@ScotsBaby2 sorry I mean BOOK

QueenofFox · 22/12/2018 23:21

Thanks @dragonmummy17

I also started a new job 5 weeks ago (completely new place) and found out I was prego three weeks in. Eeks! They won't be happy, quite decide when to tell them. I'm not sure I qualify for SMP which is super annoying! Need to figure all that out in time.

mrsof20118 · 23/12/2018 03:46

Checking back in on this post. Lots of catching up to do

Ninunina · 23/12/2018 06:58

@QueenofFox I also just started a new job in a new company in November. I'm so embarrassed about telling them. I'm going to hold off for as long as I can so I can prove myself a bit. Then I'll be honest that this is an unplanned pregnancy. I'm already worried that they won't reduce my hours or agree to extend my maternity leave. It's the kind of company where you are expected to work long hours.

dragonmummy17 · 23/12/2018 10:17

@QueenofFox @Ninunina we'd been trying to get pregnant for months, the promotion opportunity came up, we decided I should go for it and to take a break from ttc while I settled in. But I was already pregnant I just didn't know it yet! Luckily it's the same organisation so it doesn't affect maternity pay and I'm already part time, but I'm dreading telling them. It feels like I'm letting them down

KMic · 23/12/2018 12:30

Morning ladies! Hope you are all ok! I'm feeling incredibly short tempered today!! Mood swings like no mans business! 🙈

Funkyemzie · 23/12/2018 12:34

@dragonmummy17 @Ninunina & @QueenofFox I'm in exactly the same position as you guys, took a promotion in October, I've been doing ok but there's only 3 in my team and they have been working with only 2 for a long time but the workload got too much for them.

I'm going to feel really guilty about telling them because theyre a fab team but I couldn't stop ttc, we were concerned that with us getting older we didn't have the time to stop. I'm in the same company so it's continious service so I still have the same Maternity rights. The maternity pay isnt amazing though so won't be having the full year off anyway.

Goodness me we've all done well!

Funkyemzie · 23/12/2018 12:40

@KMic aww shug, I have just been cleaning the house while my OH and DD play on the PlayStation. Obviously he knows but she doesn't, I have to keep sitting down cuz got raging back ache. I think I have the right to be bad tempered! Feeling guilty and emotional for shouting at them though...cant win! They have just got up off their arses and started helping me. He's making the lunch for us now! 😁

Blueberry2018 · 23/12/2018 12:44

@Funkyemzie i am majorly stressy and argumentative atm aswell- blame the hormones. My husband is getting the brunt of it :( feel bad for him!

KMic · 23/12/2018 12:44

Haha @Funkyemzie ahh at least he is helping you now!! I keep remembering deep breaths!!!

Funkyemzie · 23/12/2018 12:48

I think i might just go lock myself in the garage! 😂

EverythingNow · 23/12/2018 12:52

I'm on a temporary contract (been there just under 2yrs) so Idont know whether I'll be eligible for SMP or MA. Either way my salary is a similar amount so doesn't really matter.

I know it feels uncomfortable letting work know, particularly if you're promoted. I got promoted just before I got pregnant with dc2 then came back from mat leave 14wks pregnant with dc3. I doubt I was popular but despite being a loyal, hardworking employee from before I had dc1, they treated me unfavourably over the years especially when pregnant (and especially by female bosses!) Details of which would be outing.

But we women only have a finite number of years/opportunities to have babies whereas we have years and years to work. Therefore, if it upsets employers frankly they're probably not great employers anyway!

canonlyhopexo · 23/12/2018 13:23

Afternoon ladies.

Have been reading and catching up but just haven't had the energy to join in much as just been feeling so nauseas and or being sick. Can't be bothered to even move out of bed most of the time. Really depressing especially this time of year!

Sorry to read some of you have concerns telling your employers. I told mine the same day I found out. They all knew we were very much hoping for children so I just got it out there straightaway. I've been signed off with hyperemisis now and I am worried about any judgement etc especially as we're short staffed at the moment but I can't help it and I think employers have to be understanding. My bosses are lovely so luckily haven't felt too under pressure as of yet but I've just decided I'll be doing what's best for me DP and the baby. This is such a special and exciting time we shouldn't feel work should play into it too much I don't think.

xLauraa · 23/12/2018 16:37

Im soooo tired all the time and I don't like it 😔

I train 2x per day usually 4-5 days per week so I'm not used to being this idle!

Hope it doesn't last long 😩

Birdtale · 23/12/2018 21:20

Evening ladies

Thought I would let you know we went for our scan today and saw a yolk sack and embryo plus a very visible beating heart so very happy! Was worried though as couldn't find anything on the ultrasound so the lady had to do an internal scan (not painful at all) and saw he/she straight away. So so happy and feel we can finally tell people now. Would definitely recommend going private if you need reassurance early on.

Sorry to hear the nerves about telling employers but it's your life! I just hope your bosses are pleased for you Smile

Blueberry2018 · 23/12/2018 21:40

@Birdtale congratulations, i was thinking about you today! How far along are you now? What a relief!!

ss3ajb · 23/12/2018 21:43

August 2019 Babies, part 2!
xLauraa · 23/12/2018 22:04

@ss3ajb YES with you on the tiredness and bloating! I'm living in leggings at the moment!!

Ninunina · 24/12/2018 06:22

Super scan pic @Kileah18 Smile
I'm hoping for one like that on Thursday. I'm feeling quite positive since the pregnancy symptoms have stepped up a notch. I'm spending a lot more time with my head down the loo these days, and I don't know if it's possible, but my tummy shape has changed to a pregnant one over the past 2 days. It could be due to all the Christmas indulgence, but my DH says it's pretty obvious I'm pregnant and I'm not going to manage to keep a secret for much longer. It's probably due to my overly split tummy muscles.

Ninunina · 24/12/2018 06:40

I just realised that both the desserts on Christmas Day will contain raw eggs. Would you risk if you knew that the eggs are organic and you know they come from healthy chickens?

Twitwooo · 24/12/2018 07:08

@Ninunina lion stamped eggs are safe so I would be fine with those.

I have discovered some liver pate is on the course for me which is a no no due to the vitamin a in it so will have to skip that one !

dragonmummy17 · 24/12/2018 07:23

Lovely scan @Kileah18
I've had some bleeding over the weekend. Been booked in to EPU to have a scan this morning.
I'm swinging between hope it's all ok and I get to see a little bean this morning and terrified that I won't see anything. DH has to stay with DS so going on my own too

EverythingNow · 24/12/2018 07:57

Good luck today @dragonmummy17

My scan is Thursday too @Ninunina!
