Good luck @dragonmummy17 ! Hoping all is well xxx

KMic · 24/12/2018 08:05

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! It's 7 weeks today for me! I feel that every week reached is a mini milestone! Nausea has stepped up a gear, tiredness persists and the bloat comes and goes (mainly constant at the mo) I find that I'm not particularly hungry, but when I start eating I can just polish off my plate no problem (something I hardly ever did before) - so strange! Praying for minimal nausea tomorrow!!

Does anyone know if smoked salmon is safe to eat? That's always our started alongside prawns?!

UnicornDust17 · 24/12/2018 08:18

@dragonmummy17 good luck with your scan. I had quite a few bit of bleeding 2 weeks ago but all was fine at the scan. I also went alone. Fingers crossed all is fine for you too!

ScotsBaby2 · 24/12/2018 08:19

@Ninunina are they from home kept chickens?
My partner's family keep chickens and I never ate their eggs while pregnant as they have not been vaccinated against salmonella.

Birdtale · 24/12/2018 08:20

@Blueberry2018 thank you! She said I was 6+5 so EDD is now 13th August. Showed my MIL who is an ex nurse and she's convinced baby will be a tall one! Was so lovely to see a beating heart it was very surreal. Hope you're ok! X

UnicornDust17 · 24/12/2018 08:20

How far on are you? Is it your first?

Blueberry2018 · 24/12/2018 08:30

@Birdtale thats amazing :-) i'm rough due date of 11th aug atm going off lmp till i have my scan x

Ninunina · 24/12/2018 08:40

@ScotsBaby2 they are chickens from an organic farm. All certified & vaccinated. I've visited the farm so I know the welfare and cleanliness is very very high, so there is a very low risk. I'm not in the UK so there is not lion stamp.

UnicornDust17 · 24/12/2018 08:45

@KMic smoked salmon is fine according to NHS

How many scans this week?

Mine is Friday and booking in appointment on Saturday.

12 week scan booked 22nd Jan, if all goes well.

Jelliestogether · 24/12/2018 08:52

Just thought I would pop here and catch up! Lovely to see so much good news regarding scans etc.

I wanted an early scan but my OH wasn't keen so think we will hold fire. I should get my 12 week scan beginning of Jan anyway. Fingers crossed with Xmas and new year it'll go quickly! Trying to not tell work until after the 12 week scan but I'm a nurse so mine and baby's safety will obviously come First.

Went to my girls Christmas dinner....a really close friend was straight on it, so her and her OH know now but keeping it a secret until after the scan to tell others!

ScotsBaby2 · 24/12/2018 08:53

@Ninunina if vaccinated against salmonella then go for it. Eat all the puddings. Enjoy xx

Whoopsies · 24/12/2018 08:56

@UnicornDust17 mine is Friday too, I'll be 8weeks.

I've been loving not worrying about eggs this time round (the advice has changed in 6 years!!)

The woman who works in my local Costa is on to me 😂 She is always there when I go and knows my usual order so this week was all like "oh, you've switched to decaf eh?!" While giving me a funny look!! She has kids too so I'm pretty sure she knows!! 😂

Ooo thanks @UnicornDust17

EverythingNow · 24/12/2018 09:00

@unicorndust17 I have a private scan on Thursday at 8+3.

I have my booking in appointment next week at 9+2. My referral for NHS 12wk scan went off on 11/12 but I don't expect I'll hear before January. I hope it isn't too late!

milly2000 · 24/12/2018 09:16

Really exciting time with everyones scans coming up.

Im a bit concerned. I was woken up twice last night with bad cramping. I never really has period pains so I don't really have anything to compare it to but it was very uncomfortable. Anyone else have any experience of this?

Whoopsies · 24/12/2018 10:08

I've been a bit crampy. But its either been a digestive type pain (constipation/trapped wind) or more of a muscle pain. I have a tight stretching crampy feeling today, but I think it's because we dtd last night and I guess I'm feeling a bit sensitive down there. It's a different feeling to a uterus type cramp. But hard to explain . This was really unhelpful sorry!!

RaindropsRoses · 24/12/2018 10:36

I'm still having cramps on and off (only 5 weeks), it is normal but hard not too worry. I think we will book an early scan too but everything is still ages to wait at the moment being such early days! Planning to make a midwife appointment in the new year.

Sorry to all those that have concerns about telling work, its rubbish we should even have to think about that at a time that should be so happy. I'm part time now so can hopefully fit appointments around it until I am ready to tell them and I drank alot at my Christmas party earlier in the month so that was one occasion I didn't have to dodge!

Blueberry2018 · 24/12/2018 11:24

@milly2000 i wouldnt worry unless bleeding accompanies cramps or increase in dark discharge x

UnicornDust17 · 24/12/2018 11:32

Oh @milly2000 I hope you're OK? If you see my post last week I was worried as my cramping had disappeared Confused

As long as no bleeding it could just be stretching and growing. Hope it settles down xx

milly2000 · 24/12/2018 12:47

I haven't had any spotting so I'm just going to try and go with it for now then. I'm an over thinker which isn't doing me any favours in these early weeks.

My morning sickness has increased though, this morning I was really sick tmi sorry. Previously I've just been heaving. It's horrid though. I find myself getting really hot before having to run to the loo. Thankful I'm off over this Christmas period as I'm not sure how I would manage at work.

I've been reading everyone's concerns about telling work. I think it's a difficult one. I told my boss as soon as I new as I had a few appointments plus other things going on. I felt pretty bad. I work for a small company and it's myself and my boss and everyone else is a subcontractor. I've worked for him for two years now and am 26. I think he thought I wouldn't be worried about babies until about 30 so I could see he was shocked. He's been very good about it all though. Women have babies it's a fact of life and if they get crappy over it maybe there just not great people anyway.

Funkyemzie · 24/12/2018 14:09

OMG absolutely blarting my eyes out at We Bought a Zoo!!!! 😢😢

dragonmummy17 · 24/12/2018 14:25

So I had the scan and they could just about see a yolk sack but not much else. Measurements are around 6 weeks which can't be right as we last dtd 6 weeks ago! So its not looking hopeful although I will have another scan in a weeks time.

EverythingNow · 24/12/2018 14:57

Oh @dragonmummy17 sorry to hear that. Fingers tightly crossed for your next scan xx
