Hi guys
haven't been v chatty lately but have been following everyones progress. More twins eh!!
Am so glad someone else is experiencing squirms - everyone hs been telling me fluttering and mine feels like a little mole! Was getting a bit worried there!

Got jeans from JoJo Bebe Maman - so comfy and £29 minus the discount and they give you a loyalty card to stamp with all your purchases to get vouchers I think at end. Also H&M have some lovely stuff - not too pricey.

Hope everyone's well and enjoys the weekend
xx

mutha2beagain · 08/09/2007 08:48

Yes have also been on the hunt for maternity clothes - although now that news is more public I've been very kindly given quite a few things by friends which is lovely. Was browsing in Zara yesterday and even they have a maternity collection now. Was impressed with jeans and trousers which were a very good fit so I think I will go back and invest in a pair or two when I'm ready to burst out of my normal ones... which should be any time soon.

Can't believe I'm still throwing up - came down to a rather untidy kitchen first thing yesterday morning and clearing the dirty plates was obviously too much for my guts... when will it end?

Not getting my next scan until 24 weeks - 12th Oct - so may book a private one before then and assuming everything is OK - will take DS to the later one. He's getting so excited and has already been leafing through toy catalogues picking out purchases.... this boy is going to be one hell of a support!!!!

jooseyfruit · 08/09/2007 14:11

leesmum- having my scan same day as you, are you going to find out sex? not sure whether to or not.

maycat · 08/09/2007 15:51

Hi all
Lucyand2, hope you are better, I've been lucky so far, but I can imagine it's pretty awful to be pregnant and ill, and have your family ill as well..

Yep, definitely maternity clothes for me as well from now on, although I don't think I look pregnant yet, I just look fatter! Topshop was a good place to start, and I also got a couple of things for my birthday
Going for my scan this coming Monday, I thought it was a bit late but looking at your dates it seems to be normal/early ( beginning of 20th week)- DP getting really excited, I think he will cry again

I have been getting my energy back, so organised a bbq today and I'm definitely going back to the gym tomorrow-
Have a lovely weekend everyone

gingermumi · 08/09/2007 16:00

Have ordered belly-ups today, thanks for link.

Have scan monday, hope to find out pink or blue. Have agood weekend everyone.

lailasmum · 08/09/2007 18:23

Hello Everyone. I am 17 weeks now and thought I would be into the nice and generally feeling better stage like I was last time, but i feel so tired and dizzy all the time its really annoying. Not sure if its the rather active 3 year old I am running around after (and answering endless questions from) or if its just one of those things.
Am still in normal trousers though, just about, think I will have to get into maternity wear in about 2 or 3 weeks, every thing is so huge and swamping though but did manage to get some nice carpenter jeans from Fun Mum that fit really well. Gone up 2 bra sizes too already.

lljkk · 08/09/2007 18:41

A nice thing happened yesterday:
I usually go to a parent+tot/preschooler group on Friday mornings. Got chatting with another regular mum there... didn't even know she's pregnant, but turns out she's due the same day as me! We both stood there exclaiming "But you're tiny and I'm enormous!"

We won't become best mates or anything, but it's nice to have a real life "pregnancy buddy".

leesmum · 09/09/2007 08:13

Good morning everyone.

Isn't it nice to buy bigger clothes and feel so comfy in them

I am starting to look pregnant now rather than just fat! i hate that in-between stage.

I have bought a few mat things but my sis was preg last year so i've got loads off her, and i've splashed out on a few tankinis from mothercare for our hols in oct.

We are going over to see dp mum and dad, they have lived in spain for 3 years and love it, and we get free babysitters for 10 days roll on oct 2nd.

Gingermumi and Mayday best wishes for your scans tomorrow, i am excited for you

Jooseyfruit we are finding out on wed, and we are taking ds with us ,i just hope he doesn't start asking for cbbeeies to be on instead of watching baby

Have a lovely weekend, we are going to pictures this afternoon (without ds) to see the new Bourne film.

Here's a tip for any ladies expecting their first child....Make the most of your spare time now, get out with Dp/Dh go for meals/pictures anything, because you will be desperate for some time to yourselves after lo arrives.xx

jooseyfruit · 09/09/2007 11:14

morning,
leesmum, think i will find out on wednesday, sick of looking at neutral beige unisex clothes! all the best for wednesday

Jo9977 · 10/09/2007 10:31

Hi everyone!

All the best to everyone for scans this week - we're now into the second scan rush - yay!

gingermumi · 10/09/2007 18:41

Well, all ok and (they wont be definite)in the sonographers opinion it looks like a boy! Everything fine. Managed to get get dh along (on crutches and with his 'special' seat to sit on)and took dd2. was lovely to see all going well. Bought a little blue hat and some booties - dd2 would have bought up tescos!

Hope all good for mayday too.

rozzyraspberry · 10/09/2007 19:46

Congratulations gingermumi - that's great news! It must be hard not to go mad when you know whether its blue or pink!!

We have our scan on Friday so I'm excited and nervous. Still haven't decided whether to ask whether it's a boy or girl. Never found out with previous 2 but am more tempted this time. Would want to keep it to ourselves though and am not sure how easy that would be!

Good luck for everyone else with scans coming up.

alkar · 10/09/2007 20:13

Had another scan again today and all OK. Saw a different sonographer who also thought its a boy. Glad everything is OK and getting my head aroung the idea of a boy, haven't had any boys in the family for a long time, I won't know what to do! Bought a few things and we are going to decorate the nursery this week which is blue anyway so not much to do.

