Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

Have just spent ages trying to catch up, but haven't managed to read everything.

Belated happy birthday to TT & BLM.

Pinkranger, we had that with DS and went into the day unit for monitoring, every sympathy as it was v.scary. Little man started moving almost as soon as they slapped the monitor on my belly!

Growingbagpuss, do you think you are going to be the first?

Bananabump, yes I'm doing the knicker thing too but I think its just wishful thinking! The baby dropped a few weeks ago and its a bit uncomfy but at least it doesn't keep grinding its head against my bits which seemed to be DS's main hobby while he as down there Oh, and glad to hear that you money finally has come through.

I've finally had my overtime paid in so I going to get a couple of things,

www.nctsales.co.uk/prodshow.asp?id=1220&cat=255&scat=256&parent=255#

Was going to go for the Hugabub baby carrier but DH seems to think that I probably won't be capable of tying it right and will lose the baby somewhere, isn't it nice to have someone who has such faith in you

BLM & Annie have you seen this?

www.nctsales.co.uk/prodshow.asp?id=570&cat=69&scat=80&parent=69

Don't know if it will be much use to you. My MW wasn't sure which way up baby was and if it was breech I was going to order it.

Anyway, here's my news, the consultant had discharged me to the care of the MW after my 20 week scan but had said to call her if I was concerned about anything.

Called her secretary in the week as my MW couldn't tell which was up the baby was, she kept saying it was Ceph but then saying she wasn't certain. Also, she hadn't done my 28 week bloods or checked on the size of the bump.

The upshot is that the baby seems fine. It is Ceph, had my bloods done, DS and mum saw the baby at the scan which was lovely. They estimated the baby was 7lb 2oz yesterday so will be bigger than DS who was 6lb 8oz when he was born at 38+1 and the consultant is going to put in a complaint about my mw, she was furious that the growth of the baby hadn't been checked for 15 weeks.

One last thing, Bananabump did I tell you about The Nappy Lady's classifieds? You can get some real bargains there:

www.thenappylady.co.uk/Other/ClassifiedAds.asp

Sorry its such a long post but I haven't been on for ages :0

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 30/06/2007 20:10

OMG - 7lb 2oz yesterday horror - remind me when are you due ???

Had my first lot of nappies arrive this morning - very excited i am !!
has anyone used bimbles before ??

mum2george · 30/06/2007 20:27

Hi Pink, I'm due on the 1st Aug and had DS 2 weeks early so I'm trying to think positive! Am a bit worried though as I'm sure that they don't start to chub up until 36 weeks. Glad you are excited about your nappies, can remember being excited about mine but haven't used those ones sorry.

I've just spotted this, and its made me cry.

Hadn't heard of it before having DS but he did it while we were having skin to skin and I was in the 3rd stage of labour.

Think I need to go now and dry my eyes

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 30/06/2007 20:35

How Lovley that was

Nappy question - I have 2 totbots cotton, 2 bimbles and 2 tots bot bamboo blue, can i wash them together or will they run?? I have to wash them 3 times, yes???
Tell im a cloth nappy Virgin!!!!

Washersaurus · 30/06/2007 20:52

Hi pink and mum2george. That video was lovely; DS nearly managed it before he was whisked away by a midwife, hopefully I will be able to do it with this baby.

Bimbles are my fave newborn nappy btw, but mine are the oldie style ones without the fold out flap (bought 2nd hand for DS over 2 years ago). I have treated myself to a few new rainbow tots for new baby which I have washed with my other nappies without any colour run. Did anyone tell you that you don't need to dry the nappies between the pre-washes?

