@Roomarmoset poor Ava. And poor you. That must be draining. Brady has had colic since pretty much the day he was born. He is starting to come out of it now though and was 2 months old yesterday. It’s been really tough so I feel for you. Though I thought that it was something babies got early on and grew out off by the time they are about 4 months. How old is Ava now. I’m suprised she’s just developed it.
@Athers666 your not failing at all. It’s amazing that you’ve even managed to solely breastfeed at all. So many women struggle. But they probably will suggest a formula top up judging by things I’ve read previously. So prepare yourself for it.
Brady had his immunisations yesterday. He was so brave. Only screamed once, cried for about 10 seconds then went back to sleep. But he was very grizzly about 2 hours later for the rest of the day and I had a difficult night with him too. But he’s been much better today. X

Well done Brady for being brave! Casper had his today and was good as well, I thought he'd go nuts but he was fine thank flip!

MagicalCreatures · 08/03/2019 07:47

@Athers666 well done Casper!!! These brave boys 😍 how was he for the rest of the day? Did he struggle come the evening x

Athers666 · 08/03/2019 08:33

@MagicalCreatures he wasn't too bad, had a crying fit at about 9pm but eventually calmed and slept well. How sticky is Calpol? Have got it everywhere😂

Roomarmoset · 08/03/2019 13:09

@MagicalCreatures it's really weird she's been fine and then all of a sudden she went downhill. She's 11 weeks today so I'm hoping it doesn't last long. We've bought some colief which seems to be helping and my mother in law has taken her for a walk today so I've got a couple of hours free, don't know what to do with myself now!

December2018 · 09/03/2019 22:55

Hey lovely's sorry not been on here for a while, I'm also struggling a bit very emotional the last week or so, I feel like Oliver doesn't like me very much, when his daddy comes in the room he's all smiles and then just cries when I've got him
Ohhh well done all these brave babbas getting them nasty immunisations!! They are so brave
And speaking of doctors being poo Oliver has only just got his appointment for his 6 week check up... he will be 12 weeks old when he has it, what is the point in that!
Colic is so bad isn't it! Oliver has had bouts of it now and again 😖

MagicalCreatures · 10/03/2019 09:24

@December2018 oh sweetie. You poor thing. I’m so sorry your feeling like poop. My husband keeps complaining of the same thing. All Brady ever wants is mummy and when he’d hold him all he would do is cry. But that was because he wasn’t making any effort with him or spending any real time with him. I can’t say that’s the same for you because your the one that’s at home with him 24/7.
@Roomarmoset we have been using Dentinox and found that’s really good. Didn’t like infacol though. Haven’t tried colief.
@Athers666 I laughed when you said that about the calpol. My god yes it is sticky. I tried using muslins to wipe his face after and the material was sticking together.

I’m not sure what’s going on with my body at the moment. I was sent for an ultrasound after my 6 week (7 week) checkup. I’ve been having pains in my lower belly and quite abit of discharge (sorry tmi) which the swabs came back clear of infection though.
The ultrasound showed that my uterus still hasn’t shrunk back to size and there is blood and stuff still inside.
Does anyone know what this means?

@December2018 Aw I'm sorry to hear that. I remember the same with my DD. I was convinced she hated me as she would turn away from me but grin at other people! It did pass but I can remember feeling hurt and upset at the time. No idea what caused it, maybe she was just bored with seeing my face all the time. Ollie so loves his mummy really x
@MagicalCreatures Not something I know much about, do you have to go and be seen again at all?
I'm having a bit of discomfort and swelling where I had my episiotomy which is worrying me as it had healed really well. Also I've put weight on as the breastfeeding makes me super hungry. Feeling rubbish about myself at the moment.

raysan1 · 13/03/2019 08:20

@December2018
I'm also emotional due to the crying - these babas are hard, eh? Am gonna tell HV and see what they can suggest. Some days are great and on others, she won't nap and everything changes.
Amber loves her musical bouncy chair, do you have one? And something called a whoozit with a freaky face and squeaky nose. Also likes being outside and the older generation/ different cultures would actually leave the newborns outside, all wrapped up for the cold, maybe for an hour a day! Worth a try?
@magicalcreatures
I also had weird pains and different smell but nurse seems to think it's fine, so i haven't heard of still having an enlarged uterus - lucky there's no infection. Any treatment suggestions yet?

3 month mark coming up... things should be getting better! Any other little ones doing the chewing and drooling of early teething?

December2018 · 13/03/2019 14:50

Hey girls thanks for the kind words, I've had another terrible day again today dr browns bottles keep getting blocked and Oliver screams the house down while I'm trying to unblock the teat, and by the time I've sort of unblocked it he's in that much of a state he won't take it... he's got a MAM bottle and he's taking that perfect, my poor mum has just gone to Asda to get me a few more, I think I'm just going to get rid of the dr browns ones now!
And yeah Oliver has been drooling and chewing his hands or anything he can get hold of haha I think he will have a few little pickle stabbers soon 😍
I love him soooo much but this mum business is so hard!
I had to put Oliver in his pram at 1 this morning and take him for a walk to settle him, as soon as I put him down he cries & cries... bless him!

Athers666 · 13/03/2019 15:07

Got Casper's hospital appointment tomorrow so they can investigate his limited weight gain. So nervous and dreading it!

raysan1 · 13/03/2019 15:37

My tommee tippee never blocks as well but in beginning, dr Brown's did. It was usually cause my mam hadnt pulled the 2 green bits apart to wash. I know that sound of screaming the house down all too well. Occasionally does it on my boob too cause she's got all worked up from getting changed or something.
1am pram seems very sensible actually. No more than 30 minutes, i guess, which is better than escalating it all night.

