Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

Itchy, what a fabulous story! Is your friend going to continue with BF her daughter though, or is just a non-starter?

Bluewater girls, I am pretty sure it is Bluewater centre that have special little mobility thingummyjigs for pregnant women to buzz about in if you get tired!

TT, I am glad I am not the only one that gets soppy over the moving feast!

I am off to try and get some things done before this working day ends. Have a good night everyone.

Hersetta · 03/07/2007 16:02

oops sorry itchy !!

bagpuss - euwwwwww. Can you see definite body parts in your bump. I had a odd shadded lump in my bump last night and judging from how she is lying I think it was her bum sticking out. I few firm rubs and she shifted and lump went away. Couldn't see anything though - tummy has too much of a fat layer.

Lizzie, I hope they do teach us - we were asked during the first session want we wanted to cover and everyone said the practical things for looking after baby. I know one whole 2 hour session is going to be on breastfeeding so I assume one session will be on all the other stuff (I hope!).

GillL · 03/07/2007 16:26

TT and growingbagpuss - the wedding is on the 4th August. Probably best to go when you're child free. I'll be leaving dd at my mum's as she always gets really fed up when we go shopping. I'm available any day from 16th July, if you can wait that long. I normally can't wait when I've got money to spend - especially on babies!

My belly button is almost flat. It's quite sensitive to touch though where the skin has stretched so much.

growingbagpuss · 03/07/2007 16:43

No - don't worry I can't actually SEE body parts, just feel a large fat backside sticking out, and feet digging into ribs and stuff. She still twiddles her fingers against my bladder, so i am reassured she's the right way down.

GillL - I can wait another 2 weeks - not sure if the LO will?!! TT did you have a time frame in mind for your shopping expedition? Are you gettting itchy feet to get it over and done? Not sure I can do much walking - may need one of those invalid vehicles (thanks Kite!) -but waddling between coffee shops sounds good!

bananabump · 03/07/2007 18:42

Ohhh just got back from shopping and feel like I've run a marathon, I'm absolutely knackered. How on earth are some of you still working???

I had a good haul, got almost everything we need for the bathroom: I bought "lemon sorbet" bathroom emulsion, a beautiful colourful gerbera print to go in there and a nice pine toilet seat to replace the hideous silver painted (why??) one that was here when we got here.

Also some frosted window film for the (downstairs) bathroom window for privacy and light as the vertical blinds make it quite dark. It's going to look soooo much better, just need a new shower curtain and a shelf putting up and it'll look like a REAL bathroom instead of a student one!

Excited now...but too tired to actually do any painting lol

Zzzzzzzzz.....

mum2george · 03/07/2007 19:23

Kite, am very over your hugabub, really wanted one but DH seems to think I'm not capable of tying it correctly so have gone for the So Close instead.

Bananabump, you are def nesting honey, how much longer have you got to go before your due date? And can you pass some of those nesting vibes onto me please?

Hersetta, half a pound a week, really? OMG! My scan last Friday guestimated the baby's weight at 7lb 2oz and there is 4 weeks and 1 day to go! HELP!

& hope you get to cover the stuff you want to in your NCT class tonight. We never took any classes the first time as I was too ill and they didn't show me how to bath a baby in hospital either. Think they were a bit busy and it just got missed. Didn't worry me though, well not too much anyway. DS had really dry skin so we just washed him with warm water and cotton wool for a few weeks, then my mum came down and did a demo.

Have been to see the MW today and everything is fine. She wants to see me again in 2 weeks, thought you got seen every week at this stage. How often is everybody else being seen?

growingbagpuss · 03/07/2007 19:41

I'm seeing M/w this week - 1st tme for a month! I think once yove done it once or more they relax a bit.. unless your are v high risk. I'd quite like to see mine a bit more.. just for reassurance really- -I'll be 35 + 3 by the time I see her on thurs.... gosh doesn't time fly when you're having funbeing pregnant hey?!

bananabump · 03/07/2007 22:38

Dp just accused me of nesting too. I decided I did have the energy to do some painting- just thought I'd do some cutting in round the tiles and pipes and things, but before I knew it I'd painted it all with a little paintbrush. (I may regret that tomorrow)

Needs another coat but I'll do that with a roller tomorrow. Looks a little strange right now, lemon sorbet with apple-mint peeking through.