Washersaurus · 30/06/2007 20:56

Mum2george; my scans with DS told us that he would be nearly 11 lbs at birth - he was actually 8lb9 and 5 days late, so don't get too worried about what they say!

mum2george · 30/06/2007 21:02

Wash, am not worried, know that they can be vastly out. Am going to keep eating the chocolate so no worries

Washersaurus · 30/06/2007 21:05

I don't blame you, there aren't many pleasures to be had at this late stage of pregnancy. I have just drunk 1 litre of strawberry flavoured milk

We are due the same day by the way - I don't think mine will be as big as DS but I have another scan on Tuesday to check placenta position so will see what they say.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 30/06/2007 21:46

HI W - i will wash them on there own first time and then together for the next two washes, i thought i had to dry them in between so thanks!!
The Bimbles are sooooooo Cute, not sure how i will get on the the Nippa grip things but sue i will get the hang of it. The fold out booster goes inbetween the to layers which is fab, keep getting them out and looking at them!!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 30/06/2007 21:47

you lucky ladies, only having 4 weeks left, i am 22nd and it feel like forever!!!!

Washersaurus · 30/06/2007 23:21

I don't feel so 'lucky' at the moment; my sinuses are playing up again (have had this cold almost since the start of pregnancy), my back hurts, my boobs ache and have started leaking slightly (sorry TMI), and I need to pee every 5 minutes.

I am soooo tired but can't get a decent night's sleep . Worst still I have to listen to DH moaning about how he doesn't get any sleep

I still haven't sorted out the moses basket from the loft, we haven't yet bought a double buggy....I feel scarily under-prepared!

Babylovesmuffins · 01/07/2007 09:30

Hello all. Just having a quick catch up as DH off to play golf and I'm going to have a nice lazy day - yippee!

The breast crawl video was amazing. I might add that to my birth plan! I've heard stories of m/w's grabbing the baby and shoving it straight onto the breast...

Thanks for the link to the NCT leaflet Mum2George - I think my LO is still turning around a bit - had what felt like hiccups just above the pelvic area so I'm hoping head is down. I'm still only 32 + 4 but I'm doing a lot of the leaning forward exercises to try and compensate for sitting at a desk all day.

Had a fun day shopping in Boots yesterday for everything from nipple cream to sterilisers! Poor DH managed to back into a display of Boots-own supersize maternity pads, sending them cascading down on top of him - only to be followed several minutes later by a shower of breast pumps!! We did have a giggle though. Had no idea what sort of maternity pads to get, so got a huge selection of different brands . I can see what my hospital bag's going to be filled with!

mum2george · 01/07/2007 10:05

I don't feel lucky either W. Have got all the same symptoms and like you the carrycot is still in the loft and we haven't bought a new mattress for it either.

Had a rubbish night last night. Baby movements were way over what they normally are and by 4 am had only had about 20 mins sleep. DH told me to go and look on the internet which said that too many movements can be as bad as too few. I can only describe the movements as frantic. Phoned the 24 helpline at the hospital and they told me to come in straighaway.

All is well and they were very good at the hospital but we were there from about 4.40 am to 7am and poor DH didn't get in until midnight and was back in at 9 am.

At one point they thought I was in labour and couldn't feel the contractions but decided it was just kicking me so much it was giving the same readings as contractions.

Mum & Dad have kindly offered to look after DS for an hour while I have a kip so I'm off around their's now.

Hope you all have a lovely day and may be able to catch up a bit more later.

Annie75 · 01/07/2007 10:15

Hello mum2george - poor you, that sounds like one exhausting night. Glad everything looks okay though. Try and rest up today - I reckon a warm bath and a boring book are key to drifting off!

Thanks for the NCT link too - I'll try and get hold of the leaflet.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 01/07/2007 10:40

mum2george - what a rough night for you, glad that everything is o.k - xx

Babylovesmuffins · 01/07/2007 11:23

Mum2George and Washer - sorry you're both feeling rough. Hope you manage to catch up on some sleep today. I didn't realise that too many movements could be as bad as very few - my LO hardly moved at all yesterday but I put that down to me being extremely tired - then since I woke this morning he/she has been going mad!! Will keep an eye on it just in case.

Hi Pink - 22nd August does seem AGES away still doesn't it??!! Glad your wedding went well and that your LO is doing ok.

