Now that's all out of the way in the thread title we've all got to head down the "things can and will only get better now" ok?? All ailments stop and nothing but good things will befall us all.

Right.

OP posts:

conkertree · 26/06/2007 14:07

phew - finally caught up. but now lunchtime is over so cant really post. actually who am i kidding - when do i ever just go on this at lunchtime?

havent got that much to say - everything seems to be going well apart from hips still sore so not sleeping all that well.

we did a wee shopping spree at the weekend and got most things for the hospital bag and just after. one or two more things to get after work and then will maybe pack the bag tonight.

we have one pack of bamboo tots bots and think we will get some bambino mio ones as well but will be using disposables till they fit the 10lbs size.

bananabump · 26/06/2007 14:08

Fingers crossed for you too Hersetta! Good luck.

Let us know how your NCT classes go, hopefully they'll go better than my NHS ones. I think dp learned a lot from them though! I am hoping to find a bumps and babies near me soon to try and meet some local mums.

Annie75 · 26/06/2007 14:18

Thanks for the breech yoga positions, JSer - I'll def give them a go. The other position which is meant to be worth a go is the tilt - lying with your legs and pelvis up an ironing board to 'tip' the baby out of the pelvis. I've given it a go for the last few nights, much to the panic of my dog, who thinks weird things are afoot and watches me suspiciously from the safety of the doorway...

Myweegirl - you mean moxibustion - burning mugwort sticks by your feet! V Harry Potter-sounding... I've found someone who'll do it, but they're recommending a treatment every day for ten days, which feels hideously expensive.

Lizziemun - did you give birth to your first as a breech baby?

Bananabump - yay! Glad tings are looking up for you

Annie75 · 26/06/2007 14:20

Oh yes, Hersetta - I started NCT last week and the partners class is tonight. Not sure my DH will stick them but I'm happy just to meet other first-time mums. The thing that stuck in my mind were the life-sized diagrams of the uterus. Blimey, these babies are taking up a lot of womb-room...

lizziemun · 26/06/2007 14:32

Annie75

No she had turned, but we didn't know as she was still breech at the last midwife appointment i had which i think was about wk 35, she turned but herself.

I have to say i didn't do anything to turn her, and my midwife wasn't concerned as most will turn by themselves when they are ready to be born.

Hersetta · 26/06/2007 15:09

Annie, what is a partners class as my DH was planning on coming to all the classes?

jem1969 · 26/06/2007 15:12

Am lurking today as bloody knackered and no energy to type,
Hersetta- my NCT classes start tomorrow and we have been told in no uncertain terms that the DH/DPs are expected at all the classes except one which is girls only.

Haven't thought about my hospital bag yet- 32+3 weeks- should I get round to it soon??

myweegirl · 26/06/2007 15:13

lizziemum - i want a labour like that this time please!

Annie75 · 26/06/2007 15:24

Hiya Hersetta - oh, just that the first and last classes are women-only - partners told to come to all the others in-between.

Still can't quite imagine him listening patiently to lots of discussions about managing labour pains, but maybe I'm under-estimating him ...

bananabump · 26/06/2007 15:32

Annie you might be surprised, I thought dp would hate the classes but I think he found it more interesting than expected, and he definitely learned a few things.

I know this because I walked in on him saying something about cervixes to a room of my mildly horrified (male) friends.

I daresay a few months ago he would have thought a cervix was a mythical firebreathing bird!

conkertree · 26/06/2007 15:37

we are only going to nhs parentcraft ones cause all nct were booked up but the one birth dvd we have watched - dh was fascinated and keeps quoting from it.

jem - i am 35 weeks tomorrow and am going to pack my bag this week just to be on the safe side (given the story i told you before about my friend who gave birth on the hard shoulder cause she hadnt packed her bag so took a while to leave). and also i ahve been strangely looking forward to the packing of the bag since before i got pregnant - not entirely sure why, so think its about time i got to enjoy that part of it.

jem1969 · 26/06/2007 15:48

you're a bit ahead of me - that's good- I will do mine when I leave work in 2 weeks!
Question is- what bag(s) totake- will I look stupid with a wheelie suitcase?!

bananabump · 26/06/2007 15:53

I am officially a greedy cow. I haven't been able to stop eating for about a fortnight, it's only half three and already today I've had:

two bananas
orange
apple
two pieces of toast
egg and quorn sausage sandwich
several jaffa cakes
bag of snackajacks
2 glasses of milk
apple juice
coffee

And I'm already planning on having a big veggie curry tonight. And possibly attacking a tub of ben and jerry's later.

