Hope everyone has had a magical Christmas!

@RaindropsRoses I know exactly what you mean! It's difficult to be chilled when it feels like you don't really have any control over what's happening. I guess the key is to try and enjoy the ride without obsessing too much (easier said than done!) I think having seen so many friends have bad experiences it's made me more nervous.

@ss3ajb aah that is very reassuring about your friend! I guess maybe those that have easier rides don't like to share it in case it's insensitive to those having a tougher time!

ScotsBaby2 · 26/12/2018 07:48

Merry Christmas everyone. We had a lovely day celebrating our first Christmas as a family of 3. DD isn't very well though and has a very sore cough so was pretty miserable. We are off to my parents for round 2 today and I now have the sore throat and cough. OH does too but he will get to have all the drugs so he is not allowed to complain.

We told OHs family yesterday and will tell mike today. They will all be sworn to secrecy until after the scan. No way I could get away without drinking at my parent's house today.

Has anyone else told family?

Anyone on Instagram? The part time working mummy has just announced her pregnancy for an August baby. Maybe she has joined us! Rach are you here?

RaindropsRoses · 26/12/2018 08:01

I told my mum but that's it so far (plus all my MN bus from 1st time round haha - they were first to know!). Got a family get together today but I'm going to drive so "my mum can drink as she drove me last year Wink"

ScotsBaby2 · 26/12/2018 08:31

@RaindropsRoses my bus were the first to know as well. After I told my OH he said "go on and tell the girls".

KMic · 26/12/2018 09:40

Morning everyone!!

A lovely Christmas Day was had by us! Woke up to the worst nausea I've had yet, but it finished by about midday so I was able to enjoy lunch! I did have some slight brown discharge yesterday, but it wasn't enough for a panty liner. Will be keeping an eye on it today, but I'm sure it's just normal. We told my family yesterday (my brother and his OH - my parents already knew) they ate so happy for us. But are under strict instructions to not breathe a word. We were meant to be out with them NyE with other people too, but they are going to help us keep the secret and get people off the scent.

Today I am hosting for OHs family. We will tell his Mum today too - his brother already knows. Then I think that will be it all we tel until the scan. (Apart from my boss). I'm 7+1 now. Booking apt with nurse is at 9 weeks. Then I'll be waiting to hear about the scan I assume.

To those who have had cramping, I also get it from time to time, feels like period pain mainly. Nothing unbearable. Breasts are also quite tender now and again.

Well .. that's my update. Hope you all have a great Boxing Day! Xx

Funkyemzie · 26/12/2018 11:43

We had a lovely day yesterday, still got backache a bit and boobs and nips were sore and I could literally sleep on a clothes line at any time! I told my mum and OH's mum yesterday and that's pretty much it. I didn't really join a bus but always read all the posts, I'm normally just an observer. Time for cooperation tidy up today and then round 2 tonight with my family. Hope everyone had a great day!

EverythingNow · 26/12/2018 11:56

Morning everyone. My scan is tomorrow - super nervous as sickness has very much subsided and I just feel (a lot) tireder than normal. I keep telling myself i had no symptoms with my others but luckily for me they were before losses which changes your outlook on things. Also I'm 39 and it's taken so long to get this far.

Is anyone else overweight? Does anyone know whether that effects scans? I'm hoping the MW will either refer me to slimming World or give permission to join. I'm just hoping the sonographer can see through my belly tomorrow and everything's ok! So embarrassing.

KMic · 26/12/2018 12:24

@EverythingNow from what I've read it can be quite hard to scan through fatty layers or too much water / gas ... so I guess it depends on how overweight you are? They should be able to do an internal one if the belly one doesn't work out 😊 good luck!!

EverythingNow · 26/12/2018 12:45

Thanks @Kmic. I'm a size 16, 15stone but very top heavy, my breasts are ridiculous. But yeah pretty over weight. I started 2018 2.5stone lighter but comfort ate after my miscarriage in April especially as the months went on with no success.