I have a sad story too: I accidentally painted a spider. You can't wash spiders, did you know that? I thought maybe I could rinse it with a drip of water and washed it down the drain.

tokentotty · 03/07/2007 22:49

Oh Banana......that's very sweet that you tried to wash the spider.... Can you see now that it was perhaps never going to work out so well love ?
anyway, BEDTIME !! You've done far too much this evening so get some rest ok. Am just putting myself to bed in advance of DH, aka 'the most drunk man in the world' getting home in a while. Unfortunately he will be wearing this mantle every night this week as he's seeing clients. He managed a lunch today (all day until he met his evening lot!) as well and think Friday's the same. Nice for me on my first week home alone!
Right, hot chocolate's getting cold. Night all !

Yeah maybe it wasn't the best plan on earth, to be fair.

mum2george · 04/07/2007 07:52

Annie, TT and all the other breeches, have you seen this thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1365&threadid=350090&stamp=070703222016

Oh, and Morning everyone

tokentotty · 04/07/2007 08:02

morning Mum2George, have to say, the one thing I'm not at the moment is breech. I know this from the very broken feeling ribs I have following Peanut's virtuoso stamping skills.... Am actually in really bad pain with it. Have been for a few days. Unable now to lie on my left side as it leaves me unable to move, breathe deeply, cough etc without screaming out in pain . Not sure there's anything at all I can do about it either.

OP posts:
growingbagpuss · 04/07/2007 08:17

TT - that's a very naughty baby you have - mine has kept me awake half the night pushing stomach acid up my oesophagus - the combination of kicks and acid have made me feel really quite sick. I've had my second breakfast now, droped DS at nursery, and then I'm going back for a snooze...I often find the aches don't seem so bad when you have a nap - maybe because at night we are so desparate to sleep, everything seems much worse (not helped by DP's either!)

Banaabump - your painting antics made me LOL, poor spider - good job it didn't dry there.. people would have wondered if he was part of the decor!!

tokentotty · 04/07/2007 08:40

Euuwwww Growing, I know exactly what you mean. Although I do seem to sleep through the worst of it if I go to bed with it and then it is normally gone when I wake up. It's through the day that does me in. Often feel like I'm actually going to be sick. Still, have this bl**dy rib pain to take my mind of it at the moment !!
So, have we picked a Bluewater day ?? What I might do is head either there or Lakeside sooner to get the bulk of the stuff and then get the rest when we go out altogether. Otherwise I'll be so busy shopping I won't have time to meet you all properly !!!

OP posts:
itchyncsratchy · 04/07/2007 08:45

good morning, I have an announcement -
I slept for 9 hours, only waking for half hour once, and I feel like a new person!!
mum2george- thanks for the link
TT- poor you, that sounds miserable. Will any kind of yoga stretches or maybe swimming help?
Growingbagpuss - heve a nice nap
and I hope bananabump is taking it easy today! I'm sure the spider survived, somewhere a lemon sorbet daubed spider is drying out...

tokentotty · 04/07/2007 08:50

Oh Itchy that's great news !! God you must be feeling absolutely tippy toppy after all those bad nights previously. Make sure you don't spoil it by doing too much though and wearing yourself out ok? You'll waste all those great feelings of wellbeing.
That's not a bad idea about looking for some yoga stretches etc. Did get a book out of the library ages ago that I've not read so I'll have a hunt through that I think. Can't keep on like this as it definitely seems to be getting worse and not better.

Babylovesmuffins · 04/07/2007 09:22

Morning all! 2-and-a-half weeks left at work!! It doesn't seem like such an eternity anymore either... I think the end may be in sight. My director is away today so I should get more time on MN

Banana you are SO nesting at the moment hon! Hope that happens to me. DH came home and told me about one of his clients who totally cleaned the house from top to bottom and ironed "every single item of clothing in the house" when she went on maternity leave. Got a bit annoyed - I think he's expecting the same of me now!! Looking forward to doing a blitz on cooking and baking and packing the freezer full of food like you have.

My belly-button is also totally stretched which is just bizarre as I've always had a very small "inny" belly-button. I noticed in the shower this morning that some of my other bits "down below" also seem to have stretched a bit - anyone else noticed this?? Must say it's extremely difficult for me to see down there at the moment but I suppose it's just my body preparing???

