Lovely to hear the good news about the scans! Glad all going well.

I've been reading that's it's advised you try to do some light exercise when pregnant - I used to go to the gym regularly but not been in a few months due to work being really busy was planning to start swimming in the new year which seems safe and recommended. I was wondering about pregnancy yoga have been reading positive things about it but have never done yoga before and wondered if anyone else had and whether they would recommend it? There's s taster class so may just pop along to see what it's like but he interested in others experiences Smile

Ninunina · 28/12/2018 10:44

@orangefolly I'm considering doing it at my next appointment. They don't do the nuchal fold tests as standard where I live, so it would be instead of that. I might wait til they take the neck measurements before deciding. My husband and I have different opinions on what to do if we do have a child with DS, so perhaps it's best not knowing.

Whoopsies · 28/12/2018 10:46

Thanks for all the well wishes ladies. Scan was good, saw a tiny little baby with a good strong heartbeat. She put me at 8+1 which is 1 day on from my dates. So all looks good. Dh us happy there is just the one!
@UnicornDust17 glad it all went well for you too!

Had an internal scan so they could have a good look for my coil, but couldn't see it anywhere. Barely even felt the probe to be honest, wasn't bad at all!

@ss3ajb pregnancy yoga is amazing! I did it from 15 weeks with the other sproglet. I loved it every week. It was an hour where I got to chill out and just focus on me and baby. I will be doing it again this pregnancy if the instructor has space.

EverythingNow · 28/12/2018 10:59

@ss3ajb I'm hoping to start pregnancy yoga at 14wks.

EverythingNow · 28/12/2018 10:59

Great news @whoopsies!

Ninunina · 28/12/2018 11:18

Great news @Whoopsies

KMic · 28/12/2018 11:29

Morning ladies ... tiredness and nausea still taking over my life ... and on top of that I have picked up a winter cold (after weeks of avoiding it!) I just wondered if anyone knows what medicines we are allowed to take?! I have taken one paracetamol in the past when I had a super bad head ache. But does anyone know what is advised for colds? Or just suffer through?

starryeyed13 · 28/12/2018 11:37

@Whoopsies amazing news on your scan!

@Ninunina haha I feel you! I have been rather gassy at times too. Super sexy, this pregnancy lark eh?!

@ScotsBaby2 that is a good way of looking at it Smile

EverythingNow · 28/12/2018 11:37

@Kmic. Poor you, paracetamol and make yourself a warm honey and lemon?

starryeyed13 · 28/12/2018 11:37

@KMic I asked my GP this - ibu profen is a no no, but anything paracetamol based eg night nurse should be fine. Hope you feel better soon.

starryeyed13 · 28/12/2018 11:41

@ss3ajb I've heard good things about pregnancy yoga generally! I might look into it too, although I am sooo inflexible!

I've found the advice on exercise generally quite conflicting. I normally do a HIIT based class 2-3 times a week. Online the info seems to me you shouldn't let your heart rate get too high, but my GP was rather blase about it all and said that there were women in her spin class still giving it their all at 8 months pregnant. I've been lazy the last couple of weeks (using Christmas as an excuse) but definitely want to get back into some sort of routine in the new year...

Funkyemzie · 28/12/2018 11:51

I will defo be looking into the pregnancy yoga and meditation for Labour although my first was induced for pre-eclampsia so the need for it didn't happen.

@Whoopsies that's great news on the scan...so do they think your coil just came out by itself?

So apart from waking at stupid times in the night, tiredness and aches in my boobs with really tender nips, I've not got anything else. Still having back ache everyday but not quite bad enough to take paracetamol. I've read backache is a normal symptom so not concerned.

Really want to take the decorations down today but DD won't let us, she would have them up all year though. Just having a chill day, DD is at mums, OH has gone climbing so I'm cleaning and then doing some revision for my CIMA this avo. Lovely!

KMic · 28/12/2018 11:56

Thanks @EverythingNow @starryeyed13 .. I'll get the hubs to stock up!

Kcjoe · 28/12/2018 12:11

Good luck with the scan @Whoopsies x

Kcjoe · 28/12/2018 12:15

Sorry @Whoopsies I forgot to refresh the page! Scan sounds good! I have to wait until 31st for a scan as I'm only about 5 weeks. I could feel the strings of the coil yesterday so I know mine is still there. @KMic I too have woken up with the dreaded cold this morning 🤧 not sure what to take other than paracetamol x

Funkyemzie · 28/12/2018 13:00

@Kcjoe, you can do a head steam with eucalyptus but only for about 1 min at a time, for ladies who aren't pregnant it's 10 mins. Also you could have just honey and lemon but you can have anything that is paracetamol based so you could have a Lemsip but I believe only the basic one as the flu plus one has something else in it, best to have a look on the nhs website or Google but I'm sure it's just the basic one. Hope it eases off soon lovely.

I'm also 5 weeks today according to fertility friend. Due on the 30th August.

Funkyemzie · 28/12/2018 13:02

Diffusing oils aromatically is a safe way to use essential during pregnancy. Essential oils like lavender and frankincense promote a peaceful mood and help reduce stress. Essential oils like lemon or wild orange are uplifting and make your house smell awesome. Eucalyptus works well as a decongestant.

That is off the NHS website.

Funkyemzie · 28/12/2018 13:04

I was also wrong...you CAN'T head steam, instead get a bowl of water, drop some eucalyptus in it and put it on the radiator, it will act in the same way but without raising your temperature...and eucalyptus is a good antibacterial oil so good for the air.

Whoopsies · 28/12/2018 13:14

@funkyemzie yes I think so. This is way tmi but my periods are really heavy so I reckon a bowling ball could fall out down there on a bad day and i wouldn't notice so it probably came out then and I just didn't realise! Glad they couldn't see it today though so can just forget about it (although will re-think my contraception choices after this baby!!!)

Funkyemzie · 28/12/2018 13:33

@Whoopsies that is both hilarious but awful at the same time!

Kcjoe · 28/12/2018 13:46

@Funkymemzie thank you! I have had a small bowl of steamed water with eucalyptus just before reading this. Only for a few seconds though! Its on the floor next to me now. I have a wax burner so I might pop some in one of those

Kcjoe · 28/12/2018 13:47

@Funkemzie I too am due between 26th and 30th August according to my app. I don't have regular cycles though so that's only based on my last 3 cycles being 22, 24 and 26 days x

Rachellev · 28/12/2018 14:10

Hi 7 weeks pregnant feeling so nauseous has anyone tried sickness bands?
