Yes to those who are sleeping badly! I'm up every 2-3 hours to go for a wee, and really awake from 4am-ish. I've been going to bed very early to compensate.

Michelle0507 · 05/01/2019 14:27

Also part of the 4am rang! Zzz zzz!

FuzzyPixel · 05/01/2019 14:46

Hello all, sorry I've been quiet!

12 weeks today, which marks six weeks of being constantly nauseous. My BMI was 24 at booking in, but I've lost weight since then due to the sickness. Hoping that the sickness side ends soon so I cnn gain some weight and start eating more nutritious foods.

I am excited and anxious because it's our dating scan on Thursday, finally! DH is hoping to make an announcement soon after, but I'm not the announcing type, so I'm just leaving the ball in his court with the rule that I don't want scan photos to be shared.

I'm also often awake at 3:30/4am. It's driving me crazy. I'm sleeping much better since the pregnancy pillow arrived though.

Jxtina86 · 05/01/2019 15:59

4am club here too! Sometimes need to get up for a wee too but it's not every night anymore which I'm grateful for - doubt that will last!

How long did it take for everyone to get their Downs screening results? I completely forgot to ask at the scan! They said we'd get a call if it was high risk otherwise we'll get a letter, but now in a limbo as no idea how long they will take!

RooKangaroo · 05/01/2019 16:13

@Jxtina86, I was told I'd get a letter within two weeks. And a phone call within a couple of days if there was a problem.

Meg1389 · 05/01/2019 16:46

Just dropping in. I had my 12w scan yesterday at 13w +1. Everything looked ok they said and I was only one day off my due date. Due 11th July. Been feeling ok prior to that but don’t know if yesterday was too much excitement and stress and felt rotten and sick today. Thought the sickness was dying off too! Oh well. It’s been lovely being able to tell people just got a few more people to get through now! I hope everyone is well xx

ReginaPhalange89 · 05/01/2019 19:21

God. My OH is having a few beers tonight, he's got Desperados which he doesn't usually buy. The smell is making me feel so nauseous! It smells like weed 😷

Michelle0507 · 05/01/2019 19:32

Yep, I always say drinks like that smell of wee'd and everyone laughs at me!

Kentishgal · 05/01/2019 20:28

Fortheloveofdoughnuts my risk for downs was about the same when I had my daughter and I was 32. I'm nearly 36 so expecting it'll be higher, not sure whether to get harmony test.

Told some nursery mums today - they had all noticed the bump despite massive jumpers - they all asked if I was sure I wasn't having twins. 😱

ememem84 · 05/01/2019 20:37

Ooh I fell off the old thread. Two weeks until my 12 week scan. I’m still positive I’m further along than 10 weeks though. But we shall see.

I’ve got the sinusey thing too. Although it may also be a cold. Dh has had one ds has one dsis has one... but it’s horrible. I’ve got the sexy sexy nose strips for bedtime in the house and am trying to flush it out with gallons of water and orange juice. Usually I’d retire to bed with a hot toddy and wash down some paracetamol and ibruprofen but probably should avoid that at present!! In bed now with nose strip hot water bottle on feet and a hot squash. Sexy.

Sickness seems to be on its way out (with ds this vanished at 14 weeks) so I’m trying to eat better now and exercise a bit. Riding today and gym tomorrow. Re joined the gym for 6 months and have a session with a trainer who specialises in pre and post natal exercise to get me started.

DianaBlythe · 05/01/2019 21:19

I completely didn’t even think to ask about how I’d get my screening results. Just presumed they’d call if there was a problem and if not maybe at my 16 week midwife appointment, which is actually next week as I’d already done a lot of messing around with the rota on my actual 16 week date and it happens I’m working in my home town next week.

I’m 31, BMI 21. Downs 1 in 90535 and Edwards and Pataus 1 in 100000 so that was a nice letter to come home to after Christmas. Here they count 1 in 150 as high risk and offer the NIPT (Harmony type test) at that level.

Sleep has also changed. Generally wake up around 2-3 and then go back to sleep. Not always up to pee. Unfortunately DH snores. Didn’t used to be such a problem as I’d sleep through but now am finding I’m moving myself to the spare room at 2-3am which makes him sad. Also it’s cold there to start with which wakes me up more!

