Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bananabump · 29/06/2007 12:03

Littleyawner, I seem to get spd and general hip/pelvic pain. I think the main difference is that with spd, you can feel it right behind your "bits" and it hurts to open your legs, or to raise one leg on its own say to go upstairs or step into the car/bath etc.

Makes me hobble like an old woman when it's bad! I can't wait til I've had him, some people say it miraculously goes straight away.

Hersetta · 29/06/2007 12:14

Birthday wishes for yesterday BLM - sorry I didn't realize it was your's as well.

I am at work for 6 more weeks and it's more uncomfy by the day. Baby is still on a really active phase at the moment and is kicking and punching me constantly. Sleeping is a problem (not because I'm uncomfortable really) I just don't seem to beable to sleep for more than about 90 mins without waking up or needing a wee. Baby then wakes up and well and starts kicking me as well. I full nights sleep is a dim and distant memory.

Good news is though someone finally gave up their seat for me on the tube this morning - first time as well!. very nice young girl of about 21 who saw my baby on board badge and lept up straightaway.

Bad news is I have tickets for no 1 court at Wimbledon tomorrow and it is likely to piss down all day. Have heard that if you even get 5 mins play your tickets are non refundable. COuld be an expensive day !

Babylovesmuffins · 29/06/2007 12:39

Itchy I probably should walk about a bit more - I'm kind of desk-bound all day which isn't great. I keep offering to make my colleagues teas and coffees so that I can get a walk to the kitchen every so often!!

My m/w told me there was absolutely nothing I could do to make the baby turn - he/she would come when ready and would turn when ready!! I asked her about sitting at a desk a lot of the time, as I'd read that this was bad for the baby and could be the cause of breech babies - again she said it wasn't proven and that new studies had been carried out in NZ that showed there were not real causes. My m/w's have been very calm and relaxed about the baby's position the whole way through the pregnancy - I don't think they'll start to worry until about 36 weeks...

My bump also goes hard quite a lot. I thought maybe it was wind but I think it may be practice contractions?? Like you Itchy I'm used to being quite slim and I can't see how this bump is going to stretch any further!!

Yes I'm a '75 baby too Annie!!

Annie75 · 29/06/2007 14:09

Muffins - my baby's breech too (have we had this conversation before? I can't remember who I tell what to these days ). Might try the weird-sounding moxibustion next week (burning mugwort!) and have been doing all the yoga moves etc. Still can't tell if it's moved, to be honest, but appt on Monday.

I've lost track of when everyone's due. Does anyone have the link to the stats page set up ages ago?

Babylovesmuffins · 29/06/2007 14:21

Is this the link to the stats thread??!!

Can't remember if we talked about breech babies Annie . Quite possibly! I think I said I'd felt a lot of movement up and down my right side, which apparently has something to do with the baby's limbs all being tucked up that side now. My LO is now lying diagonally or sort of transverse but I can't tell if the movements I'm getting in my pelvic area now are hiccups or kicks!!

I think the baby is still changing position all the time, so who knows!

Good luck with the moxibustion Annie - let us know how that goes.

bananabump · 29/06/2007 14:27

You know, I think the baby has suddenly dropped. I can feel loads of pressure on my downstairsy bits and I think I can "feel" the head down there when I go to sit down or stand up.

I don't think it means anything, but it's still a bit exciting. Something else to bore and scare dp with when he gets home lol

GillL · 29/06/2007 14:38

Hello. Welcome littleyawner. My brain and memory are terrible these days. I keep doing stupid things at work like emailing the wrong contacts asking questions about software applications they don't deal with.

I'm off to visit my sister tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to the journey as it will take at least 2 1/2 hours to drive up there. I don't know how my back is going to cope. I wouldn't have even considered it but I'm going up for a hair practice for my sister's wedding. I don't want to risk getting to the hairdressers on the morning of the wedding and have them do a hairstyle I don't like. That happened at my other sister's wedding and I felt really uncomfortable.

itchy - I wonder why you get such a strange reaction to being pregnant in Africa. Hope you have a good journey over here.

littleyawner · 29/06/2007 14:39

Bananabump I have been getting that too!

I don't think the head is fully engaged yet as it comes and goes but it is definately in my pelvis.

It really felt like it was coming yesterday but things seem alot quieter today. It seemed to be pushing itself down which make me ache so bad. I keep forgetting that I am not hollow and it will need to push everything else out of the way. The only relief from the pain seems to be to lying in the bath.

bananabump · 29/06/2007 14:48

Yeah mine was pushing downwards yesterday, I think I said on here that he'd headbutted my cervix, maybe he's shoved himself down there? Little thug. lol

Did you say you were due on august 6th? I'm due august 4th, but I'm starting to think maybe he'll be just a little bit early since he's shoving around so much trying to get comfy.

It's hard to tell looking at the bump how big I am or whether he's dropped because I already had a big tummy before I got pregnant, so it's a bit of a guessing game on that score. Hope it's sooner rather than later though, I'm bored and I want to meet him!

littleyawner · 29/06/2007 15:19

Yep.

I am due on Aug 6th but have been convinced for a while it will be earlier than that. SAying that I will probably go over !!!!!

My lo seems to take great pleasure on squishing my bladder, it feels like its nipping it !!! And I get that feeling round my cervix too.

As for the bump.Everyone has an opinion on the bump and its position. I think it is lower mind I don't know how low, low is if that makes sense

MrsBadger · 29/06/2007 15:27

am completely not up to date yet
but my Vanity Search picked this thread up so for the benefit of the posse: yes I am fine, yes I was at CenterParcs, no we still haven't plastered the nursery .

bananabump · 29/06/2007 15:32

oooh tell us about centreparcs! I've always thought the adverts looked nice for it but thought you needed 2.4 children to go... how was it?

