MrsFish · 26/06/2007 19:03

Just put ds to bd 10 mins ago, and he is fast asleep already mind you he has had no nap today and been at nursery all afternoon

SeamonstEr · 26/06/2007 19:11

i'm doing the old push up with hands to get up, and i'm starting to grab my trouser leg and pulling my foot up to put shoes and socks on.
Turning in bed is becoming awkward, but this is where i get lucky as dp away all week and so i have our bed all to myself
My dad came round two days after dd was born, and as soon as i opened the door he patted my stomach and told me i had a long way to go and kept referring to it all through his visit.

he still keeps on and now is even worse as i'm bigger earlier.
on the lo's front, they are now being relatively lovely so i am counting my blessings. in fact ds1 was reading to ds2 and dd on the sofa earlier, all quiet and the occasional giggle. GORGEOUS.

MrsMar · 26/06/2007 19:22

LOL seamonster at the pulling up your leg by the trouser!! I so do that too! I'm finding it hard to cross my legs too, perhaps I'm just a porker!

I am doing the pushing myself up to stand up trick, I also do the reverse when sitting down, although I do ham it up a bit on the tube when I finally get a seat, just to make all the meanies who don't stand up feel bad. I usually throw in a few huffs and puffs too, and the odd wince

How sweet are your two dss??? Bless, brings a tear to my eye

MmooMar, you are right. I hope you manage to get things sorted before the birth too! I'm currently waging a battle about the colour of the walls. It's a back bedroom, and pretty dark except when it gets a bit of morning sun, so I've asked the painters to do it a lovely pale ish yellow colour. DH thinks that's too girly and the room should be blue. How old fashioned is he?

I've only had one waxing sesh since being pg (told you I was being lax!) and it did hurt, but they always hurt me, I'm a total wimp. I don't have anything too sensitive done, legs and underarms, I think bikini line would finish me off!

I know what you mean about the hair cuts, my hair is growing like a rampant weed! Has anyone noticed any funny changes in their hair. Mine has gone totally straight. It was never really curly, but it had a definite wavyness, but now it's bone straight. My sisters normally brown hair went almost black during pregnancy and another friends hair went straight during pregnacy. In fact her hair stayed that way for about 2 years after each child, and she could never conceive until her hair went curly again, hence a perfect two years between each of her children!!

SeamonstEr · 26/06/2007 19:33

i used to have straight hair until i had a miscarriage, and now it is curly.

dal21 · 26/06/2007 19:33

mrs mars, seamonster - how far along are you both. when does all that heaving up and down start? cannot wait!

SeamonstEr · 26/06/2007 19:36

i have no idea, but i may be early like kinki and hiwbb cos its no4

EdieMcredie · 26/06/2007 20:40

HIWBB-Can't believe your FIL!

Pennypops-Well yes it could be worse but still, heartburn is rank. Stuff from MW is good, I keep a bottle on bedside table...

Cathbell · 26/06/2007 20:45

Hey,

At last a good night's sleep! I think its the 1st time in weeks that I haven't got up in the night for the toilet - had forgotten how sweet unbroken sleep is!

Amyclaramum - feels great to share a due date! I am convinced though that it will be later, although I think thats also blind hope, as our wedding anniversary is 29th August and fingers are firmley crossed hes not early as I've booked a last ditch romantic date in a hotel (ground floor with a very big bath!)

Re heartburn, I've had it continually, and also hate Gaviscon esp aniseed flavour. One midwife gave me Muciogel a while ago though, which while not nice was less pukesome - more like milk of magnesia really. I also have Ranitidine tablets which they have told me not to take all the time but if its really bad - these are great, neutralise stomach acid and last a few hours.

Off to Yorkashire tomorrow (from Glasgow) so wish me luck with the floods!

xx

MrsMar · 26/06/2007 21:54

Dal, I'm 28 weeks tomorrow (weds) but I've been huffing and puffing and (according to my sister) waddling since about 15 weeks I think she's exagerrating!

Take your swimming cossie to Yorkshire Cathbell have a lovely time!

FlossALump · 27/06/2007 08:33

See you are all going wrong with the pushing yourselves out of the chair stuff. I proffer my hand out for DP to houck me up out of the sofa. Much less draining and the least he can do!

Enjoying a morning of peace and quiet before my ante natal class. No boys here! At work and CM's which is lovely.

If anyone is as baffled as I am over slings there has been lots of helpful advice on a thread I started in products!

