Hi ladies,

I have had a fair bit of brown discharge this morning on the tp when I wiped. It was mixed in with watery cm (sorry for tmi!) I had this in my last pregnancy too, I know I have cervical erosions from my last smear so think I’ll just give it a few days to see what happens. Have not had any cramping either.

My midwife said to call the EPU straight away if any spotting or bleeding happens.

What a worrying time 🙁

marajade12 · 22/12/2018 11:59

I am taking the fact that I don’t have any cramping as a good sign.

Bakingabean · 22/12/2018 13:34

Hi all!

I had an early scan today (private one) at 8+3 and according to the sonographer it's measuring 8+3. There was a little heart beat and everything. I thought it would make the whole thing more real but I still can't quite get my head round it. I keep looking at the picture thinking wtf!

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for everyone one having confusing times. Positive vibes all round.

Oh and I totally get the pains down low and wonder if it's cramping, but it turns out it's definitely wind. Nearly blew myself off the sofa last night! Sorry TMI! DP was shocked!

dragonmummy17 · 22/12/2018 14:27

@Bakingabean lovely to hear about your scan
@marajade12 I also know I have cervical erosion and had pink and brown spotting in my last pregnancy. This time I've had a little pink and brown but also some red spotting and that really makes me worry

Blii · 22/12/2018 15:20

Hi everyone,
Sorry to everyone having a confusing time. Early pregnancy is such an anxious time. Wish we could have 24/7 camera in there GrinConfused.
Well last time I posted I didn’t feel pregnant and was losing my symptoms. It seems they come and go.
Right now I feel ill. I feel sick but not like I’m going to be sick but I could easily be sick if I wanted to, it’s hard to explain. I ave no energy and feel generally lethargic I think.
I’m trying to keep up and about though, I have to for the kids, I’m so glad it’s half term now though, no more school run for a couple of weeks. Hurray.
Hope everyone is doing ok.
I’ll be 6+3 tomorrow which is the exact time I lost the other two so I’ll be very anxious. I’m also working all day so perhaps that will take my mind off it. Busiest day of the year for me.
I might not be back on now until after Christmas so I wanted to wish you all a merry Christmas. Hope you all have a lovely day xx

Blueberry2018 · 22/12/2018 15:45

@Blii Wishing a speedy, stress free day tomorrow and hope that this little one sticks. Have a fantastic christmas!!

stylix1981 · 22/12/2018 17:19

hi everyone just a quick question, i know we cant have really hot baths (such a bummer) but can we have hot showers? I really need to just chill in the hot water but not sure if it has the same effects as sitting in it.

Also wanted to wish all a merry christmas as we have a tradition in our house where all electronics get packed away for christmas so will not be around till after boxing day.

KMic · 22/12/2018 17:36

@stylix1981 I sure hope so because I can't stand cold showers so I've been having them! I must admit since reading the posts about baths I have been making sure I don't stand facing it (so it goes over my belly) as much, but I'm sure it's ok!

What a lovely idea for no phones etc! Have a lovely time xx

Blueberry2018 · 22/12/2018 18:48

As long as shower is not too hot to the point that it makes you sweat through raising body temp then it is fine.

Birdtale · 22/12/2018 19:06

Evening ladies... I have a early scan booked for tomorrow and I will be 6+2. Is this too early? Or has anyone else had one at a similar time? Myself and partner felt it's best to have a scan so we can tell our nearest and dearest as I'm fretting people will know when I'm not drinking over Christmas and NYE.

Blueberry2018 · 22/12/2018 19:42

@Birdtale You should be able to see fetal pole and yolk sac and possibly heart flicker by then. Good luck! How much are you paying for the scan if you don't mind me asking? We are thinking of doing the same at 8wks.

Birdtale · 22/12/2018 19:59

@Blueberry2018 thank you! We're paying £45 and if they can't see anything we can go back for free. I looked at another place and it was £75!
It sounds silly but we're going abroad for NYE and the girls wants to do cocktails on one of the days so I can't get my partner to hide drinks for me so I'd rather take the stress away and tell the people I need to so I can relax!

ScotsBaby2 · 22/12/2018 20:16

@Blueberry2018 you can usually get good deals on Groupon etc

Blueberry2018 · 22/12/2018 20:18

@ScotsBaby2 brill i'll have a look thanks!
@Birdtale sounds like a good plan, i think i'd do the same tbh in your shoes! This is 3 rd preg in 6 months, will be our first child. After ectopic in aug and mc at 5 wks in nov we are slightly nervous x

Birdtale · 22/12/2018 20:35

@Blueberry2018 fingers crossed this one goes well for you! So nervous too, this is my first pregnancy and every little thing is worrying me. I've had a cold for 2 weeks now and today has been the worst so got in to our out of hours doctor. Checked over and all ok just told me what I knew already but nice to be reassured x

QueenofFox · 22/12/2018 20:41

Hi everyone. I had a scan yesterday. I though I was 6+6 but they dated it at 6 exactly so I guess due date may change at 12 weeks. I could see the heart beat and a really clear view, about 4mm. And just the one! So sweet and excited. Means I have longer to wait till I can tell people, as still want to keep things quiet. It's reassuring but still feels like a long few weeks ahead until the all clear. Hope you're all doing well.

