Just in case we get locked out without realising!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
foxybrown · 22/06/2007 15:07

custart? you know what I mean

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 15:11

my daughter is behaving in the most peculiar way today! She's just had the biggest, longest, hairiest hissy fit because I told her she couldn't pee in the bushes in the garden but had to use the toilet (we were inside at the time!) I love their irrational tantrums!

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 15:26

dkma...i've just been taking the sanatogen pronatal....can also be used for bf.

pingu....glad you've got things a bit better with the bf, and don't worry about how you feel....this is perfectly normal for a first time mum, but I will say that if you don't start to feel better after the first couple of weeks, please speak to your gp or hv......if it goes on longer it's more than just baby blues and needs to be addressed (and i speak from bitter experince). Ouch about the tear.....sounds nasty, but hopefully you're on the mend now! can you get your mil to go out with you for the first time....it's difficult in the early days when you don't know when they'll feed, but it does get better, i promise

yikes...em and i are on our own....think i might call in the dancing boys

saw the trickcyclist today...god it can be painful raking over old feelings!

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 15:39

like holly's hospital.....mine has side rooms and i was in one of those, peace and quiet and the lights could be out completely....i had a lovely few days (well except for the pain and discomfort and the incontinent moment when i wee'd all over the floor ). the staff were great and the food not too bad. i even liked the tea! we will get a bill for the room, but i reckon it was worth it for the peace and quiet

pinguthepenguin · 22/06/2007 15:44

I tried to get a private side room when I was there, but they were full. I hated the hospital, and not because of some fear I have of them, but because it was a genuinely awful place to try and rest in.

Thanks for your supportive msgs girls, realise I sound very negative given that I've just had a beautiful baby. I just felt as though alot of things had come at once

x

annobal · 22/06/2007 15:44

lol foxy. ds1 just had a tantrum all the way back from nursery because ds2 was singing spiderman

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 15:47

pingu, you're not being negative sweetie....those of us with dcs already kind of know what to expect, but as a first timer it can be difficult to know whether its normal or not.

with my dd, i didn't have an instant rush of love (too many anxieties kicking around), we bonded over the few days i was in the hospital. It will come!

annobal · 22/06/2007 15:49

I'm with you pingu, i hate hospitals and find it impossible to rest in them, even with a side room, wards are awful.

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 16:03

Annobal - LOL at your DSs tantrum - sounds exactly the same as our hourse!

You've done well staying the course, haven't you? Hope you don't end up going hugely over after all that!

sputnik · 22/06/2007 16:23

Just a quick post then I'll catch up, but I see from the stats that congratulations are in order for Tallulahbelle, Westcoaster, Nickie1, Pinguthepenguin, Riabutterflew, Bumperlicious, and Trendaverter

Well DH recovered enough to trek us all into Rome on wednesday so Baby Sputnik could do his blood test for jaundice, then was too sick to come home again and we ended up stuck at MIL's house for 2 nights. Poor guy had a temp of 40c, we called the doctor who said there was a possibility he might have pneumonia, so he's on antibiotics. Anyway the baby got cleared for jaundice the next day then this morning we had to go back to the hospital again because I had quite strong pains and bright red bleeding, which they reckon might have been a clot coming out.

Anyway, home now and I hope we stay that way for a bit. I've hardly had the babymoon I wanted but there you go. Luckily Baby Sputnik has been great so far, doesn't cry much at all, is getting into some kind of feeding pattern and is just all round gorgeous. Even my nipples are feeling better, I put it down to aloe vera gel - highly recommended.

Right, DD parked in front of DVD, baby and DH sleeping, will attempt to catch up...

justbeme · 22/06/2007 16:25

Well Im back from "bumps and babies" - I was the ONLY bump - youngest was 4 weeks but most were 6mths.
My DP just said "did u enjoy it?" and I replied "no not really" - I mean every one was very nice, but I really did sit there thinking "Shit what have I done......" I just hope I feel different about MY one.

