@Reastie There isn't an August group yet but just spied the beginnings of a 'due in August' thread on the main pregnancy board. 😬

It's good to feel like we're ticking through the months!

Welcome and congrats @user1499700094! I feel like I've been pregnant forever already so very jealous you've skipped the first trimester!

Good luck @stellarfox - let us know how you get on!

JBCG · 22/11/2018 09:09

Welcome @user1499700094 !!

I'm counting down the hours to my scan this afternoon. I should be around 9 weeks but not sure.

This morning I received my booking in appointment for the 18th December but my dating scan for the 7th. Is that normal?

toomanyflatwhites · 22/11/2018 09:35

Oh @jacquejacque yes me! Am 10+2 and get to have a single appointment, was laying awake after DD went back to sleep at 4am thinking about what I will do in practical terms of they tell me at my private scan on Monday that there's no heartbeat...will I head straight to the EPU? What will I do about work? (Have got an event happening that I shouldn't even be missing the first hour of). But then at the same moment am imagining calling my family and showing them the scan picture and all being well - it's such a head-fark having complete doublethink!
Good luck today @stellarfox and welcome @user1499700094, what a dream to skip the first trimester!!

Kescilly · 22/11/2018 09:39

I've been a bit quiet because we're worried about some results. Both my Harmony tests failed, and my NT scan was at 2.9mm. We are waiting to hear back from the NHS on the results, but I have a bad feeling about all of it. I'm thirteen weeks and we were so excited to finally be able to tell our families last week. Now I regret it and feel more worried than I did the first trimester.

toasterstrudle · 22/11/2018 09:42

Oh @Kescilly I'm sorry you're having such a worrying time. What's the next step now the NIPT has failed? Thinking of you.

toasterstrudle · 22/11/2018 09:42

So sorry just re-read and saw you're waiting on results back from NHS. Do you know when you're likely to get them?

toasterstrudle · 22/11/2018 09:43

Argh, I also wrote NIPT but meant Harmony. I'm on my phone - can't view your post and type at same time. Sorry.

jacquejacque · 22/11/2018 09:45

@toomanyflatwhites thank you, I'm sorry you're feeling it too but also a bit glad it's not just me if that makes sense? I have those exact same thoughts too. I've just weighed myself and I haven't gained an ounce - I'm overweight and usually just have to look at food to put weight on! But vomming on the reg will do that to a person I suppose

@Kescilly I'm so sorry you're having such a rubbish time of it, keep talking to us as your worries arise. Xxxx

Kescilly · 22/11/2018 09:51

Thanks guys. @toasterstrudle we had the Harmony test done privately so I'm also concerned because the NHS won't be taking that into account when looking at our risk. Right now we are just waiting on the NT results to give us a high or low risk. Obviously I want it to come back as low risk, but I'm also worried that they'll give us something they consider low risk that's still quite high, and that we won't have the option of going for diagnostic testing.

It's so stupid, we did the Harmony test because I was worried in the first place and wanted certainty. And now I'm more worried than ever.

Reastie · 22/11/2018 10:12

Kescilly how stressful for you. I don’t know much about accuracy of harmony tests etc to help but here for hand holding. With dd I turned down the NHS test as dh and I decided if it were to come up as high chance we’d keep it anyway so it was better to be completely in the dark and not worry about high potential result. Do you have to wait much longer for nhs results?

stellarfox · 22/11/2018 10:39

@Kescilly when did you have your nhs tests? They told me someone would ring me within 3 working days if it’s high risk and if it’s low risk you will get a letter within 2 weeks so no news is good news from the nhs

toomanyflatwhites · 22/11/2018 10:47

@Kescilly I'm so sorry, this must be so stressful and scary for you. Did the private clinic give you any indication of whether the lack of a result means anything? I wouldn't necessarily take that as a negative and from a bit of research (terrifying as it must be) your nuchal fold measurement still means the odds are much higher that nothing is wrong.
Do your NHS trust not offer diagnostic testing in the case of a high risk result?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 22/11/2018 10:50

@Kescilly

I am so sorry you are going through this. When did you get your NHS test?

Kescilly · 22/11/2018 10:50

I had my NHS scan and test on Monday, but they told us it would be a couple weeks before we’d get the results.

