@wineandchoccy I haven’t looked at the Spinning Babies website yet. I’ll take a look. Thanks!

Miami81 · 23/01/2019 16:40

@cardboard33 if you are still concerned and feel unsupported I would give Tommy's midwives helpline a call. They are up to date on all current guidelines (in fact they write the guidance/research on most of this stuff). They will also go to bat for you with your local MAU if they feel an assessment is warranted.
Sometimes it is just the person you are dealing with on the day.
I know movements to be a very difficult one but the key thing is that if they don't feel right for you (either too few or too many) then if only to allow you to relax a bit they should probs be checked.

Happyfeet131989 · 23/01/2019 17:39

Is anyone else feeling an incredible about of pressure on their pelvis. I’m 34+5 and the pressure is almost making it hard to walk. I do have back pain but it’s more upper back than lower and some pain at the front but not constant. I did pass mucus on Monday and when I phoned the midwife she said this was normal.

As this is my first baby I’m not sure what’s normal or not.

HidCat · 23/01/2019 18:59

Didn't get the consultant appointment as I took a tumble on the ice on the way there! Landed on my stomach so had a morning of monitoring and going back first thing tomorrow for a follow up. Baby looking good but the crazy Braxton Hicks are back.

@Happyfeet131989 I'm noticing more pressure down below now and it definitely eases when little miss changes position.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 23/01/2019 19:47

Pressure is normal - do you know which way up baby is @Happyfeet131989?

Scan went well this morning - baby has flipped so head up, bum down now... Little madam. She is measuring a very normal 4lb 5oz at 32 weeks estimated... That's only 10oz off her brother's birth weight at 38 weeks. Will be interesting to see if she keeps going like that!

Angelmiracle · 23/01/2019 20:38

@HidCat oh no that's not nice!! I'd have been in a real panic glad all is ok. Did you hurt yourself?

That's great news about your scan @SquirtlesMumAgain hope she continues to grow!

Got my anti D injection yesterday. Wow that was sore going in! Luckily no dead arm or problem sleeping.

Baby's kicks are so strong really pushing through my sides - made me jump out of bed! Still 9 weeks to go Confused

Wineandchoccy · 23/01/2019 21:05

@HidCat oh no hope you are ok, it has been so slippy today

@Happyfeet131989 sounds normal to me but always contact your midwife if you are unsure. If I have walked lots I feel a lot of pressure.

@SquirtlesMumAgain great news your dd will seem huge compared to ds Grin

@Angelmiracle it’s not the most pleasant experience is it Sad not looking forward to the next injection once baby is here.

My day has been rubbish weather and traffic was horrendous 7 1/2 hours spent in the car Angry I’m sooooooooo tired and achy

Daisy2990 · 23/01/2019 21:13

Hi all

To recap I'm due on 21st March but have a c section agreed so will probably deliver sooner.

Had a borderline high BP reading 2 weeks ago so the MW booked another BP for today. Borderline high again and protein in urine.

MW then redid my BP on a manual machine and it came back much lower so she wrote that instead.

Urine sample gone off for analysis.

Should I be worried about pre eclampsia? The midwife seemed rather quick to write it off as a possibility.

I have no other symptoms but have been quite anaemic and recently had a chest infection.

BadBadBeans · 23/01/2019 21:38

@Angelmiracle @Gronk27 @SquirtlesMumAgain It depends on the manufacturer. Mine is Maxi Cosi; I looked up expiration on their website and they said 6-8 years. As mine is 11 years old I am well over the threshold of what is acceptable! Also, I accidentally shut the car door on it a couple of times (not with DS in it I hasten to add!) so it has been bumped about a bit. I think I'm just going to get another Maxi Cosi. I was considering getting one of those that go from newborn all the way through to booster seat, but the thought of how manky it would get in that time...

@cardboard33 do ring again if you don't feel sure. It is so hard when you don't have any point of reference! Mine is massively active in the evening but quiet during the day. I definitely have a pattern of movement now which is helpful - DS always seemed quite random in his movements and that made me fret.

@HidCat How horrid - glad you are okay.

BadBadBeans · 23/01/2019 21:40

@Daisy2990 I can't help with medical knowledge but I hope you get the answers you need and that all is okay.

My pack of disposable knickers has arrived from JoJo. Ahhh such joy to look forward to!

Happyfeet131989 · 23/01/2019 21:48

Baby is head down and has been for quite a while now @SquirtlesMumAgain Can’t wait for maternity leave to start now though. That may ease the pressure when I’m not running around all day

Dalesgirl16 · 23/01/2019 22:07

Hi all! Can I join you? My second baby is due on 3/4/19 but will be induced a week before. Baby measuring v big and I have to decide whether to try VBAC or elective caesarean. My midwife is strongly advising caesarean due to baby size including big head and previous complications in first pregnancy. Getting so tired and achy and only 30 weeks with a boisterous toddler! Anyone got advise for backache every day?

