Here you go........

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
beansprout · 30/08/2007 13:22

DB - good to see you back, sorry you have had such an awful time of it.

Leesmum - I was booked into a birth centre last time and they had a chart on the wall which outlined the phases of the moon as this really does make a difference! More women go into labour when there is a full moon and a friend's mum accurately predicted when all her kids were born based on how many full moons there had been during her pregnancy!

mummylittle · 30/08/2007 19:03

Hi everyone - just to let u know first meeting with mw went really well, she was really nice and didnt seem to mind all the questions I had for her!! Although little worried it how much the blood test hurt, how the hell am i going to give birth??

How did you get on pobletsmum? xx

CountTo10 · 30/08/2007 20:34

Mummylittle - I hate giving blood and always flinch and moan about how much it hurts but I managed labour not too badly - very different pain so I'm sure you'll be great!!

Well, I thought I was going to have a nice quiet afternoon today. Ds was at his friends for tea, dp was picking him up, I had some lovely chocolate and trashy mags to sit with my feet up at home chilling out...................................and then some idiot decided to smash right into the back of my car!!! So spent the afternoon on the phone to insurance companies, garages and down the doctors!!!! Luckily baby is ok - nice strong heartbeat. No tenderness in my stomach or bleeding but lots of aches and pains and very stiff shoulders. I just can't beleive how hard he went inthe back of me, I actually screamed!! I'm just so glad ds wasn't in the car with me. Honestly, just one thing after another!!!

leesmum · 30/08/2007 21:06

CountTo10 glad to hear you're ok after knobhead driving into you. Watch how you go over the next few days as it doesn't always hit you straight away.

Sorry if anyone offended by language but too many dangerous people on roads.

xxx

beansprout · 30/08/2007 21:10

Oh Countto10, that's just horrible, what an idiot! Hope you are taking it easy and putting your feet up.

Ds left his CM's today so it's been a bit emotional (long story). No childcare for 2 weeks and then he starts at nursery, the same week that dsd arrives. I know he will be ok, it's me that's the problem!

pobletsmum · 30/08/2007 21:39

CountTo10 - that's awful. Take it easy for a few days, you've had a big shock.

Mummylittle - I'm glad your 1st appt went well. Thanks for asking about mine. It went OK, apart from the midwife not knowing which blood tests she was supposed to be doing for me. I had to tell her, so I hope I told her the right thing. I'd already had early maternal screening serum tests at FMC at 12 wks (PAPP-A and free beta-HCG) so didn't need the Down's Syndrome parts of the triple test, but I did still have the AFP part, for spina bifida etc. I hope this is right. Does anyone know? She didn't have a clue . Sooooooo reassuring!

mummylittle · 31/08/2007 08:32

I hope you feeling better today CountToTen - that sounds awful!! Glad u werent seriously hurt!!
Pobletsmum - I would have thought the midwife could have seen what uve had done from your maternity notes!! Dont worry u sound like u know what ur talking about!! xx

pobletsmum · 31/08/2007 08:57

mummylittle - she had the notes in front of her and the printed results from FMC but still didn't seem to know what was going on!

CountTo10 - how are you today?

VictorVictoria · 31/08/2007 08:58

Morning all

18 weeks scan yesterday

Baby is bang on for dates, even slightly large (!) despite my tiny bump (and I'm only 5 4).

anterior placenta so that's why I can't feel much movement

Am much relieved

leesmum · 31/08/2007 09:38

victorvictoria glad everything went ok with scan was that your anomoly scan or have you got another in a couple of weeks? p.s. did you find out sex or is it a surprise?

countto10 how are you feeling this morning?

VictorVictoria · 31/08/2007 10:15

WE are having an other one at 22 weeks which will be the official anomoly scan but this one was pretty conclusive that everything was fine. Baby stubbornly in wrong position to tell the sex but she said she thinks its a girl!

SallyInYorkshire · 31/08/2007 14:27

Hi everyone, hope you are all well, I am fine and less nauseous (yay!!!!!) although still eating for about 3 never mind 2!!!

Lucyand2 what you said sounded similar to my experience... I just went for an appointment with midwife a couple of days ago and yes the regular midwife was away so I had a midwife from elsewhere. She was lovely but a bit harrassed and already running late.

Previously I'd seen a student midwife who was suposed to send me for a dating scan and didn't .. sigh ... it didnt bother me cos I knew when my last period was but it seemed to bother the Midwife from Elsewhere.

And at the end of the appointment she was just tidying everything up when I said "sorry but should I be having an anomaly scan at 20 weeks?" and she said "oh yes! sorry I forgot! will send you for one!"

She also forgot to send me for the triple test but I wasn't so bothered about that, as I am really not keen on amnio (am scared of the needle!!!!!)

mutha2beagain · 01/09/2007 13:34

Hi everyone,

Just catching up on the last few days as have been at the seaside.

Very interesting what people are saying about full moons in relation to birth patterns - I wonder if babies in utero undergo growth spurts around this time? I swear to God I went to bed on Monday night having seen the most brilliant full moon and the next morning woke up and my bump seemed to have grown overnight!!! Spooky.....

Sorry to hear about the collision countto10 - I would have also been furious that my feet up day had been ruined. Hope you are OK.

Dear Beatrice - glad to hear that your misery in hospital has passed - you deserve to enjoy your second trimester now to the max which I hope you can.

VV - glad that scan was a good one and previous worries were assuaged.

Got a meeting with obs who specialises in psychiatric issues ante/post pregnancy, given my savage PND last time so I'm delighted to be seeing her and very impressed with hospital that I am being offered this.

Otherwise feeling a lot more energised and having lovely wriggly movements from LO which is very exciting, although this morning had a coughing fit which ended up with me having a chat with the toilet bowl - this has happened several times now - not helped by DH and DS hooting with laughter - little buggers.

Have a good weekend everyone.

mummylittle · 01/09/2007 14:10

Oh my godness - put my jeans on this morning and they didnt bloody fit!!! Is this normal for 17 + 5?? xx

pobletsmum · 01/09/2007 19:30

Yes mummylittle! It happened to me at about 7 weeks!!!!!!!!

pobletsmum · 01/09/2007 19:31

mutha2bagain - it's good that you are getting the help you need from the special obs. If all the 'safety nets' are in place, hopefully things won't be so difficult for you next time.

MERLYPUSS · 01/09/2007 22:07

Can someone add me too please?
Twins due 19th Feb.
1st baby/s. Will be 42 by the time they arrive.

pobletsmum · 01/09/2007 22:47

WOW another set of twins! Congratulations! This thread is amazing. Is that 4 sets or 5? Sorry I can't remember... Welcome to the thread anyway!

lljkk · 02/09/2007 09:32

That's the FIFTH set of twins. Crikey, you lot could start your own support thread. (But don't leave us, we want to look on in wonder and awe).

Merlypuss -- what kind of twins are they? Completely separate or shared placenta/shared sac? I think it was 3 fraternals and 1 shared placenta before you joined.

MERLYPUSS · 02/09/2007 10:39

At the mo they are separate sacs and placentas. I have heard that they could join ? But prob unlikely as I am 16 weeks tomorrow. All very exciting but kacking myself at the same time. Have chosen not to find out what sex they are. Have epilepsy and on high meds so want to know all is ok on the 20 weke scan before I start planning too much. 15 week looked fine so here's hoping ..........

leesmum · 02/09/2007 12:08

MERLYPUSS welcome and congratulations on your twins

ExpectingKat · 03/09/2007 09:45
