So had scan this morning. Should have been 7 weeks and 6 from lmp. Was told scan showed 4-5 weeks. There was gestational sac and yolk sac. Have to go back in two weeks.

Have read yolk sac doesn't appear until 5 weeks so can't be 4 weeks surely. Read so many mixed things.

Anyone experienced anything like this?

canonlyhopexo · 21/12/2018 20:29

Evening ladies

Sorry to hear some of you aren't feeling tip top. It's horrible isn't it but hopefully worth it in the end.

Does anyone ever get any kind of pains/cramps/almost like tingling sensations in their tummy? In the evenings I really bloat but last two nights I've got these funny cramps and tonight feels particularly uncomfortable. Almost like a tightening. Feels like I'm going to get a sudden bout of the trots or like I need to let out a big fart lol! (Sorry if that's TMI)

KMic · 21/12/2018 20:33

Hi all!

@canonlyhopexo I get almost period type cramps here and there - I think it's just the stomach muscles stretching and getting themselves ready. Are they painful or more uncomfortable? If it's painful you should probably call your doctor? If you're not getting any bleeding though I wouldn't worry - it's probably just what I said about. Try not to worry!!

Sorry @newmumma2019 - no experience with scans! Sounds like they are really giving mixed messages with these scans! Quite glad I haven't booked one now as would probably make myself worry more!

Really bloated this evening! Might have something to do with the curry I just demolished though! 🤣

canonlyhopexo · 21/12/2018 20:45

@KMic yeah they're kinda like period pains. I have endometriosis so used to different aches and pains and what not. No bleeding and not really painful or sore more uncomfortable. I'm so bloated it feels like I need to just do a massive fart 😂😂

KMic · 21/12/2018 21:02

@canonlyhopexo hahaha! Sounds very similar to me!! I wouldn't worry at all 😁

dragonmummy17 · 21/12/2018 21:35

@canonlyhopexo I've had a few cramps like this on and off. It's everything stretching. Or sometimes its wind Blush
@newmumma2019 sorry you are going through this. No experience but is there any chance that you could only be 4-5 weeks?

newmumma2019 · 21/12/2018 21:40

@dragonmummy17 I don't know any more. Lmp was end of Oct. had positive pregnancy test just under 4 weeks ago. Can you get a positive test that early?

It's all very confusing. She said it may all be well and just wrong dates or could have stopped developing. Tough to have to wait!

dragonmummy17 · 21/12/2018 21:49

@newmumma2019 that all just sounds so stressful and confusing. Hugs and I hope you have lots of support for the next 2 weeks

UnicornDust17 · 21/12/2018 21:51

@newmumma2019 sorry you're going through an anxious wait. I've been in a similar situation however there was no yolk sac, so that sounds positive? . I know it's going to be so tough to wait, but fingers firmly crossed here for you.

Is there any possibility you could have ovulated later than you think?

orangefolly · 21/12/2018 22:03

@newmumma2019 I'm sorry you're having to go through the uncertainty and the waiting. Hoping it's a dates issue for you.

@nuinuna I too am on levothyroxine and progesterone (along with steroids, blood thinners and oestrogen - IVF!). Higher TSH can be associated with higher miscarriage rates so they may just be covering their bases and reducing the risk as much as they can. I pretty much rattle with all the pills and injections I'm on now, but it's sort of comforting to think there are a couple of risks covered at least! Do you find the progesterone makes you grumpy?

Hope you're all feeling alright tonight. To my horror, this week I've developed an aversion to the smell of coffee (I love it normally!!). Bit queasy but not too bad.

UnicornDust17 · 21/12/2018 22:22

Oh @orangefolly I'm also on steroids, blood thinning injections, progesterone, ranitidine, low dose aspirin, high dose Vit D, omega 3 and a pregnancy multivitamin Confused plus, erm, lactulose Blush

14 tables and day... I also rattle. Does progesterone equal grumpiness? I've noticed that I'm a lot less patient than usual...

Fingers crossed this all works 🙏

orangefolly · 21/12/2018 22:30

Oh no @unicorndust17 we're in the same boat. It's nice to have some company! I am a lot less patient too. Struggle not to shout 'oh for god's sake hurry up' when people are saying / doing things slowly. I am normally very chilled! I thought that might be the steroids, they def make me more anxious.

newmumma2019 · 21/12/2018 22:33

Thanks ladies for being so kind. I hope it's dates thing too. I mean it could possibly be if I think about possible conception but I don't know if I'm seeing what I want to. Ah well as I told my family and partner what will be will be and I have few more people to help me hide the drinking from the family. And fingers crossed for the scan in two weeks!