Itchy, the thought of 9 hours sleep sounds like bliss. I slept great between 11 and 3.30 this morning but struggled to get back to sleep after my toilet trip. Glad you're feeling tip-top - should put you in good shape for your flight across.

I'm seeing the m/w every 2 weeks now, so will see her next week at 34 weeks. I still have no idea what way the baby is lying as they never seem very concerned about it. When I saw the m/w last week she said they wouldn't really bother about the baby's position until 36 weeks. I'm getting lots of wriggling movement (painful) in my right side which feels very bruised (think litle bean has been partying all night) but unlike you TT I've not felt kicks to my ribs yet.

I've still not heard back about my blood and urine tests from last week either - they took more blood as I'd had a higher level of glucose in my urine and my previous bloods. Do you think they would have got in touch if there was a problem?? Hope your tests went ok MyWeeGirl - like you my veins always "hide" when the needle comes out and I end up leaving the doctors surgery looking like a junkie!!

Hey - do you think those of us outside London could watch your RL meet-up at Bluewater by web-cam??!!

Sorry that was a long post.

Hersetta · 04/07/2007 09:24

OOh itchy - 9 hours. I am jealous! Hope you maintain that lovely restedfeeling.

Baby Banana - don't you be doing too much young lady - stern finger wagging from Hersetta.

Last nights NCT class was on c-sections and what whould happen if we had to have one. Next weeks's is on pain relief. Got an stat from the trainer last night about our local hospital (not where we are going thank God) that their c-section rate goes down from 23% to 15% in August for the simple reason that the Anaesthesiologists are away on holiday that month. WTF !!!!

Sorry madam you can't have an epidural as we have no nnaesthesiologists to give you one !!!!!!

Cue lots of shocked looks from the ladies that are going to that hospital.

Hersetta · 04/07/2007 09:27

Sorry that should be Bad banana - obviously got baby on the brain!

myweegirl · 04/07/2007 09:49

9 HOURS - i remember the days! i only needed to get up once to pee last night (normally it's about 6 times) but i was awake for hours just lying there - DD kindly got up at 5.15 this morning .

lol at poor insey winsey lemon sorbed spider

blmuffins - i was told they'd phone me today with my results (that's cause i'm 35 weeks and if there is a problem then i'd need to be seen by consultant asap). I'm sure if there was anything showing up with you'd they would have been in touch by now - but you could always give them a quick phone? think if there's nothing wrong they tend to post out the results...

my next few appointments (providing all ok today) are 36wks with midwife, 38 with gp and 40weeks with midwife.

Babylovesmuffins · 04/07/2007 09:53

My appointments are the same I think Myweegirl - after my 34 week appointment I'll be seen every 2 weeks. I should really phone about my blood test results but I'm just burying my head in the sand and hoping that no news is good news (and trying to cut down on the chocolate cake )

itchyncsratchy · 04/07/2007 09:54

Hi,
today I'm at home making sure all the accounts/paperwork etc upto date before I leave. So lying on the couch with lots of cushions and laptop. loving this rested feeling and realising I've been so horrible to dp this past week!! Poor him, oh well got to take the rough with the smooth eh?

Hersetta- did the c-section class give you confidence that it doesn't have to spell disaster? I had dinner last night with friend who had elective c-section 4 weeks ago, she said it was great. Only painful/ uncomfortable for first 3/4 days but she blames herself for not taking all the pain med offered.

Babyloves- my bellybuttons totally out n overstretched, protuding through clothes. All growth seems to emenate from the center, skin's very thinly stretched. Eugh and if that wasn't TMI I have definitely got the 'flabby fanjo' if that's an MN term! It's ridiculous, first noticed around 20 weeks and it's only got worse.. and if that's not bad enough sweaty breasts! I feel like I should start using talc!

Babylovesmuffins · 04/07/2007 09:57

Banana, I have some good news for you... your little yellow spider is ok here

Babylovesmuffins · 04/07/2007 10:00

flabby fanjo is a very appropriate term Itchy!!

myweegirl · 04/07/2007 10:02

chocolate cake, crisps, chocolate, smoothies etc etc - why is it when you know you shouldn't have something you crave it even more . i absolutely hate mcdonalds but i can't get it out of my head that i want a cheeseburger from there!
