Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 21/06/2007 20:32

just found it, thats really close x

myweegirl · 21/06/2007 20:50

bananabump - fingers crossed the money comes through quick for you!

bananabump · 21/06/2007 21:30

Thanks! Just got back from last antenatal appointment which was all about babycare, how to bathe it, how to breastfeed etc All common sense pretty much, but I think the menfolk really learnt something (and asked the midwife an amazing number of questions! All us Mums sat there looking a bit gobsmacked, wondering where all these questions about feeding schedules and meconium came from!)

One lady there was due today so she was absolutely huge and a bit fed up, bless her. Must be an exciting time though, personally I can't help wishing the next few weeks away!

Think we have now decided on the name Elliot, and we are using his dads name as a middle name, it's welsh and a bit unusual so wouldn't want to use it as a first name in case he got picked on at school. Anyone else got names picked out yet?

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 21/06/2007 21:32

glad your class went well B - Cant belive it about your maternity pay, they confirmed mine in 3 weeks and i just have to send the form back when i finish work!

We have the name Tate Picked out! He better look like a Tate as we dont have a back up!

bananabump · 21/06/2007 21:59

Ooh I like Tate, I suggested that to dp but he didn't like it. My favourite was Daniel or James. Dp kept saying he liked Hannibal. I think he was joking....

Washersaurus · 21/06/2007 22:11

Hi all, I found you at last (nearly 200 messages later)!

Tate is a lovely name; DH and I still can't agree. I like the name George but he still keeps suggesting names like Isambard (seriously), Bruno, Barney....and as for girls names, he doesn't like any because they are all too girly apparently.

I have had the appointment date come through to see the consultant about my low lying placenta today...I will be 36 weeks by then. I have started on the raspberry leaf tablets anyway though

Bananabump; I can completely sympathise with your financial situation. DH and I have had court summons each for not paying our council tax . We have been really struggling with DH having to do temp jobs and then starting a new job recently. It is really difficult to catch up with the bills...and I REALLY wanted a Phil and Teds Sport (best not mention it again to DH at the moment though)

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 21/06/2007 22:25

dh name suggestion was errol for long time
when are we meant to start the raspeberry tea ??

Washersaurus · 21/06/2007 22:32

Pinkranger - your DH's Errol suggestion will never be forgotten

I am 34 wks (I think - I honestly can't keep up) and my Raspberry Leaf tablets say anytime after 30wks is fine. I don't even know if I will get my natural birth yet but hey, thought had better prime myself just in case...lol

bananabump · 21/06/2007 22:44

Washersaurus isn't it typical to have so many money problems at a time when you should be able to relax and concentrate on the pregnancy? Hope your finances get sorted out soon too so we can all start to just enjoy the time we have left before all the madness starts!

By the time my money comes through I should be owed about £600. Sounds great but it's already spoken for! lol

Washersaurus · 21/06/2007 22:52

Bananabump - I hope so too... I don't wanna have a prison babba . At least you have some money coming (albeit eventually). The council are usually very understanding if you get in touch with them and explain.

Fortunately DH has been quite good at placating people up until now. The problem is he tends not to mention these problems to me to stop me from worrying, but then I open the post and find a court summons or something equally scary!

I feel really bad for mentioning that we need anything for the new baby at the moment, as I know he is really struggling to hold everything together financially, and I feel guilty I can't help at all. I'm not entitled to claim ANYTHING (except child allowance) of course, boo hiss!

itchyncsratchy · 22/06/2007 07:57

Hi everybody!

wow, what a fast moving thread. I sometimes have a quick look late at night so I have kind of kept up with everyone a bit.
We've been very busy here since the hotel re-opened, seem to lurch from crisis to crisis everyday. Never usually have chance to use computer in day.
Had scan and check up with dr yesterday and it was all a bit overwhelming.
Firstly the DR panicked me by insisting I was 33wks not 31! Even though my blood sugar was fine, I'm gaining weight too fast and retaining too much water so need to cut out sugars/ cut down on bread (carbs?) and sleep and pee more. She warned me sternly that if I didn't radically change my diet she wouldn't be able to sign my 'fit to fly' letter for the airline in 2 weeks. I know she was just trying be super serious but it was all a bit OTT and now dp has taken a hardline on my diet and given all the biscuits to the dogs anmd I feel like I just want to hide in bed!
The scan was lovely, as babe is breech we had perfect view of her face sleeping. I'm trying to work the scanner and post the pic. Also worried that her head is large but legs short for 31 weeks, I wish they didn't tell us this really. And a lot of fluid which may or may not indicate a prob.
We came away a bit unsure and exhausted and me with an achey arm as Dr insisted I had tetnus booster.
I just can't wait to come to Uk, 2 more weeks.

growingbagpuss · 22/06/2007 08:43

Take it easy itchy - I now things are busy for you and your dogs will get very fat on biscuits, but have that PJ day - there are a few of us doing it now!

I've just had a shower, walked upstairs, and now I'm exhausted and out of breath. i can't wait to get rid of this lump congesting my lungs!