MrsFish · 27/06/2007 09:29

Morning all

I can still manouvre around ok atm, the sofa is starting to be a chore but it is so low down and squishy, other chairs are ok

Well I am off to Alton Towers in a minute, just waiting for friends to arrive with their lo's, we are going to the Splash Landings hotel with a big indoor swimpool, ideal for toddlers as they have a really shallow play area with slides and such Recommended if anyone is near enough to go... Ooops they are here, see you later

kinki · 27/06/2007 09:48

Morning all, good to see you back Mmoomar. SeamonstEr, I liking your reason why some of us are struggling to get of chairs, not because I'm unfit, big or clumsy - it's because it's my third. I also like Floss's approach of using dh, though that won't work cos dh has enough trouble getting himself out of a chair to do anything, let alone helping me.

SeamonstEr, your dc sound lovely. Wish mine were more like yours! Dses and I were asked out to tea last night and they were so hyper I was nearly in tears by the end of it. They weren't naughty as such just very, very excitable ands hard bloody work.

Congrats on a good night sleep Cath. The little things in life are so priceless now aren't they? Hope you don't get caught up in all the floods or weather. I don't know how those poor people are coping with their flooded homes.

Hopey, yuk at the titty milk comment. Reminds me of a time I was in a restaurant with ds1 when he was tiny. I was cup feeding him expressed bm. I had put the cup down for a while and a man from the next table suddenly reached over, grabbed it and said would I mind if he had some of our milk for his coffee as they'd run out. I was struck dumb, but just in time my brother said no you can't have it, it's my sister's boob milk. The man's face was priceless.

Have fun at splash landings Mrs F. We were there a few months ago, it was great. We got an excellent bargain price from lastminute.com. Would definately do it again.

MrsFish · 27/06/2007 14:02

We're back, had a fab time and a nice lunch, ds is spark out, was asleep within 5 mins of being back in the car and is now snoring on the sofa Hope everyone else has a good day

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/06/2007 16:14

MrsFish, glad you had a good time at Alton Towers. Did you see the funny people on the virtual reality (stage), SO funny watching them all react the same way!!! That was my fave bit.

kinki, well done your brother I say. Mind you, it would have been funny just to see if that man on the other table noticed his coffee tasted a bit different , oooh I am in a wicked mood!!

I braved Ikea in Milton Keynes today. I have to say I walked around in quiet amusement at all the moaning old g*ts having a go at each other and nagging . Seems like Ikea is the place to go if you belong in Eastenders (depressed-enders!!!). Anyhow, the purpose of my trip was to get LOTS of oven dishes, and tuppelware type things so that I can prepare myself lots and lots of 'healthy' meals to de-frost when the baby arrives.

I also went to Mamas & Papas, got some great bargains, sleeping bag £11, pram accessories set incl cosy toes £37.50 and a gorgeous skirt for £17.50 ALL HALF PRICE YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!

Hello everyone and welcome cathbell! It's just taken me an hour to read posts since fri with two 2 1/2 yr olds in the background and now i can't remember what was said so appologies if i get it muddled!

I'm stopping work at 36 wks although may do a couple of days if i feel up to it as the extra money would come in handy(babysitting)

My DP is taking 2 weeks paternity and then has 2 weeks holiday booked so lets just hope i can keep him off the golf course!

It was interesting to hear about you guys at the BBC. I'm a journalism graduate but decided to have children first and career later so my degree is just gathering dust at the moment!

HIWBB - glad the dogs gone! Sounds like you had a hectic weekend?

And all those of you who have issues with builders in the house or the road! sympathy and i hope they get the job done asap!

ccpink · 27/06/2007 17:02

Hi all - like chatty by the time I catch up I forget what's happening with who. I am wondering the same as Kinki and Dal though if I should look at Oct as due 25th Sept!
I had the grossest thing happen last night. Ate my tea - just smallish bowl pasta, felt fine. Just swallowed a mouthful of cordial when all of a sudden puked up everywhere - all over myself. I didn't know what to do. DH was still eating dinner?!? There was no warning at all - almost like a baby if they've had too much but I wasn't even full. So bizarre. I have been feeling really tired so don't know if connected but have been worrying about eating all day. Imagine if I was out! Anyone ever heard of this at this stage?! I thought we were finished with the sickness? I have had a few incidents of sick in mouth - sorry if tmi- but nothing on this grand scale

