It could be a number of things doc said. Bloody flow currently all being diverted to the placenta so it's not abnormal to feel wiped. However my bp was always high since having my son so the fact that it was normal when she checked could be an issue. Also, my bloods from my booking appointment still aren't back- appt was 14th Dec but there's been Christmas etc in between. She is going to chase them up as could be low on iron or volume.
Been signed off for a week now too so I'm dreading that text to my head!

@socktastic well I'm glad it doesn't sound like anything too sinister but hope they get hold of your bloodwork. The time off will prob help, with some extra rest. Hope you feel better soon.

Had my midwife appt today, heartbeat all fine. Got to have an extra hospital appt now due to having 2 blood transfusions last time (not because of blood loss). Disagreed withmy midwife about it to be honest so feeling quite grumpy now!

Hi just wondering if anyone suffering from bad sickness has found a toothpaste that doesn't make them throw up? Went to the dentist yesterday and he has suggested children's toothpaste with flavouring as brushing my teeth has been a trigger for sickness every day. Finally down to throwing up less than 5 times a day 🙌 (16+3)

Reastie · 04/01/2019 11:55

Crazycow I’ve been worrying about the same thing, in fact, part of me isn’t feeling like it’s real until after the 20 week scan. I don’t remember feeling so worried about the 20 week scan last time, I just remember being excited about finding out the gender.

Honeypea poor you. I find I can use mouthwash more easily than cleaning my teeth so you might be better off focusing on that than toothpaste (maybe a brush with just water. The mouthwash will get the fluoride on the teeth). You can get children’s flavours of mouthwash. Well done for managing to go to the dentist, the thought of a dentist prodding in my mouth atm makes me feel really rough!

HoneyPea · 04/01/2019 12:16

Reastie I had to go to check up on a tooth I had had removed before I was pregnant. I had taken some medicine the doctor gave me before I went but was still sick 3 or 4 times while he was cleaning them, just had to keep stopping (and apologising 😂) He wants me to go back in 3 months so he can clean them again which I'm really not looking forward to, hopefully the nausea and sickness will have passed by then 🤞🏻 DH has just come home with strawberry ice cream flavour toothpaste not sure how it will go down but I can only try!

Reastie · 04/01/2019 13:02

Is the brushing making it worse as you could try rubbing the toothpaste on your teeth with your finger to get the fluoride on them?

HoneyPea · 04/01/2019 13:19

Unfortunately it's a combination of the brushing and the mint flavour 😢 Can't handle mouthwash in the morning but can in the evenings.

lstef · 04/01/2019 13:42

@Honeypea - sounds rough. I was always close to throwing up when I brushed my teeth for a few weeks, started getting anxious about it. i figured out it was the movement of brushing, kind of jostling that Id feel in my stomach and made me feel sick - closing my eyes and moving around helped, so did warm water, and also brushing in the shower and using minimal toothpaste. I never had a problem with the mint flavour as such but hope you find something that works.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 04/01/2019 13:44

@HoneyPea poor you, sounds awful. Hope the strawberry works. My son has tasteless foam free toothpaste but not sure if thats only available via prescription as tends to be for people with sensory issues and/or on the autism spectrum. May be worth asking in the pharmacy if the strawberry doesn't work out!

stellarfox · 04/01/2019 13:49

My 20 week scan is 14th so not too long to wait. I am sure I’ll be anxious about it beforehand but don’t forget when you read stories about things going wrong there are probably 100 other good experiences that have happened for every bad experience, we just tend to hear about and remember the bad stories!

fee1234 · 04/01/2019 14:04

@stellarfox mine is on the 14th too 😊

stellarfox · 04/01/2019 14:19

@fee1234 😄 What time is yours? Mine is 2.45, but I also have my consultant appointment at 9.30 so I’m going to be back and forth to the hospital!

Fabuluce · 04/01/2019 15:31

@stellarfox I have a similar thing on 23rd when I have my 20w scan at 10am in the morning and fetal cardiac scan at 1pm. Definitely lunch at the hospital I think. Thankfully they have a very decent Pret there.

