TA- using a breast pump for nipple stim is fine

bumperlicious · 18/06/2007 08:48

Morning all - D-day for me today!

I'm waiting ...

...ok this baby obviously hasn't got my personality, if it did, it'd be here by now. It would have been here a week ago!

Still if it's got my looks and DH's personality it can't go far wrong in life.

Ok, Off to catch up!

Cheers lulu
(Might wait til my mum goes home today though, she's pretty open minded but I don't think I'd ever live it down)

LOL Bumper
I think you and me are twins or something - I could say 'ditto' to virtually all of your posts.
I am so impatient, I have to have it all yesterday, DH is mellow and chilled. I take it you and he are the same?

mumof4aceboys · 18/06/2007 08:51

DKMA - don't worry. urs its just another one to work on! When I was having my 1st I was induced. The MW - not my sister - was about to put the pessary in and asked me to get on the bed - I asked if I needed to take my knickers off! SHe said - were they off went you got pregnant! That broke the ice a bit! THEN when she was in there I looked at her face and she was kind of staring into space and grunting while she was pushing and shoving! I started giggling like mad - she screamed that as I was laughing my flango was gripping her hand spasmodically - this made me laff even more! WHen she finnaly removed her hand my cervix had gripped her glove and kept hold of it! What a laff. At least I had some muscles down there then - 12 hrs later they were gone!

I would just get on and let her do it - think of england!

Hope you go on ok!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 18/06/2007 08:52

Ok - good call -I'll take some paracetamol before hand.

At least she's coming to my house - I haven't got to stagger home afterwards. And my mum is coming around with some lunch later.

4aceboys - I've have 2 midwives that job share and work out of the local surgeries (I live in a very rural area) and over all they have been pretty good - and I have been asking some really dumb questions!!
It must have been nice to have someone you know so well being your midwife - wasn't it weird having your sister see your privates up close tho?

See I am having a problem with exposing my privates - obviously!

bumperlicious · 18/06/2007 08:55

Yep, DH is "horizontal Harry" and I have a mortal fear of being late for anything! Bit of a control freak really. I think that's why being pg has thrown me so much. You can't control or predict any of it. I just don't do "going with the flow" very well.

I wish we has some kind of light or something that pinged on when you are definitely in labour, just so that you know.

Your cervix gripped her glove! Bloody hell!!

mumof4aceboys · 18/06/2007 08:56

DKMA - couldnt care less really about sis seeing my bits - sure they are pretty much the same as hers. Believe me - after my 3rd 1 in the hospital reception with about 50 onlookers my sister seeing it is nothing!

bumperlicious · 18/06/2007 08:59

Morning DKMA, hope you are ok, are you over due? Do you want to have a sweep?

OP posts:
mumof4aceboys · 18/06/2007 08:59

BUMP - you do know when you are really in labour. Its not really like one light switching on but more like a whole stadium switching on!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 18/06/2007 09:03

Mornin Bumper

I am due on Wednesday - but my MW has offered a sweep for today - and as I am pretty keen to get things going I've said yes!

I think to be honest - if she told me that gnawing my own leg off would get things going - I'd give it a go at the moment!

bumperlicious · 18/06/2007 09:12

But poor TA has been getting these false labour pains for days and days now! Her light is obviously not on ;)

I just wish you knew what day it was going to come and that's it, it comes - yep, I really am a control freak!

bumperlicious · 18/06/2007 09:14

Good luck DKMA, and great that they are coming out to see you at home. I hope the sweep goes ok. I have a MW appointment on wednesday and they may offer me a sweep. Not sure if I want to take it though, I am actually in a "good place" at the moment.

OP posts:
annobal · 18/06/2007 09:32

Good luck dkma - what time is your appt?

mumof4aceboys · 18/06/2007 09:36

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 18/06/2007 09:57

Okay - MW has just been

I wasn't expecting her till after 10 - and I was in the shower! Nearly missed her!!

I've had my sweep! and apart from the embarrassement of having to strip off and show my fat legs / fanjo combo - it was fine!!! I am very pleasantly suprised!

She felt the babys head pressing down, and then found the cervix really quickly (couple of seconds).

Then she started to do the sweep (just felt a bit crampy / uncomfy) and she said the cervix was nice and soft and she could put her finger in it! . She said it could stretch to 2 cm dilated at the mo as it is so soft.

So described it as being very favourable

bumperlicious · 18/06/2007 10:00

Oooh, sounds promising! Could be you any day now then!

OP posts:
mumof4aceboys · 18/06/2007 10:08

DKMW - sounds good! Glad it wasnt 2 bad for you. Well done. Hope you wont be very long now

Klaw · 18/06/2007 10:29

Morning Ladies! Just checking in to see how TA is doing. I do not for one minute believe that you will still be here on Friday. Try to chill out and remember to conserve energy. Also remember that your hormones are pretty crucial right now and if the fear-or-flight ones are very active then labour will not start. Back to animal instincts, you must feel safe and relaxed to go into labour so stop worrying about the what-ifs and whens. [hugs]

Having your mucous plug dislodged is a good sign, it won't be long. Plan something nice for every day this week, lunch with friend, manicure of pedicure, massage and some how's-your-father from dh, movie date, etc and then you'll find that you have to cancel something!

annobal · 18/06/2007 10:48

DKMA - that sounds great - not too long for you then!

Klaw · 18/06/2007 10:59

Oh yes, DKMA, it won't be more than a few days, most likely, until labour starts. Ensure that you are well rested, fed and watered!
