Well the review is usually the bit after the scan πŸ€”
When was your last growth scan and how often have you been having them?

babycatcher411 · 06/02/2019 15:05

Protein can sometimes be from discharge, depends how much is in your urine. How’s your BP?

In our trust, we don’t β€˜recheck’ measurements, next step is always scan.

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 06/02/2019 15:28

Hi ladies sorry I've not been round for a while. So 2 weeks ago I mentioned that my fluids had dropped to 1.8cm which was pretty scary, at my next appointment they had gone up to 8.5cm and I was quietly confident that they would just rise from there. How ever since then I've had another 3 scans and they are slowly dropping again, the consultant has now said I won't get passed 36 weeks but if it drops even another half cm they will take her at 34 (that's only 2 weeks away!!!) I've had so much to process and get my head around and panicking just a little now lol how is everyone else doing?

WhatALearningCurve · 06/02/2019 15:46

@babycatcher411 they've remeasured me - got the same as the midwife by half a Cm and said they can't scan me today i have to wait for a letter and it will be next week sometime. BP was 135/94 ( i think. This guys writing is illegible) Just feel like they've had the same results as my midwife yet are putting it back a week. Not sure of the purpose of any of it

babycatcher411 · 06/02/2019 18:11

@Exhaustedmummy1811
How’re you feeling about little one being early? Have you got everything ready that you need at this point? Is the growth okay? Just waters that are low? I know it’s easy said than done, but try not to fret to much, most baby’s born >34/40 need minimal intervention after birth and support is usually focused on feeding. Have you been offered steroids?

@WhatALearningCurve yeah it does all seem a bit of a cockeyed way of doing it. We’re they concerned about your second urine sample? And did they just do the one BP? Do you have another midwife appointment between now and the scan or just waiting for the letter?

WhatALearningCurve · 06/02/2019 18:15

@babycatcher411 they're sending it off for testing so they'll ring me in the next few days if there's an issue apparently. Yeah - just the one BP. I've got the midwife next Thursday so might be before the scan - but won't know until the letter comes!

HidCat · 06/02/2019 18:20

@Exhaustedmummy1811 it's good that you're being monitored and they'll do whatever they deem is best for baby. Try not to worry!

I had a long morning at the consultant today. Actual appointment lasted about 15mins, I was there for 2 hours! My blood pressure is low though they didn't seem bothered 80/50 according to my notes. Last time it was recorded that low I ended up having a heart trace to make sure I was ok! But they have referred me back to the community midwife at least.

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 06/02/2019 18:32

@babycatcher I've not been offered steroids, I don't know if that is because they aren't admitting me yet or wether it's because my waters didn't drop till nearly 30 weeks and feel her lungs should be fine. Baby is growing really well at 31weeks she was weighing 4.16lbs so I'm hoping that will be an indication that even at 34 weeks she should do really well.
I'm more nervous about the fact she is breech and they have said with such low fluid it's unlikely she will turn so I'm facing another section which I was really hoping to avoid.
I'm a little worried about wether there is something wrong with baby as they seem to think my waters haven't ruptured which usually indicates something wrong with baby but all ultrasounds so far have looked good and placenta is working fine but obviously they can't check lung function and a scan can only see so much, so it's a bit of a waiting game.

Gronk27 · 06/02/2019 18:53

Meet my new midwife on Wednesday. She’s coming round to discuss my birth plan.

Worked an odd today and i’m pooped, I don’t know how those of you who are still working do it.

Saying that I have been feeling really good with all my yoga and meditation. Who knew I’d be such a pregnant hippyGrin

Gronk27 · 06/02/2019 18:53

*day

Hermagsjesty · 06/02/2019 19:26

@exhaustedmummy1811 I can understand your feeling worried - it sounds like you’re being well looked after and that they’re keeping a close eye on you.

I had midwife appointment today. He’s turned into a good position (from back to back). He’s 4/5 engaged too, so hopefully this is the final stretch!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 06/02/2019 20:38

Poor you @exhaustedmummy1811 - I really hope it all settles and there isn't any more drop in fluid. I guess it is a case of just ensuring you're prepped incase.

@whatalearningcurve I really hope it isn't as good as the consultant appointment I got to do the birth plan a day before my due date or the suggested appointment to discuss my b12 deficiency (in pregnancy) as 2 days before my due date! Do chase them if you don't hear something really soon.

Hope the midwife is nice @Gronk27

Gronk27 · 06/02/2019 20:58

@squirtlesmumgain thank you, I was starting to get worried as at my last but one app. my midwife informed me she was being moved, then at the last one the new MW was poorly and my appointments were all over the place but the new MW called and told me to save her number and booked me in on the proper dates so all good now.