Annie75 · 29/06/2007 16:40

Ooh yes, that's the stats page - thanks! Have bookmarked it. Hey, of the 'knowns' there are 14 boys and 8 girls - nearly double the ratio of boys. Wonder whether that's a cold weather conception thing? Or whether more boys are born to first timers? Or whether I should stop looking for correlations as I probably haven't even been able to add up correctly in the first place...

Ah, Mrs Badger, you are there! Yes, what was Centre Parks like? A good distraction from pregnancy? Now, I can actually say that we HAVE finally managed to plaster the nursery, so a decorating weekend is in order. Am getting v excited about this whole giving birth thing now. In fact, it probably sounds odd, but I'm really looking forward to the labour!

MrsBadger · 29/06/2007 16:47

oh, we're old hands at CenterParcs - we first went as a huge treat when I was 12 and it had just opened but my parents have since become slavish devotees and go at least once a year - my dad insists it's the only place he can relax properly.

It's also one of the only times we all get together - my grandmother comes too and my (high-flying city financier) little sister manages to prise a few days out of her busy schedule, so it's very FamilyBadger time.

Because it was termtime there were oodles of families-with-under-fives so great potential for pushchair-spotting, baby-clothes-appreciating etc, and it was a bit startling to think that this time next year we'll be back there (good old Daddy) and the Cub will be nearly one...

(For anyone who's interested the top five most-seen pushchairs were (in order) Maclarens, M&P Plikos/P3s/Pramettes, Jane Slaloms, P&T doubles and the Silver Cross 3D )

Annie75 · 29/06/2007 16:54

You sound like their marketing dream, Mrs B - three - nay, four - generations of the same family going back year after year (blimey, when did it first open, or are you only 16?). I think you should write to them and suggest a free trip is in order next year.

Oh, and good luck with the hairdo, Gill. Nothing worse than feeling like Barbie at a wedding. My hair had a bit of an over-bouffant on my wedding day, but luckily is so badly-behaved it practically all fell out by the time the pics were taken.

MrsBadger · 29/06/2007 17:06

They've noticed already, Annie - my parents usually get a hefty discount and all sorts of priority booking / parking etc rights. Which we take full advantage of, of course.

(And they opened in the UK in about '87 so I am not as young as all that )

growingbagpuss · 29/06/2007 17:11

ok given up trying to read everything.. welcome littleyawner... same due date as me... bagsy I'm first!!

I left work today -the absolute opposite to TT's leaving day... got one hug off a member of staff who has known me for about 7 years, and that was the lot... that's what happens when you work for the NHS - miserable buggers too poor to do anything!!

Just for a little bit of TMI... had the runs this morning and got myself all excited thinkingmaybe I was going to go into labour... then realised that If I did i would be truly screwed.. DH is in Holland, best friend working night shift on labour ward (so at least I'd have a friendly face) - but my DS wouldn't be able to stay at hers, surrogate grandparents on holiday, and no car seat (its still at my mums) to even come home in....

Anywya... after that momentary excitement... i haven't gone into labour, so it must just have been something I ate.. DAMN

bananabump · 29/06/2007 17:53

aaaw. I know what you mean about starting to be on pins about every little twinge you feel, it's so easy these days to overinterpret everything! Is anybody else "knicker checking" at every loo break yet?

growingbagpuss · 29/06/2007 17:55

abso-flaming-lutely!!

Quite sure the bump has dropped too... but maybe that is wishful thinking!

katybird · 29/06/2007 18:20

Missed everyone as usual, hope you have a good weekend and don't get too wet.

On the topic of heads engaging, if it gets uncomfortable our yoga teacher recommends doing the head to chest position, which basically means going onto all fours then leaning forward on your forearms with your head on your hands and your bum in the air. Not very elegant but eases the discomfort!

She also suggested crawling on all fours for at least 10 minutes a day to encourage the baby to lie in the optimal position. Which is fun on hardwood floors!

growingbagpuss · 29/06/2007 22:14

ok. off to Mum's tomorrow to get last of baby bits - lots and lots of tightenngs tonight - some even bringing me out in a sweat..... hoping a good nights sleep will ward them off.

Night all, have a good w/e. no internet at Mum's (arrgh).

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 29/06/2007 22:50

Hi ladies, sorry i cant keep up with all the postings at the moment, we are so busy on here! seems to be a a conversation and i dont want to interrupt!

A Belated happy Birthday to TT and BLM

bagpuss - hope that the BH settle a bit for you , enjoy your weekend at your mums

I am well, had a busy week as my sister law got married last weekend and lots of tidying to do, it was a fab day and i didn't look to bad in my maternity bridesmaid dress (will post pictures when i had downloaded them), i even managed to stay up until 1am, so did my ds!!!

I had a bit of a panic on Tuesday as i hadnt felt babe move for over a day despite lots of prodding and cold water so off i went up to my hospital and they put me on the monitor, all was fine and after 30 mis he decided to start doing back flips and dancing! The midwife was fab and it was nice to have some reassurance

The babies room is nearly wallpapered at last !!! had my FIL round all day today to do it, looks fab and had someone in-today to measure the blackout blind - really feel like we are making progress, also have ordered some nappies so awaiting them aswell!!!

I am of on holiday to BUTLINS on Monday at minhead and very excited as i know DS will LOVE IT and i have a whole week of dh to look after both of us, starting to get tired now so a little help will be good!!!

Take care ladies and will try and post again soon

Love
PR