It’s Thanksgiving in the US and we were going to Skype with my family so we could tell my aunt and uncle today. But now I don’t think we’re going to. Is it bad that I don’t even want to call now? We also have American friends coming today to stay with us and celebrate this weekend. But I just feel like hiding away from everyone.

stellarfox · 22/11/2018 10:50

Scan went well! Was worried and up at 5am this morning. Dated me 4th June but pretty sure 5th is more accurate from my tracking. Just got to wait for nhs tests now!

stellarfox · 22/11/2018 10:54

@Kescilly well they literally took my bloods this morning and told me someone would ring me within 3 days if it’s high risk so hopefully it would be the same where you are? You could try ringing the hospital to see if your results have come in as you’re especially worried? A couple of weeks might be the low risk results

Torsz · 22/11/2018 10:55

I was told the same - we'd get a phone call within 3 days if high risk and a letter within a couple of weeks if low risk. We actually got the letter after 4 days!

Bigonesmallone3 · 22/11/2018 10:55

@stellarfox

Great pic.. 💗

Kescilly · 22/11/2018 11:02

@stellarfox hoping you get some good results soon!

So basically I should really hope that I don’t get a phone call today ...

fee1234 · 22/11/2018 11:02

@Kescilly sorry to hear you are worried but as others have said they will generally get back to you relatively quickly if it's high risk. Here to hold your hand through it though x

@stellarfox lovely scan pic 😊

LivingOnAPear · 22/11/2018 11:07

@user1499700094 huge congratulations and what a blessing to have skipped the worst trimester. It really has lasted forever. I take it you’ve felt normal as well which is great.

@jacquejacque I feel exactly the same even though I’ve had 2 scans and the harmony test. I was like this with my first and said never again as didn’t want to go though this anxiety. I have my 12 week scan tomorrow so hoping to feel reassured then.

@Kescilly Sorry you didn’t get a result to put your mind at ease. there’s someone else on here (different thread) that had two harmony tests that didn’t work then the third one did that she had after 12 weeks. So it could well still work when you are further along. Hopefully you’ll get your nhs results back soon though. I don’t think it normally takes as long as 2 weeks I think they just tell people that in case. Most people I know got the letter after about 4 days. And they definitely phone sooner if there is a problem.

MadeInCornwallx3 · 22/11/2018 11:18

@Kescilly Sorry to hear you're so worried, totally understandable.

Is 2.9 in the ok zone still just the higher end?

I was told the same that bad news would be a call within three working days, so if you haven't heard yet that's a really good sign! My three day window takes me to tomorrow and because I'm 35 I am more worried that previously. Hold handing!

Just think, soon this bit will be over and hopefully we can get I. With truly enjoying these pregnancies, ho early they are the toughest thing.

I've always said I would so rather give birth without pregnancy than have a pregnancy without the birth all day long! (If that makes sense!)

Also yay! On the scan @stellarfox - so pleased it all went well - hop aboard the 'waiting for results' bus with us. X

MadeInCornwallx3 · 22/11/2018 11:21

Oh dear god as I sent that the post came through with TWO letters from the hospital - I freaked! Turns out it's two copies of my 20 week scan appointment. 17th January.

Nearly had a bloody heart attack.

SassehMonsta · 22/11/2018 11:28

Bahahah cornwall, that made me laugh (sorry!).

I am starting to feel more "me" and less "BLERGHGHGHGGH". Marginally. Still dry heaving a few times a day even on ondansetron, but hey! Better than last time.

I am 12+4 today. Eeek. That puts me into second trimester doesn't it?! AT LAST. It has been a stupidly long 10 weeks since I POAS.

Kescilly · 22/11/2018 11:38

@MadeInCornwallx3 I'm so jumpy today, that would have frightened me too. It took me a year just to get used to having the post come straight through the door. It wasn't like that in the US!

I've seen upper limits from 3.0-3.5 mentioned in the UK, but seen other countries say they were counseled about being high risk from 2.5. The midwife we saw simply said that ours was within the normal range.

I think it's one of those things where I wouldn't be so worried if we had just had the NT scan with the 2.9 measurement. Or if we had failed Harmony tests with a much lower NT measurement. Or if I wasn't also 35. But when you combine all that data, the picture starts looking a bit dimmer.

I'll sit here and hope for a letter and not a phone call.

@LivingOnAPear yes, I posted in one of those threads too. We were offered the chance to retake the test somewhere between 16-20 weeks, but at that point I'll either have low risk results or have done some sort of invasive testing. I suppose it would be different if I was totally against amnio, but I'm not.

We've opted for a refund instead. Maybe I can find something relaxing to do with some of the money. Any suggestions?