@LauralovesLuke BRAINs isn't just useful for induction but for the any appt regarding birth and the whole birth experience. This should be helpful. www.motherrisingbirth.com/2016/02/brain-acronym.html

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 04/01/2019 16:18

@fabuluce

Seeing as I’m seeing the Supervisor of Midwives on Monday that link is hugely helpful; thanks for posting xx

KoalasAteMyHomework · 04/01/2019 16:22

Thats a helpful link thank you!

fee1234 · 04/01/2019 17:11

@stellarfox mine is at 10:40. I'm trying to be naive and not read up too much before it!

CrazyCowLady · 04/01/2019 19:07

@Kescilly @stellarfox @Reastie - sounds like we all feel similar! I know the chance of something being wrong is very low, but it is still that 'what if?' feeling. I think I'm going to try not to think about it until its happening! Thanks for the reassurance. Good luck with your scans! Are you finding out the sex too?

@lstef - vaginal twin births are great, although I don't know how comfortable I would feel with a twin footling breech at home!! One of my favourite births to be at was a mum with babies 5+6 who was having induction. She had about 15 contractions in total and pushed the first one out with just me there. By the time the obstetric team arrived (about 4 mins later!), first baby was skin to skin and breast feeding, with contractions getting stronger for the next baby, who was born just as quickly. I loved it! But both babies were head down!!

Pigriver · 04/01/2019 19:16

@istef my friend delivered twins naturally (unplanned, went into labour early and rapidly) about 6 weeks ago. They tend to push for CS here but there was no time apparently!

Fabuluce · 04/01/2019 19:25

Seriously ladies, it made so much difference to me and all my discussions and birth. Especially when talking about decisions during birth - women often feel rushed/pushed into doing things without consultation or time to consider them. It may well be that the decision is the right one and all you need to do is ask for 5, 10, 15 mins to discuss it or if you can have an hour more before you move to the next stage and you will feel so much more in control over the whole process. Smile

MadeInCornwallx3 · 04/01/2019 19:28

My 20 week scan is the 17th.

I'm trying not to be too anxious I'm
Just very aware that it's an important scan and am just praying all is well.

Torsz · 04/01/2019 19:53

@MadeInCornwallx3 I could've written that word for word!x

MadeInCornwallx3 · 04/01/2019 20:00

@Torsz I'm going for a healthy level of caution!

Some people fly into the anomaly scan convinced it's just for sexing, I think it's good to be aware of it's true purpose.

Also going to try and enjoy seeing baby too - next time will be in real life 😬

Torsz · 04/01/2019 20:03

@MadeInCornwallx3 wow I hadn't thought about that - how crazy!! I'm trying to be optimistic and see it as a great bonding experience, and just hoping baby is healthy...I wish it was the 17th already!

lstef · 04/01/2019 22:05

@Crazycowlady - oh yeah totally, I wouldnt feel comfortable with a home birth at all let alone for twins (breech or not) - I just hope there is conversation and options with my consultant as I don't want them to automatically insist on a section. I think I just meant that sometimes its all over medicalised (imo), i.e. inducing at a certain point past due date etc. I get that they do it to minimise risks etc but there are risks with the interventions too.

Ive done all the swings and roundabouts - at first I wanted to be in hospital in any scenario, then before I knew it was twins I was fine with midwife led 20 mins from hospital then I wanted the birth unit attached to the hospital, then the decision got made for me with twinnies - back to what I originally wanted ha.

Hoping and praying they are ok in there, having some sharper pains tonight but nothing lasting. I just imagine them stretching out and kicking me where it hurts. Ive felt a few flutters but not completely sure its babies ( I like that thought tho!) 19 week scan for me on 16th. Consultant on 11th.

LauralovesLuke · 04/01/2019 22:46

Thanks for the link @fabuluce!

Also thanks @Koalas for the info about flavourless toothpaste - very useful to know it exists especially for children/young people on the spectrum.

@lstef it sounds like you have a clear idea of what you want and it sounds like you've given it a lot of thought. I think this will hold you in good stead!