Well ladies I'm off to do some more surfing - need to get some furniture for nursery as I don't have anywhere to store all these nappies etc... hoping IKEA will have something to offer. Back later!

bananabump · 01/07/2007 12:57

Hi guys, god such a lot to catch up on. Hope you're getting some well earned sleep mum2george, sounds like you had a traumatic night. I was a bit worried on monday night when baby was moving around LOADS at bedtime. I really had to decide what frantic actually meant, and woke dp up to decide with me, but in the end we decided he was just trying to turn round, which was confirmed at the scan the next day.

So baby is estimated at 7lb 2oz already? my goodness, he'll be a lovely healthy weight then! Mine's estimated at about 4 lb 6oz currently, so if he comes at all early he might be quite diddy. Midwife was telling me the biggest baby she'd seen in her career was just under 12lb, she said he was the size of a 3 month old!

Just watched that breastfeeding video, I've heard of this before. I hate the thought of people seeing my boobs, full stop, so lying there with them out while he shuffles over would be very but I will try to latch him on within 30 mins of birth, if I'm not too knackered!

I know you're supposed to "leave your dignity at the door and pick it up on the way out" when it comes to childbirth, but honestly I can't bear the thought of being all exposed, in fact I'm dreading the birth from that point of view alone.

bananabump · 01/07/2007 12:59

ooh! just to clarify, mum2george, I wasn't implying I thought YOURS would be a 12lb whopper! wouldn't wish that on anyone!

tokentotty · 01/07/2007 13:04

my god tt - what a hugh list ,thats not for Hospitail is it!!!

My say i brought a really nice bath for my ds, used it once and someone tld me about sponges in Mothercare - that was a god send!!

mum2george · 01/07/2007 16:27

Thanks for the list TT, did she mention what the vaseline is for?

& sorry to be nosy but are you planning on formula feeding? Just wondered 'cos its on the list.

I think its a very good list but she forgot the breast pads, v.important!

bananabump · 01/07/2007 17:01

why do you need 2-3 bottles of savlon for the hospital? I'm probably going to pack a pack of antibac wipes and some antibac hand gel, what's all the savlon for though?

mum2george · 01/07/2007 19:31

The other thing that I'm taking is the numbers of all the local bfing counsellors in the hope that if I do have any problems one of them will be able to help.

Was ok last time but there was a woman in the next bed who had bf her DD and wasn't coping with DS.

You can't always rely on the right support in the hospital IMO so just covering myself.

conkertree · 02/07/2007 11:00

morning everyone - hope everyone had a good weekend - seems to have been busy on here certainly.

i was off in dunoon with dh and one of his youth groups. glad i didnt go before i got pg as those kids could put you off procreating for life. i understand that they come from a disadvantaged background and so you have to make some allowances, but really - some of them were so unpleasant it was a bit of an eyeopener.

got first parentcraft class tonight - really hope its not just ice breakers as could do without that - at 35+5 today so could do with jumping straight into the useful stuff.

anyone else getting really sore hands? have woken up the last two nights with pains in my hand joints, especially if i try and make a fist. my wedding and engagement rings ahve been consigned to my bed side table for the forseeable future too.

washed all the little baby gros that we bought for the hospital bag and they are so cute hanging there to dry. getting very excited. 15 more days at work, and have decided that i am now going to take it at my own pace and not get stressed about things at all. will see how long it lasts

lizziemun · 02/07/2007 11:27

Morning conkertree,

We have had a busy weekend DH has suddenly realised that he hasn't got months to get sorted out.

So this weekend he has been moving his office into the converted garage. He has made me laugh he was saying that he new office has so much more space "and i have only got one new set of shelves" of course it's nothing to do with the 8 black sacks of rubbish and a car load of rubbish he took to the dump.

He is out all next weekend at the grand prix with his dad. The following weekend he got to decorate his old office and clean the carpet so he can move the furniture to make it the spare room, then sort out the nursery and get the bits down from the loft.
