@BadBadBeans glad ds is ok now. I’m glad you got checked out and hope that’s it for you and ds’s hospital visits for a while

BadBadBeans · 04/12/2018 21:50

@Wineandchoccy thanks - ME TOO!!!!

Angelmiracle · 04/12/2018 22:04

@BadBadBeans it's good you went to hospital though that would be quite worrying. Hope DS continues to improve and things settle down in your life. My iron was 119 at 10+5 MW said that was 'good' I don't think so. I just started some Floradix tablets this week so we'll see.

@Melissa112 I'm used feeling baby's head right at the top of bump but it had moved so when I coughed I thought it was the head I was feeling but like you say it was in middle. Will ask MW on Monday see if we both agree lol. This is my last week phased return so 4 day week. I can't do much more than that. Will use my leave and continue the 4 day week until maternity leave.

I have been trying my best to keep my anxiety at bay and not put so much pressure on myself or over think work things and so far it's working!! I hope it stays that way. How are you feeling recently?

ballanj · 04/12/2018 22:21

@BadBadBeans glad your DS is so much better. I hope you keep well too. I know the feeling about feeling behind on everything. I've not even got the excuse of a hospital stay or have another child to consider. Just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day and feeling more tired with the dark mornings and evenings. Not anywhere near ready for Christmas and just feel like a blimp struggling to do things at a normal pace!

ballanj · 04/12/2018 22:40

Also, I've now outgrown most of my underwear. Recommendations for maternity knickers please people!

Jessclarkky · 05/12/2018 00:00

Hey everyone! I had my 28 week appointment today even though I’m only 27+2 weeks (busy midwife), she said everything seems healthy and I’m measuring 27weeks which is great however, I have put on soooo much weight!! Everyone I talk to says I am tiny for 6 months but I feel massive and have put on 2 stone?! I don’t eat much and am still active most of the time! Why am I gaining so much Blush ? I also have an anti D injection next week, if anyone can tell me what it’s like and whether they had it in their arm or lower back it’d be much appreciated! X

Murphyrocks · 05/12/2018 08:09

@cardboard33 yes I'm pretty it's low salt that's sometimes attributed to cramps not high - I Haverfordwest very low salt diet due to ds but have made an effort to add a little sea salt to my diet and it does seem to have helped. That does also seem like a lot of water, I have drink 2-3 litres which seems like a lot, have you have the diabetes test?

@Wineandchoccy glad to hear ds is onv the mend, how frightening for you particularly in your condition. I'd be in bits!

@Jessclarkky I've got my 28 week appointment this morning and have put on a couple of stone too so will see if she makes comment about it! I had the anti-D last time and from what I remember it was in the arm but feels like forever ago so don't quote me! I don't have to have it this time though as they've checked bubs and he's rhesus negative too, new test since my last pregnancy!

Miami81 · 05/12/2018 08:43

Hi. Thanks for all the info re leg cramps. I've been getting them the last few nights and I am high risk for dvt I was getting really paranoid, although I didn't have any hot areas so was pretty sure not dvt. I am seeing the midwife today and will mention it to her.
I've been signed off work for a few weeks (until Christmas I think) as we are now rapidly approaching the gestation dates in this pregnancy when we lost our dd last year. The anxiety is taking over my life. Baby is being amazing though and keeps reassuring me with her movements. We got a 3D image of her at our appt with consultant yesterday and that was amazing.

cardboard33 · 05/12/2018 08:58

@murphyrocks and @badbadbeans I've always drank a lot of water, then I was put on my epilepsy meds a few years ago which made me drink more (known side effect) and then being pregnant has made me up the fluid intake again. I've had most tests going and no one seems to be concerned, they just all say "you are drinking lots of water!" ... So I'm not too worried about the amount, it's more about whether it's now contributing to the cramps. It's more just annoying as I need the loo constantly. I will start adding "high quality" salt to my diet to see if it makes a difference... My body isn't going to know what hit it!

Also badbeans, sorry to hear about your little one! Sounds like you've had drama in all areas of your life recently.

@ballanj when I did my pgce I couldn't work out how all of the parents coped as I just had myself to worry about and felt like I was falling behind on life admin... It's the same here! But then if we have another then we will also have no choice but to multitask!

All got quite real yesterday as I handed in my mat B1 form at work and provisionally agreed leaving dates. At the moment my thinking is that I want to work as close as I can to my due date but we will see if baby has other ideas. Also agreed one day a week wfh from Jan which will be good. When is everyone else finishing?

cardboard33 · 05/12/2018 09:00

Also Miami... Hopefully this time around is better for your family. It's good you're taking time off work to deal with the anxiety as working through what will be an emotional time will only make it worse for you.

LittleKitty1985 · 05/12/2018 09:13

@cardboard33 I've said I'll try to stay until February half term (2 weeks before due date), but we'll see! My maternity cover starts in January so the last few weeks should be quite chilled actually.

Miami81 · 05/12/2018 09:17

Thanks @cardboard33 just trying to stay in each day as it comes at the moment.
It took me ages to decide about work, I just wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. And then the minute I decided I knew that it was for the best. And work were so good, I've been there 10yrs and they were just so kind when I said that I wasn't coping.
The plan at the moment is to go back for around 5-6 weeks in January. I may use some annual leave to have shorter weeks and really given the amount of appts we are likely to have it may be a bit of a relief to just have a normal day in the office.
I am 25 weeks at the moment. Edd is 15th March but I will be induced at 37 wks so my plan is to officially finish work around 35/36 weeks. Assuming I am coping well and all is good with baby.

