@Blii I was like that before the sickness started!

KMic · 17/12/2018 19:54

@Blii I haven't had any sickness yet and I'm 6 weeks today - I just think we are the lucky ones (so far) similar to you mild nausea here and there but nothing bad!

Rumour has is stronger morning sickness means a girl and less means a boy ... very interested to see if this comes true for those of us struggling / not at the moment!!

canonlyhopexo · 17/12/2018 19:54

@avacadooo yeah little ms poach queen said that it's recommended nothing is taking during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary and basically I wouldn't be given anti nausea or sickness meds until I had HG basically! Charming

avacadooo · 17/12/2018 19:59

@canonlyhopexo grand so you're meant to stop living your life for the next 9months? Ridiculous, there's something wrong with that woman😂

ScotsBaby2 · 17/12/2018 20:05

I agree with @Notanotherpawpatrol Go to the GP and get all the drugs. I was eventually signed off with HG and warned I was close to being admitted. I thought I just had normal morning sickness. I will be going much sooner this time.

It's definitely worth letting them decide how severe it is. The tablets made everything so much easier to deal with.

ScotsBaby2 · 17/12/2018 20:08

Oh and anyone feeling sick and taking Pregnacare, ditch it and get Boots own folic acid and vitamin D tablets. Pregnacare is well known for causing nausea.

EverythingNow · 17/12/2018 20:10

@Kmic I've never had sickness in pregnancy with my 3 girls. I have felt so sick this time though!

That sais I expect it's another girl, id love a boy but happy with either.

MummaGiles · 17/12/2018 20:11

I had to tell my bosses today because I was getting so conscious about having to hide in the bathroom for ages when I’m having bad cramping and feeling awful. They were super happy for me and really supportive, immediately coming up with ways to manage my workload when I am feeling ill. It made it so much more real telling someone who isn’t DH.

EverythingNow · 17/12/2018 20:11

@scotsbaby2 good to know! I am taking pregnacare!

Notanotherpawpatrol · 17/12/2018 20:11

@acacadooo most midwives can't actually give anything anyway, your best best is to go to your gp

Triskaidekaphilia · 17/12/2018 20:22

I had gentle nausea from about 3 and a half weeks, sickness and severe nausea all day from 6 weeks, then at 7 weeks it suddenly went away for 5 days, and for the last 2 days its been coming and going, mostly coming on when I'm hungry. So for those suffering really bad, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be going through it until 14 weeks+ like I thought I'd be!

TDLO · 17/12/2018 20:31

@canonlyhopexo I’m 6 weeks and you? I still can’t believe it and I think that’s the anxiety too. We were trying for a wee while (felt like forever) so I was just so shocked when I seen the BFP. I’m really happy though and trying to relax and enjoy it as we all should.

Trying to plan how to get through Christmas with no drinking. My family and I are all really big drinkers and I’m just not ready to tell anyone apart from my sister but she won’t be there Christmas Day. Anyone have any tips?

KMic · 17/12/2018 20:35

@EverythingNow that's that theory out of the window then! 🤣🤣 x

KMic · 17/12/2018 20:36

@ScotsBaby2 I'm only taking folic acid - boots own a should I be taking vitamin d too!? Nobody had mentioned this to me!

Noopey · 17/12/2018 22:11

I’ve just eaten two bags of those microwave rice packets for dinner. TWO BAGS! One egg friend, one coconut. What the fuck?! Gah. Pregnancy. It’s mad how it messes with your body’s wants and needs.

UnicornDust17 · 17/12/2018 22:38

I paid £2.49 for a bottle of orange juice at the station on the way home tonight as I was desperate for some OJ Xmas Confused

UnicornDust17 · 17/12/2018 23:03

@kMic this is from NHS pregnancy website:

Vitamin D in pregnancy
All adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, need 10 micrograms of vitamin D a day, and should consider taking a supplement containing this amount.

Vitamin D regulates the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body, which are needed to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy.

Our bodies make vitamin D when our skin is exposed to summer sunlight (from late March/early April to the end of September). It's not known exactly how much time is needed in the sun to make enough vitamin D to meet the body's needs, but if you are out in the sun take care to cover up or protect your skin with sunscreen before you start to turn red or burn.

Vitamin D is also in some foods, including:

oily fish (such as salmon, mackerel, herring and sardines)
eggs
red meat
Vitamin D is added to all infant formula milk, as well as some breakfast cereals, fat spreads and non-dairy milk alternatives. The amounts added to these products can vary and might only be small.

As vitamin D is found only in a small number of foods, whether naturally or added, it might be difficult to get enough from foods alone. So everyone over the age of five years, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, should consider taking a daily supplement containing 10mcg of vitamin D.

Most people aged five years and over in the UK will probably get enough vitamin D from sunlight in the summer, so you might choose not to take a vitamin D supplement during these months.

You can get vitamin supplements containing vitamin D free of charge if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and qualify for the Healthy Start scheme.

Sorry for the late reply! Passed out on the sofa and just woke up :/

@avacadoo - how lucky is that! I’ve read that it is possible but those people are like unicorns! Haha.

@Noopey - I feel you! I had two massive packets of hula hoops yesterday and it was glorious!

TDLO - what about shloer or some fizzy pop that looks like wine? If you can find a sneaky way to pour it without them noticing!

ScotsBaby2 · 18/12/2018 03:31

@KMic it's what we get as pregnancy vitamins in Scotland. We don't get much sunlight to top up our normal vitamin d though.

ScotsBaby2 · 18/12/2018 03:34

@avacadooo I weighed less 3 days after giving birth than I did before I fell pregnant last time due to sickness and my sickness only lasted 20 weeks.

Tell the GP how awful it is. Really ramp up the nausea, sickness and lack of eating. The drugs are good.

ss3ajb · 18/12/2018 06:22

I have had a little nausea but not much, worked out I am actually 6 weeks tomo slightly longer along than I thought so am anticipating it might start soon. I have been having pretty constant cramping which has been worrying me but internet says it's normal so trying not to panic. Am handing in my midwife papers to get my appointment today - am trying not to get too excited as still quite early but it's hard!

Sorry for those of you feeling so poorly :( hope it passes soon x

KMic · 18/12/2018 07:44

@UnicornDust17 thanks for this info! Might pick some up just in case Smile

Blii · 18/12/2018 09:21

@KMic yes I heard that a lot when I was suffering with my last two pregnancies, they are both boys and I was horrendously sick. Can’t remeber when the sickness started though.
Maybe it’s the opposite for me? No sickness = girl Grin
I don’t actually feel pregnant today. My symptoms seem to have gone, still have boob ache but no nausea feeling at all. Maybe it’s the calm before the storm...

KMic · 18/12/2018 09:36

That's good @Blii .. for me it's still mild nausea ... a bit more noticeable than yesterday... I am totally dreading that it's going to hit me hard at Christmas!!

Question to those that are suffering badly with sickness ... are you generally sicky people? I'm not usually the sort of person to actually be sick, never have been... wonder if this is related?

canonlyhopexo · 18/12/2018 09:39

@KMic cannot remember the last time I was sick. If anything I'm more of the other end kinda gal if you catch my drift! But I've started being sick now.