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 16:27

hi sputnik......sorry things haven't been too great for baby sputnik, but glad he's on the mend now and you're all home.

how are you, yourself?

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 16:29

of course you will JBM. I'm still looking at Em and thinking "what have I done?", if that's any consolation

especially now when she's sound asleep and it feels like someone is tightening a steel band around my right nork

pinguthepenguin · 22/06/2007 16:30

thanks girls, you've made me feels loads better x

sputnik · 22/06/2007 16:39

With you on the hospital thing. I had a private room this time as it turned out my insurance covered it, and it was so much better than last time when I had to put up with my room-mates visitors and there wasn't a shower etc. But even so it was impossible to rest as they were constantly coming for things. At 6 they came with meds for contracting the uterus, if you managed to drift back to sleep they'd come anyway at 6.30 to change the bed. Then docs in and out for checks, taking temperatures, stuff to sign, no let up at all. At midnight they came and took the baby for weighing ffs, why?

sputnik · 22/06/2007 16:41

Sorry not very clear back there, it was DH with a temp and on ABs, Baby Sputnik is fine

sputnik · 22/06/2007 16:50

I'm more or less ok thanks Daisy, think I'm still running on a bit of birth adrenalin, but ocasionally had a few tearful moments, guess that's normal. Not happy about missing my chance for pampering and R&R post birth, but many go through worse. How're you doing?

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 16:56

OOps...forgot your DH was poorly, and glad baby sputnik is fine.

I'm sure once DH is up on his feet you'll get your pampering!

Obviously they do things a bit strangely in Italian hospitals..I only got woken once at an ungodly time, 6:30, and that's got they got the room wrong and it should have been the woman next door! I only hope they didn't forget to do her obs as she was very poorly.

sputnik · 22/06/2007 17:06

Dunno Daisy, he's talking about going back to work next week
However as a consultant he is obliged to take 1 month a year unpaid leave starting in a couple of weeks, so I shouldn't complain too much.
Unfortunatly he has zero job security.

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 17:15

about the job security, but that he'll be around.

are you coming to the uk to visit family and show off the LO or will they come out to visit you?

annobal · 22/06/2007 17:33

Hi Sputnik, sorry that you've had a not so great time of it but that baby Sputnik has the all clear. Hope Mr Sputnik gets better soon.

Daisy, hope you're feeling okay after your day of old feeling raking and shopping.

DCs fed, watered and watching Cars in the nude until DH comes home. I was trying to talk him into drinks with the boys tonight as I am crap company (sorry).

Foxy, sounds like you had a great day yesterday. Hope you're not feeling too tired today. You're right that it's great to make it this far - I should stop moaning really...

mumof4aceboys · 22/06/2007 17:39

Doggus - have you found any info out or made a descision on whether to be induced next week?

Foxy - did you find out about the placenta for the over 35's not being as efficient?

DKMA - are your movements ok today?

Holly & Pingu - how are you feeling?

Everyone else ok?

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 18:09

hi there Mom, yes, I think Klaw did put my mind at rest - everytime is different isn't it? On one hand you are told that as its number 4 you don't need bothering with, but then again as I'm over 35 then there can be other concerns. I'm going to play it by ear, but I won't be rushing into induction.

Sputnik, good to hear Baby Sputnik is doing OK, sorry to hear Mr Sputnik isn't doing so well. Hopefully you'll get your R&R soon. IME its not just when you've had a baby, but a couple of weeks later when you need it the most, so you should be due some soon!

JBM, is that a small panic I detect in your post? I am sure you will be fine - you have your lovely daughter and DP to help and support. And us too. We can poo our pants together!

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 18:13

Annobal, double edged sword innit? Can't win! I too want my baby out - but it would be hugely complicated in the next 2 weeks so I need her to be a week late. Trying to get out to do 3 school runs a day is going to be bloody impossible.

No one to blame but myself - oh and DP!

annobal · 22/06/2007 18:18

Oh Foxy, 3 a day . Do you have someone who can help? Why in the next 2 weeks? Is it because thats when school breaks up? DS1s nursery goes to mid-July.
