Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

sorry- ball bit was for kiteflying!

bananabump · 21/06/2007 10:56

The last baby dream I had was really cool, despite sounding a bit freaky. I imagined that the baby had no amniotic fluid in there (bear with me) and my skin was naturally transparent, so when I pulled up my top I could see him there all snuggled up asleep or wiggling about, like he was shrinkwrapped!

I also had a dream that my ribs were really flexible and he could ush out a single one with his foot, and I could tickle his foot behind it! lol Not a nice thought really though.

bananabump · 21/06/2007 10:59

Christ, MrsBadger that must have been frightening! And they've no idea what caused it? You'll have to seriously look after yourself now and rest loads if you can.

I spent half an hour on the monitor before. It's not fun. And the midwife kept rushing back in the cubicle because dp kept making me laugh and the monitor would go crazy.

Babylovesmuffins · 21/06/2007 10:59

Oh poor Banana. Try not to be too hard on yourself about housework etc. - you're doing something much more important at the moment and the housework can wait.
I hope your MA gets sorted soon - I would keep hassling them on the phone until they sort it for you. Are you able to take payment holidays with any of your bills? I know we looked into it with our mortgage... Sorry to hear your toothache is still really bad too. Would a walk in the fresh air during the day help you to sleep any better at night? Hope you're feeling better soon

bananabump · 21/06/2007 11:02

Thanks muffins, I don't think the companies would give me any more payment breaks, I've done more negotiating than Kofi Annan the past few months (this is all cos I lost my job at the end of march and we've been doing without my income ever since)

Fed up with my tooth, feel like asking dp to knock me out before before bed. It might even knock the offending tooth out, which would be even better! lol

tokentotty · 21/06/2007 11:04

Morning chicks,

Jem - Betty's advice was the 640mg raspberry leaf tablets from Holland and Barrett, daily from 32 weeks. I'll really try and put Betty's list on here over the weekend at the latest. What do you mean about Heathrow and Gatwick?

Aw, poor you, Banana x Sounds like a stressy time. You might need antibiotics for your painful tooth - not sure if you can take them while you're pregnant, but might be worth either going back to the useless dentist and explaining, or seeing your doc. I remember having dreadful toothache - it actually made me cry - and a course of antibiotics were the only thing that sorted it.

Re money worries - I reckon you should give the council a call and ask to speak to someone about postponing your regular payments. Might buy you a bit of breathing space. Am really sorry you're having to think about all these things right now.

Haven't had a chance to catch up with all the posts but hope everyone's feeling fine.

kiteflying · 21/06/2007 11:07

Wow these dreams are amazing - very Tales of the Unexpected. Bananabump, I cannot think what you can do about the maternity allowance hold up but I would make it known that you are facing financial distress as a result of their bungling. It is not right for you to be under so much stress. I feel over my complaining about work related stress.

Poor MrsB. Did they offer any explanation for the bleed? Cervical erosion maybe? Nasty way to spend an afternoon. You have reminded me we must all actually photocopy our hosp. notes. At the moment mine live at work as I am worried about leaving them on a train in a moment of pregnant haze. Mind you, they are pretty empty as I have had two appointments only and no-one has filled in any of my blood results.

Annie75 · 21/06/2007 11:11

to the Badger too. That must've been v scary for you. Glad to hear they don't think there's a problem though. I'd say it's a v good reason to put your feet up and relax. I spent all of yesterday evening watching the BBC period drama North and South on all fours, willing the baby to turn (it's currently breech) and had a v nice time Can highly recommend an evening's slob-out.

jem1969 · 21/06/2007 11:11

thanks tt
going to france this weekend for a wedding so have to deal with airport hassle
mrs badger- sorry to hear about your scare- glad everything OK now- reminds me I should take notes with me this weekend (and from now on I guess)
bananabump- sorry to hear about all the pressures- hope you get it sorted out soon

conkertree · 21/06/2007 11:12

hope things get sorted out quickly bananabump - surely they will put yours to the front of the queue and if they dont - i'd strop until they do.

kitefyling - dh is a youthworker and they have a three year programme of youth exchanges to zambia which he leads. there is basically nobody else who can run the exchnage and it either had to be in late august, or july becuase of the funders. so we decided that at least with late august he'd definately be here for the birth and that was probably more important than missing three weeks later, but the closer it gets, the more we are both wishing it wasnt happening.

i am going to stay at my parents for a week or so, and purplerabbits for the rest of time (as long as she hasnt changed her mind) - could be quite fun as we will have her ds and her new baby around too so might be helpful to her to have an extra pair of hands too.

MrsBadger · 21/06/2007 11:14

They couldn't see any reason for the bleed on the internal (though they did spot I was brewing thrush and gave me pre-emptive Canesten), but it really was just pink, not red, and only that once when I wiped, not dripping in the loo or anything.

Have taken it as a sign to take a day off work and lie around in my pyjamas though - and tomorrow we're going to CenterParcs courtesy of my parents to laze about for a week anyway.

Babylovesmuffins · 21/06/2007 11:16

Oh Mrs B that must have been a bit scary. Glad everything's alright though. I was thinking yesterday I should really start bringing my notes around with me (although I'm so scatty at the moment that I'd probably end up losing them). Have you taken today off work to rest?

bananabump · 21/06/2007 11:21

Cheers guys, when the money finally comes through and I can pay some of the companies snapping at my heels I'll be ridiculously happy!