What is wrong with me? lol

growingbagpuss · 26/06/2007 16:04

only several jaffa cakes? They are banned from this house - because once I open the packet i have to finish it -usually in one go.

If I didn't have DS following me round like a limpet, I would eat a damn site more - but it might not be as healthy as your list.... one of my favourites is popcorn - a big bowl of homemade salty popcorn with a pot of tea.... lovely.

Hersetta · 26/06/2007 16:25

Nothing wrong with B & J's banana.

Was it wrong of DH and I to scoff a tub of Baileys's haagen Daz in two sittings last week using just a spoon - we didn't bother with bowls.

Only problem is I bought another one this week! Eeek.

lizziemun · 26/06/2007 16:30

jem1969

I am packing a small case with wheels (eg overnight bag), as last time dh had to carry dd in car seat and the large bag. I think it will be easier to pull rather then a bag to carry.

I packed everything they said last time this time i am only taking enough for 1 night.

kiteflying · 26/06/2007 16:34

I am guessing none of you are having problems with losing weight quickly then.
I rang the clinic midwife about having lost half a stone in three weeks and she is threatening a growth scan (eeek. No more scans!) if it continues. I explained that due to road blocks, tube closures and office move to ridiculous riverside location I am walking twice as much as I was, and the weight seems to have come off the bottom end while the bump cheerfully keeps outgrowing my clothes. She reassured me that it was hugely likely I was fine if the bump was getting bigger and baby was still moving well.

Katybird, take note as I recall you were also losing weight?

Annie75 · 26/06/2007 16:37

Sounds positively restrained to me, Banana. I've been like a non-stop grazer the last few weeks. My desk is covered in remnants - I pity the person who has my keyboard .

Annie75 · 26/06/2007 16:38

Hi Kite. I wouldn't worry too much - don't forget your metabolism will have increased quite a bit too. And if you're doing a lot of exercise. Having said that, if you're worried, maybe get it checked out...

jem1969 · 26/06/2007 16:40

Doesn't look like much food at all to me banabump and (bar the jaffa cakes) all rather healthy (and even they're sort of fruit)

jem1969 · 26/06/2007 16:42

1 breakaway
2 toast and marmite
orange juice
pain au chocolate
banana
smoothie
4 enormous chicken fillet fingers
chips
yogurt
krispy kreme
chocolate digestive
tea x2

and supper

kiteflying · 26/06/2007 16:42

Thanks Annie - I actually haven't been that worried. As I said little one is quite cheerful and my maternity wardrobe choices have been shrinking over the same period!
I promised DP I would ask though so I did. I guess I just hoped someone would say what the midwife said - that as long as I was not underweight it was fine - but I absolutely don't want to sign up for growth scans.
I know I am eating slightly lighter meals because it helps with the heartburn, but I graze as constantly as the rest of you, and have been in the 4am early breakfast camp as well!

mum2george · 26/06/2007 16:42

Lizziemun, do breech baby's turn even when they are partially engaged? Think I need to read up on the a bit more!

Have got an appt with the consultant on Friday, she is a real gem

Bananabump, shouldn't worry too much about the list. I read it and thought you were on a diet compared to me!

And Jem, I'm taking a wheelie overnight case for my stuff and the baby change bag with the baby stuff. DH is offically in charge of his own stuff and god help him if he forgets the camera.

Thought naively that I would be coming home in normalish clothes last time. Think that I thought that the bump just went down like a balloon after giving birth, he he. Will know this time to take some clean maternity clothes with me for coming home in. It was a nightmare trying to explain to DH what I needed and where it was.

conkertree · 26/06/2007 17:18

oh dear all this talk of food is making me hungry. i bought a couple of snacks to have in my drawer just incase - but knowing they are there always makes me hungrier and the stash has dwindled somewhat since the start of the week (and its only tuesday).

oh well - will be walking lots when the baby arrives.

its does seem to be trying to make a bid for freedom the last few days - really strong pushes and shoves - i always worry that it doesnt have enough room but the bump is huge so dont think i can grow much more. hopefully its just playing.

conkertree · 26/06/2007 17:19

i am taking a wheelie overnight case too - have always wanted one but never had an excuse to go and buy one before so that was yesterdays purchase.