I too am losing weight (can't remember who said they had lost weight) but I've lsot about 2 kg in a week. Uh oh.

itchyncsratchy · 22/06/2007 09:53

Hi growingbagpuss, wow I wonder why you're losing so much weight? Maybe a lot of it is water. It's suprising we can manage to gain weight with the exertion of carrying bumps about. Dr said the breathlessness and all should ease a bit when baby in position .. but then will return the back ache. Oh joys!
Two friends have new babies and I'm torn between wanting to swap this bump for a babe and being glad I still have nearly 2 months left before the sleepness nights etc..
Is your babe also breech?
I'm very impressed that you and so many others are so well prepared with hospital bags and baby booty. I often add to my list of things to buy when I check through the thread late at night. But I haven't bought a thing yet, even the baby bed I ordered was cancelled as people say they're too busy to make it!
So planning to shop online and onfoot from moment I land in Edinburgh

growingbagpuss · 22/06/2007 10:01

I don' think the babe is breech - I can feel large bony bottom under my ribs, and little tickly fingers around my bladder!!

I am about to kill my small DS - he has just broken the curtain wire holding the curtains up in front of our makeshift wardrobes. AAAARRRGGGHHH Despite being told numerous times not to do it.

Bag is packed due to last time, when I neeeded stuff for babe when I got admitted to hosp, DH kept going " i don't know where it is". So hot water bottles, and wheat bags for back spasm (which is what landed me in hosp) are all at the ready.

You are flying to the UK - so you'll have to pack your stuff anyway - I wouldn't stress too much. mind you, packing the bag is a good excuse to go all soppy over baby clothes!!

Ceolas · 22/06/2007 10:03

Argh, I can't keep up!

31 weeks today.

Hope everyone is feeling better.

mum2george · 22/06/2007 10:04

B-Elliot is a lovely name. DH wanted to call DS Elliot as we both love the name so much but I had to point out that as our gorgeous cat was already named Elliot it might show a bit of a lack of imagination Would still use it if I could though.

Tate is nice too. DH is stuck on Edson at the mo.

And if its a girl we haven't got much of a clue, so after all the drugs in labour goodness knows what the poor love will end up being named.

growingbagpuss · 22/06/2007 10:11

Edson is an unusual name - but I like it!!

Ours will be Evie (Evelyn) - but if they got the scan wrong and its a boy - who knows!! he'll look v pretty in pink whatever he is called!

tokentotty · 22/06/2007 10:16

Hey there Itchy, Pink, Wash et al, glad you found us !
Sigh...still don't see why your DH would change from Errol Pink, although must admit that Isambard is pretty impressive, although Hannibal's a new one!! We will be sticking with Patrick Henry however...
Oh, seeing Betty today if anyone had any questions they wanted answering ?
Sounds like quite a few of us are having a bit of a rough time in all different ways. Spoke to a sort of cousin the day before yesterday who's due the the same day as me and she's having a bad time too. After having finally go their nursery all plastered and done, new flooring etc they've found that there's asbestos through the house which obviously had to be removed. The insurance company gave them approved builders who started work, only for the insurance company to then say they wouldn't pay as the cost of the claim was too high. They therefore can't continue with any other work until it's all done in case the remedial work wrecks it all, and then, she saw her midwife who said that despite being 33 weeks she was only measuring 27 so she needed to go for a growth scan. Am keeping everything crossed for her.

OP posts:
itchyncsratchy · 22/06/2007 10:25

Hi TT, I've sympathy for your cousin. They can be stressfu; these scans, give you info you can't do anything with except worry.
I love the boys names. Patrick is lovely and Edson, unusual but can still be Ed.and Evie is really cute. I'm trying to convince dp on Isobel, just sounds so pretty and feminine but we're still battling over arabic names. His mum's name was Arafa so I don't mind as a second name but..!

tokentotty · 22/06/2007 10:28

Thanks Itchy. Was wondering, how long are you planning on staying over in Edinburgh after your LO's born ? Just thinking about you getting all your stuff here and then getting it back home again !

OP posts:
itchyncsratchy · 22/06/2007 10:28

Actually TT I keep wondering about arnica, I see it mentioned sometimes tablets or creams... did Betty mention it?

tokentotty · 22/06/2007 10:37

Oh yes, arnica is on the list !! I did try and scan it and post it yesterday but it wouldn't load on to my profile, guess it was too big. Am going to type it on manually later. She put the 30mg ones on the list and said that she'd have the 200mg ones for me if I needed them as they're prescription only.

OP posts:
growingbagpuss · 22/06/2007 10:38

My M/w swore by arnica tablets - said the cream just doesn't cut the mustard - I also had tea tree baths at least twice a day after DS was born - I loved the clean, antiseptic smell and the tingly feeling. as hot as you can get it. i think kiddicare used to do good sized bottles of oil

itchyncsratchy · 22/06/2007 10:53

I'm hoping babe will pop out early and easily! and we can return within a few weeks, birth cert and passport permitting. I've booked both a business and an economy seat, must choose and pay for one by next week..trying to juggle extra costs against combined luggage allowance

itchyncsratchy · 22/06/2007 10:56

what's the arnica for? healing stitched up bits?? oh beejeezuz!!
