Thank you so much for your advice, I will make a list of things to ask on Thursday. They did do a speculum and take swabs but they said I have to wait for the results and see what happens Thursday. The only things I've noticed are that I was (still am feeling) very damp down there, he said they may have been trickling for a while and that bump has pretty much gone now.
In regards to antibiotics they said they will see what the swabs say and decide from there. Will the antibiotics be oral? Can these be done from home?
My second was a section as he was breech but it was picked up so late we couldn't turn him. The other 3 have all been natural labour's.

babycatcher411 · 21/01/2019 16:01

Yes, the antibiotic now would be oral, those in labour would be IV.

They will factor in the fact you have had a caesarean before into an decision making about another caesarean, as generally when undertaking breech vaginal deliveries the aim is for it to be as β€˜low risk’ as possible. That said, the fact you’ve had successful vaginal deliveries since is very positive.
Remember, they cannot make you do ANYTHING you do not feel comfortable with.

Do you have support around that could have you’re children for you over a weekend more easily than during the week?
If the decision was made for a caesarean, it may be worth considering which day this is done on. To some degree you could request this when they book you in. Obviously birth isn’t always predictable and the situation may change, but could childcare be more easily arranged to cover fri morning-sun evening?

babycatcher411 · 21/01/2019 16:05

Did the speculum itself indicate if fluid was draining? If the swabs are taking a few days to come back then they most likely are just to identify infection.
In all likelihood, if you’re feeling damp a lot, given the scan, then it probably is premature rupture as opposed to just low fluid.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 21/01/2019 16:20

Sorry for the shock and news @exhaustedmummy1811
@babycatcher411 is giving brilliant advice and definitely get that list ready for Thursday.
I really hope they have some answers for you then.

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 21/01/2019 16:29

My brother lives with me and works 4 on 4 off an my mum is in the same village so if push comes to shove we can sort something between us all. He said he couldn't see anything from the speculum but he did say that could just be because now there is so little fluid obviously it won't be leaking as much or baby could be covering the tear. When standing up from a chair or sofa I am feeling a small trickle now and again so I think it must be that.
Thank you for everyone's support and advice

HidCat · 21/01/2019 16:38

@Exhaustedmummy1811 fingers crossed for good news on Thursday. Definitely best to start planning what the options for your other children are should you need to be admitted.

SDP84 · 21/01/2019 19:17

Checking in I've missed so many threads now. Struggling to keep up

WhatALearningCurve · 21/01/2019 19:46

Today's my birthday and one of my presents from DP is a TENS machine. Hoping it ends up worth it's weight in gold during labour ha

Angelmiracle · 21/01/2019 21:06

That's a lot for you to take in @Exhaustedmummy1811 so glad we have @babycatcher411 here to give some professional advice on the situation. It sounds like your consultant is taking all steps to check how to go forward.

It sounds like you have a good support network around you don't worry about putting anyone out. All being well you don't have to be hospitalised and can proceed the pregnancy with close monitoring.

My cousin said her 5th pregnancy was the most stressful of them all!

@WhataLearningCurve Happy Birthday to you πŸŽπŸŽˆπŸŽ‚ That was a thoughtful gift. My DH would think a Tens machine is something that counts money 🀣

@SDP84 don't worry about what you've missed feel free to pick up anywhere and join in. How's your pregnancy going?

Thank you @Angelmiracle Don't give him too much praise though - I've mentioned it to him 1000 times because I want to try and get through it with as fewer drugs as possible!

ballanj · 21/01/2019 22:48

@Exhaustedmummy1811 thinking of you and hope it goes okay Thursday xx

toastfiend · 22/01/2019 02:43

Scan went OK today. Baby is incredibly low in my pelvis so that couldn't get a head measurement, but abdominal circumference is over the 95th centile, femur length etc. all on the higher range too and baby is measuring on the 90th centile generally with an estimated weight currently at 34 + 2 of 6lb1. 😳 I know it's not an exact science, but I've not got the fear that I'm going to be giving birth to an enormous child! Dad decided to inform me today that babies on his side of the family have all generally been big, so this one appears to be following the trend. Not sure how or why, really, as DH and I are both average height and build. I'm a bit overweight but not by that much and have had a GTT and all came back fine. Anyway, RIP intact nether regions, you were nice while you lasted.

Day from hell today, scan aside, as my dog collapsed on a walk with the dog walker this morning, was unable to get up and had to be rushed to the vet. We've just got back from taking her to a neurologist tonight as she was discharged from the vet earlier with the plan to go back tomorrow morning, but deteriorated again. I'm beside myself with worry, she's my baby and, if anyone remembers from an earlier thread, was a bit of a hero a while back when I was much earlier in my pregnancy and we had a freezer leak in the house and she woke me up and alerted me that something was wrong, meaning I could get out the house and get it sorted rather than inhaling horrible fumes all night when the baby was so tiny. The neurologist is tentatively hopeful it's something that we can fix with lots of rehab, but the alternative is too awful to think about right now. It's a huge expense directly before mat leave but she's definitely worth it. Just keeping my fingers crossed for her now. Not a nice day at all.

