Hi Slacker - as I said I only had a very quick experience at St M's - afraid I'm not quite brave enough to attempt home birth (wimp )only needed gas and air 1st time but ended up quick ventouse as dd getting distressed. Hoping that won't happen again this time and definitely hoping for a quick exit. Suppose we chose it over SM as friends had excellent experience with prem baby there.

It was just that Lightwind had mentioned getting pains - not nice - luckily didn't suffer myself but have had friends who did - sorry to have reminded you hope it doesn't happen this time - just make sure you use your pelvic floor lots!!

MERLYPUSS · 12/09/2007 16:58

Had consultant appt on Monday. He is booking me in for a section at 38 weeks all being well. Dont want to find out the 'flavour' of the twinnies as I want a surprise and SIL will go and buy the frilliest,m pinkest outfits possible if they are 'pink flavoured'. Am staying put here even though they may be January babies.
Will keep you guys updated.

Hello all!! Can't believe we;re at the second scan stage already - mad!! Congrats on the results coming in!! I'm feeling much more bonoded with my bump now. I definitely look pregant and with lots of movement I finally feel pregant which is fab as I was getting a bit worried!!!
Saw the midwife yesterday and I've got sugar in my urine so I've got to go back next week. It's weird cause I have a balanced diet and I'm not eating anything different to last time. I'm actually eating a lot less chocolate in fact so I hope everything's ok. We went to see The Police on saturday adn they were absolutely fantastic. Tiring day though especially when I had to stand on a train for 20 mins cause no bugger would get up and then going home I nearly got squished in the train doors!!!
We've all been a bit full of cold so feeling shattered now and coming out in spots again!!!
Hope everyone's well!!

jooseyfruit · 12/09/2007 20:45

had scan today, all was well, and we are having a boy, yay! It was what i was secretly wishing for! Went straight out and bought blue stuff.
Leesmum, hope yours went o.k and ds enjoyed the experience!
We've nicknamed ours "stumpy" because looking at the scan screen it looked like he had no legs below the knee, reassured this wasn't the case by the scan lady!!

leesmum · 13/09/2007 10:26

had scan yesterday and everything where it should be.......we are having another BOY

We are over the moon but sadly my lovely dad died last night. He got took back into hospital yesterday morning and i dont think his body could take any more

We knew he was very ill but though he had a little bit longer

Dp and i went to see him straight after having scan and he looked at picture and said "great, another lad for the gang"

Glad everyone elses scans went well(life goes on eh?)

Take care and make sure you give everyone you love an extra big hug and kiss today x

Slacker · 13/09/2007 10:47

Wow Leesmum, yet another boy! Maybe I'll have the first girl scan (wishful thinking!).

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, it's wonderful that you were able to see him before he went, and say goodbye to him. I didn't get that opportunity with either of my parents so hope that you can take some comfort from having been there for him. Hope your DP will take extra good care of you over the coming weeks and months, it's a hard thing to have to go through.

Redbush · 13/09/2007 13:20

Leesmum - SO SORRY to hear about your Dad. It must have been a very mixed few weeks for you - so hard! So happy the scan was all good news for you. Look after yourself

Jo9977 · 13/09/2007 14:13

Sorry to hear about your dad Leesmum - very mixed emotions for you. Give yourself time and space to grieve though if you possibly can. Thinking of you. xx

alkar · 13/09/2007 14:51

Congratulations on the scan leesmum there are loads of boys now. Sorry to hear about your dad though x

violeta · 13/09/2007 14:56

Leesmum: So sorry to hear about your dad.

Good news about everyone's scans! Well, looks as if I'm the first to get the news of a girl on the thread! Had my extra anomaly scan this morning because of the high risk Downs result from the blood tests. Thankfully, everything is looking as it should be, the consultant didn't find anything to give concern and we can now go on as normal. Yippee! And just to top off the good news of the morning, the consultant seemed pretty sure that we're having a girl as well!

Gill79 · 13/09/2007 15:03

Hi everyone, I'm 19 +3, due 4th Feb (1st pregnancy). I'm not really sure if I;ve felt the baby move yet and want to find out what other people's experiences are as it's making me feel quite worried a lot of the time...

What I'm feeling is like a little twinge, just a few times a day, which if I wasn't pregnant I wouldn't really notice, and can't really differentiate from digestion. I know lots of people feel things a lot earlier so wonder when you were first sure it was the baby (if it's your 1st) how many times a day you feel them, what it feels like etc.

Would really appreciate hearing from you! 20 week scan is next week but really want to reassure myself all is well otherwise I'll be so nervous going in....

jooseyfruit · 13/09/2007 15:17

leesmum, so sorry to hear your news.

