Helllooooooo,
just popping in from the may thread to say congrats to those who have babies in arms and good luck to those still waiting.
I can't believe it was a month ago we were all going through this.

not many of those on the may post natal now.

annobal · 17/06/2007 22:00

LOL Ria.

that DH isn't home yet. Did he work all day? Have you had a good father's day?

justbeme · 17/06/2007 22:03

Havent actually done anything much today - had a "down" day.

Ria did you see my comment earlier? Ho comes you get a home visit from your midwide - and on a sunday?? Ive only heard of them doing home visits AFTER the birth.

justbeme · 17/06/2007 22:04

Hi Mrs Jaffa - is it all you imagined on "the other side?"

annobal · 17/06/2007 22:11

Am going to love you and leave you all as I am finding it hard to keep my eyes open. Sleep well all xxx

justbeme · 17/06/2007 22:13

Me too - other half has just come home - Sleep well xx

riabutterflew · 17/06/2007 22:18

Sorry JBM, I meant to answer you but I forgot. Don't quite know how I managed it but I have had about 4 home visits now between clinics.

We live in a rural area and there is only 1 day a week where we have a MW at the surgery. The hospital runs the community MW circuit I think. My MW from the village has been off sick for about 5 weeks, had a week back and is now on holiday for 2. The registrar at the hospital said I had to have BP checked twice a week (presumably cos I'm fat so at more risk?) when I had high BP the other week and so they arranged someone from the CMW unit to come out - I did have a choice of yesterday or today! I won't see anyone at all this week though as they are not sending anyone out to cover our clinic in the village, I just have to ring the hospital if I am concerned. My next appointment is 26th when I will be 1 week overdue and that is with the consultant at hospital, not a MW. (I don't want to go to that!)

Sorry, long post. I am crap at explaining briefly.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 17/06/2007 22:19

Hiya

Probably no point in posting this as I think everyone has buggered off to bed now but I thought I'd just like to make the following point - for the record.......

My DH is gay because he has been refusing to shag me - he'd rather watch the golf!!

What a miserable shit! - Just when I need it most - I am going out of my mind and want to have this baby but he just can't bring himself to do it!

MW is coming tomorrow to do a sweep - am a bit scared after TA's experience last week! Don't know what to expect?

riabutterflew · 17/06/2007 22:20

Father's Day here has been what it always is. DH was working (all day) but he popped home for 5 minutes at breakfast time to see the boys. He did have a short break late afternoon, but we were spending the time with my dad then so didn't see him.

Hey ho.

I am retiring to the sofa to wait for him now as this chair is too hard.

Night all, sleep/labour well. Rx

riabutterflew · 17/06/2007 22:25

Hi DKMAFME. I am scared of the sweep thing too. (and just can't bring myself to go with the oral administration of p-wotsits).

The MW I saw today recommended nipple & clitoral stimulation - could he be convinced? (He could even still watch the golf) The there's the usual curry, floor scrubbing, walking up the stairs sideways (I don't get that at all). My DH says he is happy to oblie, and of course, he's only thinking of me!

Sorry I can't be of more help. Hope it goes well for you.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 17/06/2007 22:39

Thanks Ria

Right I'm taking this ball into the living room - in front of the TV and I'll sit on it naked demanding clitoral stimulation whilst using my breast pump!

He'd probably call the police and start crying!

Unfortunately my HB is too bad for curry and I live in a bungalow so don't have any stairs!

It's not even my due date yet but I can't stand all this waiting about!

Night night - hope your DH is home soon - and you have more joy than I do!!

riabutterflew · 18/06/2007 04:59

Is anyone about? Hoe not, I've only come on for a boring rant!

DH and DS2 v comfy in our bed. I can't sleep! (no room and too uncomfortable.) Maybe he will let me go back to bed after the school run?

Bloody MIL rang DH yesterday, thinking I was probably nearly due and was there any news yet. Fair enough, if it was left up to me we wouldn't let them know, but DH will ne like a dog with two tails and will even tell people we don't like (when there's something to tell)! I think he said if the baby's not here next weekend they will visit (not, "is it convenient to visit" or anything remoltely polite). FFS, trying to scare the poor little bugger to stay in there for ever. Presumably that means they might also come if LO's arrived. Bugger - a week spent living in fear.

ARSE!

Also have bloody awful HB, and didn't go with the passion as had nasty sharp pains in "that area". Oh bloody hell I'm bored. Need sleep.

Can you believe DHs boss thought he probably wouldn't take his day off today as he'll be having his PL soon enough.

Why do we know such wankers?!

