Honestly I was fine until I read a separate thread yesterday where someone got bad news at the 20w scan which means she has to terminate. Now I just want Tuesday to hurry up and I'm praying this little bean is ok. Baby is very active and I feel multiple movements throughout the day (and night sometimes) so I'm just trying to take comfort in that

LauralovesLuke · 05/01/2019 04:37

@rollerskatadata I spent yesterday morning in tears doing the same. I don't know why I continued to read; it was like emotional self-injury. Which is why I'm awake worrying at 4:35am and with 5 weeks to go until the scan.

Greentwins2019 · 05/01/2019 09:20

Hi I’m new to mumsnet completely but thought I would jump on for some wider support. Expecting twins 19 Jun 19. X

rollerskaterdata · 05/01/2019 09:36

@LauralovesLuke it really is so worrying isn't it, I'm sorry it's keeping you awake (I don't sleep great either but I think that's just pregnancy!). I keep telling myself odds are in our favour that everything is fine and worrying will literally not change anything. If it helps you get through the wait I would recommend a private scan, I'm not sure if they check for everything the NHS does but they'll look at major things I think. I did that at 16 weeks and also found out baby's sex which has increased my excitement and helped me bond more 🙂

KoalasAteMyHomework · 05/01/2019 10:13

Its really hard not to worry but just try your best to put things out of your mind. As someone up thread said - we hear about all the negatives and problems but millions of women have completely healthy babies and the scans are all perfect: -) I know that's easier said that done, and if you do encounter problems its hard but worrying won't make a difference! (This coming from one of the biggest worriers on Earth Grin)

We went for a private gender scan this morning and found out we're having a wee boy! 😍 They also did a health check and said all looks good with baby at this stage, I found that really reassuring ahead of the 20 week scan.

emily1511 · 05/01/2019 14:24

@WeeBean awwwwh how lovely! We’ve just had our gender scan too and it’s a little baby boy! Excitinggggg times!

WeeBean · 05/01/2019 14:30

@emily1511 yay!! We'd have been happy either way but I just had a feeling he was a boy and I can imagine us more with a boy. I'm now thinking what if they got it wrong even though it seemed pretty obvious he's a boy 😂

Seems so much more real now!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 05/01/2019 15:04

@WeeBean @emily1511

Congratulations on finding out you're having little boys!!

I FINALLY think I had 'proper' definite baby movement yesterday, 18 weeks exactly.

I lay on my stomach and could feel uterus like a small balloon, then inside it two little pokes! Def not gas Grin.

I've been unsure for a while but 18 weeks is similar to when I felt my previous two as well, it's so lovely. Smile

Torsz · 05/01/2019 15:35

@MadeInCornwallx3 how exciting!! Although do you really mean you lay on your stomach?!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 05/01/2019 15:38

@Torsz

Yep - I'm not very big at the mo so it's not uncomfortable for a short time, I can just feel the uterus when I lay that way.

Bigonesmallone3 · 05/01/2019 15:39

I laid on my stomach throughout my last pregnancy, with one leg cocked up to relieve any pressure..
So comfy..

Torsz · 05/01/2019 15:39

@MadeInCornwallx3 ah I see! I thought you actually meant on your back, I'm so bloated I think I'd explode if I lay on my front 😂

Pigriver · 05/01/2019 17:56

Welcome @Greentwins2019!
I think we have 3 sets on this group now @istef and I can't remember the other.....

hexagon01 · 05/01/2019 19:00

Hello, a question - is anyone else feeling dehydrated all the time? No matter how much water I drink I feel like I’ve not had any. Is this normal?! I get why I’d need more water than usual but I’ve got headaches from it all the time.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 05/01/2019 19:07

That’s nuts @hexagon01

I just had to SOS DH from downstairs as when I was giving DS his bottle in the rocking chair upstairs I was hit with a MONSTER thirst.

I also had it hit hard without warning on the fucking M3 the other day, was hellish as I was clawing DESPERATE for hydration plus I’m a nervous motorway driver anyway.

hexagon01 · 05/01/2019 19:09

Ugh dry mouth solidarity @PaulHollywoodsSexGut it’s doing my head in!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 05/01/2019 19:10

I’ve had it before though, both times and i hate it. That OMG I NEED WATER NOW NOW RIGHT NOWWWWWWWWWW is ‘orrible

Fabuluce · 05/01/2019 22:32

Yep me too, especially in the middle of the night when I have to gulp down a huge glass of water only to wake up 30 mins later for a pee. 🤦🏼‍♀️

toomanyflatwhites · 06/01/2019 06:02

Oh the dry mouth!!! I mostly get it at night but thought it was because I've had this shitty cold/nasal congestion for weeks so am getting a blocked nose and mouth breathing during the night...
But then I wake up with it, as I did at 3.30 this morning, and haven't been able to sleep again - gah!! Haven't had a night like that for a while and live in stupid open plan flat so can't even just go downstairs and make tea/watch tv without waking DP, so have been reading/phone scrolling (when I finished my book) in bed for the last 2.5 hours Hmm

Torsz · 06/01/2019 06:22

@toomanyflatwhites it's horrible isn't it?? I've had this cold for about a week now and trying to sleep is definitely the worst part! I've actually been considering trying to sleep sitting up as at least my head won't be as congested/pressured! Do you think it's taking longer for you to recover than normal?

toomanyflatwhites · 06/01/2019 08:34

@Torsz definitely!! I very rarely get colds, let alone ones that drag on. I do remember I had lots of congestion at night during my first pregnancy but I thought that was later on. Sleeping on more pillows does seem to help to an extent though then I can end up with neck pain so it's swings and roundabouts!!

Fabuluce · 06/01/2019 09:22

Nasal congestion is definitely a pregnancy thing. I got terrible snoring last time 😩

Kescilly · 06/01/2019 09:44

So exciting to hear about all the little boys! Now onto the namelists!

I've been like a crazy person about avoiding people and germs, but I have a poor immune system even when not pregnant. I'm worried about potentially stronger asthma meds that could be damaging to the baby. So I'm sure people around me think I'm being paranoid, but I'd rather be rude than really ill!

WeeBean · 06/01/2019 09:59

Another one with a cold here! Made worse by the fact I know I could have shifted this already with some Sudafed but I can't take it while pregnant.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon!