Gill79, not unusual not to feel movement til later with your first child. contact your midwife if you're that concerned, she won't mind, thats what she's there for. It's difficult to describe what the first movements feel like, a fluttering sort of bubbly feeling, but everyones different. Try not to worry though.

rozzyraspberry · 13/09/2007 16:28

Really sorry about your dad Leesmum.

But I'm really happy that your scan went well and that your dad hung on long enough to hear you were having another boy and see the scan photo!!

Congratulations to all others who've had scans

Jo9977 · 13/09/2007 16:41

Hi Gil79!

I'm in the same situation totally - 19 weeks and not really felt anything yet! So many people have said it's later for first timers and up to 22 weeks so no need to worry!

And also the 20 week scan - so looking forward to it, so dreading it! What if... are you the same?

Jo9977 · 13/09/2007 16:42

And fantastic news on all the scans everyone!

gingermumi · 13/09/2007 18:32

So, so sorry leesmum. take care.

Welcome to newbies. Can't beleive it's all boys so far! With that and twins, Feb definitely has some peculiarities! I wonder if it'd a national trend!

Lucyand2 · 14/09/2007 08:11

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad leesmum, I'm sending lots of hugs your way.

Gill79 · 14/09/2007 09:53

Hi Jo9977 - yes indeed am very apprehensive about the scan- it's such a sudden moment of truth isn't it? Best of luck with your scan (next week?) - let us know how you get on!

mutha2beagain · 14/09/2007 10:17

Very sorry Leesmum to hear about your dad - it must be a very difficult and sad time for you and hope you are getting lots of tlc.

Great to hear about all the good feedback from second round of scans ... and that some of you are finding out the flavour! I'm getting pestered like mad by my friends to find out what I'm having but I really want to wait. Guessed I was having a boy pretty early on with DS but I have no sense of what this one is .... still all will be revealed.... in another 20 weeks or so!!!!

Glad to have a decent bit of weather here and I've taken my first delivery of maternity smocks ... v exciting..

Egg · 14/09/2007 13:13

Hi ladies. Just back online after a four week break. Have not read much of the threads yet but saw Leesmum's sad news. I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Feeling very emotional today and tears have sprung... at least he got to hear you were expecting a boy (congratulations!) and was happy. I hope you are doing ok and have lots of support. It must be a very hard time for you with such happy and sad things at the same time.

Will be back later after reading all other news. Hope it is all good. Everything ok here as far as I know, scan next Thursday.

Egg · 14/09/2007 13:28

Ok so have had a quick read but to be honest did not take it all in... four weeks is an awfully long time to be away from a chatty group like you lot! Didn't see any more bad news but think I saw we now have FIVE set of twins???????????????????????????

What on earth?????

Having recently moved to Winchester, I think it is the twins capital of the UK. I see at least two sets a day, and that's the ones I can tell are definitely twins. It's mad.

Have got myself a doula booked for when the babies come. She is lovely, lives locally, and is flexible and happy to do anything to help! I feel a lot more relaxed about things now.

I have a feeling I am having two girls. Probably because I kind of want two boys, but will really be happy whatever the sex as keep worrying something is wrong (no reason to really, except one seems to move all the time, and one only rarely). Six days to wait...

Jo9977 · 14/09/2007 13:46

Welcome back Egg and happy reading for 4 weeks catch up!!!

How's Winchester - we visited for a weekend earlier in the year and found it absolutely beautiful...you're very fortunate to be living there (Coventry is nice but hasn't QUITE got the charm!)

Your scan's same day as mine - really hope we have some great news that day!

When's your scan Gill79?

Gill79 · 14/09/2007 14:06

It's Tuesday morning! Have got a long weekend before that so no doubt will spend a lot of time lying on the floor deep breathing, drinking cold drinks and eating chocolate and all the other things that are supposed to make them wriggle!
Just realised I have put on 6 kilos in 7 weeks - didn't really think I'd put on too much weight apart from the huge bump but just thought about where I would end up if I continue on the same trajectory for the next 21 weeks

wahidc · 14/09/2007 14:09

Hi all
My scan is Tuesday morning tooo. Not sure if gonna find out sex of bubba tho.. Am 20 weeks with first baby and can really feel baby moving loads nowadays. Due 1st Feb 2008. Have been suffering from back ache in shoulder blade on right side only - anybody else with that ??
Anyone else in East Grinstead due around same time as me???

wahidc · 14/09/2007 14:19

Have just read some of the messages posted here - should have done that before I posted mine. Have been a bit insensitive saying that I've felt baby move loads, but I've read it can start any time between 18 and 22 weeks so try not to worry those who havn't felt anything yet. My mum said that at the beginning you can only feel it if your lying down and totally relaxed, try massaging your bump lying on the bed, thats what worked for me.....all the best xxxx
