@Kescilly it sounds like it’s probably normal, but why not give your midwife a call for some reassurance?

Mama062019 · 10/01/2019 12:10

Marking my Spot Due 26th June. No idea on gender yet Smile

Kescilly · 10/01/2019 12:25

Thanks @Spargle. I might end up doing that, I've gotten a bit hesitant to call in because of some experiences calling in my first trimester. I don't want to waste anyone's time (or feel like I am).

CrazyCowLady · 10/01/2019 12:31

@Kescilly It does sound quite normal, but agree with Spargle about getting checked out if its worrying you. Its likely a drop in BP because of the warmth (the vasodilation), or a little bit of dehydration, mixed with all the weird hormonal stuff going on right now. If it happens again somewhere non- related i.e middle of the street, then thats a little more worrying. But def worth a chat with your mw if you are concerned.

I've had a little bit of 'fainty-ness' feelings getting out of warm baths and needing help to get out. Just managed it REALLY slowly and holding on to husband. I used to get a similar feeling coming out of sauna's and steam room's though, so know its fairly common for me. Having a large glass of water in the bath helps too.

@Napssavelives - your situation sounds horrible right now. I'm so sorry. Hope you can get the right support and he bucks his ideas up soon. Flowers

On the movement front, is anyone getting regular movements yet? I've been getting them irregularly for weeks, might have 5-6 episodes one day, then maybe just one the next. And usually at different times of day too. I know its normal to not have regular movements until 24/40, but I'm starting to get a little worried. Especially with the anomaly coming up and that little thought of 'something major is wrong' keeps popping into my head. Arrrgh! Why do we worry so much? Does the worry ever end with parenting? I thought I would be VERY laid back as a mum, and now I'm not so sure... Hmm

Changingagain · 10/01/2019 14:25

Hi, I've only just found this thread because I'm daft and was looking in the pregnancy section . I'm due 24th June.

CrazyCowLady how many weeks are you? I'm 16 and have had 4 pretty definite movements over the last week. I can't remember exactly when I felt DS move, I think it was around 18 weeks. It was late before I had what I would call regular movements though. When they say "if you notice a change in movements for what's normal for you", I remember thinking but I have no idea what's normal for me, it's different every day, and that was 30+ weeks.

Bigonesmallone3 · 10/01/2019 14:34

@Kescilly
I get this when I shower, more so when I bath.. I'm sure it's the heat..
My blood pressure last week was 100/60..
Iv always had a naturally low blood pressure

Kescilly · 10/01/2019 16:12

Thanks everyone! We had the 20 week scan and it was mostly good. She couldn’t see the heart in enough detail so I need to go back. And the stomach is measuring large, so they moved up my glucose test. I’m stressed about the possibility of having diabetes and I wish they hadn’t just told me about it offhandedly in the middle of the hospital corridor.

She didn’t say anything about the sex, so I guess we are going with the results of the private scan from earlier. I didn’t know if we were supposed to ask or if they get annoyed because you’re there for health checks, not to find out if it’s a boy or girl.

My midwife had told me I’d get the whooping cough vaccine but they didn’t mention it. When I asked, they said that the person who does it wasn’t in and I’d have to go to the GP or come back to the hospital another time for it. 😕

Sosie91 · 10/01/2019 17:09

Just been to Aldi’s baby event.. I got some bargains.. anyone else been? Definetly worth a visit xx

Reastie · 10/01/2019 17:23

Kescilly feeling light headed and faint is in my pg book as common symptoms atm so sounds likely it’s normal. Having said that always good to check with a mw. Hope you’ve been ok since.

Nap it is absolutely not your fault. There is nothing wrong with you, it’s more with him that he was feeling this way yet continuing ttc, it’s unfair on you. I’m glad you’ve got an apt with a therapist. If it helps my mw has referred me to a mental health nurse, it might be useful to see if you can have similar to help you get through this.

Crazycow fwiw dds movements were never ever regular even at full term! I’d be reading about how I’d know my babies patterns and routine and it never happened, it was always completely sporadic!

Re Aldi, we’ve decided we’ll do reusable nappies but probably not until weaning when the solids become more....solid so it’s less mess. It’s been ages since dd was in nappies and we didn’t have an Aldi or Lidl near us then to buy nappies from but now we have both. Do experienced ones have shop/brand recommendations/avoids?

Blondcat · 10/01/2019 17:40

@kescilly hope you are feeling a bit better. I had a light headed moment last week at the end of the day on Friday just finishing up with work about to get ready to go to zumba and bam out of nowhere dizzy.. Thankfully I was working at home so just cancelled zumba and took it easy for the evening.

Got a cold come out last day or so which I am determined will not get any worse as going on holiday in two days! Dh has been ill for about three weeks so was inevitable I guess.

Even with my cold I am feeling much more positive after seeing my old yoga teacher today for a 121 session where she has advised me on pregnancy yoga I can do (she used to teach a pregnancy yoga class and is qualified) got a lovely little program to do at home which hopefully will complement the class I plan to do in a few weeks.