Blueberry2018 · 22/12/2018 20:41

@Birdtale yes definitely, always nice to be reassured. This pregnancy is totally different to our last two, no spotting or bleeding, no pain to the extent i had with first one. Horrific nausea and breasts grown over a cup size and im 7wks tomorrow so im thinking it'll be fine this time 🤞!!

Blueberry2018 · 22/12/2018 20:43

@Birdtale where are you going for NYE? My hubby is a pilot, but luckily i have him home for NYE 30mins before clock strikes midnight!! Aslong as he isnt delayed in Egypt!

chiatta · 22/12/2018 20:47

Hello all! My symptoms seem to be mostly heightened smell, sore boobs and feeling very bloated and heavy. Tiny bit of nausea but it’s not putting me off my food.
Went in a steam room/sauna and didn’t know it wasn’t advised in pregnancy. Spent a long time freaking out and researching what it can apparently do (neural tube defects... MC....) feel like an idiot and continue to be worried. Also had a few forkfuls of spaghetti carbonara before I remembered about EGGS, dangerous raw eggs. Has anyone had experience of this?
Filled in referral form for maternity services but am yet to hear from midwives, have tried to call but it just rings. Am 6 weeks today. Hopefully they’ll call, as I want to sort my booking in appointment.
Just before I found out I was preg I interviewed for, got and accepted a much better job than my current one. Should be starting in April so I’d only be there for a few months before maternity. That’s not going to go down well with my new employer I don’t think.
Any advice would be appreciated re how and when to tell new employer.
This pregnancy still hasn’t sunk in 100% and I keep worrying the worst will happen. Especially because of the sauna and the egg.

Bakingabean · 22/12/2018 20:56

@birdtale @blueberry2018 it definitely reassured me. This is my first pregnancy and no previous losses but I was still so anxious that something would be wrong. Feel like I can relax a little now that I've seen the little kidney bean!

I paid £80 but I'm in London and didn't shop around for clinic as I needed to go as close to home as poss (injured so travelling too far is tricky). I was all very quick but professional and friendly and I've got 3 printed pictures.

@queenoffox it's pretty cool seeing it, but still kinda unbelievable!

dragonmummy17 · 22/12/2018 21:07

@chiatta if you are in the UK you should be fine with the eggs as they will be lion stamped and free from salmonella. Hopefully you will be fine with the sauna too... lots of people don't know they are pregnant by 6 weeks
I got a promotion and started the same week I found out I was pregnant. They aren't going to be happy either! Does your new job affect your maternity pay?

@queenoffox glad your scan went well

ScotsBaby2 · 22/12/2018 21:07

@chiatta eggs are fine as long as they are red lion stamped. Any restaurant will use safe eggs. You can also have runny eggs with red lion stamped eggs.

Steam room/sauna ok if you aren't getting too hot.

There is a great book called Debunking the Bump which uses research papers to go through different common misconceptions about pregnancy.

Funkyemzie · 22/12/2018 21:32

Evening everyone!

@newmumma19 I hope the next scan goes exactly to plan and it may very well be an ovulation thing!

I have had terrible back ache today to the point I've had to take 2 paracetamol. Would have been af due date today.

Question, when do the midwives call? I sent off my booking form on Wednesday but not heard anything yet. Obviously it's very early so no rush but just wondered, it's self referral where I am because I'm in the middle of 2 hospitals. The one my doctors use I can just call and book but the one I'm going to is in the next county so different process.

I didn't know about the hot water thing...its been 11 years since I had my daughter so can't remember anything. I have showers that are literally turning me lobster...shit!!!! In my 1st pregnancy this year, I went to the booking in appointment and I don't remember anything about it being said!

Birdtale · 22/12/2018 21:33

@Blueberry2018 we're going to Dublin with two other couples, I thought we could do it but when one of the girls mentioned a cocktail day I freaked, no way could I get away with alcohol free ones without questions! Fingers crossed no delays 🤞🏼

@Bakingabean thank you for the reassurance I'm excited but nervous at the same time hopefully I see something

chiatta · 22/12/2018 22:03

Thank you @dragonmummy17 I am not sure re maternity pay, I’m in the NHS and I’ll have over a year continuous service in NHS in my new job, which is also NHS. Need to double check. I can’t stay in my current job due to many issues.
@ScotsBaby2 that sounds like a good website, thanks! Will have a look. I hate the scaremongering of pregnant women.
