In case anybody is still buying things Boots maternity pads are brilliant Tesco’s are not they made me itch. Breast pads I have some bamboo ones from Amazon but I also bought some reusable ones from Asda you get 6 for Β£1 they are really good so far no leaks.

HidCat · 25/02/2019 19:42

@SharonO225 glad you've got a plan in place, hopefully you'll start spontaneously regardless. My DS was long and skinny (we're both short so not sure what happened!) at 91st centile height (54cms) but only 6lb 8oz! If we'd had growth calculation using femur length they'd probably have predicted a 9/10lb baby!

@Wineandchoccy I spotted the Asda reusable pads on Saturday, May pick some up.

Gronk27 · 25/02/2019 20:32

@wineandchoccy I got Boots ones so that's good to know. I ended up getting Lansinoh pads, think they were on offer.

My measurements are all over the place having being done by three different midwives, my current midwife said it's probably because it has been done by different midwives but the next one needs to be on track or it will be a scan. Do they give an idea of babies size if you don't have a scan? Or is that impossible as it doesn't seem very accurate anyway!

Angelmiracle · 25/02/2019 21:00

@Gronk27 I measured a week ahead with DS never sent for a scan no prediction on weight. Went 7 days over he was 9lb 9oz. Consultant said they wouldn't let that happen these days Hmm So getting growth scans now with all measurements on 50th percentile apparently. I'm having a hard time believing them 🀣 Who knows maybe is a tad smaller lol

@SharonO225 I had to give in and take ranitidine- after clearing it with GP. It's great but makes you burp a lot. Glad they're not letting you go over- sending lots of vibes to baby to get a move on lol. Would love to go earlier this time and not later!

@Squirtlesmumagain it's reassuring to hear from @Wineandchoccy and going by threads I've read an epidural second time around has a lot more positive outcomes. If medically you have to have it - ask for a lower dose so you can be in upright positions at least and if wireless monitoring is an option at your hospital- you may already have said it is! So that would be good. Or ask if it isn't topped up to feel the pushing stage. I've no experience but have been considering this for myself.

Interesting point @Angelmiracle - wonder if it can be sited but not used if they are so concerned, as it were. Will keep that in mind for when we get that far!

@Gronk27 The meadurements are supposed to give a guide as to whether you are roughly "average" and inline with your weeks. There is a correlation but as to exactly what it is beyond cm to weeks which I was told last time, I'm not sure.
I get lots of different measurements, bump cm is above her current scan weight but then the midwife who did it on Sunday at monitoring got it inline with the scans (at measuring 34cm at 36+4).

I'm a numpty and loaded the photo with my details rather than the one where I'd carefully blacked it all out πŸ™ˆ I've reported it to Mumsnet to remove but in the mean time I'll assume none of you are identity stealing types........

WhatALearningCurve · 25/02/2019 22:07

Oh good. They've sorted it now. As I was saying.

@Gronk27 in my experience so far - bump and growth are not related ha. I'm measuring huge so got sent for a growth scan. At 34 weeks they thought he was already about 8lb. Growth scan at 37 and he's measuring at about 7lb 4

WhatALearningCurve · 25/02/2019 22:08

@Gronk27 the alarming curve is me being measured. Final one is from the scan

Gronk27 · 25/02/2019 22:12

@whatalearningcurve I was tagged in it obviously and I didn’t even see the first photo so fast work! Oh gosh! From what I’ve heard it’s not very accurate.

SharonO225 · 25/02/2019 22:25

@Gronk27 @WhatALearningCurve I hope it's not that accurate lol for my sake Confused the consultant said that it could be her length making her so big as her femur measurements are the largest so she's got quite long legs, bit for them to get an approx they have to calculate the different measurements of femur, spine, belly circumference etc to work it all out so if she's very long it can add onto the calculation to make her seem heavier. But because they can't be sure they then can't take the risk.
My oldest is 14 but before I had him I had a growth scan which estimated him to be 6lb 4oz, 3 days later he was born at 4lb 13oz, but very long.. lol he's almost 6ft now

SharonO225 · 25/02/2019 22:27

Iv been having growth scans throughout, every 2-3wks and she has come up around 4wks ahead each time so it's been consistent and they have been happy to monitor but as she came off the 95th today that's when they decided an induction would be booked just incase

SharonO225 · 25/02/2019 22:30

@Angelmiracle I'm hoping I can just get through with gaviscon as it's working so well for me at the min Wink until baby makes her appearance. With all the others the heartburn vanished after delivery so I'm hoping it'll be the same again this time too x

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 26/02/2019 08:45

My first day of mat leave was very productive and the baby's room is nearly sorted. I've done too much though and woke up with very sore hips!
I've also had to go to the toilet quick quickly over the last couple of days and was wondering if it could be the start of the wonderfully named "clear out". Did anyone have that with their previous pregnancies and how long afterwards did you go into labour?

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 26/02/2019 08:46

quite quickly

SquirtlesMumAgain · 26/02/2019 09:22

My body started clearing out about 36 weeks I think last time, and labour at 38 weeks exactly.
Seemed to be more to do with baby dropping than anything else in my case

SharonO225 · 26/02/2019 09:38

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I only had the 'clearout' with my last pregnancy with DD and it started after my waters broke.