I’m struggling a bit with getting comfortable. Have always been a front sleeper. I can lie on my front still but have a sense that I shouldn’t be and it perhaps isn’t quite as comfortable. Not sure if it’s excessive to get one of those giant pregnancy pillows when I’m only 14+5!

TwinkleDay · 05/01/2019 21:36

I'm normally wake at 4 for a week and rich tea biscuit before getting settled again.

In other news we have just bought the flip xt2 in a lovely chestnut colour with everything to go with it matching, cot bed and changing table and waredrobe with very plush mattress and changing mat and got and overall saving of £1240.60!! There are some great offers on at mamas and papas and these key pieces will be an investment of family to come 👶🏻🥰 x

TwinkleDay · 05/01/2019 22:11

Wake at 4 for a wee lol not week ... that is what is too come 😂😴

Onestep2 · 06/01/2019 04:37

Wide awake club here too......

ememem84 · 06/01/2019 08:10

We’re not planning on getting another pram for number 2. Ds is walking now so I’m thinking of looking for a buggy board or seat or something for him.

AnnaBegins · 06/01/2019 08:40

We barely used our buggy last time, used the sling almost exclusively. Wish I'd got a less bulky buggy but you never know how you'll use these things until baby is here.

TwinkleDay · 06/01/2019 09:09

@AnnaBegins I recon with it being the middle of summer the last thing we are going to want is extra body contact with all the heat and sweat in june July August.

Plus we don't live in a city and don't use public transport

ememem84 · 06/01/2019 09:14

I’d thought about a sling/carrier this time as never used one last time. But the summer....

ReginaPhalange89 · 06/01/2019 10:07

I was the opposite, I had a sling last time and only used it once or twice ! I might try it again this time though since I'll have a toddler to run around after too

BirthdayKake · 06/01/2019 10:36

No sling for me. I'm the least practical person ever so struggle to put them on. I'm also constantly hot so it would be torture in
July. Plus I smashed one of my kids' heads into a door frame when they were in a sling once Blush

Yukka · 06/01/2019 12:39

@birthdaykake that’s exactly the kinda thing I would do!

This is my first baby so I don’t have a clue. Would anyone recommend a good teach-me-everything baby book?

BirthdayKake · 06/01/2019 12:45

@Yukka glad I'm not the only one! Thought I was doing so well getting some housework done with the baby in the sling. Then smash... She bloody screamed! I don't trust myself anymore ha

AnnaBegins · 06/01/2019 13:44

@BirthdayKake which sling did you struggle to put on?

I have a very thin linen wrap from a company called calin bleu, and the lite version of the caboo which I don't find hot at all. Plus by September it'll be cooler and the babies will only be 3 months old, and it was that 3 months to 1 year stage where I carried DS a lot and most of that will be winter for these babies.

I live in a tiny village and don't use public transport either. I couldn't face dragging the pushchair on long country walks!

AnnaBegins · 06/01/2019 13:45

Sorry last bit was in reply to Twinkle

Jxtina86 · 06/01/2019 14:50

I was chatting to a friend the other day about slings and she said that didn't use it at the beginning but now it's a lifesaver with her 6 month old as she's finding the pram more hassle than it's worth sometimes - she drives everywhere but she said a sling is so handy when a pram is a bit impractical. Another friend said they used a sling right at the beginning because their baby was so tiny in his pram, they felt more comfortable carrying him. Didn't seem to make a difference whether they drove or used public transport- personal preference I guess!

We're about to embark on tackling the spare room in preparation for baby's arrival. Needs a good clear out and then wallpaper stripping will commence. Hoping to have it all done by end of April between myself, DH and my dad helping out with plastering. DH is planning to do the bulk of the work but I feel like a bit of a spare end as I'm used to getting my hands dirty and I'm a bit more practical than DH too but he's insisting. Room is quite small so having to be a bit inventive with the space after we get a cot and chest of drawers in (which is doubling as a change table with some alterations). Wardrobe isn't going to fit so thinking of a rail on the wall instead for anything that needs hanging (probably will end up being used to dry DH's shirts lol) anyone else starting to make plans?