@Exhaustedmummy1811 will be thinking of you on Thursday, I hope all goes OK.

Gronk27 · 22/01/2019 07:00

@toastfiend so sorry to hear about your dog! If it’s any consolation about the babies size, at our antenatal class the teacher showed us two figures of a small baby and a big baby the difference in head and body size was so minimal and she said that giving birth to β€˜bigger’ babies was β€˜easier’ or at least more gentle because they come out slower. What is more important is the angle of the head.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 22/01/2019 09:05

I've just got an email from The Positive Birth Company. They've got a special offer on their digital hypnobirthing pack for Β£20 today only. I've already got mine and it's quite good! Hopefully i'll be able to give it a better review after the birth.
The code you need is HEY20K. Not sure if anyone's interested but it'll save you some money if you are!!

BadBadBeans · 22/01/2019 09:44

@Exhaustedmummy1811 I'm so sorry to hear that you're having a stressful time. I hope that you get a clearer idea of what is going on on Thursday so that you can start putting plans in place.

@WhatALearningCurve belated happy birthday!

@toastfiend crikey, that is quite big! Still, maybe you're just one of those people whose babies cook early and it'll come out at a lovely weight at 38 weeks! That happened to a friend of mine with both of hers. I'm really sorry to hear about your lovely dog. I hope the rehab is able to sort her out.

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever thank you for that - I am tempted as I can't find my CD from last time!

Just a reminder to everyone that now is a good time to start doing perineal massage to try to avoid tearing during the birth. It's not the most glamorous thing to do, and it's pretty awkward too when you've got to reach around your gargantuan bump, but it's supposed to be quite helpful.

I've just made a list of all the baby things I've got to clean in the next few weeks. Car seat, clothes, muslins, sheets, blah blah blah... Then I got the car seat out and put the newborn insert back in, and it doesn't look right! I'm going to have to look it up on YouTube because I have entirely forgotten how the car seat works!

Took DS to the doctor yesterday. The doctor asked as we left whether we knew if the baby was a boy or a girl. DS said, 'I think it's a boy. Daddy thinks it's a girl. Mummy doesn't know.' He was spot-on - made me smile!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 22/01/2019 10:17

@toastfiend sorry to hear about your dog.
Regarding big babies, my friend had a baby who was 11lb 2oz naturally... From the sound of it she had an easier time than I did with my 4lb 15oz tiddler... Gravity helped along the way!

@badbadbeans how lovely your DS saying that. Mine is currently definitely having issues about baby..... He is being an utter pain about it all of a sudden - not wanting to be away from me mainly or wanting me to do things I physically cannot do at the moment!

Just off to see the consultant - I hope it isn't the same as last time as she was useless and rude!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 22/01/2019 11:30

Wahoo - was the consultant whose name is on the clinic today. She was lovely and actually listened to the fact I have been struggling and make a note.
She wants to see me in 5 weeks (so when I'm roughly 37 weeks pregnant) to make a birth plan so we have all the info available to us. So relieved she was so lovely and wants to talk and plan not just "you'll be fine, get on with it"!

wordsmithereens · 22/01/2019 12:04

@SquirtlesMumAgain So glad you had a positive experience!

Angelmiracle · 22/01/2019 12:34

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever thank you so much for the discount code. I have just purchased the digital pack. My anxiety of this impending birth is really starting to get to me so I need to take action. Thanks again!

@toastfiend sorry to hear about your dog. Given you have lost a bit of mucus plug and baby is so low down, maybe you don't have too long to go? If baby puts on around 0.5lbs a week and you get to 38 wks (imagine) then that would be a totally average sized baby?
Also those growth scans can be up to 1lb out.
They aren't an exact science at all.
I feel your pain though. My DH was well over 10lbs. And we both have big heads.........

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 22/01/2019 15:44

@angelmiracle. You're welcome! Glad you saved some money Smile

Happyfeet131989 · 22/01/2019 16:44

Hey

I have only just joined mums net as I didn't even know what it was. I am completely clueless and this is my first baby. Due date is 1st March but I've already starting to lose parts of my mucus plug and baby is head down and ready to go. It is all feeling very scary and real now!!!

Wineandchoccy · 22/01/2019 16:48

@toastfiend sorry to hear about your dog I hope he is ok they really are part of the family.

@SquirtlesMumAgain great news it’s good that you were listened to.

@Happyfeet131989 welcome to the group Smile

I have been sat to long today on my laptop my bum, back, legs, everything ache 😟

cardboard33 · 22/01/2019 17:37

Does anyone know if there's a thing as too much movement? I've noticed that baby's movements have gone up a notch since Christmas and the last day or so it's been attacking me constantly. I was up since 3am last night due to it and I've been at work with it moving/tummy cramping/uncomfortable all day. I know that this is probably normal at this stage (I'm 31.5 weeks) and nothing to worry about but surely it has to sleep sometimes??? My mum doesn't help by telling me that we didn't really move much so she doesn't know what I'm talking about! I had a 28 week scan in early Jan and all was fine then and I've got an appointment next Thurs anyway so it's not like I'm not being seen regularly either.