EverythingNow · 26/12/2018 12:46

I've actually lost a miniscule amount since falling pregnant but it's a drop in the ocean!

orangefolly · 26/12/2018 16:21

Hi guys, how did everyone enjoy their sober Christmases? Xmas Smile

I did miss a drink yesterday, I have to say, but it was nice to have a good reason! I had a coloured wine glass and since we hosted was able to sneakily top up non alcohol without anyone noticing (as far as I know!)

Feeling super achey in the lower abdomen at the moment, hoping it is stretching / natural feelings rather than anything wrong. Still queasy and off coffee. Also getting terribly sore muscles in my buttocks from the intramuscular projesterone injections. Woke me up last night!

orangefolly · 26/12/2018 16:41

@everythingnow I think you will be fine with the scan - I am also a size 16 had an abdominal one for when they did the embryo transfer and they could see fine. But depending how far along you are, they may do an internal one anyway.

EverythingNow · 26/12/2018 16:42

Thanks @orangefolly I will be 8w3d tomorrow.

Blueberry2018 · 26/12/2018 17:00

@EverythingNow Is this a standard NHS scan or are you having an early pregnancy one?

EverythingNow · 26/12/2018 17:05

@Blueberry2018 it's a private one. I booked it as reassurance because I've had two early losses and I'm 39. I wanted to be reassured before telling work when I return in January (12wk scan is not til 23rd Jan) but I've ended up telling them sooner due to risky conditions. It didn't really hit me til I saw something on another website about being obese affecting scans. I don't generally feel obese but I doubt anyone does!

Blueberry2018 · 26/12/2018 17:07

@EverythingNow That makes sense. I've had two losses too but am holding out for 12 wk scan, still undecided on booking private one x

EverythingNow · 26/12/2018 17:07

On the NHS here we get:

12 week dating/NT scan
20 week anomaly scan
36 week growth scan

Not sure whether there will be more monitoring for being older/obese.

How things have changed though, with my eldest (18) you only got a 20wk scan! And the 36wk is an new one since my other two.

Whoopsies · 26/12/2018 17:22

@Everythingnow I have a scan on the nhs on Friday, I will be 8 weeks. They did ask me on the phone my him and said if it was high it might have to be an internal scan just to warn me.

OP posts:
EverythingNow · 26/12/2018 17:51

Thanks @whoopsies! I don't actually mind an internal if needs be, I'd rather that than not being able to find anything, then having an internal!

starryeyed13 · 26/12/2018 17:54

@orangefolly It was sooo weird having a sober Christmas! Have to admit DH has been an absolute sweetie and bought me three different types of non alcoholic gin and some non alcoholic fizz. Tbh it tasted rank, but think my tastebuds are a bit screwed st the moment anyway!

Sober new year is going to be an interesting one Grin

RaindropsRoses · 26/12/2018 18:30

Is that 36week scan right? Ds is only 19m and there wasnt a scan after 20w for him?

Good luck tomorrow everythingnow!

UnicornDust17 · 26/12/2018 18:40

Oh @orangefolly I'm with you on them sore injection sites ☹️ I did one wrong the other day and made it bleed, and because I'm on blood thinners and aspirin it wouldn't stop for a bit. Then I accidentally slept on that side and started the bleeding off again Confused.

Having to go back to my belly now, not looking forward to injecting tonight..

UnicornDust17 · 26/12/2018 18:41

@EverythingNow good luck with your scan tomorrow Smile

Blii · 26/12/2018 19:01

Good evening everyone, hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
Good luck for those with scans coming up Grin
@EverythingNow in my area (north London) we don’t get the 36 week scan unless bump is measuring big or small towards the end. My bump stopped growing with DS1 at 32 weeks so I had a few extra scans with him and had to be hooked up to a monitor. It must differ from area to area.

My sickness is here now! (Yay) at least I know things are progressing and it actually puts my mind at rest so much! Even though it’s horrible feeling like this, it’s all worth it. I havnt actually been sick yet although I have been reching and gagging everywhere and feel incredibly sick. I’m trying to hold it in.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

EverythingNow · 26/12/2018 19:44

Thanks for the good wishes @raindrops it was in the info that came with my 12wk scan details and I'm sure my sis said she had one but we will see! Not sure you would see much anyway as baby would be so big.

Thank you too @unicorndust17 and @blii. I will let you all know how it goes.
