Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

sorry

Babylovesmuffins · 04/07/2007 10:11

Mmmm.. McDonald's! I have a nice fruit salad in the fridge. Pears and strawberries are really nice... much nicer than chocolate cake... no really...

growingbagpuss · 04/07/2007 10:15

LOL at spider!! you soooo have too much time on your hands!!

Flabby fanjo.. that's the porno flaps i was referring to earlier in the thread - not sure which term I prefer ? There is a tentative suggestion that it all goes back after the baby is born - but judging by the fact that those of us complaining of it are 2nd (or more) timers.... it clearly gets worse each time!! I definately find that my support tights hold it all up a bit!! Don't advise that for you though itchy... way too warm where you are!! Mind you , you might need them in Scotland

Hersetta · 04/07/2007 10:16

To be honest itchy I think it rather put us off them - someone (my DH in fact) had to lay of the floor and we all put yellow stickies over the part of his body that had things done to them in preparation for surgery - they were everywhere! They people had to stand around him to represent the number of people in an operating theatre - there were at least 9 people in a small room. The small space you have and all the stuff on your arms and chest make skin to skin contact quite difficult afterwards. I think we decided that obviously if you had to have an emergency c-section that's one thing but we'd rather face labour than have an elective.

Taking of madonalds - went to the theatre last week with a friend and on the way home she had to drag me out of going into macdonalds to get a mcflurry at 10.45 at night !! Just really fancied one - mind you ice cream if the only thing I have had a real craving for during this pregancy.

growingbagpuss · 04/07/2007 10:16

I have strawberries too...... and a big tub of yummy icecream.... I maintain I need to eat as much junk as possible, to boost my weight so it doesn't drop off too fast - we'll all need the extra energy for b/f anyway.

Annie75 · 04/07/2007 10:17

Thanks for the breech link, Mum2George Off swimming lunchtime to see if that helps (trying everything!).

Sorry to hear about sleep probs and serious rib-kicking. I guess the one positive of a breech baby is that the pressure isn't on the bladder so am not needing to get up in the night. Having said that, I can't seem to eat much without throwing up because of squishing on my stomach and I'm as hungry as ever

How nice that some of you can meet up - have you arranged the Bluewater Retail Therapy Meet?! You must post some pics for the rest of us.

growingbagpuss · 04/07/2007 10:19

TT - i think the later meet up might be a good idea - then at least you won't feel pressured to buy things in the company of RL people you've never met before (did that make ANY sense?).

Blimey -we'll be posting pictures of "group Bumps!!"

Washersaurus · 04/07/2007 10:36

Hi everyone, it has taken me AGES to catch up on reading all the posts!

Shame I'm no where near Bluewater for the shopping expedition - could do with a bit of retail therapy

My belly button is also now flat - it never popped out with last pregnancy so I'm hoping it won't this time either as I can't stand it being touched or rubbed by the fabric on my clothes etc

I had a consultant appt about my low lying placenta yesterday; 'twas bit of a waste of time TBH they couldn't work out why I was there! The consultant didn't think it was a problem for me to have proper birth but I have another scan booked for Friday morning.

Baby measured up at around 7lbs yesterday and I have 4 weeks to go! I was hoping for a smaller baby this time too . Does anyone know roughly how much weight the baby is supposed to gain each week at this stage?

DS is at nursery today so I am off to sort out some more baby bits in preparation. We have been trying to squeeze all the baby stuff into DS' room as they will be sharing eventually (easier said than done I can tell you, as DS has sooooo many toys)

Babylovesmuffins · 04/07/2007 10:37

Yes I am a bit bored today GrowingBagpuss!!

Annie, apparently you can try somersaults in the pool to see if that helps the baby turn!!I also read that you should swim in an "abdomen-forward" position if your baby is breech - wasn't sure what that meant??!! Think it rules out backstroke possibly !!

Oh, just remembered something else for our hospital bags ladies. One of my friends who gave birth recently highly recommended using wet wipes or similar for wiping yourself after going to the loo, as hospital toilet roll is not the best after giving birth. I've packed some Wet Wipes and gentle baby wipes just in case - those of you who've done it before might know if wipes would sting or not??!

GillL · 04/07/2007 10:49

mmmmm, strawberries!

Morning all. I had a better night's sleep last night. I didn't wake up til 3am. Dd was up at 6 but that's not too bad. At least I still got to go back to bed for an hour before getting up for work. Very jealous of your 9 hours sleep itchy.

