@allfurcoatnoknickers your trips sound amazing! I'm going in a ski trip at the end of Jan for the spa and yummy food!

@reastie I don't live too far from Slough 😂

@toomanyflatwhites I was supposed to be going to Antigua beginning of March but I've pulled out due to Zika. DP is still going as it's his good friends wedding. So I have booked to go to Fuerteventura with a friend (I'm not staying home while DP is having all the fun 😂) I did loads of research and Fuerteventura came out best for distance, temperature and gorgeous beaches! Cape Verde and Dubai 7hrs.. but too far for 5 days.

Fabuluce · 15/01/2019 13:40

Reastie I live in between both and must admit to seeing neither as a holiday destination - there are so many other lovely towns and villages around them/between them 😉

Curlywurly3 · 15/01/2019 14:02

Marlow is nice and can have a day at Cliveden! :)

allfurcoatnoknickers · 15/01/2019 14:24

@Curlywurly3 so glad I'm not the only one going on a ski trip to eat and laze around! Grin. I can't wait for Grand Cayman. DH and I hoarded all of our points and then blew the lot on a stay at the Ritz Carlton. I had to cancel THREE trips when I found out I was pregnant, and there were a lot of tears, so it's nice to have something to look forward to.

SilverSister · 15/01/2019 14:34

We're going to Tenerife in 4th Feb for a week in the sunshine.
Also hoping to have a trip away with the baby Sep/Oct (I feel like I can already hear those of you who already have kids laughing at my naivety!)

Reastie · 15/01/2019 15:05

Curly we’ll camp ourselves with you Grin . I remember having a very naice lunch out near marlow years ago and thinking it was nice and was thinking about round that area (it’s roughly slough....with my rough geography!). Probably a bit nicer than slough Wink

Fab when I say slough I mean that vague area, not necessarily making an effort to enjoy the sights of slough itself. We usually stay in self catering in villages rather than towns/cities. There looks like a few National trust places to visit (so free family days out) as well as going up to the Roald Dahl museum and legoland and Harry Potter (I’ve actually been researching it!) but not a lot of choice in self catering so I’m guessing not to popular holiday destination! It’s only a couple of hours away and lots of easy child friendly day trips to do so it looks like an easy holiday.

Allfurcoat Envy at ritz Carlton, it’ll be amazing, enjoy

Sass Milton Keynes has an ace indoor snow dome, we had a fab time doing a tobogganing session there with dd

How was the midwife appointment curlywurly?

CrazyCowLady · 15/01/2019 15:18

We have booked a trip to Canary Islands beginning of March. I did want to go to Sri Lanka, but DH wasn't keen and Zika... Boo!

@curlywurly - have a read on what your partner should do if he is going to a Zika area. I might be making this up (so sorry if I am!) but I think I read that if a partner goes to a country with Zika, they can carry it and pass it to their partner through unprotected sex. I think they can get screened for it when they get back though? Might be worth doing some research on before he goes and comes back? But I might have made the whole thing up too...! ConfusedBlush

Bigonesmallone3 · 15/01/2019 15:29

16 week midwife apt tomorrow even tho il be 17+4.. seems like forever since Iv seen her.
I would love to hear a heart beat as I still haven't felt any movements yet but I'm pretty sure they don't do it til 24 weeks round here and still don't have an apt for my 20 week scan..
Maybe il put a cheeky request in..

Spargle · 15/01/2019 15:55

We’ve got a weekend away paid for by the in-laws, so that will have to do as our babymoon! Top choice so far is Grantham - not too far away, only ever seen it from the train station, and the hotel has a swimming pool. It would be so easy! But we might be a bit more adventurous, and might even go up to Scotland. We might tag it on the end of a work trip, to save on fuel costs and travel time...

My 16-week midwife appointment is on Thursday, at 18+1. Midwife only comes in every other Thursday, and I was working last time she was here, plus my dates were changed at the 12-week scan - was meant to be 17+1 according to the midwife (17+4 according to me). I, too, am very eager to hear the heartbeat. Think I actually got kicked three times today, though - in quick succession, and quite obviously. Baby must have been absolutely belting me! (Takes after its dad? He’s always been strong! Might be in trouble when it gets bigger - better work on those pelvic floor muscles.)