WhatALearningCurve · 05/12/2018 09:31

@cardboard33 I'm going on annual leave from the 25th Feb to start mag leave on the 12th March (my due date). Worked annual leave before and after mat leave so I don't have to go back until January 2020 as long as finances allow

ballanj · 05/12/2018 09:53

@cardboard33 I plan on my last day being 1st March. I'm due on the 14th. I'm taking between those dates as annual leave and having my maternity leave officially start on Hulk's due date. It would be my luck I'll go two weeks overdue so trying to delay statutory pay kicking in so I can hopefully reassess when I come back, either December 2019 or January 2020.

Wineandchoccy · 05/12/2018 10:08

@cardboard33 I am finishing on the 15/02/19 and using annual leave until my due date on the 24/02/19 so that I get longer off at the other end.
This was my plan last time but dd decided to arrive early so only had 3 1/2 days of rest before my waters went Shock

Angelmiracle · 05/12/2018 10:22

@Jessclarkky I had anti D in the arm with DS. The needle looked big but had no soreness from it at all. My arm was sore after whooping cough jab and it's much smaller!

Angelmiracle · 05/12/2018 10:29

@Miami81 I am so sorry to hear about your loss last year. I'm glad work have been great and you can take it off at this time ❤

@Murphyrocks they didn't offer that new test here to check if baby is rhesus negative (DS was) and booked in for anti D again Confused

Mat leave starts 25th for me 4 days before EDD. I keep telling everyone this one's coming early. I'll be very fed up if I'm overdue again haha. Would like off til Jan 2020 but who knows might need a full wage again for next Christmas.

OP posts:
Murphyrocks · 05/12/2018 10:33

@Angelmiracle yes I don't think they've rolled out the anti-D test nationally yet, only in some areas. You get jabbed either way though, either for the test or the anti-D itself so not sure it's that much better! Done now though. More bloods today at the 28 week check! Feel like a walking pincushion!

Angelmiracle · 05/12/2018 10:39

@Murphyrocks haha yes that is true!!

We were very quiet in November we usually start a new thread by now. Surely a good sign! Maybe things ramp up a bit as everyone gets into 3rd trimester.

I will be glad to reach 24 weeks on Friday.

OP posts:
Wineandchoccy · 05/12/2018 11:02

@Jessclarkky I am having anti d on Friday. I had it last time the letter says it would be in my arm but the midwife did it in my bum as she said it hurts less and I can’t remember it being painful.

@Angelmiracle only certain hospitals offer the test to check babies blood group at the moment. Mine offer it and baby is positive so will still need it.
I think the end of 2nd trimester is a bit in limbo stage nothing really happens but then all of a sudden you start having appointments and with Christmas as well but once the new year is here it will suddenly be baby time Shock

cardboard33 · 05/12/2018 13:44

Wow, everyone is planning to finish quite early!! My latest due date is 24 March and I've said my last day will be 14 March then I'll use AL for a week to have mat leave start around 20 March. I'm also paranoid about being 2 weeks over due and "wasting" leave, like @ballanj. I'm fortunate that I get very good mat leave (essentially full pay for 9 months before it drops down) and our AL year also runs Feb-Feb so I'll have all of that to use too (we get around 50 days including bank hols and Easter/Christmas closure days) so I might change my mind closer to the time as the idea of finishing full stop is terrifying atm.

@miami81 so glad your work are supportive, makes such a difference. Also have lots of appointments so getting one day out of work each week anyway to keep up with them all. I'm never in!!

melissa112 · 05/12/2018 14:22

@Angelmiracle really glad you are managing to keep the anxiety at bay, and 4 day weeks sound good. I'm doing ok thanks. Even though work is busier than ever I'm just telling myself that I can only do what I can do, and if I can't do it then oh well. Does seem to help!

My due date is 14th March but we're encouraged to take our annual leave before maternity starts. As I'm planning to have 12months off, if I went back in March 2020 with two years of holiday plus two years bank holiday to use they'd really struggle to accommodate almost 3months of leave in the remaining 9months of the year.

So I'm using 23 of my holidays up and carrying over my unused bank hols and extra holiday day over to 2020 meaning I finish on 8th Feb at 35 weeks, with maternity starting on my due date. So quite early but with my anxiety keep getting so bad, I think it will do me good to be away from work for a few weeks before baby comes to get myself together.

Marmite2018 · 05/12/2018 14:52

@LittleKitty1985 you're in the same boat as me! Feb half term finish and my mat cover starting in jan. Heres hoping for an easy ride in Spring 1. I think I'm just going to make it to the end of this half term! 2.5 weeks to go!!!

ballanj · 05/12/2018 15:09

@cardboard33 wow your maternity benefits sound amazing. What I would give for full pay at any time! I only get the bare minimum statutory so it's going to be quite a culture shock next year. But I have every intention of going back to work so I know it won't be forever. Will just have to watch those pennies!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 05/12/2018 17:03

I'm debating whether I'm leaving too early now! I've told work I'm leaving on the 22nd Feb and I'm due 26th march. We do have a family history of early babies though...

Has anyone starting thinking (or decided on) names yet?
I feel like I could have 2379262905739 girls and still be able to name them something I love... boys are a different story. I just find boy names a bit boring!