@athers666, hope they can tell you what's going on with Casper xxx

December2018 · 13/03/2019 16:22

@Athers666 good luck tomorrow, you've got this girl!

December2018 · 13/03/2019 16:26

@raysan1 I take the whole thing apart and soak in miltons sterilising fluid for a couple of hours and double sterilise after so they are squeaky clean no blockages, it turns out that hungry baby formula is too thick to go thru the vent properly lol
Oliver hates tomme tippee bottles for some reason he just won't latch onto the teat
The MAM ones are working a treat so far today so I think I'm just going to stick to them lol
I think tonight to help him settle I'm going to take him for a stroll at about 8:30-9

MagicalCreatures · 13/03/2019 20:14

Oh girls. So many troubles. What’s going on with our December babies.
@December2018 I’ve actually had that happen with the MAM bottles where the tears got blocked. And haven’t realised until after Brady has been sucking for 10 minutes and then starts screaming the place down. He’s on number 2 teats now though and It hasn’t happened since.
@Athers666 good luck tomorrow. It will be fine. As long as he is gaining weight I don’t see the problem. Not everyone is the same size in this world. How many centiles has he actually dropped?
@raysan1 yep Brady has been drooling and chewing his hand off for just over a week but his only 2 months. I think he’s gonna be an early teether. Though my friend who is a health visitor said that chewing their hands can be a development thing.

Well I had doctors again today. Brady now weighs 10lb 10oz and theyre not worried about his weight now as he has continued to gain on the same line as 2 weeks ago. Even though he was born on the 25th centile and is now a smidgen from the 9th.
And I am on 2 lots of strong anti-biotics for suspected retained products so we will see how that goes. I’m surprised they haven’t suggested getting it removed. X

Had Casper's appointment today. He's crossed two lines so they are concerned. We've been given iron and vitamin drops for him. Also he dr wants him to have an echocardiogram to check his heart. We'll get an appointment for that in the post. I ended up in tears which was so embarrassing. But when he started saying about his heart I just felt so frightened. A lovely nurse comforted me. Ughhh, this is so hard x

MagicalCreatures · 14/03/2019 20:20

@Athers666 oh hun that awful. What did they say they were concerned about with his heart?
Yeh the doctor told me that if Brady crossed 2 lines then it would be a concern. Bless little Casper. He must be tiny still.
I’m not surprised that you burst into tears. I would do too x

Anyone's littles started laughing yet?
I feel like Oliver will soon he does these big gummy smiles like lots of noise is going to come out and nothing lol

Athers666 · 16/03/2019 00:24

Yes lol Casper does that too, big smiles and no sound yet! Can't wait to hear his first laugh. Got his echocardiogram on Monday. He made need to be sedated they said. I'm not happy about it and I'm sure I'll end up in tears again.

MagicalCreatures · 16/03/2019 09:17

Brady hasn’t laughed properly yet. He just does these little high pitched squeals and giggles and sounds of delight. It’s sooo cute.
He’s doing lots of other things too now. He’s been copying the faces I pull and having me in stitches. And then coz he knows it makes me laugh, he does it without any prompting. At 4am the other morning he was trying to make me laugh as I was getting him back to sleep and really grinning. I had to keep looking away.
He also puts his fist in the air coz I blow raspberries on it. He loves it. Have your little ones got any cute things they do now?
Also I really recommend something called little baby bum on Netflix. It’s just loads of lovely sung nursery rhymes with bright colours. Brady is obsessed. I can now have a shower with just us in the house because he will watch it for ages. And as I type this he is squealing at it.
Good luck with Casper’s echocardiogram Hun. Sorry your going through this. It’s awful. Will someone be there with you for support x

@Athers666 good luck tomorrow girl... you got this!

And bring on these little laughs!!

December2018 · 17/03/2019 18:26

@MagicalCreatures I'll have a look for that tonight that sounds like a godsend, Oliver hasn't squealed yet either he makes a little noise that sounds like a prolonged cough haha
Brady just sounds like the cutest little guy!

December2018 · 17/03/2019 18:28

Oliver had his first photoshoot today we missed the newborn ones because of my stupid anxiety but I'm much better lately 😊

@December2018 awwww look at Oliver!!!
That hair!!! And he’s wearing braces. Sooo cute. And Thankyou. Brady really is adorable. And strangely, late last night after I said about his squeals, he’s started laughing. There not belly laughs yet, more of a goofy prolonged ‘hmmmmm’ noise but it’s hilarious.
Have you tried that little baby bum yet.

@Athers666 good luck tomorrow. We’re here if you need anything.

How long would you all say you spend interacting with the little one in a day?
I feel guilty for putting Brady in front of the telly. Even though it’s probably only for a max of 1 hour a day that he’s infront of it on average. And that’s just because it gives me chance to get stuff done.
Otherwise his on his playmat or in his bouncy chair.
But I spend as much time as I can a day talking to him and interacting but I worry whether it’s not enough time for his development or if it’s too much time that I need to cut myself some slack. It’s exhausting!!! X

raysan1 · 17/03/2019 23:02

@MagicalCreatures, Amber is not napping in daytime except in pram or car, so i spend a ridiculous amount of time, mostly talking to her, interacting with the baby gym etc... and at the end of the day, realise i have been too distracted, trying to avoid tears, that we haven't had a story/ tummy time/ nappy off time/ bath/ all of above Confused.
Little baby bum sounds like my salvation!!

I believe conversation is the most important... physical stuff can be caught up. Some friends of mine do seem to have a couple of hours in the day for their own stuff like baking or whatever, so i think you are probably at the high end of 'normal ' interaction time.

Amber does laugh. She's 3 months now and been doing it almost 2 weeks, just a little at first. It's only with very close eye contact with me during songs and games (row, row, row your boat). Love that baby so much xxx