Sorry, long post. Might try bed again now I've got it all off my chest... Have a good morning everyone.

trendaverter · 18/06/2007 07:25

Morning all!
How is everyone today?
DKMA - the sweep was painful for sure, but I have heard it is different from woman to woman, also how relaxed your cervix is makes a difference - mine was not so relaxed, hence more pain. You might be luckier. I would say it's worth it if you are keen, it might be enough to trigger some movement.

It did relieve me of my plug, but as for its success....I'm still here aren't I?!

On that note...I'm still here

mumof4aceboys · 18/06/2007 08:13

Morning TA - Still here then! Ive had a bad night but for different reasons. My 2 babies are full of cold and the 20month one - Matt has had a high temperature. He's ok at the mo though as he's on the new climbing frame with James & Will - 2 oldest. They have a teacher training day so no school. Miles - my small baby has a bad cough also. Hope you are feeling ok?

mumof4aceboys · 18/06/2007 08:19

TA - just been thinking about the sweep I had with my 3rd baby. Yes it was very uncomfortable and I shrieked a bit and moved up the bed. I know my consultant meant business though when he tucked his tie in his shirt b4 he went in! I had Matt 26 hours later although actual active labour was only 40 mins. Went in with twinges which I thought I would like gas for and had him on the trolley in the hospital reception. Sure you wont be like that though - not if this baby is your 1st

trendaverter · 18/06/2007 08:20

Sounds like your place is to be avoided for a few days! Your poor boys!

Yes I'm good, still feeling quite cheerful which I wasn't expecting, given of late I have been very depressed in the mornings and progressively cheer up throughout the day!

I was getting some strong regular pains last night ... but then true to my recent form they stopped!
LO must be reeeeaaallly comfy

trendaverter · 18/06/2007 08:23

hahaha no although it would be nice

My sweep was pretty nasty (russian shot putter MW) but I won't be getting another, my community MW is fully booked and the hospital don't do them, it's against policy, so I am just chilling out this week until friday.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 18/06/2007 08:28

Mornin

Still here then TA?
When I saw my midwife last monday she said that if I wanted she would give me a sweep - and that she is very gentle and has very small hands????? Does that mean a sweep involves her putting her whole hand up there?

Hi 4aceboys! Hope you will stick around with us when we are all post natal - I especially haven't got a clue what I'm doing with babies - and sounds like you have lots of experience!!

trendaverter · 18/06/2007 08:31

DKMA, dunno but it felt like it!

No I don't think they do but tbh it's quite hard to see what they are doing!

It's worth having an internal really to assess how you are doing, and while they are up there you may as well have the sweep if it's offered.

It's not nice. Really. But brace yourself, it will soon be over, and you might get lucky and have a successful one resulting in an imminent birth!

trendaverter · 18/06/2007 08:38

Nip stim.
A question.
Would dry pumping work?
Frightening mental image but I am getting to the point where I will try anything.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 18/06/2007 08:39

Oh bugger.... I am going to be such a big girls blouse.

This is the first internal I have had since being pregnant - and I go all faint when I have a smear!

I also need to get over the embarrassement of someone seeing my fanjo . I know in a couple of weeks time - after having my first child - I probably wont care who sees my fanjo anymore - but at the moment it's still quite precious and private

annobal · 18/06/2007 08:41

Morning all,

I've also been up since 5am with one vomiting and the other complaining of sore tummy - bollicky bollicky bollicks . Have had to cancel all plans today and put on hold having the baby for a few days...

mumof4aceboys · 18/06/2007 08:42

In all honesty yes sweeps hurt and they leave you feeling a bit abused & shaken afterwards. I agree with TA though that its reassuring to have someone look in there to see whats going on. I have never actually gone over my dates so im lucky. My DS1 was induced at 36w, DS2 was 1 day over, DS3 had a sweep at 39w and DS4 was induced at 38w. It must be awful going over.

Do you all know what kind of babies you are having? I only had a surprise with my 1st but had amnios with 2nd & 4th ones so knew for definate what they were and my 3rd was breach up till 38w so knew from a scan at 37w as u cud c his bits!

Are you all prepared for labour etc? Have ur MW's answered all ur Q's ok? I had a gr8 MW for all mine so was lucky - shes my sister!

trendaverter · 18/06/2007 08:43

DKMA, please don't worry - they have seen more fanjos than you've had hot dinners.

I am v shy too but you need to just try and displace your fears to get the job over and done with!
I take a couple of paracetamol about an hour before I go in. Just takes the edge off. Or have a glass of wine
It's not a nice experience, I know exactly how you are feeling, but it's a means to an end - lie back and think of england!

trendaverter · 18/06/2007 08:45

annobal - does the baby know it's on hold?

Mumof4, nope, no idea what it is but it's so bloody stubborn I reckon it's a boy. A mummy's boy at that, it won't leave my side. Literally