Curlywurly3 · 15/01/2019 16:09

@allfurcoatnoknickers I'm hoping for clear blue skies so I can sit it in the sunshine up the mountain with a hot chocolate! :)

@Reastie it wouldn't be self catering here either, DP loves cooking so you'd have all your dinners cooked ;) if you want any tips for this area feel free to give me a shout

@koalasatemyhomework I cried!!! haha. I really was starting to wonder if I was still pregnant and when I heard the strong heartbeat, well I was so happy! If you're on the FB group I have added a video on there. Also the MW pointed out my womb/uterus when I was lying on the bed, that was very cool and I can't believe I hadn't seen it for myself beforehand.. Thank you for asking :)

@crazycowlady yep you're right. I did some research a little while ago and DP can have a blood test when he gets back

@bigonesmallone3 and @spargle good luck at your MW appointments, fingers crossed they let you hear the HB xx

Blondcat · 15/01/2019 16:32

Thanks @smallgeezer we are having a lovely relaxing time. The weather is lovely and sunny and warm (not too hot it's about 20 ish) just a little breezy today. We are in lanzarote so flying time is only 4hrs which is enough for me (still managed to get up to pee 3 times in that having peed just before getting on the plane and needing to go again when we were waiting for our cases Blush).

KoalasAteMyHomework · 15/01/2019 16:53

Haha curlywurly just blame the tears on hormones Grin Glad it went well though!

Torsz · 15/01/2019 17:41

I'd love a babymoon but between being ineligible for maternity pay (having found out I was pregnant the day after leaving my old work) and being conned by our builder so having to pay an extra 25k for our kitchen to be finished, we can't afford/justify it.

Luckily we do have a couple of short breaks with friends and family booked (Center Parcs in feb and April) so can't complain too much, but some sunshine would be lovely!!

Good luck for all the upcoming scans/appointments - we finally have our scan coming up on Thursday (20+6) so hoping for good news so we can order the pram and car seat and start to get properly excited🤞🥰

HJ82 · 15/01/2019 20:25

Hi everyone
Chiming in- I'm due 18th June 😍 hello! I just got back from my babymoon. 3weeks at the beach in aus. No more holiday now, saving every penny!

HJ82 · 15/01/2019 20:28

@Torsz that's quite harsh!! I thought most companies pay regardless of time there these days😬

Torsz · 15/01/2019 20:52

@HJ82 unfortunately we were scammed by a guy that went awol back in September so have had to pay another company to finish it as we need our house back before baby arrives 😡x

MadeInCornwallx3 · 15/01/2019 21:08

Yay to all of those who had scans/ appointments today.

Hope everyone is feeling well.

I'm getting lots of very definite little kicks tonight, nothing for the first 18 weeks and now very definitely increasing gradually in strength. Still have quieter days than others though.

Also have 20'week scam on Thursday- then going to look at an S Max which would be able to take all five of us. Bloody stressful selling and buying another car Confused

stellarfox · 15/01/2019 21:11

@CrazyCowLady Sri Lanka is amazing and it’s actually zika free! If you go another time I’ve got a really good 3 week itinerary 😊

You all have got me thinking about holidays now. We tend to do our big holiday in Sep/Oct so have only just been to New England! I think I will have to see where we are money wise once we’ve got the big ticket baby/house items. We need a new front door and they are so expensive!

HJ82 · 15/01/2019 21:12

@Torsz I meant work place mat leave. But the tradesperson situ sucks!! 😣

HJ82 · 15/01/2019 21:15

@MadeInCornwallx3 that's great about the kicks! I'm 18 weeks today and can def feel bub in there in terms of heavy ness alternating sides etc but no actual kicks or twitches yet

Torsz · 15/01/2019 21:20

@HJ82 ohh I see, sorry 😂 nah you have to have worked there 1 week before getting pregnant to be eligible for statutory (and 4 months at my work for enhanced) so we don't get either as we were a few weeks beforehand...typical! We'll get maternity allowance which is better than nothing 😒

Heyha · 15/01/2019 21:26

Going off at a tangent but Morrisons also have some baby specials in at the moment in their seasonal aisle. A lot of the medicine cabinet stuff is on offer as are things like breast and maternity pads though I don't know if they're actually cheap or just cheaper than Morrisons normally do them IYSWIM. Apparent Lidl are at it next week as well!

Pigriver · 15/01/2019 21:55

Just picked up prescriptions from the pharmacy. Now on daily aspirin (once a day with food), iron (twice a day no food 1 hour before/2 hours after) plus the folic acid and vit D and daily laxatives 😩.
I came off the pill 8 years ago as I couldn’t remember to take it once a day......
Chased my referral to birth matters and mw wants to see me at 25 weeks which they don’t usually do for second pregnancies. I’m classed as ‘intensive’ and have appointments left, right and centre. Starting to feel a few flutters at 17+3 and have a noticeable bump.

I’d love a baby moon but as a teacher it would have to be Easter which is limited and expensive. We hope to go late September/early October when baby will be 3/4 months. We’d have been terrified to do this with our first but they are pretty easy at that age. The other option would be next year when baby is almost 1 so at the careening/starting to toddle at age which is a nightmare! Plus I’ll be on the last few months of mat leave with no pay.

excitedmama · 15/01/2019 22:18

Hi all, Hope you're well :)
20 week scan day for me tomorrow, I'll be glad to finally know if everything is okay as no movements yet.. :(
