Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

It just seems too too odd to me to take into hospital the smart black trolley case that has traditionally gone on business trips with me. it just seems to fit badly.

growingbagpuss · 26/06/2007 17:58

kite - I have lost weight too - only a couple of Kg in the last week, but rather unexpected!! the bump has msot certainly grown, and most of my maternity trousers don't fit.

I don't remember this problem last time.. but it was winter, we had builders in, and i spent most of my days in DH's tracky bottoms.

Are you a slim build? I am very skinny, and I think my fat cells are all saturated. After I had DS I actually lost more than I put on in the first place!!

katybird · 26/06/2007 18:19

Hi all, no time to post during the day and it's taken me an hour to catch up!

Reassuring that the m/w isn't too worried kite, my bump is definitely still growing too. Although someone at work hadn't noticed until today, which weirdly cheered me up! I'm going to measure my fundal length tonight to make sure he's still on target.

Also reassuring to see other people are snacking for Britain too! Bana, that egg and quorn sausage sandwich sounds bliss, I might tell DP I'm having a craving for one when I get in .

kiteflying · 26/06/2007 19:21

Growing, yes I am/was slim for my (middle) age. I was nine and a half stone when I became pregnant with some extra IVF weight which fell off in the first eight weeks of pregnancy.

I think losing a little bit at this stage is normal - you, me and katy seem to have all done it in 1 or 2 kg increments, but mine has been a bit dramatic when looked at week by week.

growingbagpuss · 26/06/2007 19:37

that reminds me - I explained to DH the other night about where everything was (just in case)..... then he peered into the base of the tiny travel cot we are using, and said "why is there a big bag in there?"....

There is no hope.... this LO had beeter arrive at home, and easily -not sure I could cope with leaving DH and DS unepectedly, Child services would probably be called in!

BabyMadandBIGbump · 26/06/2007 20:35

OH bananabump bananabump bananabump, I've gone and done it now it's official my MW thinks I've lost the plot, I asked her about these SOUNDS and she looked at me totally like I had lost it and is a first for her, she said maybe the reason why she has never been asked about it by anyone else is because know one dared too, and then there was ME! Anyway she didn't seem concerned about it at ALL so feel total reassured that it's nothing, like I said just one of them things, she said maybe (maybe) I can hear the water sloshing about above his head or something, when baby is really moving about!

bananabump · 26/06/2007 22:51

haha! I bottled out of asking my consultant today I'm afraid! Purely because I didn't want to have to mention my spd and chance them saying I couldn't go under midwife led care.

If anyone doesn't know what we're talking about, the other day I was sitting still, baby was pushing and shoving behind my pelvis and I suddenly heard a snapping noise coming from my pelvis, and babymad said she'd heard some noises too! Anyone else noticed any noises coming from the bump?

Oh well, if the midwife thinks there's nothing to worry about then I shan't worry unless he starts doing karate kicks to my ribs!

You realise she's now written "Mentalist" is secret hospital code on your antenatal notes now, don't you?

Hersetta · 27/06/2007 10:28

Morning ladies - everyone's quiet today!

NCT class went OK last night (6 couples). DIdn't really learn anything I think it was getting us to interact and get to know each other. Very releived that I wasn't the eldest first time Mum (one lady was 40) and everyone else was between 32 and 35).

myweegirl · 27/06/2007 11:19

bananabump - i think i get those sounds too (had them last pregnancy). it sounds like a ping to me and i kind of feel a flick - which makes me think that baby is pinging the cord.

i've also got a new pregnancy symptom at night - drooling whilst asleep . think it's because i try and prop myself up so much with pillows.

my work have just decided who is going to take over from me in 2 weeks time (the only problem is that due to meetings etc i'm only going to be in the office 2 days - so i need to be really prepared with notes etc for the poor sod!)

Babylovesmuffins · 27/06/2007 12:49

Hi all! It's taken me ages to catch up on your posts again but I got there.

I know we promised we weren't going to moan on this thread but I'm having a really crap morning (sorry). Sleeping at night has become a real problem - went to bed last night at 9 and slept until 10 when DH came to bed, then for a variety of reasons (namely hip pain in left side, hip pain in right side, toilet trips, heartburn - at 2.30am!! - so trip to kitchen for glass of milk, etc etc - you know how it is!!). To top it all off I was late for work this morning and none of the useless feckers (sorry) gave me a seat on the bus so I had to stand most of the journey . I also managed to get an electric shock off my hairdryer this morning - just a small one but enough to reduce me to tears... I am so pathetic!!

Anyway, on a brighter note I had my 32-week appointment with m/w yesterday and I had a wonderfully nice new m/w, which made such a change! My bump has grown 4cm in last 4 weeks, so nicely on target at 31.5cm. She thought the baby was lying sideways, or sort of diagonally across me, and the head is sort of down above the top of my left leg with the baby's back across the front of my bump and all the limbs tucked in at my right side - which explains all the movements I've had up and down that side. She also said there was no way to make the baby turn and he/she would turn when ready!! Apparently there are recent studies that were carried out in NZ that show this... I'm keeping going with my birthing ball every night though, just in case

Babylovesmuffins · 27/06/2007 12:51

Oh, meant to say as well Myweegirl, I've been drooling for the last couple of weeks too. Nice isn't it? Just another contributor to the sleeplessness when you wake up with a nice wet face...

Babylovesmuffins · 27/06/2007 13:25

Oops! think I've killed off the thread with my ranting - sorry about that.