My waters went then clearout started along with contractions and she was delivered 1hr 49mins later.
Never had it with any of the others x

Hermagsjesty · 26/02/2019 09:56

Just catching up on the thread. Finding this last stretch quite tough going now...

Have been having on/ off contractions since things got started last Monday but they keep just reaching a plateau and not getting any stronger so am stuck at 2cm dilated and in quite a lot of discomfort. Midwife gave me a sweep yesterday- no action, but a lot of watery discharge... I feel like I’m endlessly on the phone to triage with this one. Wish he’d make his mind up!!

CaseofEllen · 26/02/2019 10:39

Morning everyone, catching up on thread. Hope everyone is okay and not feeling too uncomfortable and impatient!

I have my last growth scan tomorrow at 36+6 and am really hoping they talk about inducing me. I know people say how crappy induction can be but with reduced movements and the anxiety that brings plus him being a big boy I really want him out! Am actually pretty nervous that they will say they're going to let me go naturally and I'll end up 42+ weeks.

On top of that my dog has been sick a couple of times and is completely off her food, even her favourite treats. Wants to be alone and moves when we go and sit near her so trying to give her space now. The tears just keep flowing recently!

But we are all nearly there so trying to keep positive! Xx

BadBadBeans · 26/02/2019 10:54

@Gronk27 the first GP said he could see why I had wanted to get it checked, but thought that in this case it was due to me being hyper-aware of changes due to my family history and that he wouldn't worry about it. The second GP said if it was any other woman without my history she would not give it a second thought, but because of my history she said to just keep an eye on it and come back a) if it changed or b) if I found I was still feeling bothered by it. The trouble is I am v anxious about breast changes so I will probably never not be bothered by it!!!! However, my friend very kindly showed me a skin tag on her nipple yesterday (got to love a friend who will share) and it looks quite a bit like mine, so I am feeling a little more reassured. I think probably I will just wait and see what my BRCA result is this week, and see how I feel from there.

@PassTheAfterEights I'm glad to hear your mole was fine in the end!

@Wineandchoccy wow! I was in maternity jeans till four months last time! Didn't want to let go of them - they were so darn comfy!

@HidCat I don't know, but I would have thought just treating him the same as everyone else is probably the best way? I guess by the time you go in to see people they will know whether or not they have been successful, but may not have announced it yet - so you will have no way of knowing what his situation will be. So it would be difficult to adjust your behaviour anyway, without knowing what you are adjusting for, if that makes sense.

@WhatALearningCurve whoa, what a growth curve!!!! And I thought mine was steep :D You poor thing!

@Hermagsjesty Goodness that is a long time to be in the early stages. Do they have a plan for if things don't progress soon?

@CaseofEllen fingers crossed for an induction for you. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. Will you take her to the vet, or are you giving it some time to see if it resolves itself?

I'm so flipping uncomfortable now it is ridiculous. My friend came over last night for a bit of craft and chat, and she kept noticing me struggling to manoeuvre myself to reach the coffee table etc, so she just kept leaning over and passing me / taking from me whatever was needed! So funny - I hadn't really realised I was struggling until she dived in to help!

Gronk27 · 26/02/2019 11:12

@badbadbeans uncertainty is so annoying and frustrating Flowers my nipples have weird lumps abs bumps but from what I’ve found out it’s all hormonal in my case. I do have a mole that’s changed on one boob that I will show a GP when I next go. It must be so hard with your family history and anxiety. Hope you feel reassured that both GPS are not alarmed and that you’re being looked after in general-getting tests, etc.

I’ve realised when DH is here I ask him to pass me everything!

CaseofEllen · 26/02/2019 11:23

@BadBadBeans I also have a skin tag on one nipple develop over the last 8/10 weeks I'd say. You can't help but worry about these things but I do hope you're feeling a bit more reassured! Keep pressing the issue if not Thanks

We will see how she goes today, let her rest and give her water (out of a human glass as she thinks she is having 'our water' that way and will drink it all. Cheeky bugger!) but if no better by this evening we will get a vets appointment first thing tomorrow. She had cystitis before Christmas so I am worried that is reoccurring but she looks okay down below (sorry TMI) so 🀞🏼 xx

Harley8888 · 26/02/2019 17:41

Just catching up with the thread. Can't believe how close we all are now! How is everyone feeling in these final few weeks? Especially those who don't have induction/c section dates booked... I hate the idea of 'it can happen any time' makes me feel very uneasy! Blush

37 weeks today and baby is definitely running out of space in there. He seems to push his bottom out very hard at one specific place above my belly button and it's become quite raw and tender in that area. Heartburn and nausea has been HORRIBLE today and constant I've had an ice pack on my chest most of the day.

HidCat · 26/02/2019 18:14

Hope everyone is doing ok today and that babies / dogs / other kids are ok too.

Think I may have lost my plug today - clear stretchy mucus unlike my normal discharge. Fingers crossed it's the start of something in the coming week ish as had lots of low pressure today as well. I can but hope anyway!

Gronk27 · 26/02/2019 18:26

@harley8888 i’m a week ahead of you and for a couple of weeks she’s been pushing her bum out on the top right of my bump, sometimes quite far! When she goes up high I get heartburn and when she drops low nothing!