Sorry if my post was roughshod over everyone's worries on my phone none if these messages had come through before I posted! Hope you get well looked after @exhaustedmummy1811 and @whatalearningcurve x

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 06/02/2019 21:30

I've got a bit of an awkward question... Has anyone felt the baby kick/punch you in your bum? I keep getting thuds just lower than my tailbone. It's been kicking me in the cervix a few times but it's the first time it's kicked me in the backside.Blush

CaseofEllen · 06/02/2019 21:48

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever yes all the time! It's like he's throwing himself down into my bum, he makes such a thud when he does it!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 06/02/2019 22:16

Baby is being quiet tonight and getting a lot of tightness across my bump. Not sure if she has just turned to face my back (rather than being side on as it were) or if I need to go and get checked out. She has always been a late evening mover, but she has to pick her times doesn't she!
I feel like I need an annual pass to the hospital at the moment as it feels like I am spending my whole life there!

Angelmiracle · 06/02/2019 22:24

Hope you feel ok @Exhaustedmummy1811 I'm sure it all feels so unpredictable for you right now. But it's great she's that weight already which is reassuring. And glad you're getting well cared for!

@WhataLearningCurve how frustrating for you they aren't communicating very well about what's going on. Be prepared with lots of questions next appointment you have to at least get a straight answer.

Good to hear you have a midwife now and have appointments in place @Gronk27 that's all you need to be worrying about!

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever @CaseofEllen that sounds so uncomfortable Shock Baby was compressing my bladder so much I put a pad on for Pilates Blush however she worked us very hard and it actually shifted baby off my bladder a bit lol.

Miami81 · 07/02/2019 08:19

Hi @SquirtlesMumAgain I hope baby picked up movements or you headed in to get checked.
@AssumeItWasSomethingClever my baby is currently transverse with feet down and all she does is kick my bum, cervix etc. It can be eye watering.
@Exhaustedmummy1811 I am sorry it's all so stressful. I 'think' that they try to give steroids 48 hrs before delivery for the best effect. So they may not have mentioned as that's not the plan yet. I have a niece who was born at 32+5 and a nephew at 35+2 and although both were v skinny as soon as they were out they both thrived. The doctors will be assessing all the time and as soon as risk outweighs status quo I am sure they will instigate the plan. They will always be judging what is best for baby.

Miami81 · 07/02/2019 08:21

@WhatALearningCurve that all sounds v strange. Worth ringing your midwife and chatting through with her? Just so that you have said it all out loud and explaining how stressed it is all making you? Hopefully she will be able to push it from her side.

WhatALearningCurve · 07/02/2019 08:26

@Miami81 I don't have a number for her unfortunately. But I feel a lot better about it all now I've slept on it. I don't like unanswered questions and I think the thing that was stressing me out the most was that no one just went "I'm sorry you thought this was going to happen, this was an error, our policy and procedure is this.........". I could have handled that quite easily, it was that no one seemed to appreciate that I had an idea of what was going to happen and then in fact that was completely wrong.

One of my friends is an A&E doctor at the same hospital and she's done rotations on obs & gynae before so when she finished her shift last night she text me explaining what happens a bit more so that's helped a lot

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 07/02/2019 08:28

@CaseofEllen & @Miami81. I'm so glad it's not just me. I mentioned it to DH and his first response was to tell me to get my hospital bag ready, quick! Grin It's just such a weird sensation!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 07/02/2019 09:31

Thanks for asking @Miami81 She picked up enough for me to be pretty convinced she is kicking me painfully in the back!!!!

It is hurting a lot along my back and bump today but it's definitely not a labour type pain. DH pointed out last night that she is probably bigger now than DS ever was so it is probably just that difference

Miami81 · 07/02/2019 09:52

Oh I am glad @WhatALearningCurve that you are feeling more settled with it.
@SquirtlesMumAgain yay for the massive hurty kicks. Hopefully she has a nice reassuring active day for you today. I find it very disconcerting when mine changes position as I then struggle to pick up movements for a wee bit whilst I get used to the new sensations.

Gronk27 · 07/02/2019 10:15

Here's a random question. I'm going to London with my Mum for two nights. It's fairly unlikely, I'm 35 weeks, but if I was to go into labour do I just rock up at a hospital, could I rock up at a midwife led unit? I'll take my notes with. Wasn't planning on taking any hospital bag stuff-we'd just have to manage? I just wondered what might happen. Obviously if you're giving birth you're giving birth and a hospital would have to help you!

CaseofEllen · 07/02/2019 10:36

@Miami81 that's interesting as my boy is head down but I still feel like he's almost kicking me in the bum. I think he must be head butting πŸ˜‚ @AssumeItWasSomethingClever I've had this for weeks! My DP is always ready to call the hospital, I have to tell him it's normal and there's no need! He's just doesn't want to miss anything πŸ₯°
@Gronk27 I was also due to go to London for a weekend with family when I'm just over 35 weeks but I've actually cancelled. I was really anxious about going into labour and DP missing the birth. I would just take hospital notes and maybe a small bag with a few essentials in for baby if you needed it! I guess if you went into labour you would ring your local hospital and explain to them, they could advise you from there? Hopefully this won't happen though 🀞🏼
