My husbands also self employed! Not quite sure how much time he will have off yet going to play it by ear but with three others to get to school I am a bit nervous how I will manage! MIL is nearby so I am sure she will help out too!

AvoidingMarking · 17/01/2019 14:40

With our first my partner finished one job and was starting another but because of hr and security checks he didn't start for 6 weeks. It was a long time to have him at home! Shock

3 weeks before and 3 weeks after but he was being really careful with money (understandably) so all the plans we had of things we would do before the baby came and it was just two of us didn't happen.

chocpop · 17/01/2019 15:36

Just updating anyone who might have seen my last post a few days ago! It turned out not to be active labour. The pains/cramping went on until about 11pm that night, then totally stopped. The next day baby wasn't as active as she usually is, so we rang the hospital and they suggested I come in and get checked over.

Baby is fine and v happy which was a relief. Apparently she's pretty much ready to come out but it's just a matter of waiting. I've been having cramping on/off since but maybe only for an hour or so at a time now, then hours of nothing, so I think it's just my body getting ready for labour.

I'll be 38 weeks on Saturday so either way I know there isn't long at all to wait now. Can't wait. I was previously quite worried/panicky about the idea of giving birth/being examined/being given drugs for various reasons but it isn't really scaring me as much anymore. I just want to meet her :)

Hope everyone's keeping well! x

@Since2016 Thank you, I think perhaps I'll need to take the pram in to the shop and give it a test run... I haven't got the option to purchase a different pram, our Silvercross Wayfarer is in immaculate condition and the carry cot part has never been used as we bought it when DS was 6 months old so we are re-using this for the new baby (we'd be mad not to really!) So if a buggyboard does not work with the carry cot then DS will have to suck it up and walk or we're thinking of getting him a balance bike/trike or scooter instead! I'll have to save my long power walks for the days DS is at nursery :-)

Since2016 · 17/01/2019 15:51

I don’t think the wayfarer and the pioneer are that different are they? Defintely go in somewhere that sells both or take your pram and see how it fits.

DD has a scooter but she’s nowhere near confident enough to use it unsupported!

Since2016 · 17/01/2019 16:57

36 weeks tomorrow and feel like I’ve been hit by a truck.

So many jobs to do - life admin and baby prep and a very energetic DD. Praying for an early night!

welshweasel · 17/01/2019 17:25

37+3 today and finally finished work. Not a moment too soon - now I’ve got 4 days to panic/relax until baby comes, eek!

We’ve bought a buggy board for the Cameleon, haven’t tried DS on it yet though.

twiglet · 17/01/2019 17:45

@chocpop glad everything is fine and your now on a waiting game!

I have one more week of work, I think my boss had underestimated my usual workload until he came to a meeting today.... He asked me after if the list he had jotted down was normal for me... My response was yep that's about a tenth of it Wink
I think they are regretting not sorting out proper cover sooner as its my boss and line manager picking up my work until April at least!

Notquiteagandt · 17/01/2019 17:54

Those of you and @mummymummymummummum who are looking at buggy boards. Have you looked at the one with the scooter on. Its universal and from what I have heard seems to stick out a little further so doesnt take up as much room. Plus looks super fun!!

Surprisedmom · 17/01/2019 18:41

@chocpop glad to hear everything is ok.

I had my 36 week midwife appointment today and baby is 3/5 engaged. I’m glad as it means he shouldn’t change position now and is head down and ready for birth. I was also glad for the explanation of why my pelvis was aching so much as my bump hasn’t dropped (as commented on by my mom) so I was a bit despondent as I thought that meant he couldn’t be engaged yet, but he is Smile

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 17/01/2019 18:59

Mine engages in and out on a daily basis still 😂

He flipped completely around the other evening. I’m 36 weeks today, so hopefully he’ll settle into a more permanent position soon 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yakadee · 17/01/2019 19:38

I'm sure something is clicking inside me when baby moves??? It's not very loud but what the hell? X

AliceRR · 17/01/2019 20:27

@Yakadee I have heard / read about this! x

Yakadee · 17/01/2019 20:39

@AliceRR - I've heard it a few times now? How strange! What on earth is it? X

AliceRR · 17/01/2019 20:57

@Yakadee I read it was just the sound of baby moving, baby bones / ligaments. If you google, other people have posted about it. I don’t think it’s v common but it happens and seems like it’s nothing to worry about although you could mention to MW if worried xx

Yakadee · 17/01/2019 21:00

@AliceRR - how random!! Baby's movements are totally normal (and painful as usual!) so I doubt it's anything to worry about. I have a health visitor appointment tomorrow so might just mention it to her. Thanks for checking x

AliceRR · 17/01/2019 21:09

@Yakadee Agree doesn’t sound like anything to me. So weird and wonderful what our bodies / our babies do! x

Yakadee · 17/01/2019 21:16

Definitely weird! Haha x

Surprisedmom · 17/01/2019 22:43

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking is this your first baby? I thought first babies were much less likely to disengage than second+ babies, but I guess it’s still not impossible.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 17/01/2019 23:13

@surprisedmom it’s my third, so it’s normal for them to float around a bit more, it’s likely he may not be fully engaged until in established labour..

hayley013 · 18/01/2019 00:09

My emotions have ramped right up today, sick of being pregnant and uncomfortable, but scared of what it's gonna be like with 2 children, how dd is gonna take it, whether she'll still be a happy little girl, how we'll adapt to life with 2, probably well overthinking but it's kicking off some unusual anxiety x

sickmumma · 18/01/2019 01:39

I feel dreadful tonight, feel really sick and have been sick, given myself a nosebleed and generally just achy and feeling crappy! Could barely walk upstairs to go to bed. I'm not sure if it's because I've been at work or what but I am feeling very sorry for myself and am having a bath at nearly 2 in the morning 😳🙈

Alicejj8x · 18/01/2019 07:18

Ladies I wondered if you could help me please..

I am 35+1 and this morning I’ve had quite loose bowel movements.. no where near diarrhoea in the sense where it’s like water coming out but they have been loose this morning 😕

Do you think this is something to worry about or?..

MrsY87 · 18/01/2019 07:47

@Alicejj8x if you have no other symptoms of labour I wouldn't worry about a loose bowel movement. Mine seem to vary constantly at the moment! Obviously if you start having contractions or strong period pains maybe give the mw a call but otherwise I don't think you need to worry.

powkin · 18/01/2019 08:02

Sympathies to everyone. Had a crap night’s sleep, Every position is uncomfortable and moving even more so.

@Alicejj8x my bowels are much more loose than they are the opposite, but that’s always my norm, and probably one of the reasons I need IV iron today. I called the MW when I got really intense period pain too, it was like that cyclical thing of the cramps make you want to go.

Woke up at 2am with sore stomach and then needing to pee at 6am and then bloody cat crying at the door. I really lost my patience with him and found myself clenching my jaw. He’s stopped eating the food he’s always had so now we’ve had to start mixing the old with some crap stuff but even then he makes a huge fuss and has a tantrum. He’s just a bloody cat and makes me angry! Partly because we just bulk replaced his food and have wasted so much money. I know it’s hormones and tiredness and my own baby will hopefully be very different I just worry about how I’ll manage sometimes. I really don’t like that part of myself at all it’s very foreign to me.

Oh and if I hear one more bloody thing about brexit...