Dentist did give me a 5 day course of antibiotics which she said "don't take unless you're in pain" (I did point out that I was in pain already but she didn't seem to understand) so I think I'll start taking them now. I didn't know you weren't supposed to take antibiotics while pg?

Annie75 · 21/06/2007 11:25

Hmm, I don't know whether you can or can't take them - might be worth posting on the pregnancy thread for the midwives to advise. But yes, it does sound like you've got a nasty infection. Mine cleared up within a day of taking them (though they always say to finish the course). Also, lying with a hot flannel on your face can help.

Enjoy your pj day, Badger!

mum2george · 21/06/2007 11:37

Babyloves, haven't read Sheila Kitzinger's Pregnancy Book but did try to read Birth Your Way by her, thought it was a load of crap, so don't worry too much about the coconut thing!

Conkertree, had my DS at 38+1 and he was my first so suppose you can never tell!

Bananabump, my advice would be get the form sorted with your MW, hand it in, then get someone on the phone who sounds like they are vaguely competent, take their name, and then just badger them to death! I work in the public sector and I can't believe how crap some of my colleagues are at getting things sorted out for people! Hope it gets sorted soon.

Oh, and I'm on my 4th lot of antibiotics for a chest infection. If you are in doubt about taking them have a chat with your local pharmacist. They have a lovely big book which will tell them if they are recommended or not.

Am off now to get some nice lunch from the village (a real treat to go on my own) and some raspberry leaf tea.

growingbagpuss · 21/06/2007 12:09

Blimey Mrs Badger - some people do go to extremes for a day off - nasty brush with the antenatal ward hey? I had one of them at 23 weeks with DS, scared the life out of me when they said, "aaah 500grams etimated weight, thats good viability" - no way!! I firmly pointed out I was not going into labour. They got shot of me the next day.

Bananabump - you poor thing - get that info on the antibiotics asap, and get yourself on them. max out on paracetamol for a day or too - that's ok for babes.

katybird · 21/06/2007 14:36

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok. Sorry you're not well Mrs b and bananabump, sending hugs to get better soon. Feet up for the pair of you! And enjoy Centerparcs .

I started on a cup of raspberry tea a day at 30 weeks, brewed for 10 minutes. It's not that bad if you don't mind stewed fruit teas! My sil (chiropractor specialising in pregnancy) recommended starting on a cup a day by 38 weeks at latest, working up to 4 cups a day by 39 weeks. And our yoga teacher said to try a cup and see if it has any effect - some women can have Braxton Hicks in response so just see how your body takes to it.

My weird dreams have started again too. Dreamt that I was in labour at the hospital, which was in some huge warehouse, and when I went into second stage they locked me in a garage with a big German Shepherd! Who then turned into an Aussie bloke. Hmm.

Have fun in France Jem!

Ceolas · 21/06/2007 14:40

Found you! (169 posts later)

Sorry to hear about your scare MrsB. Hope it's plain sailing from here on in. CenterParcs can only be a Good Thing.

Phoned for my GTT results this morning. Was told I'd get word in the post within a fortnight (test was 5th June). Everything well within normal limits. So that's another tick in the home birth box

myweegirl · 21/06/2007 15:50

mrs b - sorry to hear about your scare - it's a bit frightening, the symptoms sound very similar to cervical erosion (i had some bleeding - red rather than just pink until about 25 weeks with this pregnancy - didn't have it last time round - and they told me it was due to cervical erosion). did you get to hear baby's heartbeat when you were all hooked up (that helps a wee bit to calm the nerves)? make sure you get plenty of rest.

bananabump - could you get the form stamped by midwife then take it to the maternity allowance people yourself and explain the situation (a lot of running about i know...but might help speed things up?)

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 21/06/2007 15:55

well here your all hiding! -Mrs B - how horrible for you, not long to go now is there, we are nearly in july!

I have started packing my Hosptial bag today, want homebirth but have lots of nights away planned and a holiday week after next so thinking that best to be preparred!

I have a Big wedding tomorrow, im bridesmaid, dh is usher and ds is pageboy so have just been so busy, had my nails done and a spray tan today so really good about6 it all! Off the the Zoo tomorrow to do a safari with all the bridesmaid and the mums so that so be fun ( and i dont have to walk anywhere!! )

Hope eveyone else is well!

bananabump · 21/06/2007 17:22

Myweegirl, that's exactly what I just did Went to midwife, she had no stamp, but she was lovely and wrote on it that any problems to contact her directly to sort them out. Then took the paperwork to the jobcentre and explained the situation. Hopefully that should be the last of the glitches sorted out, and the money should be through v soon!!

growingbagpuss · 21/06/2007 19:13

Pink - i have a hospital bag packed too - going to mums for a few days so need to be prepared, and after last time, when DH couldn't find anything for LO it seems easier to have it all in one place!!

growingbagpuss · 21/06/2007 19:23

Pink - just spotted you on a different thread.... you're a childminder?

At some point I will be looking to transfer both DS and LO out of Nursery care (Ds goes to Hemsley house) to a local childminder.... not for a while obviously!!..... are you planning on continuing to work once LO arrives? looking at the childminding thread it appears you are v close to me!!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 21/06/2007 20:31

i thought the same bagpuss - that way when im ( hopefully ) at home it will all be in one place for him to find - He used to be good a finding things indoors but he dont have a clue anymore!

With regards to Childminding def going back to it! I have looked after my neices on and off for years so decied this year to get registered! I have only one at the moment ( age 6) and do the school drops and pick with her but wll be looking after her again 2 weeks into sept, makes sense as i take my little boy to and from school then aswell!