TT and growingbagpuss - good plan re: shopping. If you're ok about making a second trip to Bluewater, how about Wednesday 18th? Is it just the three of us?

mum2george - I'm being seen about every 2 weeks at the moment because I'm considered high risk having an underactive thyroid. Otherwise I think it would be once a month. I think from 38 weeks you see the mw weekly until you deliver.

Annie75 · 04/07/2007 10:58

Ooh, 7lb, Washersaurus? That's sooo exciting to think it's a proper baby size now. I forgot to ask at my scan how heavy they thought it was. Did I say the sonographer said it had a good head of hair?! Had a dream it did several nights before

Yep, am planning on trying the somersaults, Muffins - though I might not be able to get back to the surface!

Anyone know where I can buy an organic mattress for a Moses basket online? I've seen some, but they're so bloody expensive! Under £40 would be good as I'm borrowing the basket in the first place!

myweegirl · 04/07/2007 11:00

washersaurus - think it's rougly 1/2lb a week from now on..that will just be an average though.

i took extra soft tissues with me last time - then onto babywipes - sensitive. i had an episotomy and tears and the wipes didn't sting.

the main thing i found is to drink plenty and not let your urine get to concentrated so that it stings when peeing - remember and pour over yourself the first few times. the hospital had a jug in the toilet for this purpose but i took in plastic cups of water as i didn't know how clean the jug was...

ps i'm bored too - but i really must get on with some work otherwise next week which is my last week will be so hectic.

decided that i'm going to nip out and get a mcdonalds for my lunch...

itchyncsratchy · 04/07/2007 11:01

Oh gawd, I'm slavvering at thought of Burger King double whopper! I'm generally very healthy eater but for some reason always have a burger first thing when I touch down in UK. I'd also love either several custard tarts (Greggs baker or preferably portuguese style) or if up north Yorkshire Curds. MMMmm

Washersaurus · 04/07/2007 11:13

Wow so this baby will be about the same weight as DS was then...oh well, the birth wasn't too bad I suppose .

I had an episiotomy last time and would heartily recommend some soft tissues and also pouring water on yourself when going to the loo. I didn't brave baby wipes though as I was almost to frightened to touch myself 'down there' with anything at all!

I had a sneaky Mcdonalds milkshake the other day...I just couldn't resist

myweegirl · 04/07/2007 11:20

this is obviously my cravings starting - i really don't know the last time i had a burger nevermind a mcdonalds . last pregancy my cravings were for apples and apple juice - so much healthier!

Mrsshuvel · 04/07/2007 11:23

Ohhhh i've missed you all. Haven't managed to get on here for ages. Been training my maternity cover who i'm sure is convinced she has now got my job for good! Cheeky mare!

9 hours sleep! I'm so What i wouldn't give for a few hours sleep. I have all intentions of nesting and think of all these good ideas of things that need to be done but by the time i get home from work or the weekend arrives i'm so knacked i can just about roll off the bed to get to the loo let alone anything else.

Although, i think i am officially in the 'gagging for it' stage. DP won't come anywhere near me though. Says it's too weird now we can see the belly moving around. Not sure i would actually have the energy anyway.

Ahh bless the spider Banana.

Baby is definitely not breech and know exactly what you mean with the rib pain TT. Takes my breath away sometimes.

I'm up for a Bluewater meet - let me know when. Finish work on the 20th but have a few days off before that i can swap around.

bananabump · 04/07/2007 11:34

Morning all!

LOL babylovesmuffins, thanks for the pic of my poor lemon spider, good to know he's ok.

Not sure I'll be so whizzy today, I'm feeling really stiff and achy, my spd was terrible in the night, I went to turn over and there was an enormous "clunk" that came from either my hips or pelvis, and yes it hurt (I yelped) but actually seemed to relieve some of the more acute pain.

Felt a bit sorry for myself, dp murmured something about "nevermind, only 30 days left" and drifted back to sleep, leaving me there thinking about all the things I need to do before the house is Mother-in-law worthy. So I'd better not be nesting as THIS BABY CANNOT COME EARLY, I have far too much to do!

loler · 04/07/2007 11:46

This is my first time on for about 3 weeks - absolutely no chance of catching up on all the messages! Someone needs to do a weekly summary of all amusing important things not to be missed!