MrsFish · 27/06/2007 17:07

Not quite the same as you but I was really sick on saturday out of the blue, felt fine at 7pm, then a little tired and sicky then threw up at 8pm, 10.50pm and 2am, felt fine by monday...

ccpink · 27/06/2007 17:10

at least I'm not on my own then mrs fish I'm going to attempt dinner soon and hope I don't explode

TinaLC · 27/06/2007 17:37

Hi Everyone,
Been on holiday too....also in Mallorca Holly which is very weird. Have probably seen you in person and don't even know it! Whilst on hols I was quite glad to be preganant in the summer as summer clothes have to be easier than winter wollies. Have now moved from trying to skim over my bump to acceptance of the fact i have one and going for tighter options....however I honestly did not appreciate it when people said you would get strangers patting your bump. I was in our local pub the other day and someone came up an rubbed it and said "ah it is so neat". My jaw was on the floor...ok there was a small compliment in there but what is the thing with feeling that pregnant womens' bumps are public property!!!

Caught up on all the posts and laughed a lot at dogs/FIL's

I am also due late Sept so only 27 weeks and not going on maternity leave until 16th August which seems ages away.

Feeling pretty ok at the moment but do get leg cramps and I might sound pathetic but not madly keen on whole skin stretching sensation either...makes me feel a bit uncomfortable as is very tight. However if that is the biggest of my worries I am grateful

My Amby's natures nest (hammock thing for baby to sleep in) arrived yesterday. To anyone thinking of getting on - it is great but do not think it is going to be small! The frame is quite big. Have a moses basket as back up in case baby hates it but hope it works as supposed to help with sleeping and can be used as a travel cot too.

Current pre-sleep dilemma is what pram/pushchair to buy. Narrowed it down to Bugaboo (despite them being everyhere in Richmond and requiring a second mortgage), a Quinny Buzz, a M&P pramette, apple Candy...so as you can see not a very short short list and even mumsnet reviews all say different things. Poor DH already bored with conversation despite my best endevours to make him think that it is "kit".

One final question, does anyone know know if the lying on your back is just risky to you (as you might get light headed) or risky to the baby too? I am still doing Pilates at a class and at home and it has some lying on your back. I feel mostly fine when I do it but if it is only about how I feel then I can make that judgement...if it is the baby too then I can't tell and so will need to give it up.

Hello to new people and welcome. i do think this is the funniest and friendliest threat but i might be biased.

Pennypops · 27/06/2007 17:44

Hi all,

Bloody hell I've really had to work properly today so no time to post - pah. Don't my employers realise my MN addicion?

CCpink and Mrsfish - with you on the pukeyness, you are not alone. In addition to heartburn making me chuck I also have the odd random vomity moment in the morning and if I eat more than a little bit in the evening it comes back up. I think its just our stomachs getting squashed

Re the getting up issue - I rock backwards and forwards on the sofa to build up momentum and then get dh to give me a shove! Works for me! MrsMar I also huff and puff a lot on the tube for exactly the same reason!!

MMoomar - welcome back we missed you too

Seamonster your ds's and dd sound adorable - I hope mine turn out as nice!!

dal21 · 27/06/2007 17:49

Hey tina

We are due around the same time and taking ML around the same time too! we can moan to one another about how far away that is!

Just some feedback i had on the candy as was considering it - daisy and toms on the kings road do not recommend it (even though they stock it) - nearly all of their repairs are the candy - they put us right off it! Just thought i would share as was grateful the guy was so honest with mw.

kinki · 27/06/2007 17:57

ccp I had an 'incident' at the weekend when we were eating out - suddenly thought I was going to puke, no warning, it just came up. Something made me keep my mouth closed, so it stayed contained, just. But I was shocked how close I came do letting it all out in public.

MrsFish · 27/06/2007 18:05

It really doesn't help feeling sick, when you have a lo inside you kicking hell for leather does it

ccpink · 27/06/2007 18:08

I know it's awful but I am so much happier knowing we are all pukey. I tried to keep my mouth shut too kinki but was like a hamster with big cheeks and just kept coming!!
I am thinking about a m&p pramette too Tina as have been told they're the lightest. Only worry is that someone said they're not flat for a newborn?! Anyone else got ideas or know more info?!

kinki · 27/06/2007 18:36

Kept my mouth shut (yes, unusual for me), but it did that thing where it went up/down my nose, so I was smelling/tasting/sniffing it for the next hour.