Wineandchoccy · 23/01/2019 22:23

@Daisy2990 hope you get the results back ASAP I would try and not worry if the midwife didn’t seem concerned - easier said than done I know!

Welcome @Dalesgirl16 it’s a different ball game 2nd time round isn’t it Sad I find using my birthing ball helps my back.

Dalesgirl16 · 23/01/2019 22:27

Thanks wineandchoccy* I just got mine out again. Definitely bit scared about dealing with toddler and newborn!

Wineandchoccy · 23/01/2019 22:37

@Dalesgirl16 How old is your toddler? My dd will be 4 in April so starts school in September but she is very full on at the minute

Dalesgirl16 · 23/01/2019 23:09

wineandchoccy she's 2! Little madam

Wineandchoccy · 24/01/2019 04:57

@Dalesgirl16 oh no wonder you are tired and have back ache then Sad Zero rest really doesn’t help in your 2nd pregnancy it makes me appreciate how much I could get 1st time round

SquirtlesMumAgain · 24/01/2019 06:18

@Happyfeet131989 head down is definitely the worst when it comes to pressure. It is unlikely to ease totally, sadly, but may come and go while they are still moving.

Welcome @dalesgirl16. I'm in exactly the same situation as @wineandchoccy (our first DCs were actually born on the same day), and it is very much more full on this time. At least at nearly 4 DS can understand to a point that mummy is struggling and needs to sit down (or he needs to move while I run to be sick!) so I don't Envy you with a smaller one!

Hope you get answers back soon @daisy2990. The midwife hasn't ruled it out entirely if she is sending off the sample for checking, may just be trying to not worry you. Probably worth making sure your bag is packed though!

Hermagsjesty · 24/01/2019 10:54

@daisy2990 it’s knackering being pregnant with a toddler/ preschooler so you have my sympathies! My eldest was 2.4 when DS was born and if it’s any consolation I actually found it much easier to cope with a newborn and a toddler than I did when heavily pregnant.

They’re 7 and almost 5 now so am hoping the gaps will be manageable- although I think DS might struggle with jealousy as he’s so used to being my baby!

Hermagsjesty · 24/01/2019 10:56

Oh, I think that @ should’ve been @dalesgirl16 - so much to keep up with on this thread! @daisy2990 hope the results are reassuring when they come back.

babycatcher411 · 24/01/2019 11:14

@Daisy2990
It’s very normal to trust manual equipment over electronic for something like a BP. When are you booked in for another BP check? Did she just do the electronic and manual BP? Or did she do a series 3/4?

Did she say how much protein and what test it’s being sent off for?

Do you have any problems with headaches, visual disturbances, epigastric pain (pain under the ribs particularly on the right side) or oedema?

As with everything though, if you’re still concerned, then I would ask to be seen again.

toastfiend · 24/01/2019 13:04

@Miami81 solidarity with you in the 'cooking a giant baby' stakes! I think you might be right re: baby potentially coming early fully-cooked, but we shall see!

I've lost what I can only think must be all of my plug since last night. I have phoned the DAU, they reassured me that wasn't a problem though and is apparently relatively normal, so I've just got to keep an eye out for any bleeding or anything. I'm feeling a bit weird today, had a few dizzy/spacey spells and a bit nauseous, but baby is moving ok I think it's sheer exhaustion and tension from the last few days. Some very good news, though, is that my dog has made huge improvements and is nearly able to walk on her own today. She will hopefully be home tonight, I can't wait!

Daisy2990 · 24/01/2019 13:07

Thanks for the replies.
I am always a bit dubious when someone gets a risky measurement and then changes the machine to solve the problem. That's not to say I dont trust the midwife, I'm just trying to be extra careful.

To answer questions in the post above @babycatcher411
Next BP check in 3 weeks
I dont know what a series 3/4 is. She used electric machine and then manual equipment with stethoscope.
I have no info on protein or test in my notes. She said ring GP in 7 days for a result.
I have constant oedema on one side so cant really judge this. No other symptoms of note.

Seeing the consultant tomorrow about "mode of delivery". I'm already approved for a section and now panicking they will change their minds. Also desperately trying to get to exchange/ completion on our house purchase. So none of this is helping the blood pressure issue, i expect.

BadBadBeans · 24/01/2019 13:32

I'm pretty sure I've got PGP. I think I've had it (mildly) for about three months without really acknowledging it. I have finally twigged that if I sit down to put on socks / trousers rather than standing on one leg, it is a LOT less painful!

@toastfiend great news about your dog. Cripes re: your mucus plug!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 24/01/2019 13:41

I had my 31 weeks midwife appointment today. Baby has turned so is head down and no longer breach. Fingers crossed it stays that way! She also said that it's very high up with its feet under my ribs which is why I've all of a sudden become out of breath and why bending etc is more effort! I ache all over today and could do with a 12 hour kip!