Well, we finally moved house, didn't the keys until after 4 even though money left our account at 11 (money was lost in the air somewhere - don't start me on solicitors again!!). Still got boxes everywhere and have been doing DIY until midnight most nights (no chance of doing it with 2 little helpers in the day!). Baby finally has a room (just needs to kick it's big brother out of it's cot!).

Week in Cornwall was fantastic - only had 2 days of rain - really sunny rest of the week (had a panic that we would need an arc to get home). Went away with a group of friends, 9 kids under 5 - sounds hell but worked really well as kids entertained them selves on the beach all day. We did manage to clear a wide area of beach around us though!

DD had a practice visit to school yesterday - 4 hours to myself! The PG hormones are really kicking in and was in floods for most of the time she was there! Also had major blub the day we moved - (not over the ruddy solicitors!) got very emotional about leaving the house we brought our babies home to. Seems to be any reason for a cry at the moment!

Back to catching up with work emails (yuck!) hope everyone well. X

bananabump · 04/07/2007 11:49

Ooh MrsShuvel, lucky you to be gagging for it, I have been all throughout but now it's so impossible, I feel like an enormous achy whale. But if I don't make the effort now, I feel like we won't have sex til christmas. Poor dp.

Continuing the TMI theme, I haven't noticed any difference down below, but to be honest I'm past examining my body for "changes", I'm still smarting over my new stretchmarks, fluffy belly, various new veins on my legs, and altogether different boobs.

When my sister was pregnant she got some brown pigmentation on her face, which looked like she hadn't blended her foundation in at her jawline! And my sil got pigmentation which looked like pale brown lipliner round her mouth. Luckily I haven't got that. Has anyone else noticed anything like that?

Pregnancy is a very strange process.

growingbagpuss · 04/07/2007 11:53

Mrs S -forgot you are another kentish lady..marvellous - just waiting on TT really - GillL finishes on 12th July (hope thats right) and I'm basically free tues weds and fri.

Have just posted an item on ebay (realised this message may get bumped becuase of saying this). huge load of baby boy clothes (this LO had better really be a girl, or i'll want them back)...n/b and 0-3 months.....

they belonged jointly to my friend and I, so we are splitting the money - but I'm sure we can organise a discount if they go to an august babe!!

SweetyDarling · 04/07/2007 11:59

Hi Everyone,
Haven't posted for ages, but have been popping in to try and stay up-to-date.
My belly button hasn't popped yet, but is very shallow now - then again I'm one of the last on teh stats list, so most of you are ahead of me.
Have a growth scan tomorrow to make sure my little man isn't too little - I have restricted flow through the uterine arteries, so need to make sure he's growing properly. Fingers crossed! I think my belly is growing at the right rate, so am not really worried. More concerned they will tell me that I'm actually having a Kangaroo - quite the kicker this one! I'm actually wondering what the whole "frantic" kicking thing means, as little skippy here is pretty energetic! Do pre-birth activity levels reflect post-birth behaviour??
I had my 30th Birthday Party on the weekend, which was fun, although was meant to be a picnic! Had a carpet picnic instead and then went to the pub - so nice that it wasn't smokey!!
BTW if anyone is in London and has been craving a cocktail I have discovered a gem - the barman at Lucianos (St James) is the master of the mocktail - made me the most glorious virgin mojito which I had been hanging for. Def worth a visit if you need a fix!

Mrsshuvel · 04/07/2007 11:59

Sounds like you had a lovely time in Cornwall Loler. Glad you managed to avoid the rain. Don't you having all those boxes to unpack. Hope your energy levels are better than mine.

Seeing as we're going with TMI at the mo.... i thought my monster flaps were to do with DP denying me at the mo. Told him it was kinda like when men don't get any and their bits swell . Haven't had any pigmentation that i've noticed although didn't think i had many stretch marks until DP took a photo of the bump and i actually saw underneath it for the first time in months. Immediately burst into tears.

growingbagpuss · 04/07/2007 12:08

Mrs S - having had my appendix out (which is a definate sex stopper), and then varicose veins from hell, porno flaps really are the last straw... and I'm amazed my DH hasn't found someone else!

Mind you, me moaning about how much everything hurts probably puts him off... I'm certainly up for it.. but by the time I see him, and we both get into bed, I've fallen asleep!!

I've got quite a brown freckly face, and certianly more than usual - and my nails are lovely, and my hair is thick and growing at a rate of knots... mind you - quite a lot fell out after DS, so maybe it's just getting prepared!!
