luck to those yet to give birth, and congratulations to those who have got their babies. And Huge hugs to @alicerr I hope you are getting lots of love and support at this time.

Oops strike through fail!

1stTimeTina · 19/02/2019 09:12

I'm 40+2, I have about 5 friends who were due around the same time and I appear to be the only one still waiting which is frustrating but I lost my mucus plug yesterday (sorry TMI) so that was exciting ha! Still no sign of an actual baby though, induction booked for Sun but just really hoping she makes and appearance on her own before then!! Breaking up from work was really strange for me , this is my first baby so had nothing much to fill my days other than lunch dates with friends etc, I know this is sad but I started following Mrs Hinch on instagram and all the new cleaning tips have been keeping me quite nicely occupied , squeegying the stairs is a personal fave .... 'hangs head in shame' haha.

Congrats to all those who've had their babies !!!

And to the ones who are still waiting , hopefully we'll be joining them ASAP! In the meantime make the most of the guilt free ice cream binge 👍

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 19/02/2019 09:25

I’m 40+5 today... Ive got my next midwife appointment on Thursday when I’ll be a week overdue, still deciding whether to have a sweep or not. One part of me thinks I don’t want any intervention at all, but another part of me thinks this fairly non invasive intervention may save me from induction! Still weighing it up..

Glad it’s half term, I’m having a lazy week.. just had one of my kids bring me tea in bed 🙌🏼

Lookingforadvice123 · 19/02/2019 09:51

I'm still waiting! Not actually due until tomorrow, but I've been feeling weird and in limbo the last couple of days, as DS was born at 39 weeks so by this stage (39+6) I had a 6 day old! I've got a sweep booked for tomorrow morning so I'm hoping that gets things moving, as although I'm clinging on to my sleep while I can, part of me wants to get it over with and have the baby here now so DS can get used to him. Plus it's half term for us next week (25th Feb) which will be ideal if the baby is here, as it'll give DS age 3 a chance to adjust to him being here without being shipped off to pre-school every morning.

Good luck to all those still waiting, especially for your first. I remember how anxious I was for DS to arrive (and thankfully he was early) whereas I think on subsequent babies it's a bit different, I've not wanted this baby to come early at all.

HugoBearsMummy · 19/02/2019 09:57

@AliceRR I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope you are getting all the support you need at this difficult time ❤️

AliceRR · 19/02/2019 10:27

Thank you. We have a lot of support in real life and this week we are busying ourselves with some of the practical things. Love to you all and your lovely little babies 💕

hayley013 · 19/02/2019 12:07

I'm 40+4 today, had a second sweep yesterday which has kicked things off. Currently having contractions every 5-6 mins but they're not quite unbearable yet. Feel a bit confused as to when to ring triage, was 2.5cm dilated at sweep yesterday so hoping not long

HugoBearsMummy · 19/02/2019 12:17

@hayley013 Yay that's fantastic news. I'm also worried about when to go in because I'm Strep B positive so need IV Antibiotics ASAP when in labour but I'm concerned about travelling to hospital but not being dilated enough or whatever and then being sent home. We have DS3 and limited childcare options so that would be very annoying! I was induced last time so no idea what normal labour is like.
Maybe go in as soon as you feel you can not cope? Good luck

AvoidingMarking · 19/02/2019 13:22

@HugoBearsMummy I have strep b too and was told to ring when they are 7 mins apart in stead of the normal 5 mins apart

AutumnLee12 · 19/02/2019 13:32

Our little boy Archie arrived on Saturday 8lb8 after a very speedy but safe delivery!
After being induced on Friday afternoon but it not being in right/coming out I started having contractions early hours of Saturday morning, these then became unbearable by 11am where I opted for pethidine and was 3cm dilated

At around 1440 I ended up being locked in the toilet and having the urge to push screaming for help, managed to open to the door and my partner and mum thought I was overreacting 😂. Turns out the pethidine worked wonders and I was fully dilated ready to give birth! Ended up going straight to the delivery suite where he was born within 20 mins and literally flew out. So it's all still a blur and very surreal but we're both doing well!

All the midwives were very surprised I delivered so quickly for a first baby and laughed that I should consider a home birth if I have anymore 😂

@AliceRR I'm so sorry to hear about your little girl, I can't even begin to imagine how you are. Sending hugs and I hope you have all the support you need right now ❤️Thanks

Squashbanana1 · 19/02/2019 13:47

39 weeks and still playing the waiting game, had a sweep yesterday and I think may have lost some of the mucous plug? Not sure much else is happening though??
Trying lots of walks and hot curries! It's hard to distract myself from it too!!

UndercoverLauren · 19/02/2019 14:08

I'm 39+5, my mum has been here since Saturday after a false alarm. Before she got here I was stressing over her missing the birth, now I'm stressing over keeping her waiting too long. Can't win! Been scrubbing floors and going on long walks, but no sign yet.