Banana - I'm glad to hear that everything's coming together for you now! On the subject of the clicking or popping noise coming from your bump, I haven't experienced it myself but I have read other threads on MN where people have described the same thing and their m/w's thought they were mad you could probably do a search to find the other posts... I couldn't find any just there.

kiteflying · 27/06/2007 14:08

Don't worry babyloves - you haven't killed the thread. I think those of us at work have started to feel a bit guilty about all the time we spend chatting here instead of working, with only weeks to go left in the office!

I wake up regularly with hip pain now, and find turning over on to the other side almost more painful than staying put! Hope yours gets better. i bought a sheepskin yesterday and cannot wait to see if this makes a difference (bit worried about how much the cats will like it though as I would hope to use it for baby later on).

kiteflying · 27/06/2007 14:38

God it really is a ghost town today. May as well work.

jem1969 · 27/06/2007 14:48

I'm reading but again have zero energy and nothing interesting to write!
First NCT class tonight so might have something to say tomorrow...

conkertree · 27/06/2007 14:57

yup i am the same - nothing interesting to say - have had the same sort of nights sleep - lots of hip pain whichever way i turn. really cant wait to be able to lie on my tummy again.

all my separation clients just about have decided to phone in the same day - its just not possible to deal with everyone on the same day - i understand that everyone thinks that their case is the most important, but there is only one of me. so am having 5 mins off the phone to look at the internet or i might explode.

bananabump · 27/06/2007 16:02

Hi guys! the threads probably quiet cos I shut up for once! I went out shopping with my sister, the only person who still has enough patience to trudge very slo-o-owly round shops and let me have regular breaks.

Sorry you're having a bad day babylovesmuffins, I really do believe it's natures way of preparing us for the sleepleness nights we'll have when the babies arrive. Otherwise why would silly things keep waking us up when we're so tired? And you aren't pathetic for getting upset when the hairdryer shocked you, I'd say that's legitimate crying fodder.

Not sure I was quite so justified in blubbing a couple of weeks ago when I couldn't sleep and had finally got comfy in bed and leaned on a single head hair and pulled it out by the root. What a big pansy. lol

bananabump · 27/06/2007 16:08

In other news, I'm having lots of braxton hicks today and quite scared my sister in the middle of Dunelm Mill when I had a bit of a painful one that took my breath away and made me stop for a minute. I don't know if it was that I had a kick or some random indigestion pain at the same time as a BH, but either way it made my poor sister go a whiter shade of pale! lol

tokentotty · 27/06/2007 16:29

Hello, hello !!!

Have been reading off and on but was too grumpy to post the other day and then have been very to and fro since. Had my scan this morning to check whether my placenta had moved up and guess what ? It has - yay. Guess what else though ? I have excessive fluid round Peanut - boo. Now apparently it's not at a dangerous level but means seeing the consultant (no drama as am booked in to see him Friday morning anyway) and for re-scan in two weeks. Not sure what it all means but hopefully will find out Friday.
Other than that - last day at work tomorrow !!! Woo hoo! Such a relief. Keep getting told off by Betty as have been seeing stars now and again lately and she's telling me I definitely need more rest and to make sure I'm eating often enough... Believe me, that bit of the equation is NOT a problem!
No hospital bag packed here but then again, not done any shopping yet so haven't exactly got much to put in a bag yet! Tried to upload a file picture of Betty's list but no joy so am going to type it out for all.

Ceolas · 27/06/2007 16:36

OMG I am knackered today. DS sports at nursery which involved standing for over an hour. No chairs and very cramped (inside as grass was too wet).

Legs and back are aching too.

MW appointment tomorrow - more blood

Anyway must try and catch up...!

bananabump · 27/06/2007 16:40

Hey TT, Hope everything goes well with the consultant for you. That's good news about the placenta, does that mean you will be alright to have a normal delivery then?

Looking forward to reading Betty's Essentials list, I still have a few things left to buy but don't know if I'll just end up packing loads of things out of fear of forgetting something. Definitely need some lansinoh or non-lanolin equivalent, and arnica tablets.

tokentotty · 27/06/2007 16:56

Yup Banana, hopefully no sunroof exit for my LO.

OP posts:
Hersetta · 27/06/2007 17:02

Hi TT,

good news indeed about your placenta.

I am stuck at work feeling very uncomfy as LO has been having a party for at least the last hour. If I lean forward she kicks hard down in my pelvis, and if i sit back i bet booted in the rib area. Can't win at the moment. Think my cold bottle of water triggered this period of hyperactivity. Hopefully she will calm down and have a nice snooze soon - bit like her Mum on the train on the way home with any luck!

Looking forward to Betty's list. Bought my arnica this morning so another thing checked off.

growingbagpuss · 27/06/2007 17:54

I keep thinking the Lo has moved round again, and can't quite figure where she is I'm being kicked from so many directions!
I got into work today, and had to sit at 90 degrees typing stuff - which is bloody uncomfortable! But last day on friday Hurrah!!
Does anyone else have a constant erm damp feeling ?? perhaps thats TMI - but with support tights on constantly aswell, I have to say i'm aware not wanting to niff [

conkertree · 27/06/2007 18:16

yup i do growing bagpuss - tops of my legs are rubbing lots too and so its getting a bit painful to walk.

think i am sweating loads more than usual cause my normal deodrant is just not coping and its not that great weather.

oh well the joys.

by the way - where do you find arnica - have had a vague look on shelves when have been in various shops buying other things but have obviously not been looking in the right places.

off home now. see you all tomorrow
