I have been stuck upstairs for 40 minutes trying to birth another poo baby. My youngest two are downstairs watching Milkshake so I only have 25 minutes left. Have drunk over a litre of fluids, 45ml lactulose and 3 prunes...

fee1234 · 05/12/2018 08:52

@Kescilly happy 15 weeks 😊

I've decided to get my hair done next week, feel like I've totally neglected myself for the past 3-4 months and would like to look half decent for my holiday and over Xmas. We've also booked a gender scan while we are in New York! Find out two weeks today.

@toomanyflatwhites good luck at scan!

Curlywurly3 · 05/12/2018 08:55

Looking for your opinions on this...

We're due to go to a wedding in Antigua at the end of Feb but I'm struggling with the whole Zika situation. The government site hasn't been updated since 2016 and when I brought this up with Virgin they sent me a link to say the World Health Organisation have said there hasn't been any confirmed cases since 2016. I understand the risk is incredibly low but there's still a risk.

What are your thoughts?

fee1234 · 05/12/2018 08:59

@Curlywurly3 I think the risk is much lower than a few years ago, I looked into it when I went to Vietnam and Thailand earlier this year (although I realise it's the other side of the world from Antigua). Are you prone to getting bitten? Personally it wouldn't stop me, I'd just make sure I had plenty of high deet on.

Torsz · 05/12/2018 08:59

@Curlywurly3 only you can decide what's right but personally I wouldn't go - we had a similar discussion earlier this year when my family went to the Dominican Republic and we knew it would be a risk if we went whilst trying. It sucks to miss out but for me it wouldn't be worth the risk!

Kescilly · 05/12/2018 09:11

@Curlywurly3 honestly I’m really cautious about these things and I wouldn’t go. The CDC page was updated in August and advises that women who are pregnant should not travel to Antigua.

That being said, I’m risk averse and I could understand why someone else would feel it was an acceptable risk.

@fee1234 ooh I hope it goes well in NY! That’s a good idea to treat yourself to some self-care.

@hexagon01 I think I’m self-conscious because I’m already overweight and worry that it will look like I’ve just gotten fatter. But maternity leggings sound really nice right now!

Napssavelives · 05/12/2018 09:15

Good luck at your scan today @toomanyflatwhites

toasterstrudle · 05/12/2018 09:19

@toomanyflatwhites good luck for your scan!

@Curlywurly3 that's rubbish, if it were me I wouldn't go. I just wouldn't be able to relax at all while I was there. I'm a bit of a worrier though.

@hexagon01 I know what you mean! I had that in my first pregnancy, loved when the news was out and I could just embrace the maternity wear! At the moment I look a bit gaunt zombie thanks to the sickness so quite looking forward to getting out of this stage!

diamondbutterfly · 05/12/2018 09:26

@toomanyflatwhites snap I have my scan today at 10!!

Good luck for yours!

Glad I am working from home today and then last minute packing for our trip to NYC! We fly tomorrow and will be away until Tue without the kids a belated wedding anniversary milestone

Curlywurly3 · 05/12/2018 09:51

Thanks ladies for your responses. The deadline to get a refund is today. DP and I have just been discussing it, he really thinks the risk is so low but also doesn't want me to worry, which I will! I don't think I'll enjoy it :( DP is still going as it's one of his best friends... If he sends me one photo I will block him! 😂

Plus I get £2,000 back! Silver lining and all that...

Also we're going to Iceland on Sunday for DP's birthday so that's nice. @fee1234 you're going soon aren't you?

Good luck with your scans today x

Kescilly · 05/12/2018 10:00

If he's still going then the advice is to use condoms the rest of your pregnancy.

Curlywurly3 · 05/12/2018 10:08

@kescilly I told him that too. I hadn't realised the website had been updated, I must have checked just before August. Time flies!

I think there is a blood test we can pay for privately when he gets back to see if he is sexy time good to go or not! 🙈

fee1234 · 05/12/2018 10:29

@Curlywurly3 yes I'm going to Iceland next Saturday 😊 let me know what it's like! We are planning to go to the blue lagoon, my midwife said it's fine to bathe in just take regular breaks and stuff. We are there for two nights then fly to New York for 5 nights x

Curlywurly3 · 05/12/2018 10:40

@fee1234 oh wow that's amazing!! We are doing the Golden Circle Tour to see the Geysers, Gullfoss Waterfall and where the American andd Eurasion tectonic plates meet. Also booked the Northern Light tour and will be doing the Blue Lagoon:)

I gave DP his present this morning and I have made a big boo boo.

I thought I had booked Sunday to Wednesday but have booked until Thursday 🙈 work won't be impressed with the extra day and I only told them yesterday I'm pregnant! Plus my 12 week scan and bloods (at 13 weeks) is booked for the Thursday morning.

I can pay £220 to change it to the Wednesday but that seems rubbish to pay more for a day less. I'm such a numpty x

Napssavelives · 05/12/2018 10:52

Funny turn T work. Bp a little low at 103/66 , felt dizzy and floaters . Come on break , still not feeling great. Some of it is now made worse as feeling anxious, this vision thing is annoying. May have to start wearing my glasses over contact lenses

KoalasAteMyHomework · 05/12/2018 10:59

Hello all, just found the new thread and been reading through.
Sorry for the absence for a while. Have had awful nausea and exhaustion plus back ache, acne, insomnia etc so just feeling crap! Been busy doing school tours for DS1 as we have to apply for his school for next year. Its likely he won't be able to cope in mainstream so also doing the paperwork for EHC plan etc so pretty full on at the moment.
We have our scan this afternoon. I'm 12+5 so will be interested to see where they date us.

@jacquejacque I'm sorry to respond so late, but am so sorry to hear your news. I can't imagine how devastating it must have been. Hope you're feeling a bit better and enjoyed your wine. Look after yourself x

diamondbutterfly · 05/12/2018 11:36

Had our scan today 13+1 EDD 11 June, 1.7 NT. Pretty positive for our trip to NYC tomorrow!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 05/12/2018 12:18

Just a thought - should be put together a new list with our updated due dates as we all have our 12 week scans?

We can then use it as the first post on any subsequent threads? It's nice to know where everybody is?

R4ch4el · 05/12/2018 13:21

@MadeInCornwallx3 that’s a good idea.

I have my second attempt at 12 week scan tomorrow. Spoke to midwife yesterday evening who said that they will likely refer me to consultant for more regular scans to monitor because of the haemorrhage and because they can see there is still some blood lining the womb. Has anyone else had this? Not sure how common it is, and whether to worry or they are just being over cautious. Think they called it a haematoma.

All these trips people have booked sound amazing, starting to think we need to get something booked in before June and enjoy a final holiday just the two of us.

MadeInCornwallx3 · 05/12/2018 14:00

MadeInCornwallx3 DC 3. Due date 7th June.

MadeInCornwallx3 · 05/12/2018 14:01

Fab - have started it!

As soon as your 12 week scans are done copy and paste - we'll tag it at the top of our new threads.

Exciting!

sk17 · 05/12/2018 14:06

Hi all
Just got round to reading all the lovely messages and it made me so happy ❤️ thank you all so much for the kind words. Just trying to remain positive and will get in touch with my neurologist asap. Just been so busy with in laws and work.

I hope you're all okay and getting through the 1st trimester. Almost at 2nd now 😭 my symptoms have gone down a lot which I'm sooooo grateful for. Took health for granted prior to these 3 awful months 😬