Glad the scan went well today gingermummi and good luck to everyone else this week.

gingermumi · 10/09/2007 20:40

Thanks. Didn't know gender of dds1 and 2 but back then you could only find out with amnio. It's quite nice to know but is an extra really. Good luck to all others with scans this week too. All sounds good alkar. Like you not many boys in our family - out of 6 grandchildren (both sides) only one boy and he's now 15!

leesmum · 11/09/2007 08:12

Gingermumi and Alkar i'm really pleased your scans went well, and two lovely boys to look forward to. Congratulations

sarahmikeandharry · 11/09/2007 08:21

Hi everyone i am a newbie to your forum but felt like adding a post.

I am due with No2 on 03-02-2008. My DH and i have a DS aged 2y9m called harry, and are really exited about the new arrival.

I have my scan booked for monday 24th sept i will be 21+1weeks pregnant then.

Will post further details then.

Thanks for reading mr rambling,

Sarah

Jo9977 · 11/09/2007 11:20

Welcome sarahmikeandharry

Slacker · 11/09/2007 11:29

Welcome Sarah, you're due the same day as me.

Congratulations on your boys Gingermumi and Alkar! I'm going to find out whether it's blue or pink at my scan on Sat, unless the baby's crossing its legs. I didn't find out with DD and then wished I had, so this time will be different. DS1 is really keen to come to the scan, which is very sweet, but he's supposed to be in school on Saturday morning, so I'll have to see if he can miss one lesson - the scanning place is literally round the corner from school so it shouldn't be a problem. Will also have DS3, DD and DH there so it will be a bit crowded!

We'll be getting the champagne out if it's a girl, but I'm quite relaxed with the idea of another boy now, and we still like the name we were going to use if DD was a boy, so that's one less thing to worry about!

My bump has really popped out in the last few days so I'll get someone to take a picture soon, while it still looks nice and neat! Oh and I've discovered I have a RL due date buddy too, although I'm hoping that we won't be bumping into them at the hospital, as her DH suggested we would! Not sure that I'd go to the nearest hospital (St M's, Bristol) in anything other than the direst emergency! Apparently my IMs have a contract with the hospital in Bath where they can act as midwives rather than just advocate in a homebirth transfer situation, so I'd rather go there if at all possible.

Good luck with your scans Rozzy, Leesmum and Joosey - was there anyone else this week?

alkar · 11/09/2007 12:10

Slacker - I worked at the RUH for a while and Bristol - I would defo choose Bath, much nicer.

maycat · 11/09/2007 19:22

Hi again
been really busy but very happy as all well with scan on monday - they think boy but were not sure at all-
gingermumi and alkar, i'm glad all well with you too, and good luck to everyone else

still looking fat and not pregnant, but a lot more comfy in my maternity clothes

sarahmike and harry, you're due same date as me-

a question for non first timers: I was told in my doctor's appointment that first babys tend to be late, so they gave me an appointment to see the dr again a week after i'm due- is this normal? shouldn't i see a doctor a day or couple of days after due date? how long will they wait to do something?

alkar · 11/09/2007 19:37

Glad the scan went well maycat, shame they were unsure of the colour, did you really want to know?

I have been given an apt a day after my due date (they added a week on to my dates to give me their due date though?)

Slacker · 11/09/2007 20:00

Ooh thanks for the inside info there Alkar - Bath's a bit over half an hour away but then Bristol's 20 mins so probably wouldn't make a huge difference especially if I have this baby at night, as I tend to.

Maycat - glad the scan went well. Can't answer your question though as I'd have to be seriously overdue to even consider talking about induction!

maycat · 11/09/2007 20:01

I definitely wanted to know, but i'm not really disappointed (main thing is baby is there and kicking)- anyway I will have to go back at 34 weeks to check placenta is not low so i'm hoping they will tell me then

I will ask about drs appointment when I see midwife next month, but now that i think of it, it is on my due date according to my dates

all my antenatal classes and birth prep stuff seems to be quite late as well,: late december and mid january - when i tried to book at local nhs hospital they said they were really busy and 'had i considered private classes' before giving me any dates- i thought it was a bit shocking, tbh

Redbush · 11/09/2007 20:42

Hi Ladies, Just tried to catch up on all the news - glad to hear so many good scan results - sorry to hear about those of you not feeling too well. Had to give up and go into mat clothes at work this week - getting comments on how I'm bigger this time than last - sad lament for long lost toned tum!! All well here and had first night ever without DD on Sat - DH and I had a lovely time shopping and chatting and went to cinema!! Definitely agree - those of you 1st timers really make the most of your time you'll seriously wonder what you did with it all when lo arrives.

Hey Slacker I'm in Bristol too. Little worried by your comment re St M's - had DD there and couldn't fault it mind we came home same day.

Lightwind there is a condition which is becoming quite common in pregnancy used to be called Symphysis pubis dysfunction now referred to as pelvic girdle pain. There's a good leaflet produced by chartered soc of physiotherapists. It's normal to get twinges with growing baby but if you're really having problems ask for help asap.

Welcome to the newbies too!

Slacker · 12/09/2007 09:27

Redbush - I'm a bit hospital phobic and would only choose to give birth in one in an emergency, and I haven't heard great things about St M's for c/s aftercare for example, although I have no personal experience of the place. Also as I said my midwife would only be able to act as a birth supporter there, so it wouldn't be my first choice. I'm fairly confident I'll have another quick homebirth so hopefully it won't be an issue!

Who's got SPD? I missed that post. I had it mildly last time so this time I'm being careful to keep my legs together where possible, getting dressed and getting in and out of cars was the most painful bit I remember from last time. And walking more than a short distance. Damn, had forgotten about that, hope it doesn't happen again!