On another note. I love pure lemon juice or PLJ as the bottle is called as a flavour in drinks, tonight I put it in with soda water. So yum and it looked like Prosecco! That's Xmas day sorted!

Thanks again ladies. No matter what the outcome I feel better for all the support xx

UnicornDust17 · 21/12/2018 22:37

@orangefolly Grin that sounds like me....

I also find then blood thinning injection wipes me out for about half an hour after I do it... Confused

Good luck @newmumma2019 I really hope it's positive news at your next scan.

Ninunina · 22/12/2018 05:31

@newmumma2019 I know quite a few people who have been in your situation. A few days can make a big difference with such early scans, and I've had many a friend who have had the anxious two week wait. Most friends were just less further along than they thought. The scan at 5 weeks isn't always so accurate. I had a dating scan once that said I was just over 5 weeks, then at the 12 week scan they brought it forward by almost 2 weeks, so the 5+ weeks should have been 7 + weeks .
Try not to worry too much. There is a good chance that something similar is happening.

Ninunina · 22/12/2018 06:03

@orangefolly what you say makes sense. My consultant must be trying to save the pregnancy from an unnecessary loss. He could see blood outside the uterus and he said this medication might prevent a loss If the fetus is healthy. If it's not then a miscarriage can still occur. I have my next scan on the 27th, so we will wait and see, but I'm starting to feel more pregnant, so I'm crossing my fingers that all is well.

I don't think the progesterone is effecting my temper, but I wonder if the medication has something to do with the extreme tiredness im feeling. I also have two swollen painful glands in my neck. I'm wondering if it's my thyroid or my lymph nodes. I'll ask the doctor on Thursday.

CalmerComber · 22/12/2018 08:00

I found you all! Sorry I don’t have time to read all the way through. Hope we’ve not lost too many and that we’re managing to keep the vom under control. Personal low point this week where I had to leave a meeting at work to go and spew. At least now I’ve finished work until Jan 7th!

Rand my midwife the their day so have my booking in appt on 6th Jan! Feels really real!

RaindropsRoses · 22/12/2018 08:42

Hi all, joining in. I've just seen this thread (there's another one as well). Only 5 weeks here so very early days but had a bit of sickness starting to kick in last few days so that's reassuring. I had a mc with my 1st pregnancy early 2016 so am very anxious, then had my son who is 19m now.

Also very ragey here! No patience at all and I've wanted to throttle dp a few times this week haha.

ScotsBaby2 · 22/12/2018 08:56

@Ninunina extreme tiredness in the first trimester is a very common symptom without meds. I want to nap every day and often feel I can't function on a lot of sleep. Your body is doing lots of growing!

Blueberry2018 · 22/12/2018 10:26

@newmumma2019
I would just hold tight lovely as hard as it is and see what happens, nothing more you can really do. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, thats my motto. Fingers crossed its a dating issue and when you go back there'll be a tiny flickering heartbeat 💗 xxx

UnicornDust17 · 22/12/2018 10:58

Has anyone had cramping stopped?

I haven't had any period type pains or cramping since Wednesday. Not sure if it's because of all the medication or something is up? Confused

Blueberry2018 · 22/12/2018 11:18

@UnicornDust17 how far gone are you? Wk 4-5 i had quite a lot of minor cramping and tummy ache, now im 6+6 and its eased off but nausea has worsened.

OctoberGirl91 · 22/12/2018 11:37

I am 4 weeks going into 5 weeks and I haven't really had any cramping should I be worried? Boobs are slightly tender and my lines on test have progressed nicely for my first faint positive last week Saturday AF was due on Wednesday so only just over 4 weeks after my MC on 4th October I'm just nervous I had a lot of cramping with that pregnancy and not so much anything with this apart from odd twinge xx

ScotsBaby2 · 22/12/2018 11:44

@UnicornDust17 mine only lasted one day. I wouldn't worry. Some people go through their whole pregnancy without any symptoms.

Triskaidekaphilia · 22/12/2018 11:47

Sorry you're having a confusing time @newmumma2019. Hopefully it's just an ovulation dates thing.

@UnicornDust17 my cramping has got less and less often as the weeks have passed. I don't normally get it now except when it turns out tk be trapped wind or constipation Blush