Reastie · 10/01/2019 17:49

Blond Envy of your yoga one on one. I’ve been doing yoga and just freestyling some stretches and poses and keeping it gentle. Is there anything huge to avoid? I’m assuming just nothing bump squashing, not lying on back flat and being careful with balances as we have less balance? I’ve been working on the basis of being very gentle and doing what feels right iykwim.

Blondcat · 10/01/2019 18:08

She said avoid deep twists and forward bends (gentle are fine) no laying on front or deep squats. Careful of hip openers if you get any pain in front pelvic bone so don't do. Laying on back for short periods are fine while you feel comfortable so bridge pose is fine she said your body will let you know when not to do it. Basically listen to your body and adapt as you change size.

Reastie · 10/01/2019 18:26

Thanks blond. I’ve been doing bridge pose and it feels fine atm and I’ve been doing gentle forward bend with blocks.

Blondcat · 10/01/2019 18:48

No problem. Oh yeah and no strong abdominal possess like plank.

hexagon01 · 10/01/2019 18:52

@Reastie we’ve done cloth since birth and found it much easier pre-weaning as we could just bung them in the bucket then the washer! (breastfed poo is water soluble so may be different if formula or combi fed). We now do half cloth half disposable, with disposables on nursery days. We use Lidl nappies as there’s one over the road and I think they’re brilliant, nursery use Aldi nappies which are also great, I’m really happy with both.

Pigriver · 10/01/2019 18:59

@reastie we used cloth from about 8 weeks. We tried loads of different types but I was a big fan of the miosolo bought from the Aldi baby events. Tots bots were also good but dhs demand for easy ones that use Velcro limited our options but was also good for nursery.

Pigriver · 10/01/2019 19:23

Today we found out we are having another boy!
We had a private scan as Dh and I were too upset with the death of him mum to enjoy the first. Dh is over the moon with another boy. I wanted a girl but I’m very happy that all is well. The scan was very clear and he was waving his little arms around.
Ds (3) came with us and was mildly interested which is an improvement or saying he doesn’t like babies!

hexagon01 · 10/01/2019 19:24

We have Tots Bots bamboozles with Motherease wraps and they’re really good, sthe nappies are so absorbant and the wraps are leakproof! I find our Miosolos tend to leak but I know others who love them.

Reastie · 11/01/2019 07:12

Thanks for the nappy comments. Hexagon my thinking with waiting until weaning is that from memory (sorry if tmi) the poos become more solid so would be easier to separate out from the nappy. Or do tots boys have a disposable liner to catch it all? I’m a bit concerned about smell and logistics of soaking them too as we’d wash every other day but I guess I’d get used to this.

Reastie · 11/01/2019 07:28

Pigriver and hexagon looking at tots bits website and they do look good —and I like the pretty designs— [shallow]. Do you have the easyfit ones or the ones with the peenut system? Also do you find them more bulky than disposables with clothes when they’re little?

Meant to say pigriver congrats on the boy, terrific news. Can’t believe in 3 weeks I find out too!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 11/01/2019 07:38

I keep toying with the idea of clith nappies, mainly been looking at tots bots, so that's really useful. Might see if I can borrow some from my local NCT nappy library.
Cheeky wipes have £10 off their wipes kit til the end of Jan so decided I am going to switch to reusable wipes at least.
Naps I'm sorry its such a tough time for you and echo what the others say. Hope the therapist is helpful Flowers

Kimbishop86 · 11/01/2019 07:58

I have cheeky wipes and love them! But we also tried tots bots easy fit and I found them very bulky with new borns and also they leaked a lot so we ended up on disposables. We will try again with this one tho as apparently they get more and more absorbent with every wash so maybe they’ll be better next time!

Torsz · 11/01/2019 08:13

I'm quite tempted by the cheeky wipes but have no experience - does it work out cheaper than disposables or is it just the environmental benefits? And how many would we need?x

Kimbishop86 · 11/01/2019 08:35

We have about 30, just wash and reuse constantly and have the odd pack of disposables for the changing bag incase we run out. They’re no bother at all and work out sooo much cheaper than disposables! We’ll get some more now we’re going to have two in nappies but 30 seems enough for one if you wash every other day or so. I find most of the time I only use one unless it’s a poo!

socktastic · 11/01/2019 09:19

@napssavelives so sorry to read what you're going through. Flowers I really hope you get to a happier place soon.

@kescilly hopefully it was just a one off. I'm going into second week signed off while they take more bloods and search for a cause to my faintness. Honestly sick and tired of hearing 'Oh, well, you know, it's all part of pregnancy feeling a bit off.... back to see Dr today.

Anyone else struggling with sleeping comfortably? I am a front sleeper. Always have been and I can't help flipping over in my sleep. Woke up with such a sore tummy this morning. Have looked out my big long pillow. I didn't have these issues last pregnancy!
